Ekkie happily hops into Cliff's pack. She looks a little worried at when Cliff mentions the possibly poisonous scroll case.
Your resident backpack navigator directs you to a place known as the Mariska Knackery in the Lowcleft district.
Erin
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Trys
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Yandu
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Erin can confirm that this place is mostly a slaughterhouse for horses that get old or become injured. Cliff can feel Ekkie drooling onto his neck as she gets hungry at the possibility of being around more horse meat. You all walk inside and see a middle-aged man of mixed ancestry who stands just over 5-1/2 feet tall. He sports a graying walrus-like mustache and speaks with a heavy Varisian accent.
"That's the longshanks horsekiller. I like him." Ekkie whispers to Cliff.
"Hail and well met. My name is Tersus Mariska, welcome to the Knackery." He introduces himself.
Mayumi Sato |
Mayumi steps foward and bows.
"Greetings honorable Tersus. We visit your establishment with peace in our hearts but duty in our thoughts. We are aware of a den of goblins nesting below your business and, on behalf of the Pathfinder Society, would like to root it out", the tian girl explains.
"We humbly request your permission to enter."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
DM Amazing Red |
"I don't know what you are talking about..." His denial ends as Mayumi's polite words take their effect.
“What could I do? Those little vermin have got me right where they want me! At first, I tried locks and bars to stop them, but the thefts got worse. If there’s any way in, they’ll find it!. Then the big, creepy one, at least a foot taller than me, came one night. It put the fear right into me, I’ll tell you, lurking there in the shadows with its snuffling breath and twitching ears. It said it knew exactly where my family lives and said it’d know if I tried to go to the watch. Then they burned down my shed outside to make their point. So I’ve had to go along with them, leaving the best slabs of meat for them and ignoring the scurrying I hear down in the cellars at night. If I don’t, they’ll burn down my home and murder my family!”
Mayumi Sato |
"Allow us lawful entrance into your business and your troubles will be behind you, for with me are three of the Pathfinder Society's greatest warriors here in Magnimar", Mayumi says with a wave to Trys, Erin, and Clif.
"They will drive the invaders from below your knackery and the goblins will think twice before ever threatening you or your family ever again."
DM Amazing Red |
"Alright." With that, he leads you to a sewer drain the goblins have been using.
With Ekkie's help, it takes a little over 45 minutes in the clammy fetid sewer tunnels to find the entrance to the Nightsoil Marauder's lair.
Give me a marching order please. The tunnels are 10 feet wide so you can have 2 in the front.
Erin Alegra |
Erin takes the front of the line, pulling a pair of goggles down over her eyes.
"The Pathfinder Society's greatest warriors, huh?"
She asks over her shoulder with a wry grin as she carefully examines the sewers ahead of them for dangers.
Perception 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (8) + 14 = 22 +2 Traps
"Trys maybe, but I would not really consider myself much of a straight up warrior though."
DM Amazing Red |
As you make your way into the lair, Erin notices a indentation in the floor indicating a pit trap right in front of you. Erin stops the group from falling in right as a group of Goblin sentries makes their way around the corner.

The big "T" is the pit trap. Trys and Erin followed by the first of Team Goblin.
Trys |
Oo, Goblins. I think I‘ll pound that one first. Trys points to Goblin A.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (14) + 16 = 30
Assuming that beats the DC by 10, Goblin A is Frightened for 1 round.
Erin, how long is it going to take you to disable that?
Erin Alegra |
"Too long to bother in a fight. I will cover you if you want to jump it. The pit is only 15 feet wide."
She responds taking a knee and swiftly drawing a bow to shoot at the front goblin on the left.
Erin draws a bow and drops to one knee (+2 AC to Ranged attacks)(move) then shoots (standard) at Goblin B
Attack 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Damage 1d6 + 3d6 ⇒ (2) + (4, 2, 5) = 13
Trys |
Assuming the fact that I am 10 feet back means I am able to get a running start, I will jump over the pit as I still have a Move Action this round. If I can't get a running start then scratch that.
Jump: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Trys dashes past Erin and lands menacingly in front of Goblin A, L.Hammer gleaming wickedly in the torchlight.
DM Amazing Red |
Try's threat scares Goblin A so much that he runs around the corner in terror. Good job, you beat the DC 10. Erin underestimates how small her target is and misses. The arrow sails right above his head, taking some strands of hair with it. He responds by drawing a flask and hurls it at Cliff.
1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (6) + 5 - 4 = 7
However the frontline block the trajectory and it bounces into
1d5 ⇒ 1
Lucia's space where it breaks. Trys, Lucia, Erin, and Cliff all take 1 point of fire damage from the splash.
Mayumi up!
All 4 goblins have shortbows, dogslicers showing. And of course, flasks of alchemical fire. They are equipped with leather armor.
DM Amazing Red |
Unless I am mistaken you need to clear 20 feet which means you just barely miss it, but you can get a running start. If I'm wrong let me know.
Reflex Save
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Trys takes a step back and gets a running start to launch herself across the pit. However she falls just short as she lands right near the edge. The floor expectedly gives away and she falls 20 feet.
2d6 ⇒ (5, 6) = 11 Falling Damage
She also finds that she is not alone. She is now prone and next to what appears to be some sort of ooze. It seems to be a carpet of fungus and mushrooms that stirs to life and attacks Trys.
Initiative
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (8) - 1 = 7 Which means he goes next.
It reaches out to slam Trys.
Slam
1d20 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 4 = 16
1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Fort Save
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
It easily hits the prone Trys, but she is able to fight off any infection caused by contact with the ooze.
So total 21 damage. Tough break.
Mayumi inspires the group with her poem which means Goblin Team B is up next.
DM Amazing Red |
Goblins C and D both follow suit and throw their alchemist's fires at Cliff.
1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (8) + 5 - 4 = 9
1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 5 - 4 = 18
The first one misses and splashes into
1d5 ⇒ 3
the space where Trys was and all of the PCs(except for Trys) take 1 point of fire damage. The second one hits it's mark despite cover and Cliff takes
1d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (6) + (3) = 9 and all those around him take another point of fire damage.
So to recap:
Cliff - 11 fire damage
Erin - 3 fire damage
Lucia - 3 fire damage
Mayumi - 2 fire damage
Trys - 21 regular damage and prone in a pit.
Yandu - 2 fire damage
Lucia, Yandu, and Cliff are up.
Trys |
I'm fairly confident that the Long Jump distance is the 'in between' space. Otherwise why list a DC for a 5 foot jump? That would be the equivalent of taking a step if you count the square on the other side. Think of it as jumping from one edge of the start square to the other edge of the finish square, like it would actually work in real life. So the DC for 15 feet is 15, and I made it, so no damage. Also, if the distance was 20 feet, I would have never attempted it in the first place.
Lucia Amberdagger |
As the party has moved down the stairs into the underground dungeon, as we are stopped by Erin, everyone is assulted by Goblins. Watching as Trys tries to get across and gets hurt by falling, Lucia pulls out her Longbow, she draws it and begins to fight at a distance.. Ignoring the liquid fire that hit her clothing.
Move Action-Draw Longbow Composite--Shooting Goblin B
Standard Action-Shoots: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Erin Alegra |
Erin takes another shot at the goblins, aiming for a goblin Trys is not blocking.
Attack 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23 (+1 Inspire Courage,-4 if Trys is in melee)
Damage 1d6 ⇒ 5 (+1 Inspire Courage)
After taking the shot, Erin stands and backs away from the pit.
"Trys, I will be over, make room if you can."
She shouts over the sounds of combat.
Backing up 10-15 feet to an open square to attempt the jump herself next turn.
Trys |
Trys takes a step to the left to open up a lane for Erin, and brings her hammer to bear on Goblin B.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 6 + 1 = 26
Non-Lethal Damage: 1d12 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 1 = 15
Intimidate: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (5) + 16 = 21
If Goblin B is still conscious, It’s also Shaken for 16 Rounds.
Yandu |
Yandu steps sideways into the spot opened up by Trys.
"Let's see how they will love this."
And with these words Yandu summons 1d3 ⇒ 3 dogs.
The aim is to get them between A/B and C/D - I have 35 feet reach - so it just works if I manage to get 5 foot forward.
Yandu |
3 dogs appear - barking and biting at the goblins and causing pandemonium.
Dog 1 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 Damage 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Dog 2 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 Damage 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Dog 3 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13 Damage 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
DM Amazing Red |
Yandu summons 3 ferocious hounds, 2 of which start to maul Goblin C. Cliff, fearing the end is nigh, casts a spell drawing on negative energy to heal himself.
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
He then draws a javelin and drops prone, hoping to avoid getting bombarded again, however he is still on fire from the alchemist's flask.
Trys easily knocks out Goblin B while Erin fires a shot to cover her at the already wounded Goblin C. Due to Mayumi's inspiration, the shot is enough to drop it, and it lies bleeding on the ground. The remaining goblins retreat. Goblin A keeps running while Goblin D follows.
Combat over!
If/when you loot the bodies:
Alchemist's Fire x2
Caltrops x4
Potions of Cure Light Wounds CL3 x2
Leather Armor(small) x2
Dogslicer(small) x2
Shortbow(small) x2
Arrows x40
Thieve's Tools x2
All of you can hear the obvious sounds of fleeing goblins as the sounds of combat alert them to your presence.
Go ahead and take care of healing.
Trys |
Well, so much for the element of surprise.
Trys picks up an Alchemist Fire, a bag of Caltrops, and a Thieves’ Tools.
To Yandu. You brought dogs, that’s a nice touch.
Cliff, have a potion, you don't look so good.
Erin Alegra |
"You should be able to walk across this portion of the floor now."
Erin states, standing up and rubbing her hands together.
After healing concludes
"I think I should head out a little further in front of the rest of you so we do not get ambushed like this again."
She states, matter-of-factly.
Rolls for when we proceed.
Stealth 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29
Perception 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 18 +2 Traps
Lucia Amberdagger |
Lucia pulls the wand out of her hair, and looks around to see if anyone is hurt. Upon seeing Yandu's serious burns, she taps a few of them..
CLW Wand x2 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (1, 5) + 2 = 8
Seeing some of the more serious wounds, she taps a few more times at Yandu.
CLW Wand x2 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (4, 4) + 2 = 10
She sees two clear vials.. She looks at them.. And they look very similar to the cure vials she has in her bag. She pulls out one of her own to compare, and they look the exact same. So she shrugs and puts them in the bags, hoping they are not poision instead...
Picks up the vials of CLW.. They are in my Handy Haversack if anyone needs one.
DM Amazing Red |
The lot of you walk a bit forward and turn the corner before Erin proceeds to scout ahead. About 20 feet in front of the group there is an open room to the right that looks to contain equipment for the guild’s goblins to practice their thieving skills including several human-sized training dummies covered with bells for pickpocketing and an obstacle course studded with sharp nails and jagged junk. It is currently empty.
She presses on for another 10 feet to find what looks to be sleeping quarters. She makes it there just in time to see some goblins fleeing out what seems to be another exit to the sewer.
She does hear some goblins speaking in their native tongue in a room about 35 feet away.
Erin Alegra |
Going to assume Cliff healed me with my wand from a few posts ago. 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Erin turns to the party and places a finger on her lips signaling quiet. Then proceeds after the goblins quietly while keeping an eye out for any dangers they may have left behind.
DM Amazing Red |
Trys sees the same things Erin does. And we'll see if Cliff can keep his promise. :)
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
So both Trys and Erin sneak up to the room where she heard the talking. When you reach the doorway, the talking stops and you hear the shuffling of little feet on rubble. Inside you see that the ceiling of this room has partially collapsed, creating a two story space to the west while exposing the chamber above to the east. Rubble lies haphazardly about the place, with some other larger pieces serving as tabletops for crude alchemical apparatuses. Soot, scorch marks, and other chemical residues cover many of the chamber’s walls and other surfaces. A sizable slab of jagged debris leans against the broken edge of the upper level’s floor in the room’s center. The upper level seems clear of wreckage and contains several wooden worktables. Opposite the entrance, a set of stone steps that once rose to the upper level are broken away halfway up their length. The whole chamber smells of burnt oil and acrid chemicals.
There are a total of 3 goblins in the room. One seems to be an alchemist of some sort, flasks and chemicals hanging off his belt. The other three looks to be his apprentices.
The 3 of them standing on the bottom of the map are 10 feet high on the ledge.

Lucia
Erin

Erin Alegra |
Finally home, map is prompting a login, still cannot see, Erin will be using the surprise round to get as close to the lead alchemist as possible while drawing her swords.
"Spread out!"
Erin yells, as she moves hastily towards the goblins.
Trys |
Trys shifts quickly into the room, drawing her bow as she moves and ducking under the broken floor above.
Basically, she is right under the goblin on the right.
Bow Shot: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 5 + 1 = 17, vs. Flat Footed AC.
