Chk'tarlsh |
Chk'tarlsh searches the scrap heaps looking for any useful looking parts.
Perception: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Aldane |
Since the rest of the team does not answer for a few days, I will continue to play.
Aldane continues to look for pieces all around to speed up Junkracer.
Engineering: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
SFS GM Z..D.. |
Aldane's first two attempts to the junk yard are unsuccessful endeavors.
Aldane can take two more rolls, I will let you know if they are successes
@Raial, who are you attempting to diplomacize
Chk is unable to find anything salvagable...You get three more rolls.
SFS GM Z..D.. |
The lashunta replies back telepathically, Why thank you. What can I help you with> And why are you by my racer?"
Chk'tarlsh |
Antennae waving in irritation, Chk'tarlsh begins searching for parts in a different location.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Chk'tarlsh |
To save some time and back-and-forth, I figured I'd just make the 2 remaining rolls now as well.
Chk'tarlsh continues his search of the scrap piles.
Perception 3: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Perception 4: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Vandor Draak |
While Charlie and Al are tinkering with Laboni's racer, Vandor saunters over to Ratrod's pit. (Investgating the Enemy (1 action))
"So, you're the Ratrod fellow I've been hearing about, word is you've got quite the junk racer. Must be a little nervous before this race though huh? Losing to Laboni might cost you more than a little bit of that hard earned rep with the Salvage Union."
Sense Motive (with Skill Expertise): 1d20 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (19) + 4 + (1) = 24
Alexander Caslan |
Sorry for not posting regularly. Internet's been messed up for the past few days.
Alexander takes his time to check up on other parts of the ship but doesn't seem to be of great help.
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 1
SFS GM Z..D.. |
Aldane is stall having no luck messing with the racer.
Chk however, finally comes across something that may help out.
Ok, you get one upgrade for the racer
Ratrod looks up to Vandor from his engine, "A loss to a wannabe, doubt it." Ratrod looks around nervously for a moment.
Vandor, you can follow up with an intimidate
Alexander 3 rounds left
Vandor 3 rounds left
Raial still talking with first check
SFS GM Z..D.. |
You're correct, did get something. I was looking under a the diplomacy skill still. You may select an upgrade.
Chk'tarlsh |
Chk'tarlsh emerges from one of the junk piles, grinning broadly, a stabiliser held proudly over head.
Upgrade: +1 to piloting, please.
Dr. J. J. Mortimer |
now the boards don't like me posting (took almost 5 min to post the last post, anyway what is still needed? really hate to just dumb it down to dice rolls but if it will simply move things along I can
Alexander Caslan |
Alexander is just going to look around for parts to help in upgrading the racer.
Alexander continues to find more items to help in upgrading the racer.
Perception 1: 1d20 ⇒ 19
Perception 2: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Perception 3: 1d20 ⇒ 11
Chk'tarlsh |

the last post on the previous page has all the options and appropriate skill checks :)
Dr. J. J. Mortimer |
As parts are found and installation is needed Mortimer works with what he can to improve the racer.
never was much for racing, but since you managed to get into this mess, might as well do what I can to help get you out. he turns to Rex, Rex, see if you can scrounge up a trilateral phase reversal module. I'll do what I can here perhaps a little molecular realignments could work.
Rex responds as he usually does and heads off to search the junk pile.
rex perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18
J.J. engineering: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18 (looking for a +1 piloting modifier)
Vandor Draak |
Vandor smiles evilly at Ratrod and does his best to sound menacing. "Hate to break it to you short stuff, but the Starfinder Society has sent in a crack team of some of their best engineers. And they're led by one of the handsomest agents to ever join the ranks." Vandor smiles dashingly and the light just happens to catch his teeth in such a way that they seem to sparkle. "I'm afraid your time at the top of the junk heap is over, maybe you should be more careful who you challenge in the future."
Intimidate: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Vandor has good social skills, he could try and form alliances with some of the other racers, while you guys work on improving Laboni's racer. So far, unless I've missed something, we've improved speed and piloting but I don't believe we have added any weapons or AC bonuses yet.
Chk'tarlsh |
Haha nice one Vandor!
You're spot on - not missed anything. I've not experienced vehicle chases yet so I could be missing something, but from reading over the rules, those piloting DCs are going to be reasonably high, even more so if hit with the -4 due to being shot. That was my thoughts with selecting the piloting upgrade anyhow. Happy to hear others with more experience chime in though.
Dr. J. J. Mortimer |

Mortimer isn't that handsome but thanks for the compliment
Vandor Draak |
Mortimer isn't that handsome but thanks for the compliment
Nice one JJ. Haha.
I'll also post my next action now, just to move things along as quickly as possible.
Feeling that Ratrod is sufficiently intimidated Vandor next heads over to Lemgen's garage.
"Hm. Maybe a different strategy this time."
Attempt to convince Lemgen to "overclock" her engine
He checks out the gnomes' junkracer and whistles appreciatively. "Wow Lemgen, this is one sweet looking ride. I love the mods, some people might say it's to much, but not me. Very impressive." He examines the engine, pretending to know anything about engines. "You know, I'll bet if you rerouted your thermal couplers directly through your flux capacitator you could increase this baby's mass effect drive by 10 percent. 15 maybe."
Bluff with Skill Expertise: 1d20 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (19) + 7 + (2) = 28
SFS GM Z..D.. |
Ratrod interaction "What? Get out, get out. I will be on top. You'll see!" Ratrod will get situational penalties and bonuses in the race due to this interaction
The gnome looks up at Vandor from under her engine, "You don't say?" She then scurries around and then climbs on top and starts to unplug something and re position it to another port. "Like that" She ask, hoping to get an approval from Vandor. No other check needed for Lemgem. Something will happen with that success.
Alexander gets one upgrade for the racer
JJ got a success and can get the upgrade. Has 3 more checks to make. Rex can only aid in this task.
Vandor has two successes and has 2 more actions
Raial needs to finish first check and needs three more
Lemgem-Bluffed
will be modifying you junk racer on the slide to include bonuses.
Alexander Caslan |
Alexander hands Laboni a telescope-like apparatus. "Here, attach this to whatever weapon your racer has and it'll improve your aim."
+1 to attack modifier please
Dr. J. J. Mortimer |
With the racer coming together lets see if we can optimize these interface circuits, we just may be able to squeeze a bit more out of this.
looking to Rex, try to patch into the system lets try and reroute the system commands to optimize things
affirmative mater Rex responds as his little antennae connects to the racer's data port.
Rex computers assist: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Mortimer computers: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25 -- +5 to speed
SFS GM Z..D.. |
The good doctor manages to find another way to send more power to the engine.
Another success.Racer updated.
SFS GM Z..D.. |
The lashunta replies back telepathically, Why thank you. What can I help you with> And why are you by my racer?"
Here was you reply.
It was a success, but I have no idea what you were trying to achieve by her comment.Vandor Draak |
So, I posted this already, but accidentally double posted, so I deleted one of the posts but for some reason both got deleted. Not sure what happened???. But for the sake of honesty, the Culture check roll in my original post was actually (3)+5=8, so you should probably go by that number.
Vandor moves on to Nyizin's garage.
"Nyizin, I understand that you recently lost your dragonkin partner, I understand what an important bond that is for your people. I want you to know that while my team and I intend to do everything in our power to help Laboni win today, we all hope that if we don't finish in first that it will be you instead. I just hope that you don't intend to follow your comrade to the grave! Some of these mods you have installed look dangerous!"
Culture: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 Oh, look at that, same roll anyway
SFS GM Z..D.. |
The Ryphorian growls low in her throat and moves away, "Save your false sympathies for some one who actually wants them."
Vandor has 1 more check
JJ has 2
Dr. J. J. Mortimer |
physical science: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14 -- (another +5 speed)
Mortimer starts to notice something in the design, hoping to make the alterations to allow a more efficient fuel distribution, its basic fluid dynamics really.
rex assist computers: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
JJ computers: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
with the necessary mods compete Mortimer has rex re-route some secondary logarithms and shut unnecessary ones down. Mortimer then activates and test those circuits.
last check is a computers check to add +1 attack modifier
Vandor Draak |
Vandor uses his last action to look around for a kinetic weapon to add to Laboni's racer.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

The lashunta agrees to help you with some tips on how to remotely pilot the racer. +2 to piloting
As the race gets closer to starting time. The racers bring their machines out to the starting lines. Lemgem in her spherical machine, Velocity in their sleek racer. The heavily armed one belongs to Nyizian. And Orsis brings out a bulky monstrosity. Laboni moves hers into the fifth spot, right next to Ratrods.
A round in this race is broken down into two phases. First phase is the attack. Each person may fire one of the weapons. Laboni only has one weapon, so only one person may fire it. You make a ranged attack roll modified by the value in the stat block provided on slide 4
Phase 2. Once every one has fired, each pilot must make a DC 16 piloting check, again modified by what is in the stat block. Failure means you collide into the sides and move only half speed. If you fail by more than 10, you are stuck for the round.
With that said, since their is only one weapon and one piloting spot. I will allow two aides each and the same person can not aide for both weapon phase and pilot phase. It is one or the other. So discuss among yourselves who will be primary on the rolls
The announcer pumps up the crowd as the racers fires up their engines one by one. The light change from red to yellow and the engines rev higher, then a loud explosion rings out from Lemgems racer, as the other racers take off from the line.
"OOOOHHHH, Lemgem is out of the race. It looks like a blown engine."
Phase 1
Your targets are as follows.
Velocity-Sleek Junkracer
Nyizian-Well Armed Junkracer
Orsis-Bulky Junkracer
Ratrod-Highly Customized Junk Racer
Chk'tarlsh |
Chk'tarlsh's antennae twitch rapidly in anticipation as the excited buzz of the spectacle washes over him.
He throws his hands up and cheers as the racers accelerate away from the starting line.
Chk'tarlsh is happy to attack (+4), aid the attack or aid the piloting (+3).
Vandor Draak |
Vandor's Piloting is +5, but ranged attack is only +1. He's likely best off assisting Piloting if anyone has a better modifier than 5 there.
Alexander Caslan |
Alexander will take the piloting spot if no one objects.
Chk'tarlsh |
No objection here.
Dr. J. J. Mortimer |
Mortimer is not to bad of a pilot and can to well to aid Alex, Rex has a ranged attack of +4 but can a drone be used to make the attack?
