Spidre |
Spidre approaches the creature and bends down to pet it. "Oh he's so perfect! We get to keep him?" she claps her hands together and smiles at the others. "It's like a family pet!"

Rikal Elkhorn |
Kuramu makes squeaky noises that sound like, if he were human, he'd be grumbling about something. He does not seem pleased about something.
Rikal Elkhorn |
Yes, back to where we left off. As to the picture, nope. I was just gonna google "armadillo". Plus he should spend most of his time in my bag, or I'll buy a familiar satchel. He's still normal familiar sized, not animal companion sized.
Karek Redhand |
Karek wakes up and greets the morning with a stretch and a loud fart. Looking around he blinks. "Armadillo? Never tasted one of those."
I'm back and posting daily again. Thanks for your patience.
Spidre |
"They're pretty tough actually. I don't recommend it." Spidre says casually as she makes exaggerated faces to their new animal friend.

Samnell |
Kuramu critters angrily before climbing up Rikal's pants and armor and into his backpack.
The Sworn Band descend once more beneath the hill and into the metal caves. There they find their old path shut against them. The door does not respond to any card offered it. That left them with two other doors they might try, both facing in the general direction of where they battled the gargoyle.
Rikal Elkhorn |
Rikal nods in agreement with Chotka's actions. "It is good to see you more like your normal self, war leader."
Spidre |
"Yeah, I thought you'd never be right again after your brain came out your ears." Spidre admitted. She positioned herself with her bow out and her hood drawn up as Chotka sought to open the door.
Groomahk |
Groomahk, seeing his war leader trying the door, draws for his great bone beam and readied himself to strike whatever comes through the door.
Samnell |
Chotka grunted when the door would not open, then took a card, shuffled over to the door to the left and shoved the card at the reader.
The door opened easily, showing a short hallway that buzzed and hummed with the sounds of moving metal. Four glowing and flashing bulbs studded the walls, lightning flashing between them.
Rikal Elkhorn |
Rikal stares at the lightning-filled hallway, trying to figure out if his visions have shown him anything about them.

Chotka, Last of the Blackeyes |
Chotka stared at Spidre, eyes wide. He jammed a meaty finger in his ear and waggled it about before pulling it out and sniffing it. Wrinkling his nose, he shrugged, then returned his attention to the lightning filled room.

Rikal thinks that the bulbs in the walls -his mind keeps wanting to call them nodes- aren't the cause of the lightnings. Instead they move the lightning place to place. So destroying them might end the danger, though doing so might mean coming within reach and getting badly burned. He's reasonably sure that using something metal to do the job would be dangerous as well.
Chotka, Last of the Blackeyes |
It seemed the warband was in need of a long, wooden tool of some sort. Unfortunately, that was a thought that did not even begin to register within the damaged brain of the burly, wordless orc with a ten foot battering ram strapped to his back.
Groomahk |
Groomahk hefts his mighty bone beak and charges into the room, ready to smash through the next door, and crush his enemies!
Samnell |
I can't believe no one stopped him. I approve! :)
Groomahk hefts his mighty bone beak and charges into the room, ready to smash through the next door, and crush his enemies!
Groomahk charged the ligthnings, heedless of his own safety. Arcs of crawling electricity flew into his body, sending jolts of agony through his muscles as the stench of cooking meat filled the air. He arrived at the far end of the corridor staggering beneath their continued force.

If he's present for another: 1d6 ⇒ 5 rounds he'll have to save again.
Spidre |
Rikal didn't tell us what was going on unfortunately, so why stop Groo from being Groo?
Spidre covers her mouth with her hand as Groomahk is struck by wall lightning. "I'm not doing that." She mutters.
Rikal Elkhorn |
Rikal looks to Chotka and says, "Warleader, smash the glass eyes generating the lightning with your battering ram."

I can never decide if I should read calling Chotka warleader as an endearing thing one does with one's pet or a sign of the sworn band's maniacal insanity. :)
Chotka, Last of the Blackeyes |
Chotka looked at Rikal, then roared his agreement and leveled his orc skull ram at the lightning orbs.

Chotka brought his ram down on the nearest bulb of metal, but his strike did no damage to it at all.
Hardness 15 :(
Rikal Elkhorn |
"Strike again, Warleader! Destroy the orbs that generate black magic electricity!"
Inspired rage, sharing the Smasher rage power.
Samnell |
The pounding beat flowed over Chotka, and he let it take hold.
[dice=Orc Skull Ram]1d20+8-1, [dice=Damage]1d10+7+3
Inspired by Rikal's warsong, Chotka slammed his ram into the bulb of metal. This time it dented, but fell far short of breaking. It looked as though it would take many strikes to destroy one.
Karek Redhand |
Growing bored with the current display of bloody mindedness Karek says. "Maybe we could check the other door? The one we haven't tried yet."
Fun as this is we've spent long enough battering at a brick wall with our heads.
Rikal Elkhorn |
"So long as it does not also have these lightning orbs."
Rikal goes over to open the next door down.
Spidre |
"I guess we have to fight the hallway." Spidre said in a distant, half-hearted tone.
"Or... Run through it and hope for the best." She shrugged, looking a bit hopeless.

Spidre |
Spidre reaches into the air above her and swirls it around, a dark cloud coalescing around her hand. Soon it begins to spark and rumble, and she sets it before her. "Go and steal the lightning." She commands, and the small storm obliges.

Groomahk |
Groomahk grunts and takes the ram. Then, he sees Spidre's lightning-spirit dart down the hallway and stops, waiting to see what happens.
This is probably the smartest thing that Groo's ever done

summoning a lightning elemental (immune to electricity)
Spidre's elemental flits off into the lightning and dances among it, but the arcs show no signs of stopping.
Karek Redhand |
Karek has been growing increasingly impatient and decides to chance a straight rush through.
How many Ref saves?
I also think that once the nodes have fired everyone else can run through safely. That's a guess by the way. :)
Technologist feat and some Rogue levels are on my list. I think we've reached the point where brute force and stubborn stupidity aren't enough.
Spidre |
I was hoping that the lightning would strike the elemental and that we could then bypass it safely.
Spidre prepares to rush through. "Okay... who wants to go first?"
Karek Redhand |
I said I would, so I'm running the hallway. Most likely getting a new hairdo. :)
Karek took a deep breath, threw back his head and howled a challege, then charged into the hallway.
