Shanya's blade finds purchase in the flesh of the moonflower, and more green ichor sprays sticky and sweet over the heroes. The moonflower swipes down upon group, this time aiming to pick Sven off of the ground with its massive jaws. The warrior must hold himself steady as the smell of decaying flesh spills from the moonflowers gullet and washes over him - lucky for him, misfortune is upon the moonflower, and it misses its target. It tries again with two tentacles, but the power of Tiknesr's magic proves greater.

Both creatures slowly continue to heal... or at least until avora calls down holy flame upon them both. The fallen moonflower now shudders and lies still, while the other

Kalt gathers up his scattered weapons, speaking as he does so, "Thanks for the help getting out of that thing. They sure seemed to like grabbing hold of me."

Rango - Kalt took some damage, it dropped out of the tracker. Do you know what he took or should I go back through the thread?

RoW Combat map

Sorry, I was getting a little flustered trying to keep track of everyone's damage. You'll have to go back through the thread this time. I can do it in the future.

Written in the ground is an odd tale. One creature that went within the storehouse walked upon two legs, but with cloven feet like a goat. A second set of tracks shows an accompanying creature with pudgy, clawed, three-fingered paws walking upon four limbs - but only sometimes! In places, there are gaps in the muddy tracks a dozen feet in length. It seems the creature must tread upon the very air.

Although the tracks are confusing, what is plain is that no creatures born of Golarion could produce any of these tracks.

Listening at the door, one can hear noise from both the southern and northern rooms.

No problem at all, Rango. Kalt took a total of 41 damage from the moonflower (and Sven's crude battering to free him).

Before Sven can open the double doors, Kalt asks Lana to heal his wounds. "Never know what you're going to find in this place, best to assume the worst. Especially if I get swallowed by another giant plant monster and Sven decides to smash me free."

Feeling much better, Kalt gives Shanya a wink and a quick grin over his shoulder before joining Sven at the doors as the burly Ulfen opens them.

Before entering, Tiknesr turns to Kalt. "I appreciate your bravery, especially after that episode. I fear getting swallowed would absolutely ruin my whole day.

"If you'll allow me, I'll grant you a bit of extra protection in case there's more unpleasantness behind these doors." With Kalt's permission, Tik lays a paw on the ranger's back. Kalt feels an almost electric tingle for a brief second as a ward is placed on him.

Kalt stiffens slightly as Tiknesr reaches for him with a rat-like paw. For all that Tik has shown himself to be a useful ally, the icy Ulfen is by nature slow to warm to others, and he's unsure about allowing the rat-man to use his magic on him.

Pausing to reflect on Tik's actions so far, however, and the great help he's provided, Kalt allows his mind to make the decision rather than his own rather crotchety spirit. He relaxes, saying, "Thank you, Tik. Much appreciated. Lana is good at patching me up, but I won't say no to not getting hit - or trapped in a pod to be eaten later by a giant plant - in the first place."

Sven "sniffs" the air - and after a few moments of concentrating the smell is decay, rot, death... the smell of something alien and terrible. Whatever the creature is that stands before you, its evil is that beyond the mores and foibles of lesser creature.

The worg also faintly smells too... although if from evil or wet fur, it isn't clear.

As Kalt moves into the room, following the awkward robed man, he see a creature that also appears vaguely humanoid, yet is equally awkward and somehow simply wrong to look at. Whereas the first creature is tall, thin, and gangly, this one is grotesquely fat beneath its flowing robes. Its face is mostly obscured by thick black goggles and a turban.

It speaks, but this time its mouth doesn't move at all.

Ah, my servant returns, and not alone. What fortune! Do we have new friends, Ck'kth'kth-wee-nak? As it names the other creature, the sound is more of a gurgle than word, but somehow is crystal clear in Kalt's head.

Shanya's eyes widen in horror. "...oh my."

What. The. F!$&. A Denizen of Leng here with... sweet Desna, I don't even KNOW what to call THAT.

RoW Combat map

The fat man seems to tire of conversation. [i]Come now, nobody wishes to see the universe? Perhaps you are not very interesting after all.[/b]

He opens his mouth in disapproval - but instead of words, there is an awful, droning sound which emerges. It is the noise of a thousand uncertain doubts voiced by a thousand hesitant throats.

Shanya and Kalt are up!
Shanya
Kalt Ìsson

Kalt circles wide around the corpulent creature, drawing his blade as he moves, then strikes at it powerfully!

"We don't like you either, don't worry," he says as his sword cuts the fat man deeply.

Move action to draw sword and get behind it, standard action to attack.

Crit damage: 2d6 + 7 + 9 ⇒ (3, 6) + 7 + 9 = 25

When Kalt's blow lands, the veil falls away. In place of a grossly fat man now sits a four legged pile of flesh with no head - intead, it simply has a quivering mass of tentacles where a mouth should be.

Although the hits is solid, the flesh of the creature simply seems to warp and meld about the weapon, and the damage is far less then Kalt would imagine.

You would guess it is immune to crits
Anyone can make the above dungeoneerin check now.

As the illusion melts away, Kalt's expression changes from distaste to unmitigated disgust, and he calls out, "What is this thing?"

It just wants to give you a hug. With its tentacles. all of them

Tiknesr's eyes bulge out as the illusion falls away. "That, my dearie, is a Moon-Beast! I've never met one before but they're discussed in Haervald's Tome of Stellar Horrors. As I recall, they can read and manipulate minds. They're also hard to hurt with blunt weapons, spells, and of course cold. Also, watch out for their tentacles--they're rumored to leach away your wisdom.

"His companion must be a Denizen of Leng - evil, plane traveling creatures, resistant to cold, electricity and spells, and their claws stiffen a body permanently where they hit with their otherworldly energies."
