Basic rules on the lightning: so long as all four nodes are operational you need a save on entry and then every 1d6 rounds inside you need to save again.
Technologist feat and some Rogue levels are on my list. I think we've reached the point where brute force and stubborn stupidity aren't enough.
Sure you're in the right game? :)

Karek drinks his extract and cleared the way for the others as his wounds closed.
Groo calls out to the half orcs: "SuvwI'! mamej may' laSvarghDaq veS-DevwI' Chotka! 'etlh muv 'ej mamej 'ej Ha'DIbaH 'Iw SoH ghaH!" They ignored him and closed on Spidre's elemental, one dealing it a heavy blow with a long metal beam. The ratfolk on the balcony opened fire next, three of them striking it with metal bolts that exploded in bursts of lightning as they impacted. The lightning played harmlessly across the elemental, but the final impact dispersed it all the same. The last fired on Karek, the bolt striking the wall behind him with another brief web of lightning.

Casting fog cloud, centered on the 2nd ratfolk from the top so that the frontmost half-orc is at the front edge of the cloud, but still in it. 5-foot step behind Karek, then draw the wand of cure light wounds as a move action. Spidre fires two more arrows, trying to avoid all the allies in between. But there are just too many variables, even before the fog.
Karek stepped up to the cloud's edge and swung his fist, but the orc pulled back and he missed. The two orcs struck at him and Chotka, but both missed thanks to Rikal's fog. Within the cloud, the ratfolk were silent.

Froth drips from his great tusks as he charges through the lightning past his war-cheif and the half-bloods to strike at the ratfolk inside the room. Rikal tried to step clear from the lightning, but it struck and felled him just as his foot left the ground. He collapsed, bleeding and smelling of cooked meat.
Spidre continues to fling arrows into anything that looks like an opening, desperate to strike an opponent's flesh. Neither of her arrows found a home.
Karek swings at the Orc again, this time making contact and bruising force.
Groo steps forward, froth dripping from his tusks. His muscles heave as he raises his mighty bone-beak over his head. He swings at the other half-breed, and then clamps his teeth about the creature's neck. The half-breed was just too fast for both attacks. He fled into the murk. Somewhere inside it, machinery came to life and whined briefly. It sounded like a door opening. As it fell silent, a louder rumbling took its place in the air.

Karek, having hit his target happily continues pounding on him. The fallen orc makes no protest as Karek further batters his body. Sorry, anything you can kill is in the fog. Should have said. Groo savagely attacks the nearest foe, the same as Karek chose. By the time the two are finished, only parts remain of the orc.
From the fog, nothing came.

Surprise!
Groomahk, heedless of his many wounds, charges into the fog. He runs up steps and through the concealed door. He bursts out the far side to find himself surrounded by panels of blinking lights and machinery. Before him rises a massive machine of metal, looming against the far wall on a ten foot high platform. Two immense cylinders of pulsing violate light throb at the machine's core, while above a thin cylinder extends through the ceiling. Ladders to the north and south give access to the platform. At the center, a smaller machine with several metal spikes protruding from its heart extends from the larger one. The entire room vibrates with roaring thunder, and the air feels strangely alive, almost as if it were vibrating as well.
On the platform and around the open door stand a small horde of foes, including one of the flying robots and two hulking metal men such as the sworn band have never seen before. Above it all stands a woman with purple hair and odd-colored skin, holding some sort of metal rod in her hand.
The half-orc swings at Groo, missing widely, but the robot nearby steps up to him with great clanking steps and speaks. He suffers a bone-breaking blow that leaves him reeling.
The other robot says the same, thumping past Groomahk into the chamber with the rest of the Sworn Band. The flying robot trained its metal rod at Groo and emitted a burst of light that struck with the force of a thunderclap, dazzling the orc. He fell unconscious to the ground, bleeding freely.
The purple-haired woman spoke strange words
and a gout of ravening flame shot through with strange geometric lines raced from her hand to severely burn Karek and leave him in the stink of brimstone and cooked meat.
Round 1
Immediately she spoke again.
Words of metal bored into Chotka's skull, accompanied by visions of him going mad and turning on the Sworn Band. His brain burned with their heat, branding themselves inside him...but then they grew too complex for his mind to understand and faded to nothing.
"That orc is too stupid to enchant! Destroy him!" the woman shouted in Hallit.

The half-orc rushed up with its section of conduit and panel, slamming the assembly into Karek's head and felling him. The two heavy robots clomped and clanged their way up in his wake. The flying one buzzed ahead and shot Chotka as it had Groo, with a stunning burst of noise. The orc kept his feet. Far back, the ratlings begin reloading their crossbows.
