Whoops, sorry, I posted slightly out of turn.

Calin still gets an attack against the villain. Sorry about that, man! That might change what you want to do Merrick, but if so, you can still use those rolls.

So after Calin who is up (both turn wise and enemy wise... kinda have lost count...


Here is what happened;

You posted your action early to keep stuff going (you attacked a Goblin, killing it).

Goblins went.

AoO's went off.

Shae and Rast took their actions.

I took the Goblins actions that were dependent on them surviving AoO's.

Bad Guy took his action.

Merrick took his.

I just accidentally skipped Calin. Next up will be Eloisa, and DK, then Goblins again, then Asa Calin Shae Rast.

Once Merrick's shots go off, you will have killed five Goblins.

Next up, we have only three Goblins left, I miscounted. Two of them will attack Calin, since they're already in there, and one will attack Asa, since he's still standing next to her.

He responded to Asa's taunting about his prowess. He went with the creatures blow and responded in kind swinging the flail low across his body. He was trying to be careful and keep himself well behind his shield so much so his swing came no where near the creature. He cringed already, he probably looked a fool. No more talking just fighting.

Seeing the Desna Knight take down one of the remaining Goblins, Merrick will cease his rapid firing and instead shoot only one arrow at the remaining Goblin.

He doesn't even really bother looking at the Goblin; he just sort of casually shoots it.

That attacks should go off before yours, Eloisa, so feel free to save that Force Missile ability!

Looking around, Merrick is more grim than any have ever seen him, and he speaks.

"Shae, can you please scout a bit? They came from elsewhere within the complex and we must make sure we are safe. I agree that we should stabilize him and attempt to interrogate him. Before we do that, we should search him and remove anything that might be dangerous. We should also bind him. Eloisa, or Asa, can you see if there's anything magical about him? And does anyone have any magic prepared that might loosen his tongue?"

At that, Merrick will begin to search the fallen foe for anything of note.

Asa takes the journal from Merrick, and nods to Rast. "I need better light for this, I will be in the adjoining room."

So saying she steps through to the smashed up room with the goblin table markings. "Now, time to see if you are who I think you might be..."

Flipping open the cover, Asa begins to carefully examine the writing, as well as scan the contents for anything useful.

Taking a 10 on Linguistics for a total of 19 to see if it is the same author of the spellbook.

Merrick looked around, at the HUGE FURNACES, roaring with fire, presumably filling the room with heat and light, then looks back at Asa.

"You know, Asa, I don't begrudge you your secrets. But if you're going to lie right to my face, can you at least assume I'm not a doddering simpleton and make it believable?"

After glancing at the relevant pages, Merrick will let the journal go and allow Asa to take it.

Asa looks the man in the eyes. A trace of anger can be seen in them, as well as a little fear.

"Fine. I want to examine this some place not being lit by the funeral pyres made from limbs stripped from hapless townsfolk and overshadowed by a glass throne made to entomb a former noble while still alive. That specific enough for you about the light quality, or would you like me to add further details concerning the smell of burning flesh, barely masking the smell of blood and corpses?"

Taking the book with a little more force than necessary, Asa walks off angrily muttering something to the effect of paladins always being in people's business.

Shae, as you scout, you see that the door they came through concealed stairs to a lower level. Nothing seems to be moving down there, but you can see that it's large enough that it's likely a good idea to group up before exploring, unless you want to try to scout the whole level by yourself.

Asa's face turns sour as she adds, "Meaning we have at least one psychopath still at large... perhaps more if these folks are part of some coven or band."

Asa proceeds to skim through the journal, attempting to determine its author's identity, his or her motives - "After all, might have been a keepsake and not written by that man," - and any significant passages that might shed more light on their current circumstances.

Did Asa learn anything significant from the journal that she could use to ask questions of the bound man? Granted she didn't have time to read every page, but she would have been skimming for important details, and probably read a bit more attentively the last entries of the book... assuming of course that she knows the language it was recorded in.

Sorry, I didn't notice.

"Doesn't sound like this woman is a demon yet... sounds more like she is trying to become one, and that the townsfolk of Sandpoint are to be the offertory fuel for that fire. What worries me more is this part here." Asa points to the lines about there being tunnels under the Glassworks that lead to the base that these goblins had been inhabiting.

"Something tells me that we might just want to have the guards follow us this time, in case we fail to stop them. I would have thought that Selaros would be back with the sheriff by now."

As they return to the furnace room Asa gives everyone a quick synopsis of the journal's contents. "We need to find out who this woman is and where she is hiding. If we don't find Ameiko and her friend here I would wager that she is being held there, though for what evil purpose I dare not guess."

Think we got most of the place, but there might have been a door back there that we didn't open.

"The two might be in the same place, and it is likely that the dark place Shae found leads to it."

Asa turns to their bound captive. Seeing that he is mended, but not yet fully awake she slaps him twice in his face.

"Wake up. The time for sleep has passed, the time for answers has arrived."

Calin, with the threat of immenant goblin violence gone instead found himself staring up in horror at the old man encased in glass. Even for a jerk of a man, it was not a way anyone should find death.The sound of Asa slapping the man made his head jerk in that direction, the disaproaval clear in his features.

"I'll go down and look for the others, I dont think their will be a lot of goblins there, and if there are well.."

He looked at the remains of the goblins that had followed the man to assault them. He turned to go, if they were going to torture that man he didnt want to see it, nor did he want to have to explain to the sheriff about it either...

Shaedeen takes it upon herself to...uh, borrow...one of whatever the glassworks employees use to light the place. A moment later, she's quietly moved to Calin's side and stands smiling up at the half-elf.

"Let the others interrogate Goblin-Boy if they want--we'll rescue Ameiko. She owns an inn...maybe she'll pay us a reward."

"Heeeeey.... Now that her father's ass is glass, Ameiko or her mystery brother may be the head of the Kaijitsu family...and all its holdings! Let's stop standing around and rescue her!"

Asa turns and looks at Calin. "No. If this journal is to be believed there is a strong chance that you will be running into what is left of the goblin force, a hobgoblin, and whatever Lamashtu worshiping woman that leads them all." Asa lets out a sigh of frustration. "You and I have had our differences, and I admire your bravery, but that would be needless suicide by stubbornness. We all go together, after we get what we can from this wretch." She turns back to the captive as she adds, "Besides, how can I hold you accountable for whatever harm has befallen them if you get yourself killed?"

Shaedeen turns her eyes briefly toward Asa as she gives her orders. Still trying to figure out who leads this ragtag party of heroes, Shae waits until Asa's attention has returned to the prisoner before she gently nudges Calin, smiling impishly as her mischievous eyes dart back and forth between the imperious dhampir and the stairs leading below.

Now we'll see who wears the pants in this party!

He frowned at Shaedeen's well rather tasteless jest about the man in the glass. He let his scowl take her in just a moment longer when Asa spoke.

"I don't care to stand here and watch you torture even one like him. If they are below being held by whatever it is you fear I will be held accountable by finding them before whatever forces that reside below realize their human and goblin allies are not returning. The longer we wait to even glare at this refuse of a man is a moment that Ameiko or Augustianna don't have. I would hold myself twice as accountible if that happened, so I am going."

He growled back once more spinning torwards Shaedeen.

"Where did you turn back from your scouting?"

He asked her more forcefully than he meant to.

"At the top of the stairs, because I didn't have a light source," Shae answers quietly. Then she holds up her 'borrowed' torch/lantern and quirks one eyebrow.

Asa shoots a reproachful glare back at Calin. "I don't have the strength to waste to stop you. If you want to insist on charging into there and getting yourselves killed, fine. Try to take some of them with you so that the rest of us stand a better chance of avenging you."

"Oh," she adds, turning to Shae, "do keep in mind that most of the natives to caves like these will see you and your torch long before you see them by its light. And keep your eyes open. We haven't run into traps up here, likely because they haven't had the time to set them up, but you can bet that new pack that you were showing off that they will have some as you get closer to their lair."
