Groomahk tells me he chooses the north passage.

Orcish shouts and Groomahk preceding them, the sworn band pushed on to the north. They found themselves atop another ledge, looking down into a rubble-filled cavern. The far wall, like that of the skulk cave, was made of smooth, dark gray metal. A circular door, closed tight, stood five feet above the floor.

The chamber appeared empty and silent until sharp blades pierced Groomahk's thighs, just shy of the pulsing vessels. Two gremlins stood almost under his feet. An instant later, another slashed Chotka's leg and a third stabbed Izzak in the back of the knee.

Round 1
Roaring, Izzak swung his scythe downward. The wound to his knee threw his balance off and he missed the gremlin at his feet to strike sparks off the stone floor.

Karek bounded forward, out of the jinkins' reach, and dropped easily the few feet to the lower floor before wheeling and clawing up at the larger of the jinkin. The nimble gremlin danced back from his claws, laughing, then jumped down after Karek and cut the warrior across the shin with his blade.

Rules Stuff:
The drop is only 5 feet, no risk of falling damage.

Jazvit now. He hops down to get at Karek, which is a 5 foot step for him.

Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2 No sneak attack this time. Technically he should get 1 (min possible damage) +2 (advance simple template) but I figure some randomness is in order.

Groomahk roared and raged, foam flying from his jaws as his muscles swelled. He swung his bone beak and bit like an animal, but the jinkin danced out of his reach and laughed.

Round 1
Owen threaded his way through the low, tight caverns. The jinkin that cut Chotka raced over and slashed at Owen's foot, drawing a small bead of blood. One of those that cut Groomahk took its place and scratched the orc across the ankle. The other stayed with the savage orc and stabbed him through the toe.

Down below, the jinkin with slightly larger ears and you should be able to see his name now "Jazvit eat you! HAHAHAHAHA!" it shouted as it stabbed Karek again.

    Enraged by the quick striking little creatures, Chotka drew his axe and slashed out with a crack of thunder against the closest creature.

    Chotka struck with his axe, casting sparks where it bit the stone inches from the gremlin at his feet, and called Groomahk to to slay freely.

    The gremlins continued laughing as Izzak brought his scythe around for another sweeping attack. Jazvit, Karek's attacker ducked beneath the blade, which send up a fresh round of laughter.

    "Gotta be faster than that to hit Jazvit! Hahahahahahahahahaha!" the gremlin shouted. "Big, dumb, and slow! Hahahahahahahahahaha!"

    "Laugh some more!" Karek said, slashing deep into Jazvit.

    "Hahahahahahahahahaha-OW! OW!" The chief gremlin screamed and staggered, then turned away from Karek to face his shadow. Karek took the opening and tore his throat out.

    The gremlins all screamed in terror and tried to flee, throwing all caution to the winds as they dove for their shadows. Swift steel and quick reflexes claimed them all before they could vanish.

She came with many orcs and ratlings, then went into the haunted place. She has not come back. You wanted to know about the man, yes? We hid and watched him pass, yes. He went to the haunted place too. Those who enter the desert, die."

    Owen finds a quiet moment to heal himself when he notices that his aches and pains are not from his old wounds flaring up. He also offers to heal up Izzak and Groomahk when he realizes that the blood staining their footsteps is their own.

You will need to make light. Go through the doors to a metal tunnel. Then a cave, yes. There are bones in metal there. Go on, straight through, yes. Not to the side. There is only collapse there. Through, yes, and through another cave. The doors there lead to the desert, yes. Skeletons walk there, with four arms, yes."

    Right, we have 3 and half hours left on our water breathing. We can burn most of the rest of our healing (Izzak, Karek, Groomahk, myself, although Groomahk and Izzak should probably get it first) and explore the beginnings of the haunted place, or we can fall back to town, heal up there, rest, and try again the next day. Thoughts?

The walls curved, just as they had on the outside, and panels of a lighter color ran on the ceiling. To the north and south, tangles of stone and metal cut off the passage. A wide doorway yawned open to the east.

    Groomahk snarls at the foreign metal, but flexes his shoulders and readies himself. He slams his fists into his chest and roars. A spectral dire bear, its rotten flesh dangling in strips and bouncing with every move, bursts from the earth of the cavern. It rears backwards and tears open Groomahk's chest. The bear leaps forward, clawing and crawling into the barbarian's body, and pull the wound closed with its claws. His body swells with power and strength,doubling in size! His tusks grow into mighty lances of bone! His thews bulge with the might of giants!

    He roars again and kicks the doors of the metal house inward!
