"Bandersnatch" McTwilliger |
What do you mean Narissa? Tirion and I have copper kettles and cast iron pots...they are not remotely similar.
Narissa Sandstone |
Narissa laughs. "Exactly, thank you for making my point."
"Bandersnatch" McTwilliger |
I guess the air is thinner up there and that makes you make no sense... Bander says as he gives Narissa's leg a hug
Robert "Bo" Hardin |
Bo sets back in amazement at the folks he was assigned to work with.. A giant lady packing a bigger piece than any of us males, 2 halflings that seem to be on carnival in this dangerous world, and the hunchback of notre dame that needs a bar of soap taken to his mouth..
Bo sighs..
Narissa Sandstone |
Unless someone has a better idea, I think we are going to have Narissa and Bander go up the cliff face using a potion, with a potion left with the others as backup. Unless someone else wants to attack from on high as well? I don't think anyone else is ranged except Bo, and the top of the cliff would be a long distance for Bo's pistol. The scroll will be used to make a sniper blind. Narissa and Bander will put up the scroll when the constructs attack, then start shooting. Narissa will load up the steel rounds the guy in Alkenstar gave her (I believe it was 50 wasn't it?). Ideas from others? Changes? Modifications? Things overlooked?
Draingore the Wretched |
Draingore plans on setting the mecha at range limit, starting bombardment, then setting off a smoke stick. He will wait until they start exiting fort, or the walls are down then racing up with spider. Attacking this outside or climbing the walls and attacking those inside. Depends on situation
Urga the Ogre |
Narissa, what did you have in mind for the rest of us while you snipe on the cliff? A frontal assault is too dangerous. Climbing the wall is not much better. The best option I see is for us to use the secret tunnel.
Narissa Sandstone |
Oh no, I was hoping that you'd all be in the woods ready to either use the tunnel, ambush a sally team, or use the potion and the spiderbot to get over the wall. Alternately, attacking them when they sally out to hit the bot firing at their wall. The only problem with the tunnels is, my understanding was they led up to the cliff, not inside the fort, is that correct? Alternately, if we time it right, the rest of the party and the spider bot could use ropes to drop down inside the fort in the middle of the night and hide ready to attack, we can get everyone up on the cliff with the spider bot if we need to. Then use the potions to get down into the fort under cover of darkness. I don't want to be the one dictating the plan, I just think that Narissa is best used sniping from above. ANd Draingore is best used to do a noisy frontal assault with disposable constructs. After that, how we get everyone else involved is really a team decision. I suggest either laying ambushes for the sally team that come out to attack the assault construct, or them assaulting from behind into the fort from above. I suggest avoiding the tunnels and shocker lizards if possible.
"Bandersnatch" McTwilliger |
its all fine with me I am just going with Narissa as the one to make the cover for her
Urga the Ogre |
I assume the tunnel leads into the fort. I'm a little apprehensive about attacking them as they leave the fort - we could easily get overwhelmed if we fight in the open. I like the stealthy option of climbing up the walls, but then there's no point having you up on the cliff sniping. The best options are to use the diversion of the sniping and war machine to either slip in via the the tunnel or over the wall. The tunnel seems more stealthy and less exposed.
Narissa Sandstone |
You should take some resist potions or scrolls or something with you then. To keep the shocker lizards from overwhelming you.
Robert "Bo" Hardin |
I dont think we have access to resist potions.. I don't know how badass your mechs are but if they get ogres throwing rocks or ballista at them then their prob not gonna last long.. I say we use the cave while the sniper team keeps em distracted..
drbuzzard |
You know the fort was overrun by ogres and the Rangers have fought such many times. They explain that ogres can see in the dark just as well, or even better than during the day, so sneaking in at night more puts you at a disadvantage than anything.
There are two caves, one which goes from the cliff above down into the fort, and the other which goes into a secret door in the fort from behind the waterfall that feeds the moat.
Draingore the Wretched |
Not badass, but significant range (180) It will literally be firing at the side of a very, very large barn. So after the initial shot, I will obscure it with a smoke stick, giving it cover. So, the last three members of the team can decide how they want to engage. I suggest we wait to see how the fort occupants react, and then adjust accordingly. The spider mecha can race to the fort wall and lower ropes will throwing bombs should the need arise. In an open field fight, I will be able to assist with artillery, and bring the mecha in for combat. All the while Narissa will be sniping. IMHO it's a solid plan. Taking on the shocker lizards without Electricity protection seems far more dangerous to me. Especially with only 3 of the group to do it.
Robert "Bo" Hardin |
I think ti would be wise to see how many there are before we confront them in open field..
"I say see how many of the dam things there are before we engauge them.. Sir Jakardros, have you any idea of how many we face?"
"Bandersnatch" McTwilliger |
I'm good to go I am just sitting and concetrating
Robert "Bo" Hardin |
36 Ogres a pittance eh? You sure you just dont want to leave your machine out of sight and hit the back door together?
Robert "Bo" Hardin |
Even if i had spent 1400 dollars on a brand new mountain bike i would still not take it down a trail i knew i couldnt handle without destroying it.. But its your call on that.. Being contructs they have a hardness right?
Narissa Sandstone |
If there's 36 of them, we can't take them out frontally at all. Nor can we retake the fort. What we could do is get EVERYONE up on the cliff, while Draingore does the front assault with his big guy. Then we get some bows for everyone else, and we attack them from above. They'll come up the tunnel to the cliff top, and we can bottle them up at the tunnel entrance and kill them one on 3 or one on 4. Draingore can use his spiderbot to join us if it looks like they're going to overcome his bot. If we can retake the fort by chasing them out, we can hole up in it and have the defensive bonuses.
Robert "Bo" Hardin |
I dont see why the secret tunnel to the inside of the fort is being thrown out the window.. Because of some lizards? If we can get inside the fort than who knows what kind of advantage we could have..
Narissa Sandstone |
It's really up to you Bo, if you want to sneak up to the tunnel and try to use it, that's fine by Narissa. She'll try to give as much cover as possible from above.
Urga the Ogre |
I agree with Bo. Tirion, Bo and Urga will take the tunnel while Narissa, Bander and Draingore provide cover and create a diversion. We will sneak in the back door and kill their leadership and then kill the other ogres as they return. If we agree, then let's get set up. Give us some time to sneak through the tunnels and make it to the secret door before you open up.
"Bandersnatch" McTwilliger |
Sigh...I am going to miss all the fun, just sitting up on a hill. I should have one of those potions so I can run back down the hill once you get spotted.
Narissa Sandstone |
If we're doing that, then Draingore, Bander, and Narissa can break off at camp the night before. Send one potion with each group. Draingore sends Narissa and Bander up the cliff with the spider a half-mile from the fort under cover of darkness (yes I know Ogres can see in the dark, they don't have devil sight to see unlimited, at most 120 ft usually), then we make our way to the fort at dawn, while Draingore sets up, and start the attack at Noon. That gives the rest of the team about 4 hours to get into the tunnel and ready.
Robert "Bo" Hardin |
Bo Will burn himself something a bit more quite to use.. He'll look for a mwk light crossbow.. With his rapid reload and ranged feats he can fire it twice in a round and much more quietly than the gun.. Is there one of those for purchase?
I agree with the above plan btw..
"Bandersnatch" McTwilliger |
don't you have to take rapid reload w specific weapons?
Robert "Bo" Hardin |
Yup you do, oh well.. Just 1 shot then.. At least im not making a bunch of noise..
Bo will have to borrow from the party stash to buy the weapon.. If thats ok.. 150 to be exact..
"Bandersnatch" McTwilliger |
As long as you repay the loot master here doesn't care
"Bandersnatch" McTwilliger |
Just mark the loot sheet what you borrowed and subtract from what we have
Robert "Bo" Hardin |
When we can sell loot it will be repaid..
Narissa Sandstone |
Look at the bright side Tir. You can be a nice glowy christmas tree decoration after they shock you. And you've had practice hanging around. ;)
drbuzzard |
The ranger leader does pipe up. "First of all, we want to be involved in this. It was our fort, and we are hungry for revenge. Secondly, I don't think you realize that getting in under the waterfall will need a distraction. The waterfall is right adjacent to the fortress walls, and can easily be kept under observation. Now I know ogres enough to realize they are pretty lousy at diligence, but I don't want unnecessary risks. We'll need some sort of distraction before we even try to get into the waterfall and through the caves otherwise we are sure to be spotted. As you can see the waterfall comes down here on the right side of the walls (if you are on the inside). We'll need the distraction to draw the ogres to the left side of the walls or I don't like our chances of getting inside undetected. "
Draingore the Wretched |
Draingore's index finger digs deep into his nostril as the ranger talks. He finds something and digs it out with a great deal of satisfaction. He flicks the semi-hard excretion a good three feet from his position.
So what yas saying, is ya need a distraction?
Narissa Sandstone |
Narissa nods. "No one was excluding you. Flik has done an amazing job getting you back on your feet, it's hard to recognize you." She looks over the map. "Ok then, we hit them at dawn instead of noon? Draingore, you set your construct up to attack on the opposite side as the waterfall. When they all respond to that, I can start sniping at them from above. That should get them all looking either up or in the opposite direction of the waterfall, anywhere but at the base of the waterfall."
Robert "Bo" Hardin |
Bo makes a face at the bugger flicking.. "Seems like your contraptions could handle that easily.."
"Bandersnatch" McTwilliger |
Nice shot!
Does your spider thing climb? If it climbs you could take us up the kill in the middle of the night and then if we get spotted I could climb down and join the fun.
I might just get a heavy crossbow and start firing once they figure out we are there.
"Bandersnatch" McTwilliger |
How about you give me and Blaster here a ride up in the middle of the night, then if I need to get back down I can drink the potion.
note I am ready to go once the real raiders of the fort are ready.
Narissa Sandstone |
"Ogres can see in the dark. They can't see any farther in the dark than dwarves can. I can sneak past a dwarf to a sniping position a lot easier at night in the forest than I can in the day time, I just have to keep my distance." She sounds as if she's sneaked past dwarves in the dark before in order to shoot them.
