Pilot: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15 - The Force has abandoned me.

Anakin gets off to an incredibly rocky start, and has a few moments of panic where he thinks something more insidious has been done to his pod. He opens his mouth to curse at Sebulba, but any threats are lost in the roar of the engines.

"Alright, we're coming in for the landing. If there's anything else you want to take care of before we leave the lady behind, I'd suggest doing it now." Ralk goes through the motions of powering down the ship to prep for landing, lowering the throttle over time and guiding it to the designated pad. Finally, the landing gears come down and it settles to the planet surface, the drives and thrusters humming down to stillness.

The Bothan stands from his chair and moves toward the nearer docking ring, where he thumbs the control to open it up and lower the ramp. While waiting, he also double checks his equipment. His pistol is secured under his vest, easy to draw over his flight suit, and the subrepeater is snug in its hip holster. He taps on his bracer computer to go over the information he's been given--Looking for a couple guerilla leaders, both humans, got it--and finally grabs a small pack from a cabinet. Inside the pack are tools for slicing and disrupting mechanical locks and devices, hideously illegal for anyone without an official license to use. Ralk slings it over his shoulder and glances at the others as the docking doors hiss open. "Everybody ready?"

Obi-wan inhales sharply, struggling to ignore the queasy churning of his stomach, as Ralk throws the Intrigue through a hard spinning dive away from the masses of fighting ships. "I think you and I have different ideas of what constitutes "smooth", Master Dall'Rey. Very different, indeed..." Obi-Wan's white-knuckled grip on his chair relaxes as the ship descends into the atmosphere.

He stands and walks to the other room where Jedi Master Gui-Gon jinn had been meditating early, checking that everything on his utility belt was in place as he went. He asks his master as he enters the room, "Master, we've landed and are ready to meet with the guerilla leaders despite that running firefight. That the Trade Federation is here... it makes little sense. The Senate hadn't approved any action. In any case, shall we go?"

Ready when I've collected my mentor. :)

Qui-Gon opens his eyes and stands, reflecting for a moment before speaking.

"The situation is beyond strange, Obi-Wan. We must attempt to be mindful of our actions here...I sense that they will have great repercussions in the future. I am ready to leave, but this is largely, as they say, your show. Your performance on this mission will dictate your advancement in the Jedi Order. So for once, my Padawan, I shall follow your lead. Let us begin."

Leaning against a cargo crate, waiting for the ship's ramp to descend, Jonjon quickly consumes some of his rations. He appears mostly bored, but somewhat alert for trouble.

Use the Force (sense force): 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (10) + 15 = 25
His head tilts and his attention perks up as he senses... something within the ship. It was the first time he'd ever felt... well, that sensation.

Obi-Wan listens to Gui-Gon's words with rapt attention. I had thought it was just nerves earlier when we were landing, but if Master Gui-Gon feels it as well? Slightly unnerved by this revelation, Obi-Wan opines, "I had felt it as well, Master. I disregarded it as nerves flying with our... companion pilot. I will be more mindful of my feelings in the future. We should go, I believe the others are ready."

He gestures towards the door and then adds, as Gui-Gon passes, "Thank you, by the way, Master. Your trust on such a delicate mission means a lot to me. I won't let you or the Jedi Council down. Nor the Chancellor, I suppose. I swear it."

As they return to the others, Obi-Wan nods to Ralk, "Yes, we are ready when you and Miss Dovan are." As the boarding ramp lowers, Obi-Wan taps his lightsaber one final time before pulling the hood of his robe up over his head. The robes may have to go, if we're to avoid drawing attention to ourselves.

"Ralk, one of these days you're going to forget to pull up and I'll be damned pissed at you in the five seconds I have before we die in a fiery explosion." Kyra grins, standing up from her seat at the helm of the Intrigue, and cracks her neck before heading into her quarters. When she re-emerges, a massive blaster rifle is slung across her back with a thick, corded cable connected to the back of her armor. She does a diagnostic check on her armor and equipment before sighing and heading out toward the boarding ramp. "Let's meet these guerrillas, then."

Ralk claps his hands and gestures for the others in the Intrigue to follow him out. He raises his hands to mitigate the change from dim internal lighting to the sun of the outdoors, and casts his gaze around until he spots--first JonJon. He blinks and steps forward, his hands settling onto his belts. "What are you supposed to be? Another intelligent life form, I suppose. The fact you're not shooting at me is nice, though." He taps his fingers and gives a quick, lopsided grin. "I was supposed to meet with some local, ah, representatives."

I'm assuming that a lot of people not from Naboo wouldn't recognize a Gungan on sight, but the joke stands either way.

Male Human Noble 1/Scout 3/Soldier 3

"JonJon Banks is one of the native Gungan people of Naboo. He has been aiding us in harrying the Mandalorians. I am Captain Quarsh Panaka, head of the Naboo Royal Security Forces. This is Sabe, one of the Queen's bodyguards." Panaka studies the Intrigue. "You could not have brought many soldiers on that ship. How large is the strike team, Captain...?"

Bothan Scoundrel 7 | HP 68/68, Condition 0 | Fortitude 21, Reflex 24, Will 22 | Init +12, Perception +10 | Dark Side 1

"Ralk Dall'rey." The Bothan turns when Panaka speaks up and offers a hand in greeting. He turns to look at the ship, and, seeing the other three, turns back with a smirk. "As for the strike team, you're looking at us. Couldn't exactly send a full regiment through the blockade, so they settled for a couple of Jedi and a crack pair of fringers. Don't worry, big guy--your queen's in good hands."

He glances around and leans in, lowering his voice. "Listen, no offense, but seeing as you're a peaceful planet, I can't imagine your security defenses are the toughest I've dealt with. And we've even got the man in charge to help us break them wide open!" He grins and nods to Sabe. "And a bodyguard to help us... well, guard the bodies. I think this is going to go swimmingly."

Yeah, I'll do that. Why not.

Anyone with Knowedge Tactics may roll that skill.

Anakin:
Your pod rockets forward, and you begin the race! You had a game plan going in...don't place first. You know better than most how vicious the top racers can be to others they perceive as a real threat. Your start doesn't have you exactly where you want; you planned to break free in the beginning then fade into one of the middle qualifying spots. You're still okay, though...there's plenty of race left. You shoot forward, pods all around you. The ground is fairly open at this point.

Make another Pilot check.

Male Human Noble 1/Scout 3/Soldier 3

Knowledge (tactics): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20

The tactics in play are sound. Though it's your planet in question it's easy to understand the Republic's position. A large force might mean all-out war, and Jedi have powers that can help nearly any mission succeed.

"My name is Kyra Dovan, co-pilot of the Intrigue," Kyra says as she walks down the ramp after Ralk, hefting her massive repeating blaster onto her shoulder before stopping next to the Bothan. No longer in their seats at the helm of the ship, the height difference between them is obvious; Kyra stands more than a foot taller than Ralk--and even has a few inches on Panaka--and in more or less every way the Bothan is small, Kyra is not. The sunlight on Naboo catches the cuirass of her battle armor and gives the silvery-blue durasteel is more vibrant metallic sheen than it had within the ship. "What, aren't we impressive enough?" she says with a grin, looking down at her shipmate. "I know Ralk looks a little underwhelming, but I like to think I'm a little more imposing... and he's better than he looks, believe it or not."

"That, and we've got two Jedi aboard. Well, a Jedi and his apprentice, but I'd take a half-baked Jedi over a dozen Republic troopers if I had the choice."

Male Human Noble 1/Scout 3/Soldier 3

"Well, then let's hope the two of you and a pair of Jedi are enough. We've found a way into the palace that will allow us to avoid any patrols or security sensors. Tell me, how we'll will your equipment hold up under water? Are you able to swim with that, Kyra?"

HP: 79/79; Second Wind: 19; Fort 19 Reflex 24 Will 21; Perception +12; Initiative +11; Speed 8 Force Suite: 14/14 Force Grip, Surge, Rebuke, Move Object, Mind Trick, Battle Strike,Negate Energy, Cloak, Ionize, Drain Energy, Cryokinesis, Force Track, Inertia, Thought Bomb;

"Speaking of Swimming." Jonjon will offer the repreathers to the members of the group. "You will be following me through the canal system." he declares.

"... Of course they didn't tell us we'd be swimming," Kyra says, sighing with irritation. "I'll be fine, swimming won't be a problem, just not my favorite thing to do, especially not all geared up like this." She groans a bit and adjusts her armor, making sure the internal generator is still sealed before turning her attention back to the others. "What's the plan once we're out of the canals? Are we planning on leaving the way we came, or will we be in for some trouble?"

Jonjon:
Swimming out, assuming the extraction goes as planned, would be advisable. If you had to, you know where some vehicles are stashed that could bring you to Oto Gunga if you needed a place to lie low, though you'd prefer not to go there.

Qarth/Sabe:
Swimming out is the best idea but if it goes sideways you know the locations of the hangar and garage; alternate methods of escape are viable.

"Swimming?" Ralk looks to be in as much disbelief as Kyra, and he glances sidelong at the woman with a sigh. This is why I decided to fly my own way in the first place. At least then if you don't know everything, you know where to pin the blame.

"Yeah, I can swim. And my gear should be okay, so long as I don't try to shoot anything down there." He pats the blaster on his hip. "I'll warn you in advance, though: Most people aren't really into the way a wet Bothan smells. Nowhere near as bad as a Wookiee, mind, but there you go." He sighs again and his ears flick in what could be annoyance, or anticipation. "Why exactly are we using the canals? I mean, I'm guessing the Mandos aren't watching them as closely, but couldn't you find another route? Maybe something nice and dry, straightforward, with a good cantina on the way?"

Obi-Wan bows in greeting to the welcoming party, though he studies them a moment for signs of deception before offering, "Greetings, I am Jedi Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi. This is my master, Gui-Gonn Jinn." He listens to the back and forth for a moment, stewing on an odd prickling he'd felt since he stepped off the ship. Unsure of the origin of the sensation, he opens his mind to the Force, but does nothing further, hoping for insight.

He replies to the Captain's question, "Most of my equipment should be fine for a short immersion, including my lightsaber." He takes the offered rebreather, adding it to his belt. "I like a cantina as much as the next man, Ralk, but I think Gui-Gon and I would attract attention and there's doubtless informers looking to curry favor with the Mandolorians. If the canal is the best way to get us closest to the Queen before an alarm is raised, then that would be for the best."

Jonjon will shrug. "You wanted a way for a strike team to enter the palace and retrieve the queen. This is the way. We have other ways out if'n you are too scared to get a little wet." he replies, grinning the only way a Gungan can. "Most Nabooans don't think about the water, but we gungans... sometimes the biggest beasties come from the water."

Glad I don't have knowledge: tactics so I don't need to think this is a good idea. Sabe would have preferred a more robust response. Of course, she has never seen Jedi in action.

Sabe chokes down a mountain of negative verbal responses. and walks over to a pile of discarded ship parts.

She rummages through some discarded ship parts and uncovers a piece of canvas. Pulling it aside, she reveals her blaster rifle, bandolier, utility belt. Shedding her poncho and fashionable boots, she pulls on a pair of darker utility boots. The transformation from ingenue to action girl takes only a few moments.

"If we are going to do this without an army, let's at least get a move on."

Kyra gives Sabe a look as she suits up, shrugging once the woman looks more like a solider. "Alright, let's get a move on. Where's the entrance to the canal we're going to be swimming in?" she asks, grabbing the re-breather from the Gungan.

You are easily able to find a body of water that will let you slip into the canal system. Jonjon, you've had the opportunity to explore the canal system and know the way; it's not difficult. The swim is also easy. Though the water is not stagnant, it is moved at a slow and steady right by machinery. At times the tubes can become cramped, but for the most part, it's an easy journey.

After perhaps twenty minutes, you reach your destination. Carefully and slowly breaking the surface, you scan the room and find it empty.

You are in a large conservatory, replete with vivacious plants of all shapes and sizes. There is a clear exit from the room. Qarth and Sabe, you know the layout of the palace, as well as where the Queen is most likely to be held; her quarters are the most secure room in the complex. However, you don't know where any Mandalorians might be.

Anyone who wishes to may make a Use Computer check to slice into the data network.

"Nothing like a little swim to get the blood flowing," Kyra says, hauling herself out of the water and shaking out her hair. She hefts her blaster rifle and makes sure everything is in working order before she walks closer to the exit and turns to her Bothan companion. "Ralk, you want to have a go at slicing into their computer network> Might be helpful."

Obi-Wan cautiously makes his way out of the water, robes soaked thoroughly and hanging heavy across his shoulders. Shrugging out of them, he casts a glance at Ralk, whose fur drapes around his face in dripping strings, "Let's give him a moment to catch his breath from the swim. I'll have a look at the computers."

Stepping up to the console, he plugs in his datapad and starts working his way through the newly added Mandolorian security routines. It's clear that this isn't the first time the Jedi has tried to gain access to a locked computer system. "I'm working my way through their firewall. Perhaps in a moment, I'll be able to tell where any guards may be posted. Avoiding conflict and alarm until we can reach the queen will be essential."

Use Computer: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31

Obi-Wan, you're easily able to slice in. You get access to several data feeds. Mandalorians presence is heavy on this floor. However, the hallway just outside is clear, as is the path to the kitchens. From there, you can access a servant's path out the back. If your group was clever enough to brin any ascension gear you could gain access to the second story. The room you would enter would be the Queen's library. Her quarters are next door. There is. I way in through that window and she is clearly under guard by at least six Mandalorians. Still, this is probably your best bet for a quick, stealthy strike and a fast exit.

Anakin grits his teeth, trying to take the early part of the race somewhat easily, fighting the urge to rocket to the front. He imagines himself finishing in first, breaking records (despite it being only a qualifier) - and having women flock to him after the race, including the one from his dreams.

Male Human Noble 1/Scout 3/Soldier 3

"Agreed, Jedi Kenobi. If the Mandalorians are alerted, they may move the Queen or take more drastic actions. If there is a clear route, you may take point. Kyra, heavy weaponry such as yours is best utilized from the back, so would you please take the rear? The rest of us will move in between." Panaka himself will take the spot behind Obi-Wan.

"Our best route is to reach the second floor from here. We are each equipped with the Captain's ascension guns. I would be happy to scout ahead, unless the Jedi have some ability to be invisible. My armor bends light and dampens sound."

Sabe's stealth with the Shadowsuit is +21.

Jonjon's is only +6 since it's not trained, but yes, he does have force cloak, which would typically boost his stealth to +9 and give him total concealment against anyone who would be looking at him... Not that the jedi know I can use the force yet. :P

"Your suit... it should be sufficient. Yes. I will follow shortly after you." Jonjon says, adjusting the grip on his spear.

Anakin:
You hold in the middle of the pack. Your dream, the earlier attempted tampering...you're not flying with your usual brilliance, but that's fine. There's always time to kick it into gear.

Make me another pilot check.

On Naboo:
Your party is able to quietly slip through the halls and into the kitchens. No servants are present; they're probably not too inclined to cook for Mandalorians, though the larders remain well stocked. You come out to a back dock, used by servants to enjoy a smoke or sit down and be outside during a break. The area is clear.

You may attempt to make your way to the second floor. Ascenion Guns will do the trick automatically. Otherwise you may make a Climb check or use some other ability.

Anakin tries to focus on the race a bit more, but still bides his time, holding towards the middle of the pact. The approach of jumping ahead towards the end was risky enough without being distracted. He pushes it forward slightly more, his attention back on the pods around him.

Couple more rolls, but the DC's are fairly low

Anakin, several pods in the middle begin to falter, and you begin to assert yourself, slowing accelerating. There is a drop coming up, and if you get the angle right, you'll be able to gain a lot of ground.

One more pilot check, and if it's low you might want to use a reroll...

As the others start to falter, Anakin grins. Despite what was at stake, the race had felt surprisingly relaxing so far. Everyone was so concerned with placing that there was less dangerous sabotage than he'd seen in some other races. For a few seconds, he'd been able to forget how much was at stake. Anakin grins widely as he realises what part of the race he's in, and starts letting loose, kicking the pod towards its upper limits.

Shadowsuit is fine with me. It's not difficult to line the shot up, and you are easily able to ascend.

Anakin, your pod bursts forward. That was the moment you'd been waiting for; there's only a few people ahead of you know. A hairpin turn is coming up, though, so it's probably best to ease up on the throttle before gunning in the final straightaway.

Anakin guns forward, trying to make up some more ground before having to slow down for the hairpin turn. Pushing it just a hair further than most would have, he finally lefts off the throttle momentarily, letting the momentum carry him around the tight curve as he swings the pod in a drift, before gunning the engine once more, the finish line rapidly approaching.

Anakin, your Pilot check is good enough to place wherever you like. You can shoot to first, but as long as you finish in the top 5, you'll be set for the Boonta Eve Classic.

At the balcony to the second story, Captain Panaka pulls out a spare grappling hook with liquid cable dispenser. "Do any of you need one?"

Once some one takes it or everyone says they don't need one, Panaka will take sight with his ascension gun and repel up to the second story.

Obi-Wan is caught entirely off guard by his Gungan compatriot's leap to the second floor. Could he be...? Dismissing the thought as a distraction, he focuses his mind on the task at hand and shakes his head in a negative reply to the Captain. Firing his own ascension gun, he makes his safe way to the second floor.

It enters into Anakin's mind that he should finish third. The person winning first place would have a target on their back. Even second place would be guaranteed some animosity, from the one in first if nothing else. Being in third - or even fourth - set you up as good, but left you room to be quiet, to avoid the pressure and backstabbing. You couldn't do that in first or second, there were too many eyes on you.

These thoughts fall onto deaf ears, however - all Anakin can think of is his fantasy of being the best, and seeing the look on Sebulba's face when he not only didn't crash, but won the race. He suspects he'll invoke even more potentials for sabotage, but snorts at the thought. 'I can handle anything they throw at me.'

Gunning the engine hard, it's with a huge grin that he zips through the finish in first place.
