From my reading fo the CRB, you dont move to an individual gun mount. you are using a gunners's station whych lets you control any of the ships guns, though each weapon can only be fired once during a round and your actions are limited to those in the handout which I belive include:
1. fire any single weapon
2. 'Fire at will' - fire any two weapons at a -4 penalty to each as a single actions

@Zhri, Obozata has to wait until the 'Gunnery Phase' (Phase 3) then can choose one weapon to fire that has not yet been fired by another player that round.

We are still in the Engineering Phase (Phase 1) at the moment.

Thanks! The opening crawl is based on a script that you can easily clone and make your own version of, in case you're interested.

I only just started the run, and I haven't run it before (I did the quests and 1-01 up until now). It's weird prepping, I'm trying not to read what happens beyond where we are now.

Besides my frequent screw ups (which would be fixed with more experience, and with getting into the habit of making changes to the stats in one place... I kept changing in the post and forgetting to change in my offline notes, etc so I'd cut and paste bad data back in... in any case)

I think the way we were doing it towards the end worked well. But perhaps including round numbers for clarity as opposed to 'this round', 'last round', 'next round.

Or mandating that people post twice a day during space combat and if not allow another player to bot as we are all in the same boat so to say.

Agreed with MorphiusLink, especially because I know there were moments where I wasn't able to get online when I intended to so I fell behind (like this last round). I don't think there's a role where it would be problematic to bot.

I think you nailed it, especially towards the end. Having the different positions (before and after) really helped. I'm running space combat by resolving a single turn at once, with everybody posting their actions. At the start, I make a piloting roll, and give the position in case the pilot beats my check. That setup comes at the risk of some metagaming (because the captain may already know whether encouraging helps or not), but I'll take that if it makes the experience better.

If you want to be stricter about turn order, you can cut the turn at the piloting phase, as follows:

etc.

It's a matter of preference. It's a one-post-per-turn setup, and I find it helps keep the pace.

As for the turn being messy and confusing: it never was confusing to me. It really helped that you called out who were up, so it was always clear to me when I should act.

And it's space combat! It's supposed to be confusing! There a big freaking alien vessel pointing its five petajoule laser blaster at your cockpit, and if you make one false zig where you should have zagged, you get sucked into space!

What I did when I ran this combat:

I got the impression my players were a bit bored (posting rates dropped quite a bit), and it was clear the goblin ships were no issue. Once they took half of them down, the other two miraculously malfunctioned and blew up :-)


Yeah... I considered just killing them off early when I started playing them right and realized they were no match.

The other thing I might do is post all the current stats in the google doc, so they are only ever posted in one place...

In a campaign I might try to spice up the space combat by having other things going on... like instead of just a glitch with some minuses, a fire erupts and you have to decide whether you want to deal with that now, or do your normal role, etc

Just re-reading back through the earlier sections of the encounter, and noticed that we were talking about some audio recordings in the wreckage of the archer. Maybe we should keep looking around the crash site to see if we can get anything else from teh archer before we head down below.

It's made up for the scenario. Bago kicking, slapping, and biting him is represented with the "entangled" condition.

It's a database plus a nodejs app I created myself. It's still very rough around the edges, and takes a lot of manual entry. I don't have easy access to scanners and printers, so it's one of the options I have.

Let me see if I can make it available at some point - someone with better html skills than me may be able to make it a bit nicer.

Chronicle looks good. Thanks for the game, I enjoyed this a lot! Navasi is a pretty cool pregen character too, nice background fluff.
