Knowledge arcana checks bare no fruit, but Knowledge planes can be rolled for the monster.
Nic lands his spell but Natalia misses, then, the creature vanishes before your eyes.
Natalia: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Nic: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Whoops, ignore this. It's a SLA and doesn't grant a spellcraft check. I'd just delete the whole spoiler but it will screw up my rolls below.
The sinspawn steps to Vire and attacks
Bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23 Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 +Will save
Claw 1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22 Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Claw 2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Will: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14 Success!
Everyone is free to act.
Eloviel |
I can't see, it looks like trouble...
She moves forward to stop just in front of Blue. "What's going on?" she asks.
Seeing the battle in full, Eloviel starts a song from behind the group to Inspire Courage, the sounds form no words that could not be understood but still delivers intense feeling.
Nicolae "Nic" Plamen |
Blue and Nu |
Blue shakes his head. "Did that damn flying thing just disappear?" He moves into the room just ahead of Eloviel, handing Natalia his blade with a "Do you mind?", nocks his bow and fires at the sinspawn, trained to shoot into combat.
longbow: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 13 dmg: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Vanea Lothmatis |
Sorry, the map still don't work for me!I can't see it but can't move my token
Vanea enters the room, placing herself next to Nicolae and trying to figure what kind of monster they have to fight now, her mace raised
Never a dull moment, i guess? Have you seen what hurted Eloviel, she can't stop to scream it seems...
She winks at the mage
Knowledge planes: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
jimibones83 |
Blue and Nu |
"Would one of you ladies close th' door so that invisible thin' can't get out?"
Blue stays in place and fires again at the sinspawn.
bow: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26 dmg: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Eloviel |
Eloviel completely ignores Vanea's comment and continues her singing. She does shut the door behind her.
I hope that bat has not yet escaped.
Nicolae "Nic" Plamen |
Nic moves towards the altar, to try to assist Vire before it's too late. Down 5', Diagonal 20', Right 5' He maintains his Total Defense as he does, turning slightly to call out to the women present. There is a lady creature here, ja somewhere, afraid of you more beautiful women, da.
Vanea Lothmatis |
It's a quasit. An evil creature from another plane. I wonder what it's doing here.
to Blue
I may be wrong, but it could have escaped the room a long time ago. It want to defend it from us, so there's little chance it would go right now.
Blue and Nu |
Blue quickly glances around the room at other potential exits where the creature could leave the room other than by way of the door.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
"Can those things just bounce back and forth between our plane and theirs? How would it get out, except through the doors?"
Natalia Irvington |
"Hear that? I'd say Nic's trying to hit on us during combat.."
So let's for sake say she'd have moved that one turn. Does this door have those ringshaped handles we could ...use blue's sword on as a barricade? We'd know if it rings she's there....
Bluff: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20
"Lady, it's you attacking us first, i merely wish to talk. I'm rather intrigued by all of this, can you tell me more about it? These others will back down when the fight with your minion is over."
Vanea Lothmatis |
Vanea sighs and rolls her eyes, exagerratly
is this really the time and place for a theology session, Eloviel? Please don't make me say you're not a sylph but an airhead... You told us yourself only a few minutes ago that this place was dedicated to Lamashtu, mother of Monsters... A quasit is a monster, and so revere Lamashtu as its mother, I suppose.
Eloviel |
"Really? I thought we were facing an invisible talking bat, not a demon lady. Blue and Vire where so large I couldn't see into the room properly..." says Eloviel with a pout.

@Blue There are doors on both sides of the room but they are closed.
There is no response to Natalia. Out of nowhere, some sort of rock creature (Knowledge Planes) appears behind Vire to assist in the assault.
Earth Elemental
Slam: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Sinspawn
Bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Claw 1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23 Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Confirm Crit: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Claw 2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Vire has so far taken 12 damage
Everyone is free to act
Blue and Nu |
"Why won't this thing fall?"
Blue fires once again at the sinspawn.
shoot: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
... "... that's why" he mutters. "Looks like its time to go back in close"
He moves over to Natalia, prepared to take his sword or grab it if she hands it to him.
Nicolae "Nic" Plamen |
Perception Check to have detected any summoning for the Earth Creature: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 If detected, Nic calls out the rough location.
Nic moves behind the "lava pool", approaching the sinspawn and swings his staff, hoping to inspire Vire to fight back.
Quarterstaff + Flank: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 for Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
If you won't be fighting for yourself, then by the Gods do so fight for us.
Edit: If I am not mistaken, Nic is outside the Inspire Courage field.
Natalia Irvington |
jimibones83 |
Vire Locke |
This thing hates me, 3 crits in a row.
Vire kills it, probably.
2 handed power attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
damage: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (2, 1) + 10 = 13
"I wouldn't mind your touch right about now Vanea."
I failed to notice that Eloviel started up an inspire earlier. So my attack roll and damage are both 1 higher, sorry about that.

For whatever reason, the quasit appears to be imperceivable, and like the rock creature before it, an eagle appears next to Vire and begins attacking, dropping Vire to the ground.
Earth Elemental
Slam: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20 Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Eagle
Talon 1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Talon 2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20 Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Vire is at -2 hp
Everyone is free to act.
Nicolae "Nic" Plamen |
Nic moves up and swings his staff, attempting to drive the eagle away from Vire. Quarterstaff Aid Another's AC: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 to increase Vire's AC, if that's a thing, otherwise it is a Total Defense stance.
We need to find this Quasit, watch and listen closely, da.
Perception Check: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Vanea Lothmatis |
Know. PLanes: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Vanea, fearing for the life of Vire, tries to influence the massive eathly thing's mind... even if she is not sure there is a mind to influence.
Cast daze on the Earth Elemental, DC 13
Blue and Nu |
With Vire on the ground and no longer a threat to the quasit or to the eagle, Blue tries to use his skill with animals to convince it that the earth elemental is the next threat in the room.
(I've never tried anything like this before or even heard of anyone trying it, but if I can 'communicate' with the animal and the quasit can't contradict me (?), then perhaps it'll work.)
Handle Animal: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Unfortunately, Blue is having too much difficulty getting the animal's attention to handle it properly.
Eloviel |
Due to her earlier dialog with Vanea, Eloviel stopped singing.
"Looks like it can cast silently too... Can you detect sources of magic in this room Nat?"
With Vire knocked down, Eloviel positions herself between Blue and Vanea and tries to shoot down the rock thingy.
Longbow Attk: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Longbow Dmg: 1d8 ⇒ 1

Blue and Nu |
"Let's grab Vire and get out of here. We can find a way to deal with the invisible hag and come back!" Blue shouts.
He stashes his bow and rushes forward toward the stairs to emphasize his point.
jimibones83 |
@Nic I had to look it up, but yes you can. Vire gets a +2 AC until your next turn:)
Vaneas spell fails, though she's unsure why, as does Blues attempt at diplomatic resolve with the winged predator and Eloviels shot with the bow. Natalia has better luck with her magic missile as the elemental turns its attention towards Blue. The eagle continues its rampage on the nearest target, Nic, and the quasit finally reveals herself as attempts to cast a spell on Vanea, though it has no effect.
Slam: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Talon 1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Talon 2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23 Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10 Fail!
Will Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23 Success!
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 Fail!
Stabilize: 1d20 ⇒ 3 Fail!
Everyone is free to act.
Nicolae "Nic" Plamen |
Nic spies the quasit and shouts to the others, She is too much the quick for ranged fighting, close on her ja. She will harried us with creatures all the way to the Sandpoint. He then swings, hopefully strongly at the eagle, hoping to knock it from the air. Quarterstaff Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 for Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
He then moves back away from the bird, hoping to draw it away from it's original target, Vire. 5' step South
Blue and Nu |
Not sure what kind of a check or action that is to pick up Vire.
Risking the wrath of the elemental and the eagle, Blue rushes up the stairs, grabs Vire by the collar, spins on his heels and half-drags their fallen comrade past down toward the door.
Eloviel |
@Blue: Conceptually, I think it's an automatic success grapple if he's unconscious. But my rule fu is still weak...
Eloviel moves past Vanea (3squares down) before attempting to sing in Common to Fascinate (DC13) the quasit, while it's facing away from the fighters behind it.
jimibones83 |
The rules are unclear as to dragging an ally. What seems reasonable to me is that it be a standard action that succeeds automatically but provokes an aoo from enemies to drag an ally at half speed, so thats how we'll play it.
Blue, unconcerned with his own well being, jumps the stairs in hopes to save Vire. The elemental and the eagle both attack him but the elemental pursues him to continue. The elemental provokes an AoO from Blue to get to this position.
Elemental AoO: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22 Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Eagle AoO: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Slam: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22 Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
The eagle takes the bait and follows Nic, doing only sleight damage.
Talon 1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Talon 2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19 Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Erylium casts a spell, causing Nic to become frightened and flee in terror. For: 1d4 ⇒ 3 rounds
Eloviel: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 Pass!
Blue: 1d20 ⇒ 17 Pass!
Natalia: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15 Pass! Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 Fail!
Nic: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 Fail! Spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10 Fail!
Vanea: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15 Pass!
Stabilize: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (8) - 1 = 7
Vire continues to bleed. Now at -4
Everyone is free to act
Nicolae "Nic" Plamen |
Feeling an unnatural terror rising up in him, unable to fully resist it, Nic looks around frantically for an avenue of escape. One staircase is guarded by the Quasit, looking far more sinister and hellish than he at first supposed, the other warded by the razor claws of a incensed eagle. Trying to fight the panic, Nic steps back from the bird desperate to clear it from his path to safety. He launches a blue bolt of energy at the bird, calling out, Erastil aid me in getting off this to be thrice damned altar. A bright blue arrow flies forth, striking the eagle. Force Missile Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Nic takes a 5' step south, then launched a Force Missile, only one left now.
Blue and Nu |
"Natalia, ma sword! Can someone get the *+%$ door open?" Blue says through gritted teeth, cursing himself for this silly heroics and poor foresight as he drags Vire further to the door. "You ladies carry him back while I hold them off at the door here for a few seconds. With any luck, that spellcaster will be content to just drive us off!"
(Blue had no weapon in hand and was unable to threaten the elemental as it moved by... sadly. This round he uses his move action at half speed to get close to Natalia and takes his sword back, laying Vire at their feet.)
jimibones83 |
@Nic Sorry to do this to ya, but your unable to do anything but flee unless there is no way to flee. As is, you can flee by jumping over the balcony, but you'll take an AoO from the eagle. Thats really the only option though.
@Blue I believe you are unconscious from the 16 damage I did. Sorry, I didn't notice it when I typed out the results of my actions.
@Everyone I almost forgot, everyone is shaken this round. The spell she cast confers it on a passed save. A shaken character takes a –2 penalty on attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks.
I believe everyone is still free to act, Blue being unconscious and Nic taking his turn over.
Nicolae "Nic" Plamen |
Well, we will see what this jump from the platform, over 10' to safety will do to Nic, that and the Eagle's AoO...
Acrobatics Attempt to negate 1st 10' of fall: 1d20 ⇒ 16 Success
Nic lands and somewhat cushions his fall, though is still prone and threatened by the Eagle. Fall Damage from remainder: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Eagle's AoO vs adjusted AC14: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23 Possible Crit
Confirmation Roll vs AC14: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 Success
Damage: 2d4 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5
Nic is on the ground, the eagle hovering overhead, the maniacal quasit looming in the foreground. Looking to the others, before he collapses Nic mutters, Fly you fools.
Nic is at -1HP. Leave him and get the crap out of there. Bring back the new guys to avenge him.
Natalia Irvington |
Gulp.....run girls. Maybe the demon woman will keep the guys as prisoners/boytoys until we get back.
Natalia sees everything unfold so quickly.
"Vanea, Eloviel come on. We are no frontline fighters, we have to get help!"
Natalia will withdraw and move away.
Suggesting a withdraw action and doubletime it back to town.
