Greetings fellow adventurer's to be. A pleasure.

DM Ninja/infinite

I'll get the opening set up for tomorrow, you all will be meeting (traditionally, of course) in the Rusty Dragon.

If you want to start chatting together, go right ahead.

Checking in.

Man, do we have an eclectic bunch of adventurers. We're going to make for quite the colourful crew.

Out of curiosity, are any of you arcane caster types planning on going the craft magical items route? My build is a little stat intensive and I see a number of stat boosting items in my future. Hopefully at only half price, wink, wink, nudge, nudge ;)

{HP 16/36 | AC13 T13 FF10 CMD 16 | F/R/W 4/6/4 | Inish +5, Per +9}Female Elf Ranger (Urban Ranger) 3 / Wizard (Foreteller) 3

Considering every single one of us (except Biter) could conceivably take a craft item feat, it wouldn't hurt for each of us to take at least one. I do get Scribe Scroll for free for what it's worth, and I'm not yet sure what my build will be (I tend to level based on what I do with only a small bit of planning).

If you'd like Biter to contribute, he could take Master Craftsman, though I think that's a double feat investment.

... or I could just promise to kick large amounts of ass in exchange for magic items. :)

Though all this could be moot if the AP doesn't allow the necessary downtime.

{HP 16/36 | AC13 T13 FF10 CMD 16 | F/R/W 4/6/4 | Inish +5, Per +9}Female Elf Ranger (Urban Ranger) 3 / Wizard (Foreteller) 3

Hmm, downtime. That's a good point Biter. And I doubt anyone would expect you to contribute two feats for it. Though I could be proven wrong.

I'm actually looking over my build now. I'm planning on focusing on ranged combat, using the wizard stuff for utility/buffs (with the occasional damage spell for annoying things, like swarms). So spending the wizard feats shouldn't be a big deal, if allowed.

Checking in... Let's definitely hear from Spiral on the pacing of the game, our access to magic items and her feelings on Item Creation before we get too far down the planning path.

I guess it also depends on how easy it will be to buy magic items. Craft wand kind of sucks as a feat, but low level wands are amazing, so if we can't buy them, then it might be worth the investment. Normally, the only really useful one in craft wondrous items, but it really just comes down to availability.

I don't think anyone absolutely has to take crafting feats, I was just curious to see if anyone was going to.

On that note, what is everyone's character combat role?

Kaddoc's built for melee damage. He uses a polearm and has combat reflexes so he can provide some battlefield control. He should be able to provide some battle heals in an emergency, but wont be that great at it until 5th level when he can pop in and out of rage without suffering fatigue.

money roll:3d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 5) = 12

HP: 24/24 - AC:15|15|11 - CMD:18 - F:+3|R:+6|W:+4 - Per:+7 Init:+3 - Spells: 1st 6/6

Strae is designed to be a close-in tactical combatant and spell-slinger. So he uses his monk abilities to deal a bit of damage and get him into position to put his spells and bloodline abilities to best effect. With the 'Pyromaniac' gnome trait - he is quite good with fire spells. I'll be going with a balanced mix of offensive, defensive, and solid utilitarian spells.

So I'm shooting for a highly mobile front-liner with spells that make life hell for anyone crossing us. :)

It's probably obvious, but Biter is a scout, tracker (if not our best), and tiny little wrecking ball. But most of all, he's a 3-foot tall Conan in green skin.

I really just have a lot of fun with him, though. :D

DM Ninja/infinite

I'm fairly open on magic items. If you have the 3.5 magic item compendium you can use items form that (cough - healing belt - cough).

I like it if you can post fairly often. I try for once a day myself. If something comes up that you can't post let me know here in discussion so I can make arrangements.

For combat once initiatives are set I'll post the order. You don't have to post in order, just give several options per round in case your target is taken out before you act.

DM Ninja/infinite

Here's a standard format for combat info (from a character of mine):

Defense:
AC: 14, Touch: 11, Flat-footed: 13
CMD: 13
Fort: +3, Ref: +1, Will: +5

Offense:
Glaive (2-hand) +1 19-20 x3 / 1d10+0
Lt Crossbow +1 19-20 x2 / 1d8
Battle Aspergillum +1 19-20 x2 / 1d6+0+ special (5 charges holy water)
CMB +1

Status:
HP: 14/14 AC: 14
Conditions: None Duration: (if applicable) x out of x rounds)
Spells: 0th: 4/4; 1st: domain: 1/1; standard: 3/3

DM Ninja/infinite

Other game notes; I believe this AP does have downtime that can be used for item creation. I'll let the party decide how to handle that, up to and including the often acrimonious issue of tipping the crafter.

Character creation and leveling: I do allow rebuilds free up to the first time you level. After that, it depends on the situation. For example: only two gestalt classes does not necessarily mean no prestige class, just only 2 at any one time. This does make it easier to rebuild a character as you could change out one part of the gestalt for something else that qualifies.

Group interactions: think of it as family; you may not like Cousin Bob, but he's family and that opponent isn't. Roleplaying is good. Same with really liking someone, PC or NPC. Just keep it consensual and, well, pg. ;)

Magic items: I'm fairly open, we use the Healing Belt from the 3.5 Magic Item Compendium a lot. Ask me first.

On 3PP stuff; PF version supersedes.

OK, I get you wanting a Status spoiler during combat rounds in the IC thread. Regarding your Offense/Defense notes - is that just your preferred format to make the character sheets quick to read or do you want that posted elsewhere as well? Do you want an abridged version of HP, AC, Saves, Init, and Perception in the Class/Level/Gender fields? i.e. something like Sparrow's entry.

DM Ninja/infinite

I just want a quick way to see if my monsters hit without checking each character sheet. I'm not wedded to any specific format.

Sparrow's entry works just fine.

Here's a quick Sandpoint timeline that those of you who are local would know.

Timeline as Known:
4665 AR: Sandpoint is founded by four families; the Deverins (farmers and brewers), the Kaijitsus (glassmakers and jewlers), the Scarnettis (loggers and millers), and the Valdemars (shipbuilders and carpenters).

4675 AR: Shuichi Kaijitsu dies. Ownership of Glassworks passes to Rokuro Kaijitsu.

4677 AR: Casp Avertin is appointed Sheriff of Sandpoint.

4680 AR: Birth of Amaya Kaijitsu, illegitimate daughter of Lonjiku by a Chelish/Tian woman.

4686 AR: Atsuii Kaijitsu, wife of Lonjiku, gives birth to a half-elven son, to be named Tsuto. She never identifies his biological father and he is raised separately from the family at the Turandarok Academy.

4687 AR: A great storm sweeps the west coast of Avistan, stretching over 1000 miles from Kalsgard to Magnimar. Many lives are lost at sea and through the destruction brought about by the storm surge. During the storm, Brinewall is completely destroyed by unknown forces. Everyone in town vanishes, including Rokuro Kaijitsu. His fleet, carrying his sons, sinks in the storm. Rokuro's wife, believing her entire family dead, commits suicide. Lonjiku survives however, and the ownership of the Glassworks passes to him. Jervis Stoot settles in Sandpoint.

4689 AR: Ameiko Kaijitsu, the first of Lonjiku’s legitimate children, is born to Lonjiku and Atsuii.

4701 AR: After a disastrous attempt to reconcile the bad blood between her half-brother Tsuto and her father results in her brother striking her, Ameiko Kaijitsu runs away from home, joining her mother's family in Magnimar.

4702 AR: The events of the “Late Unpleasantness” begin, bringing multiple tragedies to Sandpoint. Atsuii Kaijitsu dies a mysterious fall from the sea cliff near her home. A serial killer known as The Chopper murders 25 victims, including Sheriff Casp Avertin, before being identified as local eccentric artist Jervis Stoot. A great fire sweeps through the town, claiming several lives and destroying much of the northern part of town, including the Sandpoint Chapel. Among the deaths are Father Ezakien Tobyn and his adopted aasimar daughter Nualia. Word of her mother’s death causes Ameiko to return home, but she finds home as unpleasant as ever. After accusing Lonjiku of murdering Atsuii, Tsuto walks out on the family at the funeral, leaving Ameiko alone with her bitter father.

4705 AR: The now 16 year old Ameiko Kaijitsu leaves home for the second time to take up life as an adventurer with several like-minded youths. Her adventuring career lasts just over a year.

4706 AR: Rich from her adventuring success, Ameiko returns to Sandpoint to purchase an old tavern, “The Rusty Dragon,” and scandalizes her father by becoming a bartender and tavern keeper. Lonjiku begins searching for his illegitimate children.

4710 AR: After the events in Westcrown, Amaya Kaijitsu travels to Varisia and Sandpoint, bringing with her twin daughters. She joins her father at the glassworks. She and Ameiko become friends, but Tsuto is furious. Arrival of Ryu Kaijitsu as well.

What happened to my family would be fairly common knowledge. So would the fact that I am generally moody and tend towards the melancholy.

My newly found capabilities, not so much. Not that I'll be hiding what I am, it's just that I've only found my blade in the past day or so and have not shown it to anybody yet.

You could start an RP tavern or start the game in a Tavern to get everyone posting and getting things moving.

Wow, it's been active, I did not notice that the gameplay thread has live for the past few days.

And if you wish to label Mai as a NPC in the game you can go to the campaign tab, click edit, then at the lower right is a set of double check boxes, one for active(as in playing the game), the other is NPC, when NPC is checked it'll register Mai as an NPC in the player and character tabs.

Hey Ryu, I noted your little dice rolling question. Not to step on the DM's toes here...

The formula you want to use the dice roller here is:

[*dice]1d20+7[*/dice]

NOTE: If you delete the two * it will work perfectly, like so...

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

There is an online cheatsheet as well. Look below the box where you enter text and you'll see a button next to a sign saying "How to format your text".

Okay, I really apologize to Spiral and everybody. For some context, my baby girl wasn't supposed to be born until July 8th, so I thought I had nearly a month after acceptance to get the game going before interruptions. As is always the case, it didn't go according to plan. She was born on Sunday, after a weekend in the hospital because my wife had been running a high fever, and we spent until Wednesday at the hospital.

The short version is that I still want to play, and will try to get a post up at least once a day until my schedule normalizes. I'll understand if people would rather move on more quickly. Let me know, and if you're all fine, I'll work to get an intro post put together.

Okay, I'm just now catching up, and I'm a little confused? Does Azure Zero have a pc and an npc? And one with an identical avatar as one of the other players, to boot?

You have all my sympathy. My daughter was 6 weeks early as well, due to my developing preeclampsia.

I hope they're both OK. As a high of reassurance she's 18 now and doing fine.

As for Azure's situation, if it causes an issue I'll have him drop her.

I will also allow anyone else who wants a 'minion' to make one as well, however NONE of them will be allowed to assist in combat. Period.
