Sure, I doubted he'll be surrendering, but it gives me a chance to wait for backup.
DM Goldstool |
Oh yes, I'll be two of me by the end of dinner! I have no expectation for posting today on anyone's end, enjoy whatever festivities or relaxation the day may bring you.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Halcyon d'Orsay |
Hope everyone had a fulfilling (or at least filling) day!
DM Goldstool |
Drunk as any man in a bar on New Years, but yes, yes there is. I am surprised that I remembered to add their person to the map.
If there are any questions, I'll gladly take them. If you choose to enter a mirror, please state which one you intend to enter, as there will be many mirrors, not all magically enhanced. If you charge into a regular mirror, I want to make you feel bad for it ;)
I want to tell you all that while approaching the one year anniversary, I am very happy to have you all stay this long. PbP gaming is still largely new to me, and I really struggle with timing/pace, and I want to thank you all for making me a better DM. Really, you all are the best, and this past almost-one year we have had, almost without combat until this encounter, has really made my glad.
DM Goldstool |
Post'll be up tomorrow! Raphael, if you don't act, I will be acting as you. If no one gives Valentina the order to shoot, her readied action is lost. Up to the players on that one, she will not receive an AoO as Seth will be provoking that.
Halcyon, you may begin to question Pathfinder or interact with the Inn as you wish. I'll be removing you from the combat order for now, though will re-enter if called upon or attacked at your previous initiative. Mainly I just don't want to limit you to six seconds of talking here.
DM Goldstool |
Presumably Sage, but she can shoot one of you three in the wardrobe or Nishara if you like ;) Noticed I did not update the map, always the step I forget. Much apologies.
Looking at those rolls though, he might be unconscious after that damage is applied. Will make a write up later today.
Raphael Montefiore |
Hey guys, sorry for going radio silent. I did some holiday travelling and had a technical breakdown that left me (unexpectedly) without internet access. I just got back this evening and will post in a bit. I will be a bit spotty through the rest of the end of the year between work and holiday stuff.
DM Goldstool |
No worries! Was afraid everyone was slowly disappearing ;)
For the next few days I may be rather spotty myself. Have around fifty screenplay pages to write for Thursday, so if I get around to posting, it will only be for in-between working on those.
I'll probably try to get something special up for the one year anniversary. Maybe wrap the encounter up with a nice little bow, post some vignettes of other peoples' night, et cetera.
DM Goldstool |
@Seth, the rolls were actually to be made for you and Marcus, I just grabbed the wrong lines from my big ol' rolls sheet. Raphael has already seen it with his Survival roll.
My mistake, in this case, it should only be known to Marcus/Raphael. Unfortunately with that +1 Perception Mod, even rolling a 16 didn't help.
Post should be going up later today or tomorrow afternoon. Most of my time is becoming out now that classes are ending.
DM Goldstool |
Happy one year anniversary! Let loose the balloons! Sound the alarms! Kazoos for everyone to chip in with! Wooooo!
Seriously, you four (and the two who didn't make it this far) have given me far too many smiles, laughs and series of deep thoughts. I'd never been able to realize so many characters, build a world to what is is now, and commit to a project this long without the help and participation of all of you. Looking back to that day when I finalized everyone in recruitment, I know that I made the right choices all around.
I wish I had medals to hand out. Wish I could pass around the proverbial six pack and open up the proverbial pizza box for everyone here. The semester has come to a close, the actual New Year approaches us once more and all I want is to be a better DM for you all so we can make the best story we can!
To one more year!

Amen to that! Out of the past year, this is the one of two PbPs I am in that is still active. This game has been a blast, and I hope it keeps going.
DM Goldstool |
I was thinking something like a limited Hero Point, restricted to bonuses or rerolls on Int/Cha/Wis rolls, a la the Hero Points rules. I'll already be giving everyone an additional Contact (remember those? Been a while) after the encounter ends, but still, something for the sake of celebration. I'll hone in on what I want you all to have.
DM Goldstool |
Post up later tonight. I'll be assuming Raphael follows Valentina and Seth back to the Inn if a post doesn't say otherwise.
DM Goldstool |
@Marcus, Leave the room? No. There are multiple castings of Mirror Transport going on. To your knowledge there is the one at the Inn, the one in the Wardrobe, the one in the Basement. That is why their mirror realms all have different mirrors present within them to hop to, they are only linked in a certain way by separate castings of the same spell.
The Inn mirror has been exited by seven individuals. This is a known fact by everyone. Note, I am not counting your familiar, Marcus, I am excluding that. An exit counts as hopping somewhere new, not returning to were a particular mirror realm's origin mirror. Were it a wizard who made the magic item, that seventh person would end the effect, yet it remains. Either the CL was purposely raised for the Man in the Mirror's item, or Madeline is right, and a sorcerer made it at CL 8. She is justing noting that a CL7 spell would have ended, and is assuming then a sorcerer made it at CL8, the level a sorcerer would be able to cast such a spell. The following is all assuming the spell is indeed a CL8 spell. If it is CL9, you have nothing to worry about, beside the question of "why would someone spend thousands creating this item at a purposely higher magic level."
Six/Seven individuals have also exited the Wardrobe mirror. The players never saw MiTM enter/exit, it is up to player's guess/deduction if the leader actually used that mirror, he could have left the room/left via other ways. Sage was unconscious when he "exited" the Wardrobe mirror. As no one identified the spell, let alone got a check that soared over identifying the spell, I won't say if Sage "counts," leaving that as unknown knowledge.
Entering and exitting the basement mirror will go off without a hitch, a maximum of one person, the Man in the Mirror, has used that mirror. But again, unknown if he actually used it. You and Nishara may use this mirror without issue, but it is unknown where it's exits are, with the exception of a link back to the Wardrobe. If either Sage exit "counts" AND the Man in the Mirror used the Wardrobe mirror, then yes, Nishara would be stranded in Romane's Wardrobe should you choose to exit from there.
Keep in mind, Marcus only knows that the spell is losing time, not that there may only be one more exit left. You are aware one of you may get stranded, but unaware if Romane's Mirror has only one more "charge" left.
I have never said I was a nice DM. I purposely designed this encounter to split the party, and if you didn't knock out Pathfinder so quickly, even more of you would have been left behind somewhere. You can continue the chase, try to make it home via Mirrors and hope you don't leave your sister behind, or attempt a third exit through Romane's House, the Basement House or whever the next Mirror Transport may take you.

I'll be concluding the day over the weekend, most likely on Sunday afternoon. If there is anything in particular you would like to do, please have the post up at that time.
Happy New Year everyone! I meant to make the topical post yesterday, but got a bit sidetracked in learning how to use some neat-o excel functions. Hope everyone had a chance to breathe and celebrate in some way.
And Marcus, no one in the house is dead, fret not.

Hey folks. Happy New Year! I'm sorry for going radio silent for so long, but I've not been able to catch up properly between all the family stuff over the holidays. I got behind and it was just too much. I should be able to catch up tomorrow or the day after though, so I"ll get something up soon. :) Enjoy the long weekend.

@ALL: I've been fooling around with Google Sites for campaign management. Things like tracking NPCs, plot points and hooks. Would that be something you would like to see?
The post is almost ready to go up, though I'm giving buffer time for any closing comments, questions, et cetera. We will all be advancing to FOURTH LEVEL when we wake up. If you could make a discussion post with your changes (New HP, New Saves, Modified Skill values, Class features) it would be greatly appreciated. This is also the curtain call for any changes to your character, be they skill point changes, different feat selection, archetypes et cetera. Please PM me if you would like to modify anything before advancement formally occurs. After that, you may retrain and pay the appropriate gold costs and time for such changes.
I will also be reopening recruitment in the near future. I feel the one I had lined up is slipping and there has been some radio silence for a while. I will likely open 1-2 spots. If in-character you are seeking a special role to help in the future (say you would like to be chummy with a Guard, a Galatian, or just a tracker, holy warrior, et cetera), post them here and I can make a special mention for what we are looking for.
If you have a friend or particular player in one of your games that does well and RPs good, feel free to pass the mention.
Halcyon d'Orsay |
Feel free to mention the spot to the players in the WOTR campaign.
DM Goldstool |
Feel free to mention the spot to the players in the WOTR campaign.
I was thinking of doing that with your permission, what a crowd.
Halcyon d'Orsay |
I am the GM of a WOTR campaign, but I was not saying there are openings. Goldstool has a character in that campaign and all the players are doing an excellent job, so I was suggesting GS advertise for the spots in this campaign to the players of the WOTR campaign.
If you want to look at the characters, here is the campaign link.
DM Goldstool |
Just about to reach second level, I almost died from a Wizard's familiar. Fun times, the first time I've ever played an unchained class before too.
DM Goldstool |
Got a person by PM who is in talks right now, we will see where that goes. I have someone I know who is interested in playing as well, but they aren't sure if they can make the time commitment. We will see where that goes, otherwise I'll find a sixth.
So I made This which I plan on maintaining. So far, only the character pages on the left and the NPCs have been added. Each NPC shows their relation with the party overall, and specific members, along with some of their major actions throughout the night.
In the near future, I plan to add all the known factions, plot hooks, integrate the Intersession things here so we aren't all bouncing between three google documents.
Post is up later tonight, it is a long one, be warned. I will be post ~6PM EST, if you'd like a little bit longer for a last post, post now or forever hold your peace.
DM Goldstool |
is one of those people Icehawk?
he's good at RP.
Ice is still in the running, but hasn't responded in a bit. He had an interesting character concept and was looking at a few classes that are among my favorites, and said that he would be developing it as he has the time. His seat is still saved should he want to join in, but I was not referring to him in the above.
DM Goldstool |
Definitely not for a possible player: ???: 3d8 ⇒ (2, 4, 8) = 14

Health Roll: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Pretty good health roll. So my four points for skills went to these four
Diplomacy
Craft(Weapons)
Knowledge(Nobility)
Sense Motive
Gained another cast of Challenge. No saves have changed and the ability score boost went to Strength
Halcyon d'Orsay |
I can't find my character creation notes for Halcyon, so please remind me how we are doing hit points for the new level. Thanks.
DM Goldstool |
Normal, no drops if low. Retraining can be spent during intersession with appropriate pay (120 days) and time.
I'm just about done on the personal character intersession site pages, made 3/4 so far, I'll be finalizing those and sending you all URLs so you can have a bit of privacy with them.

Thanks

Hmph. I just noticed that Halcyon's business name, "d'Or Consultant Services," if reduced to an acronym, reads dOrCS. I was wondering why all these half-orc barbarians kept showing up asking, "Where'r d'orcs?"
I've done the level up details, but will have to wait to update my profile and explore ideas for the interim.
DM Goldstool |
All you need to do is hire a Rage Prophet and you can have an answer for them. Or you can mishear them and yell "I'm not a dork!"
Technically, because of how Orc Weapon Familiarity is worded, I might allow orcs and half-orcs to wield your building as a martial weapon. Pray an Orc invasion doesn't occur, or else nothing will be safe.
DM Goldstool |
Sent out Intersession pages, check your inboxes. If you want added security and have a gmail account, I can make it only available to your account I believe as well. If you want that, just respond to the PM a gmail account email and I can see what I can do.
Everyone is free to act how they like, you may wish to check with your circles/conduct your personal business as soon as you wish. Everyone's page has some personal quests at the bottom, things that might be relevant to you. If there are others you'd like to see, or ones you think I missed, PM and I can add them. Not too difficult to do on my end.

Glubglub reporting for duty.
DM Goldstool |
Everyone, I'd like to formally announce the fifth member of the game: Guillaumine Sanz. Our only not pretending to be or not actually human!
We'll be doing a formal in game union soon enough as they finalize their character and as the opportunity arises. I'll keep in touch Sanz, and I'll have a post coming up tomorrow for those who posted today.
Halcyon d'Orsay |
I had added a summon monster spell, but then remembered this had some restrictions. The design document has summoning magic in the list of restrictions. "Spells capable of contacting other outsiders, either binding or planar travel. A notable exception to this rule is a summoner’s eidolon, some instances of summon monster and a witch’s patron." What are the exceptions for the summon monster II list. I'll choose something else if this would be trouble.
DM Goldstool |
Looking at the D20PFSRD Summon monster page, everything with the exception of the Lemure Devil and the Elemental would be legal. Looking over future summon spells, so long as it doesn't have any subtypes (Good/Evil/Elemental/Chaotic et cetera) you should be in the clear.
Halcyon d'Orsay |
So the fact that the creatures with an asterisk are summoned with a celestial template doesn't make them outsiders? For example, the summoned giant frog statistics define it as "celestial animal" if summoned by a good character. They can also be summoned with other templates related to Law (resolute), Evil (fiendish), or Chaos (Entropic).
