Discussion thread open sesame.
GM Cellion |
Alright, before I get this show on the road I need the following from you guys->>>
1. Player/Forum Name
2. Character's Name
3. Class and Level
4. SFS# (and dash)
5. Day job Roll (if any)
Also, if you have anything odd/unusual about your character that I should know, please say so now.
Feel free to dot the gameplay thread when you're ready.
Storyn |
What do you need me to play?
Once I get 6 marks on that racial cert, this character will be a Ryphorian, in the meantime, I’ll play whatever iconic pregen is needed.
Storyn |
1. Player/Forum Name: Tripp Elliott
2. Character's Name: Storyn
3. Class and Level: (TBD)
4. SFS# (and dash): 55238-704
5. Day job Roll (if any): TBD
GM Cellion |
Totally up to you Storyn, the four classes we had marked on the signups made for a pretty balanced party already.
Mustachio Marino |
1. Mustachioed
2. Mustachio Marino
3. Envoy 1
4. 258259-702
5. Struggling Actor
Also struggling to see how to enter a profile pic for my SFS alias
Storyn |
Envoy, Operative, Technomancer and Solarian right?
Tektite, what are you going for?
GM Cellion |
@Mustachio: Top right of your screen, go to 'My Organized Play', which should show you a list of your PFS and SFS characters. Using the edit button next to the character here should bring you to a page that lets you change their avatar. Sadly, the avatar options for Starfinder are crummy right now.
Breq Torren |
1. EwokBanshee
2. Breq Torren
3. Operative 1
4. 240237-703
5. Profession (Lawyer): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Breq is a melee operative, pretty normal. No boons, this is her first game.
I'll get her sheet digitized this weekend.
Full disclosure: I have played this before, on another character. However, we didn't go through one of the missions. (I guess we had enough victory conditions to be at 100%)

Thanks! As always, I'm staring at the most obvious thing in the world and not seeing it. :) We'll just assume my antennae are hiding under the hat.

Faction: Dataphiles.
Storyn |
Ok, how about I use Obozaya’s stats, but we’ll just call her Storyn the Vesk instead?

Mustachio Marino |
sorry given my newb status I didn't even realize there was another thread for the game. I will post into it as soon as I can

I've been reading a bit about factions and boons. Am I right in thinking that even the basic Wayfayers Champion boon costs 2 fame to have it? So basically, I won't have a boon for the very first adventure. Except i did find a Starfinder Care Package special that says it is for first-time players.
You gain a special elixir that you can consume as if it were a serum in order to restore 2d8 Hit Points as well as 1d4 points of one type of ability damage. You can use this elixir only once, even if you have an ability or effect that would allow you to benefit from the serum multiple times. Check the box that precedes this boon
when you use this elixir. Only you can use this elixir and it has effective market price of 0 credits if sold.
While every character can purchase a serum of healing, this free gift is more potent than a typical starting serum.
The elixir is also good at curing ability damage, which often accompanies poison, disease, and other afflictions.
Consider this option if you cannot cast healing spells and want a powerful way to heal yourself in an emergency.

@Mustachio: Although the Champion boons ARE 2 fame to purchase, you get one Champion boon of your choice, for free, right from the get-go. The Champion boons just let you represent a faction during each scenario to gain reputation with them. Once you get fame from completing scenarios, you can spend that fame on other boons in the Roleplaying Guild Guide. Additionally, completing scenarios often gets you boons directly.
That 'Starfinder Care Package' comes as one of the options on the Welcome to Starfinder boon. You can find the chronicle HERE. You can apply this special chronicle to your first character only (your -701). If you don't have one of these chronicles yet, let me know and I can fill one out for you.

Gotcha. Ok, in that case I have the Wayfinder Champion boon. I'll pass on the Starfinder Care Package, Mustachio is actually a 702 character although he is the first I'm playing and I don't want to complicate things.

If you haven't posted 10 times yet, you can change the names to switch Marino to your -701.

But it makes it fun!
By the way, while compucast may not be impressed with Mustachio, I'm really enjoying him. Keep it up!

Thanks! I figured you were separating your real self and your character, and I am too, but it was nice of you to say that. But now that we are clear with each other, we can be even meaner!
Also, do we just split the credit evenly? 400/6 = 67 rounded up
Storyn |
At the end of the scenario it will be doled out equally.

I'm glad to see that, in general, those choosing to play Icons in this game (and I have seen several so far) have a good sense of humor when other players hijack their character's past a bit.
Storyn |
Ok, and with that last email having been sent, my Christmas/New Year Holiday begins!
There will be family, and friends, and out of state travel, so I will do my best to post, but at least during the Monday-Friday of next week, it might get a bit tough.
GM, feel free to bot me as necessary.
Happy Christmas to all!

Anything said in game, it becomes canon, right? :)
GM Cellion |
Yep, Storyn's got the story right re: credits. I suppose they give you some credits in liquid form during the scenario just in case you need to purchase something and you don't have much leftover money from character creation? The amount you spend would get deducted from the end-of-scenario reward once we're done in any case.
Also, thanks for the heads up Storyn. I'll probably be posting a little less often during the next week as well (though it could be more! Depends on family events and what plans go through), but I'll keep up with 1 post a day for the people who are here.
GM Cellion |
You guys are TOO funny :D I am cracking up at this banter.
Compucast |
I'll be away for around a week from approx new years eve. Please bot as required.
GM Cellion |
Yep, always roll damage, even if you think you missed.
GM Cellion |
No worries Rynner, and sorry to hear about the food poisoning. Nothing like sickness to ruin a holiday break :<
You're up again BTW.
GM Cellion |
I apologize on behalf of Paizo's bloodthirsty dice roller.
If only I could get this treatment in games that I'm PLAYING rather than GMing.
Compucast |
I'm back now. Looks like things are rolling along nicely.
Breq Torren |
Sense Motive! I saw that option in the book and immediately thought of Robert Downey Jr's Sherlock Holmes. The book basically describes the Sense Motive archetype as predicting the enemy's next move. I try to play it like Holmes, predicting and calculating the next probable move.
Breq Torren |
NG is probably more accurate, now that I'm playing her out. The reason I don't have her as Lawful is that she'll do pretty much anything to free a slave or oppressed person. Especially an Android.
But really, I don't think it matters whether she is Lawful, Neutral or Chaotic. It's the Good that's the stickler when it comes to killing unarmed unconscious gangsters.
Mustachio Marino |
How does loot work in SFS? Do we roll on it?
I can use that zero rifle, failing that the ring looks like something we all would like.
GM Cellion |
Breq alluded to it in gameplay, but you can decide amongst yourselves who will hold onto and use any gear you find during the session. At the end of the session all that gear disappears and you can buy it with the credits you get for completing the mission. If you use any consumables from gear that was looted mid-session, the value of those consumables is deducted from your credit gain.
So, no rolling unless you're rolling in character to determine who holds onto a particular piece until end of session.
