Ceolor gives a look of understanding when Ykris starts mentioning his species' darker history. "Ah, I understand. I try to avoid talking about my hometown for a very similar reason..." His expression lightens some when the talk turns to science. "Hmm, I'd never go as far as say I'm a scientist, but I'm a bit more than interested. Let's go with self-trained enthusiast who likes getting things accurate. I write adventure holo-novels, but I want to make sure I portray the people and species I write about accurately. That lead me into the field of xenobiology, which I developed a major interest in. I've found I can rarely imagine creatures more interesting than the one's that can be found in nature. For example, if you've been living in the Pact Worlds for a while, you've probably heard of the barathu, right? There's no way I could imagine a people who literally combine their bodies and minds together like they do; I'm just not that creative. And they have such a depth and detail to their history already. I love learning about things like that."
Ceolor takes a second to look off into the distance, a content smile on his face, before turning back to Ykris. "But that must be rather boring to you. So what is your work like at CeriCore? Do you often go on assignments to other places?" Ceolor decides to turn the conversation back to Ykris, curious about the parasites experiences.

Fixit approaches Naiaj more directly and points to the datapad "You know, I recognise that model. It's a goodun' but it does come with a couple of quirks. If I could just..." He mutters as he snatches at the datapad. "Luckily for you, I know a couple of fixes..."

”Wow that sounds amazing!” the android exclaims with positivity and enthusiasm as it steps back to allow Markar to join in the conversation ”I seem to be hogging more than my fair share of the Starfinders” it jokes, ”…but it is great to hear how such talented people are able to get out there and experience so much, and to learn so much, and surely that will be of benefit to everyone”. It takes a moment to admire Markar’s tattoo ”I suppose that marks you as part of the ‘tribe’ now? Surely they will get you on to more missions though, you seem really enthusiastic”
Tamon has a new cocktail in hand.

Fixit snatches the datapad which initially earns a scowl from the gnome, but as he explains his fixes and shortcuts, the gnome cools a little and eventually seems quite interested in what the ysoki has to say. The tension mounts and there is certainly the distraction of a pile of onlookers staring at Fixit in a social situation where there would be clear and immediate ramifications if the cunning ysoki accidentally deleted her contacts list…but when Fixit is done and hands back the datapad the gnome has a bit of a warm glow in her eyes and there is some polite applause by the surrounding audience.

”Thank you, and it is a pleasure Dr Kyber” Ykris makes an effort to include Jaxon in the conversation ”And yes, the Barathu are fascinating and I think there is a lot of work that could be done in studying that species to learn how their gifts might be opened up and shared with other species through ethical scientific innovations – cybernetically or through biotech augmentations. So nice to see the Society has so many bright and interested minds amongst their ranks”
”Interesting combination of outfit” he comments to Ceolor ”I assume normally wear something different with your armour?”

Medrick keeps a straight face as he eats the Eoxian Green jerky-bar, and aside from being overly manufactured and with a strange texture the food seems relatively inoffensive. ”Our friends at Bonebisco and the viewers all around the galaxy will be thrilled to know that dashing heroes from the Starfinder Society can reach for a pack of Green’s any time they need a snack right here and now, whether it is battle on a hostile planet or even relaxing in the drift. So for the viewers at home kid, why don’t you tell us about yourself? Are you a hot-shot pilot? An ace gunfighter? A lethal proponent of Kasathan martial arts? "Yes, bio-adaptations have become quite chic in some parts of the Pact Worlds. I once worked with a surgeon who was working with sarcesian to determine how their adaptation to space vacuum worked. Imagine if you could survive a vacuum without a space suit! Repairs crews could work on ships in space as easily as in dry dock. He was working to understand how their mucus glands sealed off vital organs to insulate from the vacuum. Now, working on how not to breathe would be even better."

Medrick smiles at the cameras, slightly uncomfortable with the situation. He is not one to be in front of cameras often. Me? well first and foremost, I am an emergency medic. When I am not exploring false moons or clearing out warehouses of winged monsters, I work on a ambulance shuttle picking up injured people around the station and I will apply emergency treatment while we head to the hospital. For the adventures, I focus on protecting my allies while using my handy Arc pistol. He flashes the gun in its holster to the camera.

Ceolor nods at Ykris's words. "Definitely more we could learn from that. Imagine being able to link with a person and share a single consciousness, much less being able to do it on a physical level too! And if we could create cybernetic devices that allowed you do mentally merge with some one wirelessly, it'd be useful for the Barathau as well, wouldn't it? They have to be in physical proximity with each other currently, but the enhancements would likely allow them to do it from a distance and, depending on their connection, possibly even great distances. And they could then better engage and interact with other species on a level they instinctively know! Oh, the possibilities! And that's just from a species within the Pact Worlds! Just imagine what we could find in the Drift!" Ceolor shakes his head a bit to clear it, having clearly gotten a little excited there.
Ceolor gets a pensive look in his eyes when Jaxon starts talking about being able to travel the void of space with out a space suit. "How wonderful that might be to be in the vacuum of space with out needing an heavy or cumbersome gear! I guess the stars have always interested me, it's probably why I started traveling in the first place."
Ceolor's pensive look immediately fades away at the mention of his outfit. With a bright, wolfish grin he responds to Ykris. "Oh, you noticed! I wore this in hopes it would help me stand out! You're right I normally don't pair my armor with this formal suit, but with a sensible shirt, vest and pair of pants. I also worked a small recording device into the left sleeve of the shirt that allows me to talk short verbal notes and brief videos about things I find. More and more I find I keep taking details about many of the creatures and species I find as much as about the locale and things that happen."
Ceolor then takes a moment to turn the conversation back onto Ykris. "How about you? You don't always stay with the half-elf host here, do you? Depending on how much of a physical strain it is, you must have other hosts you sometimes stay with." The man tries to find out more about how the parasitic reactions and the arrangements Ykris has with the half-elf or other hosts. Genuinely interested, he tries to be polite and stays non-judgmental about it.

Yes, I find it interesting the diversity not only of life in the universe, but of types of life!
His natural enthusiasm for the subject shows in his voice.
If you think about it, my soul's relation to my physical body mirrors your relation to your host. Each gains from the other and gives in return. But yours is, I assume, primarily physical while mine is primarily spiritual.
He catches himself, surprised.
But look at me, making assumptions! Bad scientist! We must always be aware of our own biases, don't we?

Markar sensing that the android isn't quite entralled by him, hears Zo's quite loud voice talk about 'Kasathan martial arts' and moves towards the media magnate.
He gives a short traditional bow towards him and says The Starfinders are a society that attracts the most accomplished adventurers. I myself, am but a fledgling initiate, both in the Starfinders and in the arts of Kastahan combat but I can demonstrate something that may be of interest
Markar asks for some space and draws his pike out of its scabbard on his back. He begins by bringing his two upper hands together in a mediative position while he spins slowly on the ball of one foot, using his lower hands to sweep an imaginary perfect circle onto the ballroom floor.
This done he goes into one of the traditional choreographed flows of movements, known as katas to some humans, staying perfectly within the bounds of the imaginary circle he drew at the start. Markar chooses a sequence of movements that isn't very hard to execute but is known to be flashy and impressive. It involves a lot of twirling the pike from one pair of arms to the other and leaping and somersaulting in time with the revolutions of the pike.

Fixit continues on, half demonstrating to the gnome, and half to the attentive audience the various fixes, patches, and software updates available. Bloatware is removed and everyone seems rather intrigued. The gnome grumbles a bit but seems appreciative ”I suppose it shows we have at least SOME talent in the new crop”

”So true! The potential to find a whole new concept of life and the opportunities for scientific discovery in the Drift is quite an amazing opportunity and certainly keeps me awake at night in wonder – the possibilities are just too exciting!”
”Bio adaptations are indeed one of my great interests, and as you suggest, giving humans the ability to ‘breathe’ in a vacuum or survive in a hostile environment opens up even more possibilities – and taking the best each species has to offer and finding a way to share it will also open up new avenues as a side product – I look forward to seeing what information Starfinders start bringing back”
”My host Jhireu and I have been together for some time now, and we are both happy with the relationship. I see no need to move to a new host, and so I do not”

Medrick shows off the weapon, but gets the feel that the Eoxian is looking for something with a bit more flashy and showy, and that want is immediately met by the arrival of Markar ”Look, REAL LIVE Kasathan Martial Arts!” the host declares to his viewers with wild enthusiasm ”Check out this real lethal weapon!” he continues ”This is the exact sort of thing you can expect in my upcoming show, and it looks like this pair come as a team too! One to bend ‘em, one to mend ‘em! This is terrific!” the Eoxian waits til the end of the demonstration then asks with a serious tone "So, fledgling initiate, is there someone special you’d like to give a shout out to?” and jams the mic into Markars face.

Tamon spies Royo momentarily alone as he goes for a new drink, and joins him, hoping to learn his interests with idle chitchat.
Good evening, sentient. You are named Royo, I hope? I have heard of you and would like to hear your thoughts on current events, if you don't mind.
Are you kind related to the rats I see in certain dark alleys? I find them fascinating creatures.
Tamon is blissfully ignorant of how insulted the distinguished Ysoki is getting.

Seeing the spotlight off of himself, Medrick isn't sure what to do. Is it rude to walk away? Do I need to excuse myself? It seems my fellow agent is what Zo! Is looking for... hopefully I made enough of an impression that he will still pick me for the next mission.
He sees Roya across the room with out a starfinder wowing him and knows he is a scholarly type. Maybe that is someone I can talk to . He walks over and realizes his fellow android had the same thought. Then he heard what Tamon said Are you serious! Clearly someone never took a class on cultural sensitivity! How can I remedy this? He ponders it a moment If only I picked up my teaching on bedside manners better. I know how to not offend but not how to calm people. I guess I can just try talking to him and change the subject.
Medrick goes back to remember what Roya studies. Anolog media... does that mean newspapers? Well if he is anything like my professors they love chatting about their field. Maybe that will distract him.
He approaches Roya Hello Roya! I am Medrick, one of the new recruits for the society. I hope you find everything to your liking at this party. So I overheard you enjoy anolog media. All that comes to mind is newspaper. Would you mind having a conversation with me about what you mean by that?

I dedicate this service to the First Seeker of the Starfinders. Luwazi Elsebo. She is a human of honour and conviction who will lead the Starfinders to regain what was lost and even beyond. Whatever strength and ability I have I will dedicate to supporting her cause Markar says seriously and with his own conviction shining strongly through the Idari accent of his Common.

"Ah, yes, you are in a symbiotic relationship with your host, am I correct? Does each of you contribute to your overall knowledge? For example, can you call up Jhireu's memories? Or can he communicate with you while you are attached?"
"I've heard of recent drugs that are supposed to ease any discomfort when...'joining', is that the term? I'd be interested in how this works. Is this process painful at all? Did Jhireu choose this joining or perhaps was he trained for it?"

Sensing that perhaps the Gnome has had enough of him playing with her data pad, the ysoki tries a slightly different tack but one he hopes will play to her seemingly technologically inclined mind.
Fixit looks around at the crowd he has apparently gathered ”I don’t want to seem like I’m showing off here...”
He pauses as he briefly considers to himself ...although that does seem to be the point of this whole exercise...
...but I might be able to do something with that as well” he finishes off as he points to Naiaj’s wrist mounted comm unit.

Fixit just keeps rolling on with the floorshow, at this point clearly having a positive effect on the audience and demonstrating the value Starfinders can bring with their can-do skillset. There is further polite applause, and whilst Fixit hasn’t really managed a whole lot of interaction with Naiaj, the clever technician has certainly made a great impression.

Royo wears immaculate formalwear about 20 years out of date; his tawny fur is beginning to go silver around his whiskers and paws. He wears elegant spectacles, having refused corrective surgeries due to the hours or even days in which he would be unable to read following such a procedure. Tucked beneath one arm is a small folio of physical paper. He stands among a circle of scholars engaged in an exuberant discussion of esoteric topics.
Medrick and Tamon join the conversation, however their line of questioning and curious observations don’t go over terribly well. There are a few polite coughs, and the conversation brusquely resumes past them. It is obvious he is talking with fellow scholars and professionals.

”My host Jhireu and I have a warm and mutually beneficial relationship, and he is free to come of go as he pleases. Symbiotic would certainly be a kinder word, though I rely on my host where as my host doesn’t rely on me, so perhaps parasitic might be more accurate.” the hosts elven eyes refocus for a moment and you can see Jhireu is back in autonomous control ”It was only a little uncomfortable at the start, but after that it just becomes a remote awareness. I am honoured to be the host for such an important entity, and pleased to continue the relationship” with that, he cedes control once more. The eyes urn on Jaxon ”If you are truly that curious, I am willing to attach myself to you if you’d wish, for science of course, that you may get a first-hand understanding”

Zo! looks a bit confused as the question was clearly about some sort of ‘special person’ who might be a hook for the viewers, and probably less about a glowing tribute to the boss, still he smiles on ”Yeah, umm, we will certainly need to speak to her about getting some people on the show, and some waivers to participate in my upcoming production… “ he turns back to the camera ”So what do think out there viewers? If you saw some x-factor here tonight, make sure you leave your comments” with that, the red blinking eye stops and the host takes a moment to refresh.

It is about two hours into the night, halfway by your accounts, and Luwazi Elsebo casually summons you up to the stage to converse with her quietly.
”How do you all think you are getting along? It looks like Ykris is a fan, Naiaj is defrosting and Zo! looks like he’s being won over – but why is Royo making disapproving fleeting glances this way?”

I spoke to Royo recently. Perhaps he is annoyed that I am no longer speaking with him?
He moves to continue that line of inquiry, but is distracted by Naiaj and his multiple gadgets.
Good evening, fellow sentient. I see you have the latest software patch on your jTab 403c. I'm interested in your opinion of the new Infosphere functions. I find the reverse news crawl intriguing, but I suspect that the inverted facial disturbance filter is at best a niche market service. What do you think?
He continues to talk about technology and the Infosphere, having read an article recently that indicated that most people like to talk about themselves more than they like to listen.

Ceolor gives a smile at Ykris' self-effacing words. "I guess in a purely biological sense, symbiotic would not be appropriate, but considering the everything you can provide him, I doubt you could say you are 'parasitic.'"
Ceolor spends a few minutes more chatting with Ykris, before finding a good point to break it off. "I'm sorry, I've been keeping your attention all night, you must have wanted to talk to more people than just me and Dr. Kyber, right? I'd be absolutely overjoyed to keep conversing about this at a later time, if you want to exchange contact information, if not then I wish you a pleasant time for the rest of your evening. Oh would you look at that, our leader is calling us over!"

Ceolor considers Luwazi's warnings bout Royo with a frown. "I'm not sure what caused the ysoki's dour mood, but I don't know if there is much i can do to help. Physical media and the physical sciences aren't really my speciality, and all of the novels and books I've read and written probably won't appeal to the man. I'll try swinging by at somepoint tonight though..."

Ceolor moves up to Zo! and notices that the Elebrian's camera is off. He moves in, asking about the camera politely. "Some of my friends said you are interested in seeing displays of abilities. Can I try showing you what I've got?"
Ceolor strikes a pose for the camera and smiles. "Well, theres a few different things I can do. First, i can call on this little guy"[b] With this he gives a snap of his fingers and his little floating ball of pure black floats pops into existance behind his left shoulder. [b]... to help protect me, of course!" Ceolor then reaches over to the small ball and grabs a hold of if with his right hand, before drawing his hand across his shoulder. The ball stays in place, however, just streaching out instead. The red-skinned man then flicks the streching black orb around his shoulders like a scarf. The black substance starts to thin and become slightly translucent as it slowly stretches to the floor. It stopes a few inches short of the floor, creating a long, slightly see-through cloak.
"Oh, but taht's not all, I'm also pretty fast" Ceolor then takes off his gun and sets it on the table near the recording device, and makes a big show of streching out beofore setting up at the south wall. "Alright give me a count down!" When signaled, Ceolor rushes across the floor, hops over the first table with his gun and the camera, rushes forward across the second table touches the other wall, before turning back around and sliding into place behind the table, trying to strike a pose, barely even out of breath.
He holds out one hand nochalantly to one side and gives a whistle. The gun that was on the table next to the camera suddenly materializing in his hands. "So what'd you think?"

Royo seems to wish to interact with the more academic of the Starfinders from what I have overheard Markar says shaking his head as he speaks with the First Seeker. Physics and Biology perhaps might interest him. I regret that I have no expertise in either. Would anybody else know of such things? Otherwise would any other of the guests be interested in shows of physical experitse?

Medrick hangs his head in shame, I believe it maybe my fault he is not happy with us. I made myself out to be a fool when I went to talk with him. I can try again though.
Medrick strides back to the scholarly conversation, with confidence that he can make things better.
Sorry for either, I am a learned person. I just am uneducated in your area of expertise. I figured you were the right person to talk to about learn from but I seem to be mistaken. Would you rather have a discussion about the physical sciences?

Jaxon looks excited at the offer to join with Ykris, even for a moment, but he sees the other Starfinders mingling and he is reminded of his task here. "I would like that very much, but perhaps this isn't the best venue. It seems to be that an experience like that should be done is a less public place. Perhaps after the gathering? Feel free to come find me." He gives a small bow and removes himself from the conversation.
The doctor joins Markar in conversation with Iteration-177. "Yes, and the Kasatha bring a whole different concept of tribal medicine with them from their homeland. Much different than our indigenous two-armed perspective. I once has a long evening with a Kasathan healer who told me how their history of star-faring influenced their views on medicine." Jaxon proceeds to explain how some of the Kasathan medical ethos derived from life on ships.
The second half of the night continues on. The DJ changes the music up a little, still just background noise, but slightly more upbeat – all the better for keeping the wine flowing and the mood upbeat as the guests get further into their conversations.

The android seems pleased to get back to mingling with some Starfinders again, ”You all seem very enthusiastic about Kasathan culture, customs, and practices – is this perhaps linked to some new join Kasathan –Starfinder initiative? I’m intrigued. I can’t say I am completely across the Kasathans, but it is good to know the Society has such knowledgeable and worldly members. “

Tamon now takes centre stage, initiating a conversation around the Infospehere whilst Fixit contributes form the side. Naiaj tunes out as she watches her newsfeeds and messages scroll past – messages coming in at a rapid pace, she mumbels something abour “the shipment from the drow on Apostae.” then returns to the the conversation ”Dealing with Drow ambassadors is not a pleasant task” she grumbles with a finality that suggests she wont discuss it further, then she listens back in. You get the impression that she is quite approving of the team based approach to the presentation and conversation Fixit and Tamon appear to be leading.

There is a little bit of blinking as Medrick steps back into the circle of people around Royo, but his change of approach seems to have been the right direction "Yes, yes, we were just discussing the viability returning to larger scale refinement of thasteron on Akiton, whilst the fuel has largely been made redundant due to Drift tech, perhaps there is still some place for it in alternative industries…”

As Jaxon ad Ceolor move away to mingle, Ykris suggests that you’d be quite welcome to take up the offer for a joining at a later date. ”It has certainly been all my pleasure – so enjoyable to meet open minded and intelligent lifeforms”

Zo! Switches the camcorder back on after his ‘short break and messages from our sponsors’ and his intently focussed interest falls on to the newcomer ”Wow, would you check THIS guy out!” he exclaims overly enthusiastically, and upon hearing Ceolors suggestion he looks ecstatic ”Take it away kid ,let’s see some move… MAGIC… HAS THIS KID GOT MAGIC!?” he exclaims to the camera then spins it back around to take in the show, the red light of the ‘cam flashing away expectantly as Ceolor takes his acrobatic run – the crowd all stopping to watch the floorshow, and when it concludes there is warm applause (and you overhear comments about the quality of tonights entertainment) Ceolor returns to find Zo! Completely over-selling the whole thing to the viewers …and that’s just a taste of what we’ll be seeing, that and REAL LIVE gunfights no doubt!”
Zo! then begins getting some more vox pop conversations going with the guests and continues to mingle.

This one here will adjust your lighting dynamically in response to your mood, just by gauging your skin tone and temperature. I find that when my lights turn dark red I catch myself, take a deep breath, and go for a relaxing walk. It really helps to avoid excessive stress.
I have not dealt with any Drow ambassadors yet, but I imagine your lights might be some hue in the magenta spectrum right now.

Quite a complex issue! Well that fuel may have limited use in the pact worlds, but it could make a nice bargaining chip for dealing with less developed planets who can not go into the drift yet. Umm umm I can not think of other options. what was your thoughts?

"Actually, I just read something about a researcher attempting to use thasteron as a heating fuel. It requires significant refinement, but the results were promising. If the research pans out, investing in refineries on Akiton could become very profitable."
Now in his element, Tamon continues to regale Naiaj with tales of interesting services to add to the latest model jPad.

Fascinating! I read a scholarly article last week that suggested a viable fuel source could be created from the gravitational well of a binary star system. The only issue is storage and delivery, but that might be alleviated via use of a pair of Drift engines locked in the orbital tidal null zones. The problem they haven't solved yet is how to avoid intra-orbital magnetic drift...

Ceolor's usual smile drops for a second remembering the less than ideal conditions of home, before he shakes his head and brings a smile to his face. "Op. I'd just been saying I shouldn't mention home at such a forward-looking event! Apologies for my rudeness... One of the assignments I had been on, though had us tracking down a man who was using a somewhat faulty magic item to transmute Thasteron into a viable fuel source. It was only an illusion, but it makes me wonder if it's something that might be possible; if we could change it into a different substance or use it in a different way."

Scientists at the Castrovel Institute for Science and Magic (a small school, but a prestigious one) think they may be on to a new style of Drift engine, one that does away with the randomized nature of the temporal element of Drift travel.
Can you imagine having the same trip take the same amount of time every time?

I don't know that I believe it yet. I'll need to see some proof of concept. But it is an interesting idea, don't you think?

"Interesting. Drift travel without randomized time? That would be a huge boon. I wonder if the crystaline structure of Thasteron has something to do with it. It's a very stable structure when magnetically crystalized instead of organically crystalized. Very stable, but with odd harmonics. If you could somehow apply that to the Drift process...hmm, well I dont know, but I bet it would be an interesting result."

Ceolor's eyes start glazing over as the talk starts to move into deep theoretical territory, where he has none of the tools he needs to understand much less comment on the talk happening around him. Politely excusing himself, he moves over to join Markar and Fixit with Iteration-177. He spends a second talking with the two other Starfinders to see if they have any advice on what topics might interest the android.
Ceolor moves into the circle of people near the handsome android, and waits for an appropriate moment to introduce himself. "Hello there, I'm Ceolor! I'm trying to get around to introducing myself to everyone of note here tonight. You must be Iteration-177! It's nice to meet you. If I may, I'm quite curious as to what the 177 stands for, it seems an interesting number choice..."
After a few minutes of small talk, Ceolor guides the conversation around to talking about the Society. "Recently it has admittedly hit some rough patches, but we're still able to achieve some great things. I mean my last mission we caught an inter-planet thief who'd stolen an artifact from us. I've herad plenty of other rumors about some amazing missions people have been on as well, for example my friend Asier just finished going to...."
