Hush watches Ekkie put on the Iomedaean clerical robes with a smirk. Huh. Just when I thought I'd seen it all... He doesn't think for a moment she's had any real change of religion in the span of a few moments, but her willingness to wear the robes in the first place says something.

Theadus, silently watching up to this point, can't help but chuckle at the absurdity of it all. "I would have suggested the Lord of Iron, but you don't appear strong enough to properly worship him so perhaps this is for the best."

Well... I never saw THAT coming.. and sure as hell never dreamed of it!! LMAO!!!

The company garbs up and Ekkie has fun tripping herself and figuring out the robes. They head out into the city, and suffer some very curious looks at the prancing acolyte robed goblin. However, no one dares to approach the armed and armored party. Ekkie leads you to the Mariska Knackery in Magnimar's Lowcleft district. The knackery stands on the northern edge of the district, two blocks west of the Matador's Lodge. Lame or old horses, as well as animals and beasts maimed or used up in events at the Serpent's Run arena or the Matador's Lodge, are brought to the knackery to be slaughtered and dismembered, and their meat and other remains are sold off.

Theadus looks unimpressed as they arrive at the knackery. He looks down that the goblin and growls "I assume you've brought us to the hidden entrance and we're not just here so you can refill your gut?"

"Tunnel in there! I promise." Ekkie squeaks. "Old man lets us through and feeds us! Yummy foods, too.. he feeds us lotsa and lotsa horsey!"

Ginko shudders as he enters the knackery.

"So much violence."

Ginko takes a knee and touches the ground, caressing it like a father applying balm to his child's wound.

"The spirits of this place are not quiet."

You said there are old and lame horses? Ginko would like to speak with them (he has Speak with Animals as a spirit spell)

Pierre looks deep in Theadus' eyes. "Do you mean a holy vow to Iomedae can be broken like this? If it is indeed broken, glorious light shall strike upon the filthy liar that does so!" inveighs the cleric, clenching his fist.
Pierre smiles at the goblin. "I thank you, Ekkie. You serve Iomedae well. I am proud of you."

"I wonder what the horses could tell us..."

So far, you have not entered the Knackery, you are only outside the front door. If you would like entrance, I would try knocking..

Pierre knocks at the door.

A middle aged man finally heads the banging on his door and throws open the door, his overly large walrus mustaches waggling with displeasure. "What?!" he gruffly demands of the party through a very thick Varisian accent. He only stands about 5 1/2 feet tall, but he manages to block the whole of the door so that you cannot see past him.

What a strange place. Hush stands passively by, watching their surroundings. Suppose it's fitting for a goblin-hole to be in an establishment like this though.

Colt steps forward and addresses the man with an air of authority to his actions.

Greetings, sir! We are with the city sewer inspection department. We've been getting reports of very large rats climbing out of the sewer system in this area. We've been dispatched to investigate and deal with any problems that may exist. Please allow us entry into your operation so we may inspect your sewer drains. Did I mention they were very large rats, probably infected with nasty diseases?

Bluff: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

Pierre stands still, saying nothing and doing nothing more than smiling.

"RATS?!?! My building does not have rats!! Why do you have to inspect my building? I assure you that I have no rats." the man blusters. Sweating profusely and clearly agitated, the man shifts his eyes back and forth between the group.

"An old man with a holy symbol, a large bird with a different holy symbol, a wolfman, a guy in all black with a mask, and a burly tiefling, all armed with a wide array of weapons, just showed up saying they're here to check for rats. Seems legit."

Ginko bows to the man.

"Please, most honored Sir. There is no need to be agitated. I think you will see that giving us a few moments of your time is nothing to be concerned with."

His voice flowing with a calm, sleepy cadence, Ginko waves a feathered hand at the man.

DC 17 will save vs. charm person, please.

The mans eyes quickly glaze over and his stance becomes more relaxed. "What can I do for you, friends?

LMAO "Those are not the goblins you're looking for..."

Thats EXACTLY what I was thinking when I read that!!!!!

"Dear friend, may we please come inside and talk? We just have a few questions."

Ginko grimaces as he puts a hand on his back to show the stiffness there.

"This old crow would appreciate a few moments of rest, if you would not mind. I would be happy to make you some tea for the trouble."

The man looks the party over.. his eyes start to unglaze.. then he focuses back on Ginko and he returns to his relaxed and completely charmed state. "Of course, friend. Come on in. I will find you somewhere to sit." He steps back and allows the party to come inside, and escorts them over to a small seating area. The smell of blood and death lingers and wafts through the air, and Ekkies mouth starts to water and drool at the (for her) appetizing smell of horseflesh. "What can I help you with?"

Theadus follows the group in, taking a deep inhale as he sits. The smell of blood and death stirs the rage within him, and it's only with a growl of defiance that he is able to find his inner calm once more.
Sorry guys, but Theadus was not built to be a social butterfly. Unless my assistance is directly requested, I'll be taking a back seat until we get to the sewers.

Ginko shudders at the smell of the room. To honor his word--and perhaps also combat the smell--Ginko will begin making some tea.

"So, my Friend, how has business been lately? I have heard there are goblins about in this area. I do hope you have not been having any trouble with them, considering your wares?"

Pierre follows quietly, making sure that Ekkie behaves.

I am assuming that Ekkies head is covered and that she in unable to be recognized here..

Ekkie seems to be behaving herself, but she is wandering closer and closer to the meat tables.. keeping an eye on the party while doing so.
I am picturing my son when he was about three trying to take candy from the table.. Completely innocent but watching to see if he can get away with it.

"Business has been absolutely terrible! All of my profits are going to feeding those psychotic little bastards! What could I do? Those little vermin have got me right where they want me! At first, I tried locks and bars to stop them, but the thefts got worse. If there's any way in, they'll find it!. Then the big, creepy one, at least a foot taller than me, came one night. It put the fear right into me, I'll tell you, lurking there in the shadows with its snuffling breath and twitching ears. It said it knew exactly where my family lives and said it'd know if I tried to go to the watch. Then they burned down my shed outside to make their point. So I've had to go along with them, leaving the best slabs of meat for them and ignoring the scurrying I hear down in the cellars at night. If I don't, they'll burn down my home and murder my family!" The man lets out all in a rush, dropping his head into his hands if a gesture of abject defeat.

Ginko sets down a tea cup in front of the man. The tengu pats him on the shoulder, shaking his head in earnest sympathy.

"Such a terrible story! You have my sincerest apologies for the troubles that you have been dealing with."

Ginko sits down next to him, looking him in the eye.

"You see, my friend here was trying to be discrete by saying we are here to help with rats, but the truth is that we are here to help with removing these goblins from your life. Your family and your business will be safe."

Ginko places some oolong tea leaves in the cup he set out.

"You just sit back and relax with a nice tea and we will take care of things for you, eh?"

Ginko begins pouring the hot water into the cup.

"If that is okay with you, of course."

"Like I said, rats. Rats come in all shapes and sizes."

Turning to the diminutive adherent of Iomede, Colt says: "Now where is the entrance to this tunnel? And quit eyeing the horse meat! You can have some when we finish up our business."

Hush stands unmoving during the conversation. What vile creatures, holding this man under sway like that. Then he catches himself. Emotional attachment. Don't get yourself involved. Still, if Hush has anything to do about it, his dark god will be well sated after this mission.

Theadus' interest is piqued at the talk of extermination. With a toothy grin, he says "Just point us at the hole. I call dibs on the big one."

the man looks up at the party through tear filled eyes. "Are you serious? You will? My family can be free??!!" With a smile, he gets up and leads you over to the sewer drain. "I see them coming in and out through here.. I have no idea where it ends up on the other side, so please be careful! May the gods be with you!"

Looking down the dark hole, Theadus takes his wayfinder out from behind his breastplate and activates the light spell within it to get a better look.
What do I see down the hole?

Theadus looks down the opening and sees... well.. a sewer. Steel ladder rungs are inset into the stone to facilitate movement through the shaft, which appears to be about 20 ft long. The smell emenating from this hole though.. leaves absolutely no doubt whatsoever that this is Not going to be a pleasant experience. There are easy to read signs, however, of frequent use of this tunnel so it would appear that although highly fragrant, the air is not toxic.

Pierre stays very VERY close of Ekkie, grabbing her robes lightly when she seems to go too near the tables.
Once the man is gone, he will ask Ekkie if she can "detect the traps".

Shall we enter the rabbit hole and see what wonderous adventures await?

"I don't want to wait for them to come to us. Let's go."

Colt pulls out a gemstone he has tied around his neck. It is obviously enchanted, giving off a continuous flame. He then draws his pistol, and starts down the manhole.

"After you, gentlemen."

Ginko shuffles behind the others, his age clearly showing.

Theadus waits for the goblin to go first, then follows closely behind, letting her lead the way.

"Let's go, then. Ekkie, if you would be so kind..." says the cleric, showing the entrance.

What are you doing about light? The tunnels are completely dark. I am going to post as if this were resolved, but fill this in with a retcon with your posts, please.

Ekkie leads the group through the twisting and turning tunnels at a steady pace that prevents the horrid smells from assaulting you too badly. Although the sewage smell is strong enough to taste, after about half an hour, you are able to smell something else though the poo... rancid goblin infestation. Soon after, Ekkie stops the group saying "Big headquarters up there. Ekkie was never let past here, but big bosses always come from up ahead."

Colt has this: Alexandrite gem (glows as affected by continual flame heightened to a 3rd-level spell (CL 5th)). He picked it up after Wounded Wisp.

Letting the wayfinder's light guide him, Theadus leads the team around the first corner they come to (A1).

As the party obliviously marches into the mouth of the enemy headquarters, they are ambushed as they turn the corner. The of the ugliest and foulest creatures that you have ever seen jump on Theadus as he rounds the corner.
