"Well, well! This appears to be a magically enhanced dagger. No wonder it appears to have avoided rusting, and I bet it is sharp as ever. Does anyone want it?"
Clarence's only protection is a non-magical dagger of his own, but he still believes he will have no use for such items. He'll gladly hand it off to anyone who wants it, but will consider keeping it if a good argument is made to him.

I'm assuming everyone is ready to depart the ruins for the day.
You head back out through the caves, retracing the way you came in. before long you can smell clean salt air and blink as you reenter the bright sunlight outside.
The ground is marked by dozens of small puddles evidence of a recent midday shower.

On the way out I suggest to Clarence to reseal the door, just in case something as dangerous as those spiders is able to creep out. I suggest to the group we convince at dawn to continue our quest to discover what is going on under Sandpoint.
After we separate I will go to the church and see if there is anything they can do for my sapped weakness.
NPC - Father Zantus |
Father Zantus casts lesser restoration 1d4 ⇒ 2 the spell heals two points of STR dmg.
"You look better already, get a little rest and you should be as good as new." He smiles and offers you a benediction. before taking his leave. Even at the cathedral there is generally a fee for spell-casting services (80 gp in this case) but today Father Zantus makes no such request of you.
Blake Deverin |
Blake feels his strength start to return, "Thank you Father." Worn out, hurt, and still feeling a bit weak, Blake heads for the market seeking some of the merchants he often deals with. He seeks to negotiate a trade of ale and mead for an amount of sacramental wine that would equal at least 80 gold in value, and have it sent to the the cathedral. Once the arrangements are made he will head home, climb the stairs to his apartment above the brewery, eat a simple meal of stew and bread, then collapse into his bed for the night.
In the morning he is much better off, all of his strength returned he feels ready to tackle the catacombs under the town. He cleans himself up, noticing that some of the spider bites are still tender and swollen. After a simple breakfast of bread and milk he sits down and spends an hour with his tome of arcane writings and notes, studying the complexities and intricacies of the spells he hopes will be of better use in his explorations.
Once done with his preparations, he heads out to meet the others and resume the search below.

Clarence is up early the next morning, refreshed and ready to get back to exploring the Ancient Thassilonian architecture under the Old Light. He waits impatiently at the designated meeting place in front of the Glassworks for his companions. When Blake arrives, he jumps up and greets the young man, happy to see him refreshed and in good spirits. "Well, my boy. It looks like some sleep has done you good! I hope you haven't developed arachnophobia after that incident down below. I wonder where everyone else is."
Is everyone still around to play?
Blake Deverin |
"Yes, sleep is what I needed...that, and a curative spell from Father Zantus to help restore my weakness. Do not worry, I am not going to let a small swarm of bugs keep me from investigating the ruins under the Old Light. I have not seen any of the others, but I am sure Nornan will be here."
DM Locke1520 |
I'm still here...Sorry, its been a tough couple weeks and the last few days I've been loosing a fight to a sinus headache that has made it hard to be online. For the moment I'll assume everyone is back and still reading I'll PM anyone who doesn't check back in.
Back into the darkened catacombs you retrace your steps to the complex's door and into formerly trapped entry hall and then into the room with the statue of the enraged woman where things last went awry. The room as before teems with insect life but none of it appears hostile or overly dangerous. What is odd and immediately obvious is that the smaller corpse is missing. The larger one-the one that concealed the swarm of spiders seems to be where you left it but the smaller more recent corpse is missing.
Reminder there is a door to the north a passage to the east and another to the south. (maps here)
Blake Deverin |
Blake keeps a wide distance between himself and the remaining corpse but is concerned about the one that is missing. "Hmm, now that is not expected, though I suppose it could have gotten up and walked away as the undead do. Lysa can you tell... has there been any manifestations of evil power in this chamber lately? Blake will center his own eyes on the location the smaller body was once in and open his perception to the spectrum to the arcane.
