Kappa gasps: "By Triune!"

The android looks around: "What happened here? Some alien and android got pushed out through the hole in the hull? And the android got ripped apart?"

Kappa takes the body parts of the android, and will try to find something to wrap them up with, or else simply strap them to its pack.

Reynold reflexively lets out a low, hollow chuckle. "This just keeps getting better and better. If the undead kasatha doesn't get us, some mysterious clawed monstrosity will. Assuming whatever punched this hole in the hull is gone. Let's hope that forcefield holds long enough for us to get out of here."

As Reynold approaches the door, it hisses open. Four beds fill most of these tidy crew quarters. Each bed is neatly made with a prominent item placed atop its center. Above the beds are tightly sealed storage compartments. A single-tier metal shelf curves around the southwestern wall, its surface pristine but entirely empty.

The items on the beds are: A floating model of the Kasathan world-ship, the Idari; a personal datapad whose low battery warning light is flashing; a decorated Idaran force rod; and an elegantly bound book. You can see these from the door; examining each would of course involve entering.

Bonekeep Slides

Reynolds's not sure what the cultural significance of this is, but Da'at can tell him that the items placed atop the beds are each part of a kasathan tradition for those who are making a journey from which they don’t expect to return. The crew members left personal items on each of their beds, as gifts to those who survive them and continue to create future history.

The floating model is a very intricate toy model of the Kasthan world-ship.

The book is a copy of Customs of Kasath, a gift traditionally given to a kasatha who has just completed the Tempering, a coming-of-age ritual. The nameplate inside identifies the copy as belonging to Yotto, one of the kasatha crew members. Nestled inside the cover is a least photon crystal.

The Idaran force baton is engraved with the lengthy lineage and titles of its owner. Such a lineage would make it a valuable object.

The datapad requires a new battery, but as soon as that's done, it displays a series of log entries.

Log entries:

RECORD 1
I am worried about Yotto. She is furious about what happened at the Bulwark and seems to be withdrawing more and more—she didn’t even attend this morning’s spar. Instead, I battled against Blue Sky-101, who is a skilled opponent but lacks the same vitality and understanding of honor. I thought Yotto would at least work some of her anger out by taking baton to bot. Perhaps it is her youth getting the better of her. I will give her a few days to restore her balance.

RECORD 2
The loss of Yotto is unbearable, and to make matters worse, the damage to the ship was more extensive than we thought. The captain sent out a distress beacon in the Drift, but it is too dangerous to stay in this minefield, so we have returned to the Material Plane. When we return to the Idari, I hope the adata will accept Yotto’s body and grant me dispensation to query her soul. I’d like to speak with her one last time—and ask her why she was in the cargo hold when we were hit. For now, I have shrouded her body and placed it in the sparring chamber.

RECORD 3
At first, I thought it was a dream—a nightmare. I walked into the sparring room and there was Yotto, but… changed. She swung at me from across the room, but I felt her hand rip through me as though I were made of paper. I tried to subdue her with the sparring equipment, but my blows simply passed through her. It took all of us armed with force batons to eventually lure her into the captain’s quarters, where the captain sacrificed herself to trap Yotto—or whatever she has become—within her suit’s force field. Kela has rigged one of the ship’s batteries to amplify the field and keep the creature contained, but we may soon be faced with fighting this thing for our lives.

FINAL RECORD
As our forebears faced the dimming of Kasath’s sun, so do we know that our ship’s power reserves near their end. Traska has encrypted our ship’s log, and tonight we will gather in the mess to partake of our final meal. We have placed our sacred items atop our beds, as tradition requires. I hope those items, as well as something of the captain, our pilot, and even Blue Sky-101, find a safe return to the Idari should we not. Eloritu guide us.

Reynold reads through the logs and passes the data pad to his comrade. ”Guess our apparition has a name. Looks like it’s been strapped into a forcefield that’s battery-powered. Hopefully we won’t need the extra energy to get to the bridge, we can let the storm take care of Yotto’s restless soul.”

He walks over to the other objects. ”In the meantime, we’ll take all these. I bet the Idari will want them back, and if not they’ll sell for a pretty penny.” He makes his way over to the cabinets to check for valuables there as well.

Piggy takes a second look at the android's arm. " Excellent point, Pangea. Let me see if I can find any identification. " The small, plump Ysoki reaches out and examines the parts.

Da'at, returning from having taken the robot back to the Hell Turkey, motions towards the second force baton. "If I may..." he asks in a rather subdued tone as compared to his usual bluster. "This... S!~#. I... I mean, death is something that happens. But I've never seen or heard of anyone just accepting their fate and just turning over. Dammit."

He motions to the many things the starfinders have found. "Xen or P, if you could take all that. It should go back to the Idari. Same should go for the bodies honestly, when we find them. Including Yotto. I don't think she murdered anyone Xen. Sounds like they trapped Yotto before they decided struggling to live was too gods-damned hard." He sighs, looking more upset by the moment. "Lets just find the bodies, the information and all that quickly and get off this mausoleum before I start getting angry."

Da'at will either give his hammer to someone else or "sheathe" it, and wield the fancy force baton with his other two hands. Sorry for my long silence folks, I just got to my destination.

The android's arm and leg do not display any labels, but given the crew list you've seen so far, it would be logical to guess that this is the remains of Blue Sky-101.

B4B2 manages to jimmy the storage containers open. Most are empty, but one holds 3 basic medkits.

Where to now? When you examine the door where the blood trail ends, you find it requires a key card to enter and no amount of fiddling can bypass that. There are 3 doors in the main cabin yet to examine.

Bonekeep Slides

Piggy and B4B2 examine the works, slowly puzzling out what happened here. The engines and Drift engines are irrevocably damaged. A necessary control module is dark and destroyed. The power that is being produced has been routed to life support, door controls and the force field currently keeping space out. The batteries on the rack are all dead. You can see two unpowered rooms labelled 'mess' and 'bridge'. It looks like you'll need batteries to power these rooms before they can be accessed. Trying to rewire the system would cause a catastrophic failure to all systems. It looks like the batteries requried here are larger than simple batteries. Piggy thinks the robot in the sparring room might hold one large enough, but you're going to need another.

You can choose to power only one room at a time. Judging by the layout of the ship you can see on the wiring grid, it looks like the mess room is required to be powered to access the Bridge. I have revealed the map, since you can now see the ship's layout.

Piggy cracks his knuckles and smiles gleefully as he finds the solution to this mechanical puzzle. "Alright, ma friends. Let's go to that last room, ya know the bloody one, shown here on the map." He points out the far right room to every one. "Hopefully we can scavenge a second battery from there. Afterwards, we'll have Da'at ask the combat droid nicely to give us his battery." the Ysoki winks at the mercenary. I wonder if this guy knows what 'nicely' even means.

He continues. "Then, we come back here, I plug in battery number one and we move into the Mess Hall. That's here." Again, he points to the map to help everybody out. "After we've cleared that room, I'll bounce the second battery into this appropriate slot and we'll be clear to head to the helm and out objective. Sound good?"

Acquisitives

Reynold shakes his head. ”That room has a ghost in it if I recall. We also need a key card to get inside, which we haven’t found yet. Fingers crossed the last battery is in the mess hall, I’d just as soon let sleeping undead monstrosities lie.”

Exo-Guardians

Xenal nods, A good thing we have force batons though. Undead monstrosities are made to be opposed - they rarely stay slumbering for long.
