Which set of elders is Mittens interested in? Plainsfolk? Townspeople? Guessing not Seekers. :)

Mittens finds a score or so plainsfolk and a few townspeople willing to give him a fair hearing. When they hear that he plans to teach self-defense, several ask him to wait while they fetch some likely youths. They were all much more interested in arms than faith, but listened all the same.

We're getting up to where you could take Leadership. Easy enough to pick up a cohort from among them if you'd like.

After a run in with that pig of a seeker, Caitlyn mooches around camp for a while. She notices Mittens trying to teach some of the people how to fight and she offers to help. Maybe she could teach survival skills too?

You could do that. It would take 1d4 days to teach Survival, and Caitlyn can do up to three at a time. Once they're topped off, they would add in just like the other foragers.

Converts is relatively easy. Let's say Mariel (and Conel once he pops tomorrow) can successfully minister to 1d8+cha mod (+4 for Conel) people per day. They will leave their prior factions and join the Believers.

Epiphanies are harder because the gods and the follower have to agree. Figure there's a 10% chance that one of the new converts becomes a cleric or other divine caster. Most likely deities are Paladine and Kiri-Jolith but the other goodies will show up eventually. Assuming everyone lives long enough.

I agree. Politics is often not the realm where being blunt and forthcoming is treasured. Perhaps I can go and minister among the Que-Shu and the rest of the Plainsfolk. Mishakel might have something in store for them since she did call Goldmoon

She will go and begin to preach among the Plainsfolk looking for any injured.

Mariel finds a few plainsfolk suffering from minor injuries of the road: turned ankles, scrapes, bruises various small cuts and other hurts that easily answer to her prayers. A few reject her ministrations, but most accept them and listen with some interest as she preaches.

One approaches her as she finishes, a woman with long yellow hair.

"Priestess, she said. "I am Suntear. Many say you have...things, which are of the gods. I would see those things, if I may."

You can RP as much as you wish. Just resolving this here so I don't forget.

Jakun proves an able second set of eyes, helping Caitlyn as she stalks far from the refugees, but the other foragers have already gone out and taken most of the easy game. She ends up with only a few pheasants for her trouble.

Survival: 1d20 + 12 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 12 + 4 = 19 Caitlyn generates 4 units of food. I think the dice are prejudiced against refugees.

While hunting, she and Jakun also come upon tracks that don't look like those of any refugee: solid boots, too large for a kender or most children but too small for a grown human. They lead off into the west.

The power of the gods is indeed something to behold, but more than that the love they show, their love and companionship, it is something I have never experienced before Paladine made himself known to me, Suntear. The gods of light bring so many gifts. Mittens uses the power of Kiri Jolith to protect us. The tracks proved easily enough to follow through the fresh snow. They led on a slightly winding path for perhaps a third of a mile before coming to a campsite. A fire pit remained, loose rocks stacked neatly together in a ring and cold ashes within. Here the tracks faded somewhat into the new snow, but Caitlyn could tell from the side of the fire and the rough amount of clear ground that at least a half-dozen people used the sight. Further on the trees pressed in close enough that little snow had yet reached the ground.

Just as she was about to rise, Caitlyn spotted a curiously flat stone amid the fire pit's ashes. It was mostly buried, but she could see that it had a smooth round edge to it, like a coin as wide across as a child's hand.

She dug the curious stone out with her hunting knife and called Jackun over, "What do you make of this?"

Does she get a sense for how fresh the tracks are? I guess part of that question is when did it last snow?

Caitlyn thinks the tracks leading to this campsite are no more than a day old. The ones about the fire pit maybe newer still, but there's enough overhanging trees that it's hard to judge from how much snow has fallen into them.

The stone was a plain disk, about an inch thick. Its underside bore the carved likeness of a heavy hammer, cut in deep.

From somewhere in the woods, a cold, rough voice barked:

Dwarven:

"Drop your weapons and back away from them."
