Albans pores over the data streaking across his terminal. "You know, I trained to be a Steward for a time? I washed out, hard, obviously. Could you imagine me enforcing the rules? Pah!"

Realizing that he's gone off topic, he rubs his chin and says, "Anyways. Point is, I never had the mind for strategy needed to be an officer, but even I can tell that if we don't kill that station's drone bays we're going to die swimming in drones and I'll never get paid. Ruuk, Asier, I'm going to run some diagnostics and route the results to your targeting systems. Might give us a better chance of cutting those drones off at the source."

Asier realizes at the last second that the programing for the gunnery system and Suzuta are incompatible. Frowning slightly, he calls up Ruuk. "You did not tell me that this ship had a custom operating system. If it was Doors or even a Pear product, Suzuta could interact with it. Well, no worries, I can make do without her help."

He then switches channels to the captain as he jumps into a new targeting bay and starts the systems in it, pulling on the computers for some targeting help. "Affirmative, Captain! If I keep shooting the platform will go down faster!"

As the data from Albans' diagnostics starts to filter in, Asier finally devotes the channel to him. "I can confirm that data, Albans! I agree taking the source of the extra drones out first would be a sexy- smart move."

The android then takes a moment and a deep breath to center himself and fires at the station.

Engineering Phase
Alice 002 tries to divert more power to the weapon system, but the engineering system hiccups as if stuck on a glitch (or perhaps a remnant curse brought over by another android). Meanwhile, the orbital platform must have diverted some power to its shields system, when you see some of the starboard shields be restored.

Helm Phase
Albans hacks into the orbital platform's computers, and inserts a self-destructive bug in the drone launcher system. Eli pilots the Sunrise Maiden in a loop, coming up behind both the enemy ships, while taking evasive actions.

The orbital platform simply flies forward, as if to put more distance between it and the Starfinders, similarly taking evasive actions. The drone simply weaves back and forth about the spot.

Gunnery Phase
Ruuk opens fire with the turret particle beam, but the orbital platform manages to evade the blast. Asier-23-7 fires with the front gyrolaser, but despite Madrigal's encouragement, the platform similarly manages to dodge out of the way.

The drone swivels its turret's light laser cannon at the Sunrise Maiden and opens fire. Eli's amazing flying though takes the Starfinder ship out of the enemy fire.

Meanwhile, yet another drone emerges from the rear of the orbital platform. (yellow)

Moving through Other Starships wrote:

Since the hexes in starship combat aren’t

representative of three-dimensional distance, starships can move through hexes containing other starships, but they can’t end their movement there. If a starship moves through a hex containing an enemy starship, the enemy starship can fire any one of its direct-fire weapons from any arc at the moving starship, targeting its aft quadrant. This free attack doesn’t benefit from any bonuses or additional abilities from other actions taken aboard the enemy starship, such as divert or lock on. Any character currently in a gunner role can make this attack. If no one is designated as a gunner (often the case in starships with only one crew member), the enemy starship can’t make a free attack. A weapon used for this free attack can still be used as normal later in the round.

-------

Oh dear, really a series of bad rolls this round.

Engineering
Alice diverts power to boost the weapon systems. Meanwhile, you can see the starboard shields flicker, as if it was being restored.

Helm
Eli, you can either maneuver or do a stunt, e.g. evade per round, not both. Didn't matter though. Separately, even if you improved the maneuverability to turn 0, would still need to move forward one hex then make two turns, i.e. still provoking the AoO.
With the (pink) drone looming straight ahead, Eli fails to pull to the side in time, and opts to simply fly overhead. The drone opens fire on the Sunrise Maiden's aft, but Eli is able to at least dodge the blast. Meanwhile, the Sunrise Maiden's computers throw out a warning. The power core system has been hacked!

The two drones, while taking evasive actions, float perfectly to flank the Sunrise Maiden. Eli manages to evade the laser shot from her port, but ends up in the path of the starboard laser shot. It fails to get past the shields, however.

Gunnery
Albans, transferring your shot to the pink drone, which missed anyway.
Albans races over to the weapon systems, opening fire with the port lasers onto the drone but the drone evades the shot easily. Asier-23-7 keeps his attention on the platform, blasting the gyrolaser at it, but it similarly dodges the shot. Ruuk's control of turret particle beam is flawless this time. Empowered by the engines, it manages to take a major chunk to the platform's aft shields, but it still holds.

One of the +1 bonuses weren't used this round, I think. Didn't make a difference though this time.

Yet another (orange) drone exits the platform at the rear.

Sorry, last round I forgot to describe one of the drone's hitting the Sunrise Maiden's starboard side.
Botting Alice 002

Engineering
Alice 002 turns her attention to the damaged shield, managing to divert sufficient power to restore the shields completely. The orbital platform's AI must have done the same, for some of its damaged aft shileds also flicker more strongly.

Helm
Albans hacks into the orbital platform, inserting a self-destructive bug into the drone launcher system. The platform's AI returns the favour, undermining the Sunrise Maiden's power core system.

Eli takes evasive action, coming up to the starboard side of the platform. The platform fails, however, to maneuver well this time, and simple pilots on, trying to draw out the distance from the Starfinders. At the same time, the three drones flit around, one coming up to the Maiden's port, one to its aft and one remains up in front, while taking evasive actions.

Gunnery
Ruuk first opens fire with the particle beam, blasting through the platform's rear shields and hitting the hull. Asier-23-7 follows immediately after with the gyrolaser, which despite the distance still hits, damaging the hull further. The drones all open fire on the Starfinders. Eli manages to dodge two of the laser cannons, but one clips the port shields.

The platform releases one more (purple) drone.

The orbital platform's aft shields flicker ever briefly, but it seems that it was unable to bring it back online.

Helm
With shield restoration failing, it opts for next best option. You see all the shields flicker and the AI computer redistributes its remaining shields all around.

The platform continues flying straight ahead, keeping away from the Sunrise Maidens. Three of the drones (all except orange), however, fly in to close in around the Sunrise Maiden.

Enjoying the gyrations of the gyrolaser as the ship goes through a few quick manuevers, Asier takes to the comms. "Eli, that was well timed! Waiting for them to close in is a great idea."

After a second he then responds to Madrgial's encouragement. "Sooo, *static that sounds slightly like 'uhhhhh'* ...no cleaning the scrubbers?"

Taking a second to refocus his attentions in the still slightly spinning gyrobay, Aasier fires at the drone launcher. "We might want to start shooting down drones soon if the launcher keeps dropping them as quickly."

Engineering
Alice sends more power down to the weapons, increasing their energy output.

Helm
With the drone looming right in front of the Sunrise Maiden, Eli expertly pilots the ship in a high-G nosedive, reacting so quickly that the drone fails to react in time. She chases after the orbital platform while one of more responsive (orange) drones chases the Starfinders in turn. At the same time, Albans inserts another bug into the platform's drone launchers.

Gunnery
The Starfinders open fire. Ruuk's controls jam, however, and his shot goes wild. Asier-23-7 manages to land the empowered gyrolaser shot on the aft of the platform, chipping away at its shields.

The 4 drones swivel their turrets and fire their light laser cannon on the Sunrise Maiden. Due to the distance Eli has pulled away from most of them, most of the shots miss. Only one lands on the ships aft, damaging the shields slightly.

Finally, no new drones are released.

Alice deftly channels additional power, buffering up the starboard shields.

Helm
Albans, I'm not clear quite what happens when the drones are targeted, since it says that it takes 2 hull points damage instead of critical damage effect. But I'm going to allow it.
With the orbital platform's systems compromised, Albans shifts his attention to one of the drone, hacking into its weapons system. At the same time, Eli with great skill, flies past the orbital platform to face its aft to enemy while swerving to avoid enemy fire.

The remaining three drones swarm up towards the starboard side of the Sunrise Maiden.

Gunnery
Finally, Ruuk manages to wrest control back of the weapons system, and what fine control! With deadly accuracy, he fires the particle beam puncturing through the port shields of the orbital platform. The hit triggers the worm that Albans had inserted earlier, causing a minor short in the drone launching system. The damage to the hull also simultaneously cause a short in the power core system.
Ruuk's roll of 19 causes a crit damage effect, triggering the target system. The damage then crossed the CT, triggering a second crit damage effect.

Asier-23-7 follows shortly after with a blast of the aft flak thrower, which with the port shield down, tears up even more of the hull.

The drones open fire simultaneously. One on the starboard manage to hit despite Eli's fantastic flying, wearing down the shields on that side, while the drone left far behind miraculously manages to hit the Sunrise Maiden's aft but thankfully fails to get past the shields.

However, these cause a power surge across the power core and although with the vulnerability inserted by orbital platform earlier. Suddenly, you hear an explosion coming from the engineering section, tearing up Alice badly who fails to duck in time. She nonetheless heroically activates the fire retardation system to put the ensuing fire before it could cause any serious damage. Her deed done, she begins to shut down.
