The runes on the wall do read as Thasselonian. They seem to be a chronicles of sort.

The myst at the end of the hallway (once you get close enough for detect magic to work) glow very strongly in transmutation.

Rifle feels normal when poked in, and comes back out looking the same.

You feel a bit of a tingle, but pass through without trouble.

This chamber is paved with ivory tiles, each one engraved with a silver rune depicting what appears to be a claw gripping a gemstone. The walls and ceiling are of polished marble. A large silver basin in the center of the room contains an icy sculpture of a whale spraying crystal-clear water from its blowhole. The water cascades around it to keep the basin full, but never quite overflowing.

In the water of the fountain some winged humanoids who seem to be made of water are frolicking. They gab at you in some language you don't get (unless you speak aquan).

Obi slides the flametongue taken from the dragon's hoard out of its sheath and experimentally taps it against the floor a few times.

"How does this thing work again?" he muses to himself as he works out the mechanisms of the magic for a moment.

"Aha! Got it!" he says with satisfaction as the longsword bursts into flame.

Brandishing the flaming weapon in his right hand while holding his rifle in his right he says to the mephits:

"Why don't you watery nancy-boys come over here and do that again."

Nonetheless this silver guy walks in here and starts tossing spells at us. He's very powerful and we have to run or die. I don't know why he's such a sourpuss. "

Another one pipes up. "You friend could be a fish. That mist sometimes makes people into fish. It's kinda cool. They get made into fish, and then dumped into one of the fountains in here. Just not this one. "
