Yes, I've moved from my small home town on the west coast, all the way to the capital city on the opposite side of the country. Also went from a small public accountancy firm (8 of us all together), to the finance department of a medium sized primary healthcare provider (I think 150 employees all told). So, it's been a bit of a change. :)

I think our GM has been otherwise occupied.
indeed, I have been a bit tied up as my nephew is staying with us for the summer and I have been uncle freehold.
Which is kinda nice but man..kids are a lot of work. Especially when they are taller than you and still like to climb all over you.

Babysitting is great birth control, isn't it?
nah, I love my nephew(s). It's just weird that he's a rambunctious 13 year old who likes to rough house with his uncle because there are no other guys around and yet he's 6 feet tall- and growing...

I don't see any generic "Biotic Field" description in the book. Hestia can dominate one beast at a time or put a barrier between herself and them, or reave, which gives Hestia cover.
She doesn't have anything like singularity or stasis. Is that more what Grace was thinking?
I know that Reave can target one or more enemies, depending on upgrades, and Barrier (at least, in the game) seems to be more of a "whatever the plot needs it to do" ability. Besides that, it's up to you what you want to do. You're the *loose cannon* of the group, remember?

Yeah, I was more wondering if I had missed something in the player's guide, like a generic ability "biotic field" that all biotics can use. Ability information is scattered to hell and back in that doc and I'm not confident that I understand how to mechanically play this game - not this class in particular, but any class.

OK, so if I read this correctly, under Biotic Dominate (p 124), I can make a roll to use the base description and the shifts from the roll determine the strength from the block. I have to beat the difficulty with the result of the roll and the shifts are roll-difficulty. It lasts shift/3 exchanges (round, essentially). Once it's over, I can't use it again until 4 rounds have passed.
If I choose to spend a fate point, I can do the Lingering Dominate.
If I accept 1 stress per exchange, I can make it Furious.
I can make it Insidious by slowing my recharge.
And I can use Vulnerable at no cost.

you can spend a fate point to use any of the invoke abilities (note that furious is 1 point of stress to the TARGET). The GM can, at his discretion, make you subject to any one of those compels, which may or may not coincide with the invoke you used. If you accept the compel, you gain a fate point. You can refuse the compel by spending a fate point.

Dern observes his companions as they diligently assess the situation. Grace is peering through the scope of her weapon, sizing up the enemy. Hestia is concentrating hard on dominating the alpha varren. Gir is diligently scanning the pack for anomalies. The mood is tense and quiet.
Behind them, Dern casually hoists his grenade launcher, takes aim at the pack, and fires a fragmentation grenade into the lot of them.
So this is basically exactly what it's like playing ME3 multiplayer.

They're breaking my face today, so I will probably be in the hospital for a day or two and pretty bedridden for a while (from everything I've heard about this). I'll try to get up and online this weekend, but there are too many unknowns to promise much. Bot Hestia if you need to. She can be all teenage-sulky and mad about something so quieter than usual. That would be totally IC.
See you guys later!

I wish I had seen this before I made my character. Granted, we've already got more than our fair share of antisocial weirdos, so one more might have been too much.
