Morgana, emerging from the Rusty Dragon just in time to see Marissia walking off from Honani, hurries after the slightly older woman. "Marissia. Wait!" Catching up she falls into step with Marissia and smiles at her. "I meant what I said at dinner you know. I'm aware that people think your father is eccentric but he's a good man, a wise man and you've got all his smarts and more. You should be proud." She smiles, a touch brittle. "I don't suppose you could offer some advice? I feel something for Aldern. He's handsome, charming and I like him, but I'm just not convinced somehow... what do you think?"

"Oh, hello, Morgana," Marissia replies with surprise. "Smart, yes, but I wouldn't say my father was wise." She chuckles a bit. "But... thank you."

Marissia looks flabbergasted that Morgana's asking her help. She smiles brightly. "Oh! My! Well, let me see... I don't have much experience with romance, I'm afraid."

After a moment of thought, Marissia nods. "Aldern is handsome, and charming. He seems very taken with you. Positively smitten! It is quite romantic."

After a further moment of thought she adds, "Although... It was quite quick. You've only just met. Not that that's surprising, I suppose, you're quite a catch yourself, Morgana. Fashionable, beautiful, smart, and you saved his life. It's little wonder he fell for you so quickly."

Smiling, Marissia finishes, "His affections for you seemed genuine and heartfelt to me. And you seemed to enjoy his company. That warrants at least further evenings out, doesn't it? Tell me you'll grant him a date, at least."

Without hesitation, Trinity followed Honani and the young woman to the general store. Still under the impression that the woman's original request was genuine, she had to pause for a moment when the woman presented a second request.

(Why would she wan’t strangers to post up as lookouts at her family business? That just seems odd. There is no way that someone, such as myself, would go unnoticed standing around as a lookout. Something feels off about this. This could be an ambush, or worse.) Trinity though as she quickly glanced over at Honani. (I’m sure he is more than capable of defending himself, but there are too many possibilities in a situation like this.) She continued to speculate as she weighed the woman’s request.

“Although I am sure that Honani is more than capable of dealing with a matter such as this, I would feel more comfortable coming along. That’s assuming you don’t mind the company Honani.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------

The woman’s overreaction created a long moment of confusion for Trinity. She stepped back from the door, as it slammed shut, with a puzzled look on her face. “What in the hell just happened?"

"Something strange is going on. This whole thing doesn’t feel right!” Trinity stated blatantly as she began to look around for anything that seemed out of place.

Marissia doesn't live with her dad, she has her own home.

Marissia happily chats with Morgana the rest of the way to her home.

"Good-night, Morgana. Have a safe trip!"

Heedless of Trinity accompanying him, Honani follows Shayliss as she leads him inside only to have the door abruptly shut on him. He turns angrily towards Trinity, "Though I like you, and I respect your matrial prowess, that was most unkind. I am no hairless youth to be pampered and coddled like a babe. I am Honani, of the Shonati peoples. You weak city-dwellers know nothing of true battle. I need no assistance to kill some rodents and impress a pretty lass." With darkened eyes, he storms off into the night swearing in Shoanti as he goes.

Still confused about the whole situation, Trinity watched in amazement as Honani stomped off angry. (It would seem that I have worn out my welcome. I suppose it would have been better if I had let Honani descend into a cellar full of ghouls. Perhaps one day he will come to understand that not all things are as they appear. Hopefully he comes to that understanding before the price for ignorance is due.) She thought as she turned away from the door and began to walk down the road.

After waving goodbye to Morgana, though she doesn't seem to see, Tamiko retires to her room and bed, completely unaware of the commotion outside.

F

The whole group makes their way to their respective, and in some cases lonely, beds and sleep soundly until morning.

-----------------------------------------
Tamiko is the first one woken, by a frantic pounding coming from the bottom of her door. Opening it reveals a short halfling woman, whose name is Berthana - she helps Ameiko run the Rusty Dragon. "Miss Fujiwara, Miss Fujiwara. Please help! Miss Ameiko has disappeared - she's not in the Dragon or anywhere of her normal places! Could you and your friends look for her please!" The woman is obviously very upset at Ameiko's apparent 'disappearance'.

-----------------------------------------
Morgana, upon waking and going down to breakfast you find Kendra sitting at the breakfast table with a huge ream of papers spread across most of the table. She looks up as you enter and gives a tired smile. "This is not a good moment for Baylor to leave the town. I know Shalelu has got his back up about agitation in the local goblin tribes, but I really need him here at the moment." She pauses and Morgana finds her cousins considering eye on her.

"Morgana..." the tone makes it clear a favour is about to be asked. "Do you think you and your friends could help? Act as a sort of add-on to the town guard? I know it would do everyone a world of good if the Heroes of Sandpoint were making themselves known and helping to keep law and order?"

Morgana is a little taken aback at Kendra actually asking her to do something for Sandpoint but takes to the idea happily. "Certainly Kendra! I'll go and see them immediately after breakfast. What exact;y do you want us to do?"

After breakfast Morgana takes care to dress in a suitably elegant and sober costume before hurrying down the hill to Marissia's house were she knocks loudly and cheerfully.

"Good morning Marissia! Excellent new, Cousin Kendra, ahem. I mean, Mayor Deverin has asked us to help the town guard secure the town for the immediate future. Sheriff Hemlock has gone to Magnimar and she feels that our presence could be of help - isn't that wonderful! We should collect Honani and the others!" Morgana is practically bubbling with enthusiasm, the disappointment of last night seemingly forgotten.

Tamiko sleeps soundly with her full belly, but she awakens to Berthana's knocking. As the halfling delivers her message, she jolts awake, jumping up to change and grabbing her gear in a bit of a panic. "Ameiko's missing? When did you last see her? Does the town guard know about this yet?" Under her breath, she adds, "I hope that old man Lonjiku isn't up to anything after what happened yesterday." Tamiko knows Ameiko can usually handle anything, no matter what happens to her, but today she has a different feeling, one that something is going wrong - and that she's needed.

Marissia had just finished studying her spells for the day when Morgana knocks on the door.

"Oh, dear! Really? ME?" She looks both surprised and thrilled.

"Oh, I'll! I'll! I'll send word to the Academy! They'll need to cover my shift, and, oh, dear! I'm..."

Realizing she's rambling, Marissia clears her throat. "Ahem. Please express to the Mayor that I am honoured beyond words to accept her proposal."

Marissia quickly swaps out the contents of her satchel, for other objects, and smiles. "Ready!"

Marissia leaves her home and locks the door, then hails a messenger to inform her boss that she would be absent.

Then she follows Morgana off down the road.

The night had been a troubling one, which left Trinity with more than a few uncomfortable memories. Still unsure why things happened the way they did, she prepared herself for a nights rest with hopes that her head would be more clear in the morning.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------

The room had a freshly cleaned washbowl, which was a welcome sight first thing in the morning. Its cool water helped to freshen up an otherwise difficult night’s sleep. A night spent tossing and turning with memories of the hunt and the banquet. Thoughts revolving around Morgana's comment about peoples parents and the unusual look she had received from Aldern kept echoing in the back of her mind. Trinity was glad the night had concluded and she was more than ready to begin a fresh day with her regimental offering to her goddess.

The new sun had just presented itself as Trinity pulled the room's drapes open, which allowed the sun's warm rays into the room’s interior. The sun's warmth felt soothing to Trinity as she prepared herself for her daily ritual. After taking a moment to appreciate the warmth, she gathered her armor and started strapping the gear on. The process was tedious, but it had become routine. After donning her armor, she found her sword and drew the blade clear from its sheath. Once the blade was clear, she presented the blade hilt up in her left hand. She then removed the holy symbol from around her neck. The symbol of Iomedae had served as a comforting item for Trinity for many years, and today was no different. She took a deep breath as she draped the symbol over the hilt of her blade and left hand. The fresh sunlight in the background lent a moment of awe as it glinted off the blade and created a shadowy silhouette on the opposite side of the room. After taking a knee, She fixed her vision on the blade and began to pray.

“As always Iomedae, I am in need of your guidance, wisdom, and protection. I follow you and embrace your teachings as I believe them to be. I hold no other above you and will always bask in your light. This blade becomes an extension of your will as it extends from my hand. This symbol reflects your presence as it is presented at all times. I come to you on this day, as it begins, as a humble servant, and ask that you stand vigilant over me and those that travel with me. That you guide my path and protect my destiny as I bring justice to those unable to seek it themselves.”

A moment of silence followed the prayer before Trinity rose from her knee and replaced both her sword in its sheath and the holy symbol around her neck. With her obedience complete, she felt the presence of Iomedae just before her divine power refreshed. With her spells now fully intact, she began collecting the rest of her things and then headed out for a morning meal.

Marissia nods. "Oh, dear! I had heard Shalelu had been gone for a while, but that's not strange. But, if she's delivering bad news, that is worrisome... I wonder what's going on?"

"That's unfortunate! Sheriff Hemlock would not have gone all the way to Magnimar if it was not important... Is the Lord-Mayor unlikely to offer us aid?" Despite her knowledge of the goings on in Sandpoint, clearly Marissia doesn't know much about Magnimar's bickering bureaucracy.

"Oh, look! There's the Rusty Dragon. Do you think everyone is up already?"

Marissia wanders into the Rusty Dragon behind Morgana, and looks around for her companions. Seeing Trinity, she smiles and waves.

The party comes together in the Rusty Dragon main room. Berthana is bustling around and keeping up a cheerful chatter but the room is somehow less cheerful than normal, and Ameiko is not present.

Hurrying past with a stack of plates Berthana somehow still manages to drop something in Tamiko's hand - looking reveals it to be a room key, similar to her own but more elaborate.

A couple unanswered questions, but no matter.

Tamiko follows the halfling out as her upset face changes back into her cordial serving face - though a little less cordial today. Spotting the rest of the "Heroes of Sandpoint", she heads over to the normal table. Speaking in a low, urgent voice so that the other customers at the inn hopefully can't hear, she says: "Berthana here", motioning to the halfling hustling about, "told me that Ameiko is missing, and she can't find her in any of her normal places. Hopefully she went out somewhere and will be back soon, but in the meantime, Berthana asked us to try to find her. She gave me a key", opening her palm to show it, "which is probably the key to Ameiko's room - we should probably go first and check what we can find there." Then, after a pause: "We all saw Lonjiku yesterday. Perhaps he knows something too." Tamiko is trying to keep a strong face, but her worry shows through.

Trinity took a drink from her glass of juice in order to wash down the serving of eggs she had consumed just before Tamiko began explaining the concern about Ameiko’s disappearance. After swallowing the juice and placing the glass back on the table, she began to speak.

“It hasn’t been very long since we last seen Ameiko. I believe that was her just the other night having some sort of squabble with an older gentleman. Am I correct about that? Well assuming that was her, she hasn’t been missing for very long. Is there any reason to believe that there is foul play at work? Or are we thinking she just headed off somewhere unannounced?” Trinity asked while hoping that the latter of the two would end up being more accurate.

“I don’t know if raiding the young woman’s room is a good idea without some evidence that she is in trouble. That is unless one of you know her on a more personal level, and can vouch for the validity of the intrusion.”

Once again Honani heads downstairs for breakfast. His klar and glaive-guisarme strapped to his back. He knew enough city-folk, by face if not name, to return their greetings. Gruffly he sat as far away from Trinity as he could; yet, still hear the group conversation.

Eyeing his food hungrily, he voraciously tears into the meat with his unrefined manners. Melted fat running down his chin, he looks at the others. "I am not surprised that you wish to impede our search for the missing woman, Trinity." Honani digs with a biting tongue.

"My people, the Shonati, do not lock their door, nor hide their possessions. We may be savages but we know enough to respect other people's property. If someone has something I desire, I need to work hard to get it, or challenge them for it.

"Here you have much and more, and live in luxury, but need to guard your possessions with lock and key. Foolish.

"If you are worried about the woman, and you think there is a clue, then we can go to her room, knock on the door. If there is no answer, we can just use the key. If we take nothing, what harm is there?" Honani resumes eating and chewing, eating and chewing loudly.

"Oh, dear!" Marissia gasps. At hearing Trinity's words, she pauses. "Yes, that's true. She hasn't been gone long. Tamiko? Could she have just been out cooling off somewhere? Perhaps visiting her father for reconciliation?"

Marissia looks between Honani and Trinity with concern.

What happened between them?

Shifting uncomfortably, Marissia listens to the rest of Honani's argument.

"...There is validity in what both of you say. Ameiko hasn't been gone long. But Berthana knows her best, and if she is worried enough to give us the key to Ameiko's room, we should give her claims some weight. I suggest we speak with Berthana to learn all we can about Ameiko's habits, and how long she's been gone, then check her room for anything suspicious. Berthana is rushing around trying to do at least two peoples jobs by herself, she catches sight of Marissia waving and waves back but does not come over.

With no other leads to pursue you head upstairs, Ameiko's room is on the first floor near the stairs and the door yields to the key Bethana provided.

Inside the room is clearly unused. The bed is immaculately made and has not been slept in. The room is spartan, neat and homely. In fact the only thing that stands out is a crumpled piece of paper near the waste-basket. It is written in an unusual language, with pictoral symbols written in a flowing hand.

Written Minkayian:
Hello Sis!
I hope this letter finds you well, and with some free time on your hands, because we've got something of a problem. It's to do with father. Seems that he might have had something to do with Sandpoint's recent troubles with the goblins, and I didn't want to bring the matter to the authorities because we both know he'd just weasel his way out of it. You've got some pull here in town, though. If you can meet me at the Glassworks at midnight tonight, aybe we can figure out how to make sure he faces the punishment he deserves. Knock twice and then three times more and then once more at the delivery entrance and I'll let you in.
In any case, I don't have to impress upon you the delicate nature of the request. If news got out, you know these local rubes would assume that you and I were in on the whole thing too, don't you? We're all still foreigners in their eyes and foreigners are always the first ones to get in trouble. I still don't understand how you can stand to stay here.
Anyway, don't tell anyone about this. There are other complications as well, ones I'd rather talk to you in person about tonight. Don't be late.

Tsuto.

Knowledge Local/Nobility, DC15:
Tsuto caused a minor scandal when he was born some thirty years ago since he is a half-elf and both Longiku and his mother, Atsuii, were human... Tsuto was handed over the Turandarok Academy to be raised outside the family. Longiku never visited and Atsuii was forbidden to do so. Longiku applied his considerable influence in Sandpoint to ensuring that no-one, ever, talked about it and the few who did suffered painful lessons until they learned not to do so again.

The Glassworks clearly refers to the seat of the Kaijitsu's industry and power, the Sandpoint Glassworks.

Technically, Tamiko has Minkaian as her ethnic language, but by her backstory she isn't quite proficient in it at all. I'll try to strike a balance between the two whenever it comes up, I guess.

Tamiko instantly recognizes the language from the symbols, though reading and understanding it is another matter. "Sister...something about father...glass..." she mutters to herself as she struggles to decipher the letter. As she reaches the end, she says haltingly: "It's from Tsuto, probably. Ameiko's brother. Something about their father, goblins, and meeting at a glass factory at midnight?" She doesn't care to share what she understands of the next paragraph, of course.

Tamiko didn't really know Tsuto that well, considering the circumstances, but she knows his full story from Ameiko, even though the old man had tried to suppress it. If there was anyone he couldn't control, it would be his daughter. But hadn't Tsuto skipped town years ago? Why would he be back now? This is getting stranger and stranger...

edited a little to account for bad memory...she probably has met Tsuto and knows a bit more than most from Ameiko

"It sounds like we need to investigate the glassworks then."

Marissia's eyes widen. "Tsuto? I wasn't aware they were still in contact with one another."

After a moment of thought, Marissia explains, "Tsuto is a half-elf. I'm sure you can imagine what a scandal that caused when he was born. Both Lady and Lord Kaijitsu are human, after all... In a rage, Lonjiku handed him over to Turandarok Academy. He disavowed all knowledge of the boy, forbade his mother from visiting him, and ensured anyone who spoke on the issue suffered... painful lessons."

"I've always felt sorry for Tsuto. We went to school together, you see. Although, I was a few years older than him, and much advanced in my studies. We weren't close."

At Morgana's words, Marissia nods. "Yes, of course! It sounds like Lord Kaijitsu might have something to do with the goblins after all... We should hurry!"

Later:
Once everyone is out of the room, Tamiko locks it up again. Then, she heads over to try and catch Berthana, still holding the letter.

Marissia hurries out of the room, and then outside into the road, letting Tamiko take care of speaking with Berthana.

Ready to head to the Glassworks when everyone's ready.

Obviously still uneasy with Honani’s aggressive posture, Trinity chose to quietly follow along while the group made their way to Ameiko’s room. The inquisitor listened intently as Tamiko explained the note and ultimately agreed that the Glassworks would be a good place to continue the investigation.

"It is a place where people make glass Honani." Morgana explains as she keeps pace with her long striding friend. She looks back towards Trinity for a moment before setting her pace forward to keep Honani on the right track.

"Are you all right Honani? You and Trinity seem less than friendly this morning."

Honani chuckles softly, "Oh so that you do not give a flowery name like the forest we hunted in. This place that we go to is simply named for its purpose. Glass - works. You city folk never cease to amaze me.

"Trinity and I are fine. She has displayed her battle prowess on more than one occasion yet I shall not ask her to accompany me the next time I find a pretty lady in need of a strong, Shoanti man to keep her warm in bed. In that regard she is worse than these irritating goblins that love to attack you weak city-folk."

Honani takes in the sights and sounds of Sandpoint, a place that he has become used to, but hasn't fully accepted as a home quite yet. The architecture of the building, the smells of the spices, the attire of the locals are still foreign enough to him that he notices more than the inhabitants of cities.

Overhearing Honani say something to Morgana about warming her bed, Marissia blushes brightly and turns her attention eslewhere.

Isn't she interested in Aldern? Well... I suppose Honani is very strong...

"So, Tamiko!" Marissia remarks loudly as they walk down the road, hoping to drown out whatever private conversation the two ahead were having. "Have you been to the Glassworks before? Were you hoping to have any say in it's operations?"

"Trinity, were you aware that the Kaijitsu family built their fortune on the glass industry? They supply the entire town with windows, and their decorative vases are simply exquisite!"

Trinity continued to follow the group to the glass-works. Although the inquisitor was physically present throughout the investigation, it was obvious that her thoughts where elsewhere. Once Marrissia sparked up a conversation on an unrelated topic, Trinity’s distant gaze quickly snapped back to her current situation.

“No, I know little of the inner workings of Sandpoint, or the business's within the city, but I can appreciate the fact that their family found success in such artful line of work. In fact, it was just the other day that I was admiring some stain glass windows in the new cathedral. Do you think the Glass-works provided those windows?”

RETIRED

"Oh, definitely!" Marissia replies immediately. "The have many skilled artisans in their employ. In fact, I was hoping to get some beautiful windows installed in my home, but the price to upgrade is more of a fantasy than anything at this point. A teacher's salary, you know..."

Marissia continues to prattle on about local gossip until the Glassworks comes into view.

When you all arrive at the glassworks the first thing you notice is how quiet it is. The place is clearly shut up although the noxious smokes that usually characterise the place even when the shop is shut are present. apart from this there is no sign of life anywhere. All the windows are barred and the outer doors, one at the front and another one at the rear as well as two at the side, are all locked. (DD 20 to pick, or you can try to break them down)

Perception at the back of the building, DC12:
The sounds of the furnace are obvious but you can make out high-pitched giggles and shrieks coming from inside, as well as what sounds like breaking glass.

As you move around the outside of the building a few villagers stop to gawk at Sandpoint's heroes and their unusual activities. The common consensus amongst the vilagers is that Longjiku has some sort of secret project running and he won't be happy if people disturb him. This doesn't stop them watching though.

DC 15 Diplomacy/Intimidate if you want to disperse the crowd.

Trinity’s attention began to wane from the conversation with Marissa as the group neared the Glass-works. She cautiously observes the building and then concluded that the shop looked closed.

“It looks like the place is closed. Are we outside the establishment’s normal hours of operation?” She asked while looking back over at Marissa.

At the Tavern:
Tamiko manages to catch Berthana's attention, returning to her the key and the letter that they found. "Based on this letter, Ameiko seems to have gone to the Glassworks. We're going to go there to see if we can find her there. Thanks for your help. We'll make sure she's safe."

Poor Berthana...

On the road:
As they walk and chat, Marissia asks Tamiko about the Glassworks. "I've been to the works before, yes, but not for long. I'm not a Kaijitsu, I've never had much reason to care about their business...and neither did Ameiko care that much, really."

Tamiko can't hear anything, even when Trinity points it out. Seems like the doors are locked and there's no other sign of activity... "Does anyone know how to pick a lock?", Tamiko asks, quietly so that the onlookers can't hear.

Reaching the Glassworks, Honani covers his mouth with a perfumed kerchief secured from one of the more friendly inhabitants of Sandpoint. His face screws up in a look of disgust as the fumes permeate the air around him.

Listening to his companions, he adds, "If you want to get in, I can use the Shoanti way of opening locks." he eases his glaive from his back. "But there is no need for a spectacle. We should disperse the onlookers.

"Before we do that, if you truly believe that someone is in danger and we need to get in there, I will take care of it. But we need to be sure. The elders of my village would punish me severely for breaking into a place like this for no reason. I can only imagine with odd city-folk punishment the leaders of Sandpoint would have."

Honani gazes at his companions, waiting for their acquiescence to proceed with breaking and entering the Glassworks.

If we break in:

Honani eases his weapons off his back and approaches the crowd. "Weak inhabitants of Sandpoint, once again your leaders have called upon the services of Heroes of the goblin insurrection. We are on business, dangerous business, business that could see me fighting hordes of undead, strange creatures dreamed up buy the vilest of arcane users, every second they shall try to rip my still beating heart from chest, as I try to impale them with my meager weapons. Should we fail and they escape, you will be their first target.

"I suggest you find a safer place to spend the night." With that he turns to the Glassworks and begins to try and break the lock.

As Trinity remarks about the sounds she hears, Marissia jumps. "I hear it to! And.... shrieks and breaking glass!"

With a look at Honani, Marissia says, "Hurry! Quick! It sounds like someone's in trouble!"

Then Marissia hurries over to the crowds in an effort to shoo them away.

Although Trinity was in agreement with Honani’s assessment of breaking into the establishment, she was hesitant to voice her support do to the increasing activity taking place within the Glass-works. The fact that the establishment should have been open coupled with the unusual sounds coming from the place, left little doubt that something was wrong.

“Normally, I would advise restraint when it comes to breaking into a place of business. By the sound of things, I believe someone or something is sacking the place. Because of our past encounters with goblins, I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest that it might be more goblins. So yes, Honani, please exert some of your Shoanti lock-picking skills on the door as soon as the crowed dies down.”

Trinity waited a moment for Marissia to explain to the crowed that something important was about to happen at the Glass-works, before drawing her sword and preparing to enter the establishment. (I'll be surprised if anyone leaves after hearing that something exciting is about to go down.)

Marissia is, just about, able to disperse the crowd - so that those who remain to gape do at least do so from a fair distance.

Honani applies his 'shoanti lock-pick' to the door and opens it with three mighty blows.

The (ruined) door gives way and you all move swiftly into the factory shop, where brightly coloured pieces of glasswork are presented on tables and pedestals.

Lots of empty rooms so I'll give you the major things and you can roll anything you feel is appropriate.

2: Storage room, various glasswork packed in boxes.
3: Cleaning closet - brooms and mops.
4: Store room with miscellaneous tools and work clothing.
5: Bunk room with numerous beds, the beds are rumpled and many are covered in dark brown stains.
6: This former dining room seems to have been thoroughly pillaged by something.
7: Washroom.
8: Kitchen, ransacked. Everything edible has gone.
9: Pantry - something very hungry got in here and made a terrible mess.
10: Firewood store room.
11: This meeting room is neater than the rest of the factory - although there's nothing of interest here.
12-14: Business area, features a reception desk, a small office and a file room. All seem to be untouched.
15: This preparation room has numerous barrels and crates filled with various powders, including sand.

Craft Alchemy, DC10:
These are the primary ingredients for making glass - sand, soda ash and lime.

16: This room has a wheelbarrow partially loaded with different bottles. The shelves contain various reagents used for colouring glass and a safe hangs open on the far wall. The key is still in the lock. There are two doors more doors in this room, large double doors to the left and a single door in the corner.

The laughing and giggling Trinity heard earlier is now apparent to all of you - its coming from behind the double doors...

What are you going to do?

Marissia rushes through the familiar glassworks shop and hurries down the hall. She opens each door she passes and quickly peeks her head in, looking to see if anyone inside is in danger. Finding nothing in the storage room, cleaning closer or storage room, she moves onto the bunk room and freezes.

"Oh, my..." She breathes. "No... Are... Are we too late?"

Calling over her shoulders at the others, Marissia tells them, "It think there's blood in here. You keep going! I'll check for survivors!"

Then Marissia enters the bunk room and examines the brown stains. Trying to determine: is it blood, how many victims, and are the victims likely dead.

Then Marissia gets down on her hands and knees and checks under the beds for survivors.

---

Once she's finished searching the bunk room, Marissia moves on down the hallway, opening each door she passes and peeking into each room. Although she keeps an eye out for survivors, she finds little else to distract her.

---

Marissia enters the room last, having been delayed by searching the bunk room. Upon hearing the giggling, she looks grim.

"I have a horrible feeling about all of this! But, we must hurry. Someone might yet be alive in here!"

Marissia is ready to follow the others into the room with the double doors to meet whoever's giggling.
