Male Human Bard 4

Honestly had no idea where to go. We can just retcon it to be a hunter instead of blacksmith.

The inner voice within your ear

Speaking of hunters, there are several established NPC hunters, poachers, and guides who might help us in our mission to find the killer.

Male Human Bard 4

which would probably help since i don't think any of us have any skills points in survival...

Some real life examples couldn't hurt either.

Or we could just steal one.

Might have better luck with one of the hunters when it comes to bow shopping.

Nah, Lions are over done ;)

Possible symbols that come to mind are a stag (Obviously they're big in the area though you could argue with the Stag Lord dead it might not fit that well but then again, to the victors go the spoils), a gryphon (Because dragons are also over done ;), or a tiger (not a common one but might fit in better with our nature). A weapon might also fit, but that's more an IC thing for Adular.

I also like Red as one of our colors. There's a lot of symbolism in Heraldry, and while I'm just a layman, I'd like to take advantage of it :)

Male Human Bard 4

Well if you guys like my "We will not fall" words to show our stubbornness, perhaps a bull as our sigil animal? Bulls always seemed stubborn to me... But i know they also symbolize strength, justice, and a bunch of other good stuff.

edit: woo! threw this together in paint. No idea about what colors to use. I like the bull as our sigil animal. The sword is to show our loyalty to Gorum as he was one of our big supporters and still is (he is the only god with a temple at the moment...)

Male Elf Slayer 4

Okay, that's actually pretty good for a visual, Rory. I can see that looking good on our soldiers tabards

Male Human Bard 4

Wooo! I'm helping!

Male Elf Slayer 4

So black bull head overlaid on a silver sword on a red field.

Riva, does that work for you?

Male Human Bard 4

Silver great sword if possible. What exactly does the red symbolize? The bull our stubbornness as well as our just ruling, the great sword symbolizes our faith and loyalty to the gods, but what does the field of red symbolize?

Male Elf Slayer 4

Well, all three colors would potentially have meaning but here's a brief summary from the internet

Quote:

Silver / White – Argent: Signifies truth, sincerity, peace, innocence and purity.
Gold – Or: Signifies wisdom, generosity, glory, constancy and faith.
Black – Sable: Signifies wisdom, grief, constancy and prudence.
Green – Vert: Signifies abundance, joy, hope and loyalty in love.
Blue – Azure: Signifies loyalty, chastity, truth, strength and faith.
Red – Gules: Signifies magnanimity, military strength, warrior and martyr.
Purple – Purpure: Signifies temperance, regal, justice, royal majesty, and sovereignty.
Maroon / Blood Red – Sanguine / Murray: Signifies Fortitude or victorious.
Orange – Tenne / Tawny: Signifies ambition.

Of course, Brevoy related heraldry could have other meanings, but for simplicity's sake I'd say that's a good thing to go on.

Male Human Bard 4

Maybe gold instead of red going by those meanings... I know its kinda done to death but it just seems more of what we're trying to build our kingdom to be. Red's good too, i just don't know if it should be the background color... perhaps a red bull instead of a black bull? Or maybe the sword should be red?

Male Elf Slayer 4

Well, the rules of heraldry are big on no metals on metals (No white/silver on Yellow/Gold for example). Again, the gaming world might be much more lax but still. I also think the red would just look better but others might disagree

Male Human Bard 4

Perhaps a gold sword then? its mainly that the meanings behind silver and red are kind of contradictory...

The inner voice within your ear

Here's what I've managed to piece together based on Rory's initial concept sketch.

Let me know what you think.

The black bull indicates generosity, prideful resistance, stubbornness and strength. The red and orange pale field represents ambition surrounded by victory. The upturned white sword symbolizes power and freedom, tempered by wisdom.

I particularly like how the bull's red eyes stand out against the orange backdrop and how the white lines of its snout make the sword's pommel appear barbed--both adding a subtle sinister undertone to the coat of arms as a whole.

Also, here's a fun website explaining many of the symbols used in heraldry.

Male Human Bard 4

Nice. What would we do without you, Ravingdork.

The inner voice within your ear

Gah. I made it even more detailed and awesome, but it doesn't want to sync for some reason.

*Kicks OneDrive*

Why! Do! Images! Sync! Only! Once! Per! Day!?

Male Human Bard 4

Well then i can't wait to see it tomorrow.

The inner voice within your ear

I think I got it up now. Just refresh it.

It seems to be keyed to the computer turning on or coming out of hibernate/sleep mode. A restart seems to have kicked it into gear.

EDIT: Recreated it in a better image format and deleted the old file. NEW LINK.

Male Elf Slayer 4

Sorry, just got back. THAT... is extremely badass! Rory, props for some creative thinking, and Ravingdork, that is amazing!

That's a symbol your high priest would get behind fully.

Male Human Bard 4

plus we can incorperate the bull into our arms and armor if we want. Hell, if you want, you can flavor the pommel of your great sword into a bull and hell, our knights can have their helmets with bull horns. I watch too much game of thrones (NO SUCH THING!)

Nice symbol.

Male Elf Slayer 4

Completely OOC here, but I'm going to see if this helps break the curse or so to speak

Diplomacy:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Diplomacy:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Diplomacy:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Diplomacy:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Diplomacy:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

We'll see if I get half so lucky in gameplay

Male Human Bard 4

HA! you roll good here and bad in the gameplay. that's awesome.

Hey DM, now that your on do you think Adular, Ravingdork, and I can create our apprentices using the NPC building rules?

Seems fair.

Male Human Bard 4

Wooo! I'll have Selene done later today possibly... maybe tomorrow cause I have an exam tomorrow that I need to study for. so excited to be working on the last paragraph for this research paper. Been working on it all morning.

The inner voice within your ear

I can do sheets for them too if you like. Just please keep the stats organized and easy to read so I can transfer data more easily. Also, find a nice portrait if you can.

Do you guys think we should start thinking about replacing Eldric? He has not shown up for a long time.

The inner voice within your ear

Yeah, that may be a good idea at this point, especially if this adventure path is as cutthroat as was indicated.

And if he comes back and becomes an active participant later, then maybe the module will go from cutthroat, to merely challenging.

Male Elf Slayer 4

Well, you could keep him as an NPC on the council for now but yeah. We are definitely under staffed right now.

Male Human Bard 4

I'm gonna side with the others. I feel we really need to have a forth player with us. Like adular said, we can keep Eldric as an NPC and if he should come back we can move to a five player party maybe, but I do feel we need to replace him.

The inner voice within your ear

Isn't he a member of the Order of the Cockatrice? If so, it wouldn't be out of character for him to revel in his new political power and not much care for actually helping the citizens of the town (at least not more than is necessary to further his own reputation).

He may well be quite at home in the background, living it up. At least until his player returns.

Male Human Bard 4

huh, never knew what order he was doing. I just remember him talking about doing Order of the Lion and just assumed it was that.

Male Human Bard 4

Just to give you guys the heads up now, I'll do it again when it gets closer, but next weekend I won't be on as much. Definitely May 2nd and 4th, dunno about the 3rd. Why? Well I'm graduating from college and will be celebrating with my family.

The inner voice within your ear

Congrats!

Male Human Bard 4

Thanks. Semester's not done yet. Still have one more final (take home thank god) and a paper to write. So that might eat up some of my weekend. Really can't wait to walk next Friday.

The inner voice within your ear

I've updated my character sheet to include stats for Tarka Firefang.

Barbarian 7 AC:19, HP:66/66 (46/78), Fire Resist 2, DR 3/-, Reach

HEllo. I'll have a proper introduction and finish fixing this guy tomorrow afternoon. Just popping in to dot and go to bed.

Male Human Bard 4

Let me be the first to welcome you to our little kingdom then.

The inner voice within your ear

Good morning, MC!

I am the infamous Ravingdork, player to the ever beautiful and cold mistress of coin and master of Caerulus' grand library, Riva Sarjenka.

This is the first I've heard of you joining our humble troup. I welcome you! I have seen your character and I find him quite worthy! (Not that, that matters one lick.)

I look forward to slaying monsters and raising kingdoms alongside you, and seeing your true worth.

I have converted everyone's character sheets into much more formal stat blocks similar to what you would find in the NPC Codexes. If you would be so kind as to send me an awesome character portrait of your character, I would be happy to do the same for you.

Be sure to check out the Campaign Info page for some essential information.

For your convenience, I have posted several important links below as well (many of which can be found on the Campaign Info page linked above).

He volunteered to lead the small group of soldiers to help guard Oleg’s Trading Post after his own depression and shame grew too much to handle. Kesten hopes to either make a name for himself as the defender of a remote fort, or to find an honorable death among the bandits and other dangers in the region.

I think that's it for the most part. Please be sure to bookmark many of the informational links, as they are updated regularly with new and current information.

Male Human Bard 4

Woah, where'd those other two standards come from? I like them.

The inner voice within your ear

I was just having some fun.

Is anyone else seeing black backgrounds OUTSIDE the coat of arms wooden border? It's supposed to be transparent. Not sure why it's doing that.

Male Human Bard 4

Well, like i said, i like the. Hrm... i keep looking at game of thrones for inspiration on how stuff should look and keep thinking about the circlet/crown of persuasion i'm gonna get eventually and how to flavor bull horns into its appearance.

It's not difficult for knights and soldiers and stuff, just stick horns on the helmet. Either as elegant as Gendry's helmet or as simple as Skyrim's iron helmet. But a crown... a crown is different.

The inner voice within your ear

That's one of the reasons why I like Riva's portrait. I've never seen horns look so beautiful.

Male Elf Slayer 4

Apologies for my slow posting today. This cold is better, but it's still sapping all the energy out of me

Male Human Bard 4

feel better, man.

The inner voice within your ear

Yes, don't get sick and die on us. We can't afford to lose another player.

;)

Sorry it might take me a awhile to figure out how to insert you into the game. Coming as reinforcements in the middle of a fight is always a good one.

The inner voice within your ear

I like that idea!

Wait...are we about to have a fight?

Male Human Bard 4

I hope not... I haven't had time to learn cure light wounds...

Erm, may want to wait for me to finish my sheet first.
