Tigerwolf Runt |
Tigerwolf turned hearing the fall and seeing the Kobold fall she would grunt and turns back to the other. "The boat? We wish to go find your king and tell him of the other claiming to be king. Also, to get the supplies we need. You said the boat will take us around to the weedy lady?"
Mercurion |
“The fishing boat is on other side of the Eye,” the kobold answered, waving vaguely around towards the other side of the low rise that marked the cave entrance. “You can go through the Eye and land on top of weedy lady, or take the boat through the Mouth. Many tasty crawfish in the rocks around the Mouth.” Squib smacked his own mouth appreciatively at the thought.
Tigerwolf Runt |
"Unless the Eye can fit our giant friend here we take the boat. Garmack are you done with the annoyance?" She looked back not seeing any kobold and nods.
"Alright friend you are coming with us." She said patting the kobold on his not injured shoulder. "Lead the way to the boat. Maybe we can get some crawfish for the feast when the king returns. Grins at him and motions him to lead. "We don't have long before they discover his body and warn the weedy lady. Let us not waste time."
Greez Fhang |
A hand reached over to tap Tigerwolf on the head a few times. "Hide body. Take longer maybe till notice." And right after mentioning the suggestion had did a leap in direction of that boat. A short tumble as landed just to close the gap even more was done even if was more just for enjoyment.
Doctor Majuba |
The Doctor nods to Greez's suggestion. Maybe take it with us and dump it in the lake
I will heal Odak and myself with 2 charges off my wand, also I healed Karol after our last combat.
Garmack Scareye |
Garmack walks over to the kobold and retrieves his arrow form the corpse. Seeing Urrogajutar sniffing at the body he draws his falchion and hacks off a limb making sure their friend isn't looking his way before whispering to his companion
"Waste not want not eh? Just try to be a little subtle, don't want to frighten our friend over there."
Odak the Iron Giant |
> Odak graciously accepting the healing from the ten foot tall Majuba and picks his things up again, namely the two human prisoners he's become quite attached to now.
"I like new friends, not dead ones"
Karol Heart Singer |
Karol looks at odak. just make sure they are friends, odak
He follows the rest of the party.
Doctor Majuba |
"I like new friends, not dead ones"
I like the play you put on with them..hehehehehe The Doctor chuckles sounding like a broken garbage disposal
Mercurion |
Squib nodded and began to lead the group around the low limestone ridge. The kobold seemed nervous now, alone and in the presence of a contingent of orcs. He glanced up—way up—at Odak, Greez, and Majuba with a mixture of fear and awe.
Noting his consternation, Dergosh came over and patted him on the head. “Good little Wolftooth ally,” he boomed. Studying the kobold for a moment, the cleric asked, ”So kobold, why don’t you have little googly rock eyes? You quit the moss?”
Squib forgot his fear for the moment and frowned angrily. ”Stupid weedy lady keeps it all for herself and her bad fish. And Mouse Breath and his friends. No one else gets any.” He lapsed into a sullen silence as he brought the group around to the far side of the rise where a boat—really nothing more than a shoddily constructed raft—was tied up in a small stream lined with overhanging trees. Forty feet down the slow stream it flowed into more quickly moving rivulet that angled back towards the limestone rise.
”There she is,” Squib beamed proudly as if showing off the flagship of the royal navy. ”Only, don’t tell anybody I showed you or I’ll get in trouble. River over there,” he said, indicating the faster moving water, “goes into the Mouth and then into the Eye, only we never take it past the Mouth because water goes too fast to get back out.”
<tag all>
The raft appears to be stable enough to hold one large, two medium, or three small creatures at a time. Odak’s armor probably counts as its own large creature just judging by eye how much you think the “boat” can hold at one time.
Odak the Iron Giant |
> Carrying the two humans under his arms, he looks down at the tiny boat and furrows his brow disappointedly,
"Always too small, have to try the cave instead"
The giant turns down to his human prisoners and lifts them up to his chest, hugging them,
"You afraid of caves, or water? I protect you anyway"
Tigerwolf Runt |
Tigerwolf looked at it and at Odak with a sigh. He was just to big for most things. That was okay she liked his large size. "Don't get too attached to them Odak. I don't think the chieftain will let you keep them. He still gets to decide their fates."
Looking at the others she turned to the Kobold after eyeing the bank to see if Odak could make his way around. "How far into the eye would we have to go and how small does it get?"
Greez Fhang |
He does a flip to the banks of the water and crouched at the edge. Left hand swipes at the surface and splashed the water some. Attention went toward the small boat and grunts then looks in direction of the cave they had to go into. "Water deep?"
His eyes squinted to look to see if able to see the bottom of the water were going to travel through. At same time seeing if anything seems off within the water.
Perception check: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Garmack Scareye |
Garmack looks at the raft apprehensively, not being too thrilled at the idea of trusting himself and his companions to such a fragile looking contraption.
"I must ask, is moving into the caves one or two at a time really a good idea? What if the first to arrive is ambushed?"
Mercurion |
Looking at the others she turned to the Kobold after eyeing the bank to see if Odak could make his way around. "How far into the eye would we have to go and how small does it get?"
The kobold scrunched up his face again. "Maybe only 18 or 300 miles, not far. Go past glowing cave and over a couple of waterfalls. Please don't ruin boat though, I'll get in trouble. Then no moss for me for sure."
Greez could see that the slow stream where the boat was tied up was relatively shallow, no more than six or seven feet deep. Out in the faster moving rivulet it was no doubt over their heads, even for the tall members of the party.
Doctor Majuba |
Even the Doctor realizes he is more smarter than the kobold. Can we walk along the not so deep parts and go together
Odak the Iron Giant |
"Don't get too attached to them Odak. I don't think the chieftain will let you keep them. He still gets to decide their fates."
> Odak holds the humans closer to his plated chest, looking visibly apprehensive.
"Can we walk along the not so deep parts and go together"
> Odak turns to the short, skinny Orc and nods,
"Wade through water? Crawl in cave? I will follow"Karol Heart Singer |
Karol taps out his pipe, as looks at the boat.
I suppose this is a bad time to mention I don't know how to swim. Why dont we take the boat, and some of us swim, holding on to the boat. That way we all get across at the same time.
Garmack Scareye |
Garmack shakes his head sadly at Karol's plan
"If only such a plan might work, sadly Urrogajutar cannot swim either and he is much larger than you so you could not both fit on the raft. Might I suggest we split into two smaller groups? Odak, Doc, Myself and Dergosh could go through the cave entrance while we send Karol and Tigerwolf on the raft with Greez swimming behind?"
Mercurion |
Even the Doctor realizes he is more smarter than the kobold. Can we walk along the not so deep parts and go together
You can certainly wade along the slow side stream. Once you get into the faster moving water it would be iffy, and once you hit the cave mouth it would definitely be swimming time.
Odak the Iron Giant |
> Odak treads over back to where the cave is, peering down at his human captives, crouching down low and dropping them down to their feet, holding them upright,
"You two can come and help, or stay here til I get back. Maybe you look good to friends if you help", the giant whispers low, looking down at them with disarming gaze.
Odak the Iron Giant |
Do you mean the cave where you first encountered the two kobolds? That is a few hundred yards away from the fishing boat on the other side of the low limestone rise.
Oh! Didn't know it was that far away, just assume Odak meant to do this off to the side and not in anybody's way
Greez Fhang |
Stares still longer down into the water. Head snapped over in direction of hearing the suggestion to split up. "Why split? Logs used pulled with raft?"
After giving a suggestion, actually scanned around to see if any nearby big enough trees are in sight. Sure he wasn't book smart at all but was highly clever. The awkward smirk on face had himself proud of such a idea. Sadly, attention went back to the water to splash at it with one large hand to make it make some noise. Not minding if a splash accidentally hit any of those handling the mission with.
Karol Heart Singer |
are ther any trees around?

Dergosh tilted his head and slowly nodded at Greez's suggestion. "Maybe some rope, too," he said lost on thought. "Even if little Wolftooth allies don't know how to pull boat back out of river. smart orcs like Karol and..." he looked around,"...ahhhh, Karol, can figure out how to do it. Plus, how hard can swimming be?" he inquired with his usual tactical expertise.
Karol Heart Singer |
about as hard as learning to walk, I guess. If fish can do it dergosh, we can. All of us are smarter than fish...I guess. Karol looks at the water morosely.
Greez Fhang |
A glance over shoulder was done as the water was heard talked about by both Dergosh and Karol. Attention went back to the water before just jumping in so it at least only went up to waist or below. Mostly was just testing the depth. The large orc then wades some back and forth with hands slapping at the water to make loud clap like sounds. Eyes still making sure nothing bad would actually come from the water.
"Wet and fun!"
Odak the Iron Giant |
> Odak thuds forward towards Dergosh and Karol with solemn eyes, holding the humans against his sides,
"I am too heavy for swimming, armour is too."
The giant turns his head with a light grating of metal to see the giant Orc Greez playing about in the water. He would really want to join him but he can't leave the human captives alone. He does however raise a valid point,
"If we stay here, we should rest. Else, we should get going."
Tigerwolf Runt |
Tigerwolf studied each of her team mate surprised by the lack of actual decision making. She had hoped their would be more to the boat but this comment about waterfalls was bothering her. She looked down at the kobold frowning slightly.
Since so few swam and the boat couldn't even hold Odak on his own it was of little use to them. They could make a raft out of the overhanging trees but that would take time. More time than they could really risk.
"Friend, can Odak and my other tall friends fit in the eye? Also once within the mouth are their any ledges and such that let you travel further without having to be in the water?"
Looking at the others she growled loud enough to get their attention.
"Alright we have two choices. We swim, and risk waterfalls and who knows what else. Or two we risk the caves and our larger members have to crawl. We have trees where we can make a raft but we do not have the time unless you want to deal with being surrounded. We also have to keep up with our human prisoners in the deal." She gives them a hard look. "And Odak has decided to protect them for some reason. With all the complications of swimming the cave is probably our best bet."
GM IS there no way to walk the shore all the way there. Right now neither seems like a viable option and we are getting steered towards taking on the caves.
Karol Heart Singer |
Karol shakes himself. you're right tigerwolf. If there is no other way, we go by cave. Besides... he grins it's not like the dark is a problem to us.
Karol gets up, and starts chivering everyone along.
Come on, let's get going. Faster gone, faster arrive.
Doctor Majuba |
If I have to crawl, I will crawl. I would rather try my luck on boat The doctor will start moving after Tigerwolf and Karol
Mercurion |
>Tigerwolf>"Friend, can Odak and my other tall friends fit in the eye? Also once within the mouth are their any ledges and such that let you travel further without having to be in the water?"
”You can stop at the glowing cave, that is before the waterfall,” Squib answered. ”After that there is a little waterfall, just 200 or 3 feet splash.”
>Karol shakes himself. you're right tigerwolf. If there is no other way, we go by cave. Besides... he grins it's not like the dark is a problem to us.
>Majuba>If I have to crawl, I will crawl. I would rather try my luck on boat.
The kobold shook his head. ”No crawling, orc friends are too too big. Either have to take fishing boat into tunnels, or drop down through the Rock Eye to get to the weedy lady. Too big to go through kobold tunnels.”
Re wading the shore, the water leads into a tunnel, and based on what Squib has told you there isn’t a way to wade in the tunnel.
Mercurion |
"Through the Rock Eye? What do you mean? A straight drop down?"
Squib nodded. "Yes, yes, through the Eye," he said gesturing up the limestone rise that you had just skirted around to get the boat. "Up there is the Rock Eye. Big hole, opens all the way to the weedy lady and moss fields. Only about a..." he said scrunching up his face again, "...a four mile drop. No problems if you have rope, or maybe wings.'
Odak the Iron Giant |
> Odak turns to the little Kobold before turning his head back to the water, he begins to stride off and sets the two humans down on the beach and nods to them slowly before stepping into the cold waters with big splashes spilling out underneath his wide iron boots. He peers down at the raft, only enough to hold a few of his smaller companions.
Garmack Scareye |
"Lets stop wasting time then, I want to see this Rock Eye for myself so that I can judge the height. If it is too high then we will simply have to risk swimming and that's that"
Greez Fhang |
Head turned at hearing about such a steep drop and only using rope. His head shook hard a few times. "No rope! Breaks when try use always!"
His attention then went back to the water was in and continues to 'play' in it. Going only out as far as would be at midsection kind of to show off the depth to his companions.
Doctor Majuba |
"Lets stop wasting time then, I want to see this Rock Eye for myself so that I can judge the height. If it is too high then we will simply have to risk swimming and that's that"
What he said ^^^
@Greez: Kobold need rope to climb you, maybe we not need rope. We never know unless we go take a peeky
Karol Heart Singer |
boot don't splat. Let's move
Karol looks at the prisoners.
Odak, you cannot just leave them here.
Odak the Iron Giant |
> Odak turns his head around to the sound of the bard's voice and looks over at him, then at the humans solemnly. He then slowly strides on back and picks up the humans off the ground and back into the water. The giant faces back at Karol with the little men under his arms.
Mercurion |
Squib led the group up the rise and through thick trees draped with choking vines. Suddenly the stopped and waved at the group to do the same. ”There it is, the Rock Eye.”
Just ahead the ground suddenly opened up where the limestone had eroded, an oblong cenote festooned with a hanging wall of vines tumbling over one edge. A shaft of sunlight illuminated the ground some 80 feet below, where a thick field of moss covered the rocks. Water tumbled through a curtain wall of rock in small falls in several places.
