Home then.
Once the boars are loaded onto the horses, everyone begins the trek home. On the way, Shalelu explains that she needs to speak to the mayor about the goblin activity she's been monitoring. She tells you that all five clans in the region have stopped killing themselves long enough to serve one dark purpose. A purpose of which Shalelu hasn't the faintest idea. Aside from Foxgloves random outbursts of jumbled word and ranting about how you all are "all players of a bigger game," her conversation is about all the conversation that goes on.When you get to town, Shalelu parts ways with you, but goes ahead and pays you 400 gp for the boars because Ameiko isn't around.
When you awake you all walk out of your rooms to see a frantic elderly halfling woman stops the party. She has been crying so much that she is impossible to understand much more than "Ameiko's gone!" She explains the best she can and then hands over a note that she found in Ameiko's room. The note is in Mynkayan, but the woman (who told you her name was Bethana) translated it and wrote the common tongue version on the back.
Here is the note. Everyone is at full health as well. Hopefully you can read the note.
Eagle Wolfhand |
Eagle reads the note, then reads it again, and again. Ameiko was one of his favorite people in Sandpoint. Already he was determined to find what happened to her. The thought of her getting caught up in any sort of goblin hunting made even his strong stomach quake.

"Hm, well, it seems to me that, unless you think we should give the lass' room its due-diligence, it seems to me our best clue is Glasswork." He tries his best to mask his deep concern. He looks at Yngwie, polar as the two of them were, Eagle had to respect his decisiveness. "What say ye, chief?"
Julen Brelade |
"After sleeping mine most fitful evening,
and a proper session of prognostication,
I have this thought, an inkling or seeming
that we should invest our reward towards the town's proper fortification. Of the different honors of this town,
I'll have you but quickly gaze around.
We are together a stone from cheliax,
and as Ameiko has played our fairest host,
I fear today we may not relax
as I had hoped. Surely however,
one with more intimate knowledge of the place
can bring other clues to bear at face.
We cannot follow clearly laid crumbs forever."
Wow, you guys flew through that today. Sorry, was at work all day. Anyone want/have skill in Know(Local) on this one?
Xai Bailong |
Xai is sure to bid Shalelu a fond farewell and many happy returns before she goes. She seems neat.
After the incident with the note, however, Xai frown. "Well, this is a pickle. Poor Ameiko... family wrapped up in all this goblin business..." Regardless of what Yngwie's ponderings turn up, Xai seems determined: "Well, I think we should get in on this Glassworks action. I'm sure Ameiko would be happy to have us on board."

scandal when he was born back in 4688 (a year before
Ameiko), since he's a half- elf. Bethana sagely notes, with
big eyes, that neither of Ameiko's parents are elves . It
was obvious that old Lonjiku wasn't the boy's father, and
his rage at the discovery of his wife's indiscretion was
the talk of the town for months. Lonjiku's wife Atsuii
never revealed who the father was , and it's a testament
to Lonjiku's stubbornnes s that they remained married.
Tsuto was handed over to the Turandarok Academy to
be raised outside of the Kaijitsu family, ignored by his
father and forbidden visits from his mother. Ameiko
starting visiting him in secret once she learned about
his existence at the age of 10, visiting him a few times
a month to keep him company, bring him some food,
and promise him that someday things would get all
sorted out. That all changed in 4705, when they had
a terrible argument in which Tsuto struck Ameiko.
Nobody knows what the argument was about,
but whatever it was sent Ameiko away from Sandpoint
for a year, during which time she made a living as an
adventurer. She returned to Sandpoint a year later to
attend her mother's funeral. Tsuto was quite public
in his opinions that his father had pushed Atsuii off a
cliff to her death, and during the funeral there was a
confrontation. Lonjiku nearly broke Tsuto's j aw with his
cane, after which Tsuto cursed him and left Sandpoint.
Ameiko has tried to reestablish contact with him ever
since, but was never able to track him down.
"Please, you have to something!"Bethana pleads, "Especially with the sheriff gone, that Tsuto is nothing but trouble!"
Julen Brelade |
That the dear Magnimar Monumental Stout, the one with the faun? After slapping down a gold on the counter, Julen proceeds to one of the taps behind the bar and proceeds to inexpertly pour a set of four beers.
I've had some wicked nights with this stuff. Julen smiles to himself. Payback is always worth it.
Wivvy |
Bethana sits down, but she is in no mood to stay. "Please you have to find her! She could be held captive under the Glassworks or-or..." Tears came to her eyes as she couldn't bring herself to admit that her dear friend could be dead.

Xai Bailong |
"Well, gosh," Xai says quietly and sipping at her beer. Good stuff- Julen knows how to pick 'em. She would enjoy it so much more were it not for Bethana's crying. "So Ameiko's missing, and the Sheriff's out? I mean, like I said, I'm all for popping down to the Glassworks and making sure everything is all right, but before we do- where is the sheriff, exactly? And why is Ameiko's brother 'trouble?'"
Sorry to bombard the poor halfling with so many questions, Wivvy, but a Samsaran's gotta know these things before walking into what's almost certainly going to turn out to be a dungeon. ;)
Wivvy |
Bethana sighs, trying to keep her calm, "If you must know, the sheriff is out of town because of the news about the goblins that Shalelu brought. Right now you are the only ones who can save her! Please, to their fathers Glassworks factory and save her! " Panic is beginning to set in her voice.

Julen Brelade |
"We may have to ask Shalelu about it later. It sounds like our friend may be in danger, though she is able and can often help herself. My curiousity bends to find what was told the sheriff by our elf..."
He downs his beer and walks to where Yngwie is acting all cool. No rest for the wicked, eh Yngwie?
Eagle Wolfhand |
Eagle is beginning to get frustrated at the lack of urgency. Adventure... rescue... camaraderie... mystery...this kind of mission is what he was made for. His life as a vigilante had him conditioned. It took a special kind of excitement to awaken the crusader inside him once again. And moreover, he desperately wanted to make sure Ameiko is safe.
"Right, we should get going. Come now, not a moment's delay!"
Away we go then?

Julen Brelade |
Julen pauses for Eagle to exit the door first. Once outside he stands holding it open behind him with right foot. His hands are busy fastening his sword belt. He looks up and down the street, taking in the sun.
People think they are safe here. They used to consider the goblins so lightly. The guards grew fat and mean. The little green monsters burnt the town down. Now look around, they are scared.
"Bethana, First I will find out a runner to inform mistress Shalelu. If we're not back by supper, find another and tell her to find me, will you?"
I am scared, too, but never will I show it to you. Never. He hopes it is all some mistake. Some misunderstanding, "but how? Now where is there room for the impossible?" Keetan would say.
Xai Bailong |
Xai smiles at Bethana and nods, then rises to join her companions. Time to put on a confident face, Xai, she thinks. This is it, Xai. Get yourself together. Stop embarassing yourself and a hundred lifetimes worth of fighting experience. Stop freaking out, stop daydreaming, and prove to these guys that you're not just blowing smoke.
Remember the basics. Focus. Friend Ameiko is counting on you! Well, probably, anyway.
Xai exhales hard as she cracks her knuckles and follows Yngwie through the doors. Glassworks, ho!
Wivvy |
As you approach the Glassworks building, you can see that all of the curtains are closed and the doors are shut. The building look climable, but barely DC 20 Climb. You also notice that the place is eerily silent.
Glassworks map at the top. You have editing rights to draw on it as you please.
Julen Brelade |
Julen finds some random child on the road and asks them to take word to Shalelu at the Mayor's office. Message reads: "Looking for Ameiko at the glassworks. Could be Trouble" Child gets a silver for her/his trouble.
He seems intent on using the front door of the glassworks to get in, and gives it a look-over.
Yngwie Pitborn |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
As they walk to the glassworks, Yngwie sees a butcher's shop and some children stealing a meat pie. They looked pretty scrawny, so he decides not to say anything, but the butcher comes walking around the corner. Yngwie recognizes him as Borlaf, the man who gets more fights than drinks at the bar each night.
Thinking quickly, the Tiefling has an idea. "Aura! See the bone? Git the bone girl, git the bone!" She bolts into the shop, grabbing a big leg bone and running off happily. As the butcher turns around Yngwie runs up to him. "So sorry mate, she goes crazy over bones and I didn't grab her fast enough. Here, for yer trouble." He puts a gold piece in Borlaf's hand, winks at the kids, and hustles off after Aura.

Xai Bailong |
Xai winces at Julen's somewhat less-than-skillful rhyme. He's usually better than this.
"Keep it quiet, fellows," Xai says, raising a finger to her lips. "There's something going on inside. I hear quacking from inside." She stops herself a moment, then auto-corrects: "Cackling. Like laughing. Not like ducks. Though that, too, could be a cause for alarm. I guess. But there's somebody in there, rabble-rousing, you know? Making a scene. Having a hootenanny. Shenanigans. Breaking things. So there's somebody in there, I mean."
"I propose we sneak around to the backside and slide in like strangers taking the unplucked rose! ...No, no, that sounded terrible. Please ignore what I said. But not the actual plan part of it, that part is still valid."
Eagle Wolfhand |
Eagle shakes his head, though laughing to himself, "Oh, will you two stop being poetic for a moment? We should go, and be quick about it, we don't want to risk giving away our anonymity."

Well, let's have a look at him. At least he appears to have the key we need.
Do we know him? Was the cut done by a blade? Is there any way to tell how recently he was killed? Hopefully the check tells me what I need to know.
Eagle Wolfhand |
"Hm..." Eagle bends down and studies the body. He became a little bit of an expert on postmortem investigation as a vigilante, working as the appointed healer. "Well, I don't recognize him, and it doesn't seem that any of you do either. He was killed recently, his blood still runs hot and red. We should take this gift he left us and try the door, lest anyone we know ends up this way.' Eagle takes the key from the dead man's hand, says a word of respect, and heads toward the door.

Once your are in the Glassworks building, you all can hear the sound of crashing and giggling coming from somewhere in the building. To save time I'm fast forwarding past the exploring the builidng part because it is pointless and you would find nothing. If there is anything you want to do in this time then go ahead and post it. If you follow the noises, then you find yourself in a room with several chemicals used to make glass, there are also two sets of doors, one leading to a staircase headed to the basement, and another opening to a room that is filled with crashes and giggling.

Eagle Wolfhand |
Eagle hears the giggling, and flashes a smile. He looks forward to a little more goblin blood.
He jumps around the corner, quickly taking in the layout of the room, making sure there are no innocents or dangerous chemicals to mind. PerC: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22

Xai Bailong |
Broken glass, everywhere! It's like a jungle sometimes, it makes me wonder how I keep from going under. Thank you, I'll be here all day.
Xai pulls one of her ever-reliable (ha!) javelins from her back as she enters the Glassworks.
Xai glances down at the broken glass dotting the floor and groans, wishing she had worn shoes with somewhat thicker soles. Seeing Eagle, Aura, and Yngwie lash out at the nearby goblins, Xai steps within throwing range and chucks her javelin at whichever goblin is still standing out of those three, if any.
Javelin!: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 Whaaaat! That might actually hit something!
Damage!: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
If, however, all those mooks are already down, Xai will instead move out into the room and go into defense mode until the goblins get closer.
Wivvy |
Eagle shoots the first goblin down, and Yngwie butchers another. Aura manages to hurt her goblin, nearly tearing him apart. She also manages to trip the goblin, causing him to fall to the ground. This does, however, cause Julen a Xai to miss the goblin, their missiles shooting right over their heads. -4 to ranged attacks against prone targets.
G7 jumps off of the table and hopes to bring its sword down on Aura's head, but Yngwie's great-sword intervenes as he hits a home run with the goblins head.
G6 hops onto the table and runs at the party.
