Many apologies to The Thousandfold and Deylinarr for pulling the rug out from under your hopes! I freely admit I was unprepared for how many strong applicants would appear, and how quickly. If in the future I ever recruit again for a game, I will be sure to not offer false hopes for how long the window will be open...or, I'll set a firm date and stick to it. Lesson learned. In the meantime, please do feel free to follow the game if you like. One never knows when a replacement player may be needed.

Adventurer #33, I neglected to mention that, since I inadvertently ninja'd your bio this morning, you are indeed on the list for consideration. Sorry to leave you hanging.

Kenderkin here....

The pc would look like this only an orc and first level of course, with the proper point buy and campaign trait....

Liberty's Edge

Hey RA, I get what you are trying to do here and just wanted you to know I dont have any certain preconceived character in mind. I could go any one of half a dozen ways depending on whats needed. Im all over the idea of having the group work together in character creation. Its how I like to do my in person games when I dm as well.

Makes for a more cohesive party that works better together.

If Im chosen you wont regret it. If Im not, well thanks for at least 'reading' my posts ;)

Pretty much ditto the above, as well as a cry that I'm still here. I'm good in whatever role, and like to fill in gaps the party might have. Cohesive groups are always a huge plus :)

Open to many character concepts as well....

What Dread said.

In real world games with an established group, we usually talk about what classes we want to play and what will help the group and such. Then we all roll up characters that we like and that work fairly well together. I kind of like this way of doing things, so I'm hoping those of us (fingers Xed) who are chosen can get some of that in.

Really agree with the guys reasoning. I haven't offered a character concept since I believe the group should work that out together. If the Runelord DM feels it's necessary I think he would've asked for it up front.

Yeah I have quite a few ideas for characters, I can fill almost any role, plus it helps you become a well-rounded player imo.

The Exchange

Thanks DM Runelord. Personally I haven't found the APs very railroady maybe because of the nature of play by post or the people on these boards who play and run games.

Also you mentioned daily posting, but does that include weekends? I only say this because DM burnout has been for a problem for at least one of my friends with a family.

I don't know what the best way to start recruitment is, but this does seem to be better than competing in the who can make the most optimised or characterful players.

Quite excited about this, if you can't tell.

Cheers

I have found that they usually start very fast, but fizzle before characters reach level 2. Fingers crossed on acceptance and on a lasting game.

Agreed. I had bad luck with pbp when I played before, but this forum looks to be filled with more committed players.

Ah, I forgot to mention, that I'm flexible with my character concepts. When we have a firm group of players, I'm ready to adjust my character to fit in the group.

just thought I would post saying still here

Silver Crusade

I would like to play and I have no problem with playing a race and class combo that the DM is comfortable with.

My weekends are little bit sporadic, as are those of most adult players, I'd imagine. I work every other weekend, and often make family plans on the off weekend. That said, I still expect to be able to check in and post at least one time on most days, even on the weekend. Exceptions arise, of course, such as being out of town, or having illness in the family. I'll be forthright about these exceptions, so my players will know what to expect. Hopefully, my players will extend the same courtesy to me.

The point is that I'm taking the long view, treating the game as a marathon, not a sprint. Inevitably, there will be hiccups, but I've no intention of going AWOL (something which happens all too frequently, I understand). If I go a day without a post here or there, it doesn't mean the sky is falling. :)

I'm glad to see so much enthusiasm for this game, and for my unorthodox method of player selection. Most of you seem to have picked up on exactly what I'm looking for, which is most appreciated. It makes the selection process a difficult one, however.

Nevertheless, I expect that later today I will be able to announce my six preferred choices to play. Thanks again to all of you!

So, it looks like I've made my decision. I'd like to offer first dibs on a spot in the game to the following applicants...

Ethan Sower
Matthew/'Black Esme' Proust
Dread
Pedwiddle
LastNameOnEarth
French Wolf

Ultimately, I suppose it just came down to a sense that I may have the most in common with the above list of players. Please, if you weren't chosen, don't take it as a personal indictment. I'd have loved to have brought along a few others of you, if I didn't think it might overcrowd the game.

I have some names at the top of an alternates list, as well, if any of the above should have a change of mind. Please don't abandon the thread immediately, but wait and see how things shake out.

Sincere thanks to all of you for your interest, enthusiasm, and encouragement!

Discussion thread will go live shortly. If you six would kindly join me hither, we can commence work on some PCs.

Good luck, all.

I like leftovers.....

What say we all get together open a new discussion thread and figure out some way to get a game going.

I'm game to play, but not to run. Sounds like an excellent plan!

anyone want to run it?

I don't have the AP, and am running two myself.

I would like to someday GM a game but I have never even finished a campaign yet so I don't think I am ready. good luck to all who made it in!
