Eclipse restores a fraction of power to the deck, and even manages to power some cameras. There seems to be two small humans hiding on the images shown by one of the camera.
In the first room of the deck, scattered barrels and boxes line the lowered floor of this storage chamber. A thick bulkhead to the port side leads farther onto the deck, while a similar bulkhead to the aft connects to an arterial hallway that runs the length of the deck.
This is the room where the camera showed the two small humans
This storage room is in a somewhat haphazard state—as if a small, terrified alien had rushed through it.
He-who-grinds-blades-to-dust |
The Blade Grinder tries to float overhead of where the two small humans were and tries t scare them!
Intimidate: 1d20 ⇒ 13
'Draken' |
Draken winces as Grinder goes on the scare against the children and rushes forwards into the room towards the boxes and crates they hide behind. "Now now! No need for that!" he hisses at the Haan, rolling his eyes as he turns to the hiding children. "No need to fret children, my name is Draken, what's your names? Can you tell us what happened here?"
[dice=diplomacy] d20 + d6 + 7 [\dice]
'Draken' |
Darn. Too late to edit so:
diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (20) + 7 + (3) = 30
DM Kludde |
You found us! We were so scared, the lights when out and.. the first child says, when the second makes a sshhh sound.
We better tell them.. the first says, but the second kid looks frightened. Yes, we should, the first says, these people look like they want to help us.
The kid finally explains: We were down here when the lights went out and.. the kid hesitates, happy feet escaped. He is naughty and moves around a lot. We tried to capture, so you should be careful when you enter the next room. There's a trap there, but I can help you disable it.
Happy feet is nice, you should hurt him
3d4 ⇒ (1, 1, 4) = 6
'Draken' |
Draken keeps the easy smile on his face, just like when faced with paparazzi and other such slimes of the media. "Good, thankyou children. Now, who is 'happy Feet' a friend of yours, a pet? Did he run off before the lights went out?" At the mention of the trap, he shakes his head. "Now why would you do something Like that eh? Yes please, remove it and we will get your friend back safely. Perhaps you should run along."
DM Kludde |
Shouldn't hurt him, indeed
He is friendly, yes, but he can be really curious. He never hurt us...
He-who-grinds-blades-to-dust |
The blande grinder klacks his mandibles in frustration and shoves Draken forward More work for you, rassssey
Eclipse-22 |
"If the brats aren't going to get rid of this trap...I will." Eclipse says getting impatient.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
If I find the trap.
Engineering: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
He tinkers around trying to undue whatever "Home Alone" contraption they have rigged so they can nab this alien before it does anymore damage.
Pangea-Kappa |
Kappa looks at the children, having no idea how to interact with young ones.
I just came off the assembly line myself, no childhood...
'Draken' |
I assume they remove it? I did ask...
Draken smiles broadly to the children, turning to a wince as Grinder shoves him, but he quickly recovers. "Yes, now you remove your contraption and we won't raise this mischief with Fitch." he states, keeping his voice cheery to avoid causing the children any further distress, and, more importantly any crying.
With the contraption removed, Draken strides through the door with a confidence he hardly felt.
DM Kludde |
The children meekly help find the trap, and Eclipse disables it without much fuss.
This next area consists of two adjoining chambers. Four large containment capsules fill the fore room, three of which hold stasis-locked objects, including a tablet, a strange curved sword, and an odd spiral of bioluminescent coral. A crack leaks fluid from the fourth capsule, which displays a foot-wide breach near the bottom. The aft room contains several desks, each hosting a deactivated computer terminal.
There is no sign of the creature that is wreaking havoc on this deck.
Some of the vents are half-open, and there's tracks on the wall, from a many-legged creature. It might be in a pipe somewhere.
You can climb into the vent with an athletics check, or control the vents and try to flush the creature out with a computers check
Pangea-Kappa |
Survival: 1d20 ⇒ 9
Kappa shrugs... not seeing anything.
The android checks out the crack, the breach: did something escape, eat its way out?
'Draken' |
survival: 1d20 ⇒ 15
Thanking the children before stepping into the next room, Draken looks around the room and examines the contents of the containers to see if there is any hint of what they were looking for. Unfortunately he saw very little of value.
"So, we need a Bloodhound, your move Grinder!"
He-who-grinds-blades-to-dust |
The Blade Grinder hits the floor and begins to search closely for signs...
Survival: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
DM Kludde |
You can try a computers check to control the moving parts in the room, or you can try to crawl the vents using an athletics check
Pangea-Kappa |
Kappa looks at the vents... "Crawl into that? Really...?"
'Draken' |
Draken looks to his companions before making his way to one of the computer desks and waiting for it to boot up in such a low powered area. As soon as it does so, Draken messes with the programs to see if there is a way to control the area's sensors to find their little stowaway or to change vents to block them in...
Computers: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Pangea-Kappa |
Pangea gives it a try, sighing--
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
--but it has problems getting its hands on the opening, let alone lifting itself.
The android gives up and mumbles: "Sorry..."
DM Kludde |
Draken manages to release some steam into the vents, flushing out whatever hides inside. Out crawl a curious, semi-sentient centipede-like creature - nothing like anyone has ever seen before. It fidgets and tinkers continuously, and immediate presses all buttons on a nearby dropped console in rapid succession.
You can make culture, life science and mysticism checks to try to communicate with the creature
Pangea-Kappa |
Culture: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Kappa waves to the creature, and, seeing it type away like mad on buttons, the Android types away on its communicator, making sounds and such, trying to see if the critter picks up on sequences.
Eclipse-22 |
Culture (Aid): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Eclipse eyes the other android and starts helping with a sigh.
Whatever let's us catch this thing faster, right? It isn't cute...at all...no way!
He kneels down next to Kappa and starts typing on his typing on his companions screen too. Hoping it lures it over to type on the communicator and they can nab it.
"Alright, this is a little fun." he says quietly.
'Draken' |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
culture, aid: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Startled by the steam pouring from the vents, Draken spins as the creature emerges from their hiding place, eyes widening at it's alien appearance. He had never seen the like before, but he immediately tried to work out the best ways in which to communicate with them. Moving slowly, he attempts to aid the Pangaea Android's attempts.
DM Kludde |
Pangea manages to communicate with the alien, be it at a superficial level. Happy feet - the centipede-like creature sure has a lot - seem to trust the android, and merrily taps along with the combinations that he proposes.
Meanwhile the area starts filling with a dense fog coming from the vents. The place is getting hotter, though nothing seems hazardous at this moment. It makes things a bit hard to see, though.
I need a life science or mysticism check to convince the creature to come along, or a culture check by anyone but Pangea
Pangea-Kappa |
Pangea is rather happy at being able to communicate with a sentient, it thinks: Good programming!
'Draken' |
Whilst Pangaea soothes the alien creature, Draken wracka his brain in a way to communicate without a shared tongue. Using non-verbal communications and slow movements, Draken holds out his hands to prove they are bare, before reaching for food in a pouch on his hip. Holding it out carefully, he smiles at 'Happy Feet'.
culture: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
DM Kludde |
The creature smiles happily and seems ready to follow the party out of the hold. With the disturbance gone, restoring power to the E-deck is rather easy.
After travelling back to Fitch, the Ysoki seems pleased, Well done is bringing back this alien alive, and not harming it. I have a special Xenobiology team that will be very interested in communicating with this guy. I believe the children can be of help as well, they are so much quicker in learning new communication methods.
Congratulations of a job well done, he concludes, dismissed!
Five minutes later, the group gets a message from Guidance, summoning the party back to the lorespire complex. A holographic message from Guidance - presenting herself as a Lashunta this time - states Congratulations on your initiation. The starfinder Society values all new agents, and we see great potential in your group. Welcome to a new career as a Starfinder agent!
The message ends with a short musical jingle, which sounds awfully familiar by now. The craze made it all the here...
This is the end of the scenario. Please roll you day jobs if you haven't done so already, and enter the results into the table on the handout. I will prepare special chronicles, and post them here when ready.

That's a pity. I would've loved if at least someone got something for the nice effort you made.
From my side, this was a thoroughly enjoyable game. I was on a short break to South Korea, and visited a k-pop show just about the same time as the SMC bit came up. I had a lot of inspiration to draw from :-). Thanks a lot for your participation!
Pangea-Kappa |
Thanks a lot!
Yay, victory!
I imagine I took 10 w. day job for a roll of 22 (10+12) and thus 44 Cr.
DM Kludde |
Everyone rolled day job already. Good! I've posted the chronicles below. As promised, each comes with a special SMC photocard!
'Draken' |
Cheers! I echo, such a cool postcard!
