Tarinhilliberanavius |
Tarinhil starts activating the wand, draining charges until his little friend starts to move again.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Phooka the Goblin Cat |
After the third charge there is a sharp intake of breath and he opens his cat eyes, he shifts to his natural form.
Thank you...I...thank you is all.
Unalaq |
Once Phooka and Tarin rejoin everyone, Unalaq interjects "Close call Tarin? Better get this one to Val's friend and get to the clock tower." Unalaq will help with the prisoners then ask "We going to rest before we storm the tower?"
Darin the Cheerful |
Is everyone OK with taking the elf to the Pathfinder and hitting the clock tower?
Tarinhilliberanavius |
Tarinhil says, "I'd prefer a day to have more extracts -- but at the very least, give me an hour to mix up a new mutagen."
Fernus Stonecall |
Fernus nods at Unalaq's statement.
"Aye, I think I'm ready. Though I assume it's going to be tough, I think I can conquer my nerves."
Valeria Vanessa Valdemar |
"If we are going to storm the castle, we should be as prepared as possible," her voice was quiet, not her normal self.
Unalaq |
Unless someone has a reason we should skip a rest, let's go to the Pathfinder. Rest there or at an inn, then go to the clock tower. We used a lot of resources in the fight at the mill. I will tap everyone with a charge from my wand of protection from evil before we enter the clock tower. It will only last 1 minute (10 rounds), so first one tapped will only get 5 rounds out of it, but that's something.
Valeria Vanessa Valdemar |
Speaking frankly with the group, "I am not liking the idea of being blackmailed, however, it is a barter situation...they are offering something we need and we have something they want in payment. Perhaps it's a fair trade?"
Valeria Vanessa Valdemar |
She would not have the conversation where the pathfinders could hear and respond
Darin the Cheerful |
There's nothing wrong with getting paid for a service Valeria. Frankly I'd be a little hesitant about holding a priest of Norborger myself if I were them. Damn cults always have someone on the outside looking out for them - usually nobles looking for an illicit "thrill" because they're too lazy to work and too jaded to just drink themselves to death.
Darin will spit on the streets at the thought of such nobles.
But it would be better if people were more civic-minded I admit.
Darin will take a second to peek at his guiding vellum to see what kind of spells he should request from Cayden Cailean.
But slaughtering cultists and banishing demons is thirsty work. Does anyone here know where I could get a good cup of black tea?
Tarinhilliberanavius |
Tarinhil shrugs, "The other choice is for us to sit on him and keep him unconscious until tomorrow. No barter needed and we'll know exactly where he's at."
Tarinhilliberanavius |
Tarinhil says, a little skeptically, "As long as we're willing to pay the price and trust them, sure. "
I've half a mind to blast him as he "tried to escape"... He's the one that chose to Norgober, after all. Would solve the problem, and I never promised not to kill him...
He sighs, feeling the weight of his conscience for that kind of thinking, Sometimes, I think it'd be better to come up with a cure for conscience than the Bleaching... It'd make life easier, in any case..
He says, " I think I'd feel more comfortable not losing sight of him while we prepare for the assault, and hand him over on the way. Less chance for something to go wrong.... But that's just one vote."
Unalaq |
"I agree with handing him over. The sihedron medallions, I'm not so sure..."
I've lost track of the deal with the medallions. Do we have one or more of them already or are they anticipating that we'll find one? If we do have one, what are the results of Unalaq detecting evil on it. He's not likely to turn an evil item over instead of destroying it. But might negotiate for something else the Pathfinders might wish.
Unalaq |
...we could always try exchanging something else, but if that is what is of most interest, we can exchange the medallion."
As long as they don't detect as evil, Unalaq has no issue with the trade.
Fernus Stonecall |
Fernus looks on from scribbling pages in a fast pace as the others mention the sihedron medallion.
"Well uhm... I've got one of those medallions... I've been having it as a keepsake from our adventures and a reminder as to all the strange things we have encountered, especially these strange signs from tales long ago."
He removes the sihedron from his neck and holds it up.
"I'd give this up if it means we can go further on this quest." He says a little disappointed and resentful.
Tarinhilliberanavius |
Tarinhil pauses, then shakes his head, "It's yours, Fernus, so it's really your decision... As I said, we can just keep him ourselves while we rest and avoid paying the price, dropping him at the magistrate's as we head to the tower."
Darin the Cheerful |
Darin will smile at the halfling.
It's hard to let go of our possessions, I know, but sometimes we have to lose something precious to do the right thing. Believe me I know all to well.
He'll nod at Tarinhil.
Nonetheless, Tarenhilliberanavius is right. Only you can makes this decision.
Valeria Vanessa Valdemar |
"Perhaps, since they are Pathfinders, we can simply let them research it for a while. Or trade it for something similar but less...rare. It has enchantments on it, right?" Her voice is soft as she looks at Fernus.
Fernus Stonecall |
"I don't think so, I can check for it now."
Fernus casts Detect Magic on the sihedron again to check it for any enchantment.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (17) + 14 = 31
Tarinhilliberanavius |
Tarinhil stops testing his teeth with his tongue, Should I be getting worried that my normal teeth are starting to feel odd and not the mutated ones?, and repeats the same point again, "We promised to deliver the man to a magistrate. I think we may have even said alive, though I keep thinking we regret that particular addition. Either way, we didn't say conscious, or that we wouldn't make him take a nap in the interim.... and I'm sure that we could keep the bad man down for a few hours. Fernus keeps his amulet, we still have the advantage of surprise, and it just means we need to set watches -- like we do pretty much every night away from Ameiko's -- with the exception that we need to smack the prisonner every shift, just to be sure he keeps sleeping."
Darin the Cheerful |
Darin scowls at the gnome.
Let me get this straight. You want us to beat a prisoner into unconsciousness, then keep bludgeoning him every few hours to keep him from waking up?
Darin will mutter something inaudible under his breath as well.
Psychopaths. That's who you've gotten me mixed up with, Cayden, and we're going to have a long talk about this.
Tarinhilliberanavius |
Tarinhil looks at the slightly puffy cleric, meeting his eyes evenly, "Aye, that's exactly what I'm suggesting, knowing full well we can use magic to prevent any permanent harm... and we would do our best to avoid causing any undue pain...."
His voice turns cold as he adds, "...and that it would be a far, far kinder fate that we'd recieve if the tables were turned... Because while you say prisonner, I say evil cultist and follower of the Lord of Murder...."
He shrugs, his tone weary, "Or we could just keep him bound, blindfolded and gagged, if that'd be a better fit for your sensibilities."
Bear aka Orlog |
I don't like the smell of the man...and I am willing to kill em'. But the new guy has it right, if we torture him...well then we are no better than im.
Tarin, don't let em' get to you my friend!
Unalaq |
"If you don't want to pay the Pathfinder's price, turn him over to the local law authorities. There is a good chance our foes already know we're coming."
Darin the Cheerful |
Puffy? Also, a little intimidated that Fernus can't tell what the enchantments are with a 31 - doesn't that mean CL over 16?
Murdering murderers isn't justice, it's just murder. Besides, we gave our word and I for one intend to fulfill my promises. If the Pathfinders can't hold him without the medallion and we can't provide one, we'll just have to take him to the sheriff - or whatever they have here - and put them in the hoosegow.
Tarinhilliberanavius |
Tarinhil nods at Bear, his voice cheerful, "I quite agree. Which is why I said nothing about torture. Restraint or unconsciousness was all. Heck, had I known this was coming, I'd have mixed up a draught to put him out for a night."
He turns to the newcomer and says, "And now I'm planning on murdering people? After torturing them, of course? Maybe I'll burn him and offer the soul to an archdevil next?"
He throws up his hands, "I was just showing we had choices for Desna's sake -- and not ones that involved inflicting pain or death or whatever other evils this one seems to think I'm suggesting, as if that unholy symbol were mine all of a sudden. I'm rather certain that the lot of us can restrain one man, unless they've done away with all the ropes and blindfolds -- or saps and blackjacks -- in the world and nobody told me? Either way, it's Fernus' amulet and I'm not forcing him to give it up -- especially not for the great gift of restraining an evil cultist."
Darin the Cheerful |
You may not have mentioned killing him, but Bear did and I was responding to him.
He sighs.
But that's besides the point - we have to do something with the guy and if we're not willing to pay the Pathfinders price we need to hand him over to the law so we can get to the clock tower before this woman escapes.
Unalaq |
"I think we're decided. Since Fernus clearly wants to keep the medallion, we will take him to the authorities. Let's go."
Darin the Cheerful |
I need to rest for spells?
Valeria Vanessa Valdemar |
I think the consensus was that we needed to rest.
Darin the Cheerful |
Well if those are our choices, I also vote for the inn.
Tarinhilliberanavius |
Tarinhil shrugs, "We'll stand out more at a nice inn and be easier to find.... Especially now that anyone who can bribe a guard knows."
Unalaq |
"There are enough of us to set a watch. I fear that a large group of out-of-towners like ourselves will probably raise as much suspicion at a rat hole."
Valeria Vanessa Valdemar |
"We could go to the Foxglove townhouse..."
Darin the Cheerful |
Do my guiding vellums show any particular spells to memorize for tomorrow?
The Foxglove townhouse?
Unalaq |
"It is the first location we went in town. An abandoned noble's townhouse that was being used by the cult. I don't see any major concern with staying there. We'll still want to set a watch, but it doesn't seem any more likely to be a problem than an inn."
Unalaq |
Townhouse, not going back to the haunted mansion ;-)
