Something is afoot in Varisia. There have been a series of odd murders in a small town on the west coast called Sand Point and more recently the capital Magnimar, where even the lord-mayor was a target. A cult of serial murderers called the Skinsaw Men was uncovered and stopped. We have also received reports of more activity along the border.

I would like you to go see the lord-mayor of Magnimar. Assure him the Pathfinder society will do what we can to help him. Investigate these goings on and see if there is a common thread to all this unrest. We have a lot of interests in Varisia and would like to maintain the good graces of the government. I doubt the lord mayor will have you sitting around for long. It is a big place and inevitably something will need attention.

So how does that sound? A mission without a precise goal and with no guarantee of coin. Ha! Are you up for it?

Oh I love a good discount! As you can tell from the barrels. You say it burned down? What happened? Where did everybody go? I would definitely want to get me one of those. Probably pay a little finders fee to get with the artist who did yours. Where is this place? Any idea how to find the folks who can do such cool ink?

Hard to say no to that. she died in the fire though when the barge sank several weeks ago. If ya want to see it, it's over there." He points to a spot off the docks a few blocks away where the pier meets the lake.

We will have Cela transform into a shark and swim down and thoroughly scope out the situation, then report back. Maybe she can pick up lunch while she is down there...

Cela transforms into a shark and takes a swim. She finds the barge in 60' of water heavily fire damaged. There are pleanty of fish who made a home there as well as a couple other sharks. If there were any crispy bodies the local wildlife ate them long ago. She finds nothing else of interest after 30 min of poking around the wreckage and returns.

You seem to have hit a dead end on this for now. You verify the cooper's story and see several other people in town with similar tattoos. They all seem like normal villagers.

Head to Fort Rannick or somewhere else.
You can leave on foot or buy horses (75gp each + 32gp saddle bit and bridle =107gp).


A horse is a horse of course....

Well, let's find the stockyard or stables and hit the road! Last chance to shop before we enter the wilds!


You find six good horses saddles and barding. The stable master gives you easy directions to Fort Rannick. "The simplest route is to follow an old road leading up along the banks of the Skull River. The road crosses an old wooden bridge to the western shore about three miles north of Turtleback Ferry, and from there heads all the way up to on old impressive Thassilonian ruin known as Skull’s Crossing, an immense stone dam that holds back the waters of the Storval Deep. A side road branches off about three miles before the dam, and a wooden sign points up this trail to Fort Rannick.

After checking your provisions you leave Turtleback Ferry and make your way north to Fort Rannick. After you cross over the old wooden bridge you hear a muffled murmur of pain in the woods nearby, as if a large animal
were wounded.

You soon hear barking dogs approaching from deeper in the woods, accompanied by a low voice singing an off-key song "He lurked around 'cause he knew where I lived

As you get closer. The barking of the dogs soon grows excited, and you hear the sound of combat between dogs, bear, and something else.

Alright. Scratch the Enlarge and the BS on both. Which way is downwind? Please place me there since I cast a spell and moved, then we'll be square, eh? Also, now +5 on Initiative and +6 on Perception! Also need to get out the rust from all the inactivity of late!

I think you should enlarge and Bull Strength on Anaba Buchart. Send her left into the wind and flank the Ogerkin. Then you can go right downwind around the way. Sekkim can back me up up the middle either providing a grease or something to keep the dogs off of me while I confront the Ogerkin head on with some gunfire. Hopefully distracting him from you and Anaba and lower the boom on him.


FYI - two rounds to buff + 2 rounds to move into position means she won't attack for 5 rounds.

Buchart, since it's JUST an ogrekin (lol), I don't think I need Bull's Strength or Enlarge. We should save those for some other foe I am sure we will encounter. I am going to double move up to where the action is and prepare for battle.

When we get close enough can Sekkim dismiss the orb?


On his turn he can as his standard action I believe, but they are all taking damage (non-lethal while they are trapped inside). On their round they will get a save and if they make it be ejected to an adjacent square - Lookout for flying dogs and Ogerkin! Move up if you want.


I want to be ranged for my attack, so as long as I am 30' then the shots I rolled for that action will go off.
