Is going up/downstream not an option?

I'm more worried about falling into the water than the elemental.


The game isn't on rails, you guys want to try to go around, that's fine. But I'd still be worried about the elemental. Grappling under freezing water is no fun, especially when it moves you 15 feet from the hole you fell in ;)

I'm with ya. You got me thinking about a ford - a nice, natural shallow spot where the land spreads out a bit and allows the stream to do the same. Such a place would be pretty well known, so maybe we can find one. And then fight the elemental in hip-deep freezing water. Awesome.

I totally agree, and did not mean to suggest otherwise. I just couldn't help but reflect that, in the abstract, fighting a frosty elemental in hip-deep freezing water ain't that grand. But we'll take what we can get.

Scarab could have carried a few swords and bows in addition to Bugsby, I'd think. I don't recall anyone saying explicitly that we were looting and hauling them off, though we were collecting things of value.

Maybe we brought half of them back with us? Or none, as Bugsby says, since we didn't really state we were doing so.

While loot is a compelling topic, few things are better than leveling up.

I'm going archery as my ranger combat style - it'll help the group, and it works quite well with Kalt's history as a loner, out surviving in the wilds on his own. Given that, should I take:

Precise Shot: really nice to avoid the -4 for firing into melee, but if there's melee going on, Kalt will likely be in it, not shooting arrows from afar

Point Blank Shot: also good to have this bonus to attack and damage, but if the bad guys are 30' away, Kalt will likely move into melee

Rapid Shot: extra attack, but only when making full attack. It could be that when we're in ranged combat, I'll be making full attacks - since I'll generally only be in ranged combat when I can't get into melee.

Any thoughts on this are appreciated.

Kalt - I like Rapid Shot for the reason you described. Once melee starts your into it, and getting off a few shots before that happens makes sense to me.

Was it ever specified if I could take a level in an Archetype of a class I already possess? Meaning take a level of Sorcerer (Seeker)?

The example was given that I can take levels of other classes archetypes, but just clarifying I can do this (or not) for a class I already have.

I'd suggest Rapid Shot. In a situation where Kalt is arching, it's unlikely there's anything in his way where Precise Shot would be necessary.

Swords and bows could easily have been packed, I’ll give it to ya this time :D You gained 5 short bows and 8 short swords. There were more swords, but they were ruined in the “lockpicking”

Regarding feat choice, that's really your call. I've never built an effective switch hitting character because if I take lots fo ranged feats, I want to stay at range, and if I take lots of melee feats, I want to stay in melee. With your Dex being lower than most archer characters, I'd normally say avoid the rapid shot, because you'll only be at +2/+2 for shots, but all other options lead you into melee combat and 1 shot at +4 isn't usually as good as 2 shots at +2

I was looking into that. Since you are a Sorcerer already, the only way you could gain an Archetype after the fact would be if it did not affect skells/feats you already have. Since Seeker changes your level 1 build, you cannot go into Seeker at level 2.

It's actually simple. I've used them in PFS quite a bit.

In this case it would cose Bugsby 20 gold for 'materials' and five days of training montage.


Ahh, that would explain it, I don't have UC, lol.

If Bugsby wants to go Seeker, he can do that above, AFTER he starts feeling better.

Also, would it not cost 50 GP? 10* level (1)* # of archetype skills to relearn (1)*5?

Hmm, that's tough. 5 days to retrain, or become a level 1 thief in a day. :)

If it really takes 5 days in game I don't know that I'd want to do it, I (and Bugsby) get the feeling like waiting around could be bad for the area. There seems to be a sense of urgency with the goings on.


Your call, there are pro's and con's to every choice in this AP :D

EDIT: Also, if people are going to be commissioning Masterwork items and multiple potions, then you could have that time available to you anyway.

In case you don't have it on your list, Kalt also picked up a MW chain shirt from the chest in the snow with the damn flying spiked log trap.

So he's well ahead of the rest of the group in terms of loot, and will end up in the negatives in terms of gold coming to him. In spite of that, if there's 2.2 gp (or even 4.4, for some extras) kicking around to buy him some cold iron arrows and sling bullets, we probably won't regret it.
