It is the Dropbox Fate version.
I assume we will use d6's in the dice roller to approximate. So 4d6 would be (0, -1, +1, 0) for a total roll of 0. Is that what you were thinking, GM?
Yes indeed!
1-2 is treated as a (-),
3-4 is treated as a ( ),
5-6 is treated as a (+).
So yes the end result would be 0. Here's hoping that roll wasn't an important one, or you have FATE to spare.

test: 4d3 - 8 ⇒ (3, 3, 1, 1) - 8 = 0
test: 4d3 - 8 ⇒ (3, 2, 1, 2) - 8 = 0test: 4d3 - 8 ⇒ (2, 2, 3, 2) - 8 = 1
test: 4d3 - 8 ⇒ (2, 2, 1, 2) - 8 = -1
..is this some type of mathematical sorcery?

So what is the concept again?
I am working on that even as we speak. I am at the second job though, so it's going to be a while before I can post it. I'll have flavor up tonight with respect to the state of the world and what each race is looking at in terms of interesting times, and an actual mission up by 6:30 PM EST tomorrow.

I'd like to see the wimpy krogan! Full on nerd glasses and pocket protector for his shotgun and everything!

You're joking, right? 0 is a very decent result in FATE... I made a lot of FATE rolls last week (Dresden Files on Wednesday, Star Wars on Sunday) and aside of a series of 0,0,+,+ rolls late during SW game, most of my rolls were below 0.
Rolling 4d3-8 to generate a number between -4 and +4 should be adequate.

Description of the state of the galaxy is up! I would like at least one adventure that goes into aspect creation to explain what you were up to during the reaper war (likely the first adventure you ever had), and another to have something to do with these new wrinkles that have developed in the galactic stage, but they do not have to be unique to your race. For example, a krogan, perhaps moved by the plight of another species looking to repopulate could be involved with the Vessels of Athame, or a salarian could be an attache to the CDF, overseeing reconstruction of the Citadel alongside a drelll construction team. Or you could just be a quarian taking the long way home or a human that was a bit too young to actually participate in the war to liberate earth(maybe you have extensive background in hiding from reapers) that decided to become a marine and is fresh out of boot. It's up to you!

Ah, I forgot to put this in above- this is a Veteran level game.
The FATE system seems to be one part roleplaying game, two parts interactive fiction. Given this and the fact that we are almost all quite familiar with the game itself, I think we will be capable of finding ways to make the backstories work together with minimal fuss.

Cool stuff. :)
How do people want to handle the adventure aspects? The guide in the book assumes three or less players, and we've got... five?
I don't think it assumes you only have three. We can do the adventures as instructed, but they won't go all the way around the "table". You just stop when a third person has added to it.
What we need is an order for the five players, and you can PM your adventure to the next person on the list.
Maybe order joined? (David > CH > Aranna > Treppa > Synos > [back to David])

Also, for all interested, we are up to Blasto X: The Council, where Blasto becomes the hanar representative to the Council, with Bubin taking his place as a Spectre. A taut political thriller, there is some concern that this change is not congruent to a hands-on character like Blasto, although the ending scene, where Blasto tells the volus businessman who had behind the scene manipulating things so that Blasto and Bubin end up opposing each other on major issues making the hotheaded Blasto seem incompetent in the process to "Get off this one's Citadel" before kicking him out an airlock, saves the film for most.

Great idea. Please keep me in the loop with respect to passing the notes around, I'll make changes to adventure and backstory where necessary.

Makes sense to me. I thought it was limited to three because then everyone is involved with each other's adventure, but your reading makes perfect sense. I'm also good with that order too.
It may help to make sure we aren't overlapping too much. Anybody else going the tech route? We could make sure we have different areas of focus.
I was thinking Quarian Techie, but focusing on the Infiltrator side of things.
