All right boys and girls. Setting up for Carrion Crown, so a quick bit of character building stuff.
*15 Pt. Buy
*Almost all Paizo Material allowed (Other Material on a case by case basis)
*3 Traits, one of which must be a Campaign Trait. (Note: I've had a lot of people take Chance Savior so I'll limit it to no more than 2 people taking the same trait.)
*1 Extra Background Feat (Background Feat=Feat that is mostly for Roleplay Purposes. Some are easy to decide, some are not, but for a quick reference, nothing with combat applications. Case-by-case decisions)
*Average Starting Gold
*Note: While not required, a cleric or paladin is... very, very helpful to your survival in the first part of the module. It'll even out to average later, but the first 4 levels are very tough without one.
*No Evil Characters
*2 Background 'Hooks' to fit in later
If I missed anything tell me, I'm very active on here. I also like a good and varied party, so if everyone's going human and it seems a good idea to be a dwarf, gnome or elf... go for it, it'll make me happier.
He probably won't until later tonight. Though I saw the things and to make it simple, he won't play a wizard. He tends toward skill monkeys or spontaneous casters.
Flavor feat could be either Noble Scion or Skill focus (Sing). Only have the one combat feat, so... yeah.
Will be working on the history part to reflect the new traits I have selected as well.
As of now I'm thinking vanilla bard, because inspire courage is awesome! And I think archetypes force you to give up too much for next to no return. But, if I hear a compelling argument to the contrary, I am willing to entertain suggestions.
Concept is primarily support. Anca is not intended to be a leader type. I built her to stretch my abilities as a roleplayer to be lawful, and hope by party interaction her cold, distant personality will change.
Hullo. Will be tossing up a character as soon as I see what is severely lacking. For now, I am contemplating a cleric, since it is needed. Paladin might be fun, but kinda selfish, which is kinda ironic.
Salutations! I am Tyrgrim Steinkløyve, which means "Stonecleave" in the common tongue! Warrior priest of the father of battle, I pray that Gorum brings us gore, gold and glory!
(Thought it would be funny to play the complete opposite of Stanis :P)
I can't wait to play with my husband again. Last time we gamed together as PCs was our horribad Serpent Skull game. I very much doubt our PCs will be as entangled as they were in that game, however.
In fact, there's no reason for Anca and Gristle McThornbody to want to socialize at all. *laughs*

"Our gods both understand pain and violence. However, yours is silly. Now sing a song about violence or bring me a drink woman!"
I'm not such a huge fan of dump stats... not gonna require they get changed, but let me say, you better play that whole 'naive idiot' bit to the hilt or I'm gonna ask you to up one of those at least a point or two.
Zax (Dorrak from the RotRL game) checking in - stats assigned for this young, naive Paladin. Whipping up back story and other details.
G#$@%@n. Now all I can think of is a pile of Jeff Foxworthy "If you <insert silliness>, you know you're a redneck!" jokes, and This nugget from Bill Hicks
Also, have you played Left 4 Dead 2? I kinda imagine Ellis with smite :P

NP, I'll up them now before we get started.

One of the notes I jotted down during character creation is "completely oblivious to people hitting on him"

Haven't played it, I sold my consoles and games last year after not touching any of them for over 8 months.

To be clear, don't have an issue with one dump stat, just that you had 2 so low. If you'd like to keep one under 10 it's fine.
Woo, I thought my campaign had some varied characters. An Ulfen barbarian, a literate half orc, a dwarf, a human male paladin and a human female bard walk into a tavern in a community of roughly 300...
Since I've cheated *tee hee* and read the first book, I kinda see Anca's brother Grigori at the very least as being affiliated with the Whispering Way, and her betrothed as being one of the nobles affiliated with the orchestrator dude who wants to make the Lich juice.
Her dad is cool people, though. He just married a snake that is perverting his children. Believe you me, my intro for Anca in the former game was half spoilered when the GM said "Hey, I want you to narrate what you were doing before you decided to come to the Professor's funeral."

Who is going to be starting the barfights?
*laughs*
Barfight? Where?! BRING IT! GORUM WILLS IT!!
But only if there are worthy opponents. Thrashing on some feeble commoners is the way of cowards.
Also, I am not a barbarian. I am literate in four languages, know how to tend the sick, heal the wounded and... umm... grr... SHUT UP! 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15AC 1d3 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5subdual damage Oh yeah! Spells! I know magic! *casts cure light* 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 SEE!? Telling me I am a barbarian. Where does she get off? I need some alcohol and a willing wench. Gorum.
@Urgma: First time I have heard about Magrim. That must be the most obscure deity I have seen on a character.
@Zax: Interesting choice of weapon. Going to be interesting enlarging you, considering how it works now. 20' reach is not to be underestimated.
Will have bio done by tonight(GMT) sorry for delay.
@Tyrgrim. He's the dwarven god of Death (well it’s a bit more complex than that, but not much). See Dwarves of Golarion. Flavour seemed cool; he decides what tasks dwarven souls must pass to get into the afterlife among other things. The reason I like him is he isn’t a depressing god of death.
I did. I chuckled when I realized that dwarven gods effectively "recycle" souls. Very conservative and resource-minded. And as you say, less gloomy and depressing. Reincarnation beats sitting around in a bleak nothingness.
Personally Fasir thinks all your gods are silly. ”The life I have had the god looking over me must be so malevolent that I don’t want to be associated.”Fasir, at some point in the coming campaign.
All right, after a detailed look: Anca and Tyrgrim, Approved. Fasir and Urgma, Need a bio/plot hooks. And Zax needs crunch and bio. Then we're on our way.
And yes, I'll tell him to get a wiggle on tonight.
Zaxarii Beloi(Male Human Paladin 1 (Undead Scourge))
Okay, after much flip flopping on things I've posted background notes (a bullet list rather than short story about his past) and plot hooks for Zax.
If you want me to put better plot hookage in there I'll get something up this afternoon.
Still have a few things to throw up on the profile page - appearance, equipment, favorite food, etc. but that's coming shortly.
Think I'll reply in the morning. My head is full of silliness and sleep right now. I'm assuming that the GMT and GMT + folk in this game won't tear the thread down while I rest my head.
Been dying to play an ulfen character proper. Been reading up on Gorum in Faiths of Balance, and find that his goals, dogma and taboos should all mesh well with the romantic viking ideals. Cowardice is the death of the soul, and better to die in battle than of old age.
Been wanting to play an inquisitor for a while now - her back story is a bit different to what I have used in the past as other back stories, but I'm happy with it.
You'll have to let me know what you think of mah intro Ryuko. I worked on that sucker for about five hours. Not including the time I spent researching silent film stars to put faces to the NPCs.
I dunno... while I like throwing in pictures occasionally, I tend to only describe NPCs lightly and allow people to fill them in themselves. I take similar measures when I write fiction, as I've found many people like their own ideas. I did really enjoy the first bit, where the country and its politics were discussed. It seems very... Narrator-esque, which I enjoyed.
They'll be described from here on out. I just kinda wanted to set the visual theme of my game. Monsters are going to be copied from the book if people are interested, because I can't be arsed to go through a bunch of hollywood movies or "thirteen ghosts" to come up with something appropriate.
Edit Oh goodness. Anca's best efforts have already rankled. I cannot wait. :P
One of my favorite parts of PbP DMing is describing monsters from the viewpoint of someone who may not have seen them before, and having people try to figure out what it is. It's very interesting to have the party face... say... a manticore, and have none of them make the check, and have all of them respond in character about what a terrifying and unknowable beast it was, without breaking immersion because many of the players truly don't know what they just faced. I'm also looking forward to the haunts and I feel that by PbP I will be able to do justice to this module where I really couldn't nail down the mood at the gaming table. Horror is tough to do, especially when you're surrounded by friends who go off-topic at a moments notice.
Aaah, point. And one I had not considered before. But then, my RL groups have always been "who cares what it looks like, if it's comin' straight for us, it needs to get got!" and ran in guns blazin'.
And yeah... Writing this is going to be a challenge. But, I'm going to enjoy playing as well. :D
That is an accurate representaion. My college group frequently played while intoxicated, so we often just went with pictures and stat blocks, and husband's group were power/wargamers who thought about XP before anything else.
*shrug*
Is why I fancy PbP, since I've actually become good at building characters instead of stat blocks, I like expressing them.
