Surprise!
The sworn band set out across the valley. As they advance, a faint glow appears between the rocks now and then. The path takes them around many outcroppings and hills that obscure it briefly, but it always returns.

As they move generally toward the light, Rikal, Izzak, and Karek spy seven strange, four-armed skeletons lurking behind rocks and moving slowly toward the band.

As they move generally toward the light, Rikal, Izzak, and Karek spy seven strange, four-armed skeletons lurking behind rocks and moving slowly toward the band.

With a clear voice, Rikal begain to recite his tribe's history of fighting the not-dead horrors. Izzak drew out his earthbreaker and rushed ahead, swing wild and leaving the skeleton unharmed.

The skeletons closed with the sworn band, clustering around Karek, Izzak, and Groomahk. The simple orc took two gouges to his hide from chilly, hard bone, as did Karek. Only Izzak emerged unscathed.

"Undead!" Karek bellowed a challenge as he punched the nearest. His fist smashed into its oddly-shaped skull. The blow produced a spiderweb of cracks and the skeleton's entire form rattled, but did not quite fall.

    Round 1
Continuing to chant stories of battles with undead, Rikal moved into a flanking position with Karek before wailing into a skeleton with his morningstar. The swing went wild, failing to connect.

Izzak stepped to one side, hoping to lure a skeleton between himself and Karek and swung his earthbreaker again. His blow struck the skeleton clean on the odd-shaped skull, and through the skull, and shattered down the creature's spine as it collapsed.

The four-armed skeletons pressed their attack. Two descended on Groomakh, tearing the huge orc down. Another gravely hurt Karek. Two leaped on Rikal, leaving themselves exposed. He dispatched one with his morningstar and Karek's punch leveled the second. The last threw itself on Izzak, wrapping its arms around him.

Continuing his chant, Rikal rushed towards the skeleton draped over Izzak, bringing his Morningstar down in a vicious overhand swing that went completely wide of the mark. Izzak tried to escape the four-armed skeleton, but proved unable to dislodge more than an arm at a time. The skeleton responded by dragging Izzak away from the sworn band.

As Izzak was drawn away, Groomahk took a slash from his own foe. The other still fighting tore into Karek again, undoing all Owen's healing and leaving the man unconscious once more.

Owen quickly weighed Karek and Groomahk, deciding that Groomahk faced worse danger and rushing to his side with fresh healing.

Chotka snarled and lunged forward to take a bite of the skeletal creature before him, then stepped back to bring his massive ram to bear. His bite found purchase, but not his ram.

Once more, Groomahk's blood burned for battle! He swung his bone-beak in a mighty arc, bringing it crashing down on the skeleton's skull! The skeleton fell to pieces before him.

Allowing his own chant to make his blood burn, Rikal issues forth a roar of battle before attacking the skeleton who had downed Karek. He hoped that the others would be able to pursue the one dragging Izzak away. His blow failed to connect.

Izzak tore free from his skeleton and it wheeled on him, resuming the attack and tearing him down. The other turned from Karek to Rikal and scratched a bloody line across his chest.

Owen laid a hand on Karek and spoke the spirits' words again, closing the man's wounds and rousing him.

So where to? You have some loot you can sell and/or drink up.

Chotka led the band back to the shaman who had blessed them with the ability to breathe water and asked him where they might stay a while and rest, as well as requesting his aid in breathing water again once they had tended to their wounds.

I'll let someone a bit more human take care of item sales, if someone is ok with that.

I'll handle loot sales, unless someone else wants to do it. Mind you, all of us being tribesmen, I don't think any of us quite has the concept of "money" down, so it would be more like bartering, with an eye towards acquiring more healing capabilities, since that's our main limitation. Is that doable?

Related, do we still have Owen, Karek, and Izzak, or have we lost them?

Izzak seems to be out on deployment. Haven't heard from him. I'd been meaning to get in touch with Owen but forgot. Hadn't realized Karek was so silent. Will check in.

After Groomahk and Karek sampled the strange fluids the sworn band collected from below, Chotka took his turn. Alien vistas unfolded before his eyes, weird, unknown realms of color and light that turned and spun on themselves, merging and splitting in an endless, dazzling array. The sun and stars melted and dripped down, smelling of flowers, while the ground rose up and pulsed gently.

No one else saw those delights. To them, Chotka's face just went blank as he stared blindly ahead.

    Rules Stuff:

How long?: 1d4 ⇒ 1 hours. And Chotka is addicted to Numerian fluid.

Having reread the rules just now, I think strong addiction means that Chotka needs to not just get his fluid fix but also get this particular trip once per week, lest he suffer withdrawal.

Seems like hitting the same result again is highly unlikely, so looks like I'll be trying to get my fix in a week if we can find more, and most likely going through withdrawal anyways, unless it kills me. Rikal set out into Torch to sell the sworn band's plunder, but soon found himself intercepted by a small, rather grubby boy who greeted him in halting Hallit.

"Hail bold one! My master swears you to be made welcome. Come to the disks of silver room for much make fun. He gives twoscore fists ring to you."

He does ask the rest of the party. "Free food and booze! Who's up for some fun?"
