Imagining this like conversation with a random fellow patron at a pub or fellow follower of the Accidental God. Buchart being young and a bit nieve.
Oh, wow! They're real? I always thought them a subject if faery tales! Huh! I've not looked into mixing the culinary arts with the arcane ones. Do you know if there's a beneficial magic cookie?
Buchart |
Have you figured out the crafting schedule? Are we trying to craft too many things for Sekkim to get done? If so, I need to know which items I can get made so I can make orders for the things we can't make ourselves and put the ones we can on hold. I'm thinking about a mithral agile breastplate. If things can't get done then it might have it enhanced as well.
Buchart |
Sekkim, how would you like to be compensated for you time? Brandy or ale? Ah, why not both!? What wands do we need? Haste? Cure moderate wounds?
Please remove from my account whatever amount needed to buy brandy and ale for the boat ride to Magnimar, while it's two for one anyway. Craft all day, drink all night! I also want to buy a really nice flagon in Turtleback Ferry. The boots of striding and springing are 5500 base price, 2750 cost. The bracers are 4k price, 2k cost. Boots of speed are 12k price, 6k cost. I think we are looking for a wand of haste @5625 gp cost and 12 days to make. I agreed to split the cost with anyone wanting to pitch in. If no takers I'll need to forgo making it for now. Cure mod costs 2250 and takes 5 days to make.
GM Pablo |
Sekkimm would rather make a staff than the boots since it is rechargeable (you can revisit the boots later)
Headband of Inspired Wisdom 2000gp 4 days - Rolande
Boots of Striding and Springing 2750gp 6 days - Buchart
Bracers of Falcon’s Aim X2 2000gp each 8 days - Buchart & Rolande
Bag of holding 1200gp 3 days - Party
Jingasa of the Fortunate Soldier 2500gp 5 days - Anaba
Anaba -2500gp
Buchart - 4750gp
Rolande - 4000gp
Party Items - 9075gp (1512gp each) Bag of Holding, Wand of Haste (50 charges), Wand Cure Moderate Wounds
Looking over the sheets many people are now medium encumbrance ("a character's load affects his maximum Dexterity bonus to AC, carries a check penalty (which works like an armor check penalty), reduces the character's speed, and affects how fast the character can run") a handy haversack would be good
Craft time:
Sekkimm 26 days
Buchart 17
Is that OK with everyone?
Buchart |
I'm fine with it. Did Rolande and Anaba pass on the boots of speed? Pablo, what was that item you told me about the other day? Was it in the emails? Muleback cords, shoulder slot, 500gp cost, 1 day to make, can carry loads as if your strength was +8, but only for lifting/carrying! I'd like a set of those eventually. For now, Buchart would like to purchase a duffel bag to hold many of his heavier/less used items in and drop that bag as a free action at the beginning of melee/action.
Buchart |
The bag of holding can be used for your duffel bag -not assigned to a particular PC. Yes muleback cords are good for extra weight. Handy Haversack is better. 1k to craft and is easier to get your gear out.

Someone else might want to carry the bag, but can if no other takers on that one. Is anyone else experiencing an encumbrance issue? We had discussed a handy bandolier at one time akin to Rolande's but actually a bandolier for potions and wands to facilitate accessing potions and wands, i.e. move action becomes a swift action. Is this possible? I'm still working on what to do with the gold I have left. Thinking of trading in battleaxe for a greatsword.
Buchart |
Sekkim, I can forgo the bracers for now. Will that give you enough time to craft Rolande's boots?
Since we're making the wand (fm party) and the boots of speed I'll have to reallocate my gold more strategically. Nix the bracers and put in an order in Magnimar for my +1 mithral agile breastplate @5400gp-1050 trade for +1 mith chain= 4350gp. I'll also have my bow enhanced to +1/+4 @ 2000gp. I'll have the pockets of a pauper after copying spells and buying the scroll, but...OY! I'll have no money to put in on the property in Absalom.

Added Boots of Speed and removed Buchart's bracers:

I will leave my purchases as is. This will free Sekkim up for more research time with the spellcasters. Should the others do some snooping into the caves we have a map for? Perhaps we can uncover some minion of the cult before the boat takes Cela and Fernleaf to Absalom.
I have another idea for a wand that can save us a bundle in the short run, a wand of magic weapon, greater. 9000gp (and this will be Buchart's limit), 24 days though. However, it costs 8000gp per weapon to enhance +2 and 16,000gp per to enhance +1 to +3. One charge can make one weapon or 50 projectiles +2. The enhancement stacks with existing up to +5. It will have to wait though.

OK then here is the list updated...

I'm thinking that the muleback cords might have a real use beyond carrying equipment. Remove the enhancement for my armor and I'll take a set of Muleback cords instead. Why might you ask? If things go bad in combat and someone drops, Buchart, if wearing the straps, can swoop in and carry them out of combat at full movement. With mobility, opponents will be at -4 to hit on an AoO. As a brawler, Buchart is always considered armed. He can kick if his hands are full. This will only add one day to crafting schedule if there's time.

I'm seeing us cruising down the lovely Skull River and, though it's cold, taking in the sites (we do have a wand of endure elements). Eggs and bacon for breakfast. A little ale, bread and cheese for lunch. Fish and potatoes for supper. So, what are we crafting on the trip? Or, are we crafting during the journey? I suggest we do to have more time for research in Magnimar.
