Erin Alegra |
Erin smiles, nods enthusiastically at Trys, and slips out of her chair at the corner of the room. She slips between a few drunken patrons and approaches her mark.
"Excuse me Sirs, but are there any strong men among you?"
Erin asks, directing the question to all three of them in general.
DM Amazing Red |
Lucia and Yandu
"Well I suppose he has a few minutes right now. Just make it quick before his next appointment shows up. You can keep your coin sir."
So the two of you are able to secure an audience due to Yandu's words. You walk in and see Valanni Krinst. He is also sitting at his desk looking over some papers. "Oh, you're not my next appointment. Who are you and what do you want?"
Erin and Trys
"We're all strong men, little lady. What do you need? A jar opened? Maybe some rats killed?" The middle one who seems to be the leader answers while looking at his associates.
Erin Alegra |
Erin responds directly to the one in the middle.
"A participant in a contest of physical strength actually. My cousin insists that there is no one of real strength in this town and has not lost an arm wrestling match all day. They saw you come in, thought you looked like a challenge, and asked me to issue you a challenge. Are you up for a little wager?
She asks with a smile, tilting her head a little to the side back towards the corner of the room.
Erin Alegra |
Erin heads back to the table and puts a hand on Trys' shoulder.
"Cuz, I brought you the three strongest guys in the bar. They might be stronger than the weaklings from earlier."
She then smiles and gestures for the men to take seats.
Trys |
Trys measures the man across the table with her eyes. Strongest man in the bar you say? Gee, I don’t know. Looks like a mama’s boy from where I’m sitting. Perhaps we should try the Tavern down the street. Maybe someone there will be strong enough to man-handle me. The corner of Trys’s mouth quirks at the thinly veiled innuendo.
Trys |
That’s a privilege reserved for those who impress me. Trys sits forward and slaps a few gold coins on the table, offering her hand in the age old challenge to arm wrestle. Man up, mama’s boy.
DM Amazing Red |
Erin and Trys
"Alright. Let's do this." The man rolls up his sleeve and puts his arm on the table.
Rules
Each round consists of a strength check and a fort save (to represent your draining stamina). If you have any bonuses to grappling and/or CMB go ahead and apply them to your strength check. Assume the battle goes back and forth until one person's check and save beats the other's for the round. In the interest of preventing us from filling up the thread with spam, just post 5 rounds worth. And put it in a spoiler block please.

Erin, if you'd like, you can assist Trys by distracting the man with bluff checks or something which will give him a -2 to his checks. I'm sure you can figure out how.
Trys |
Wait, the random NPC commoner has a +3 Strength Mod?! I call shenanigans! I could see +2, maybe. Also, it should probably be two such victories in a row, given the back and forth you usually seen in a good arm wrestling match.
Ready to start crying little man?

If Trys feels she is about to loose, she kicks the guy under the table to attempt to distract him.
Dirty Trick: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
DM Amazing Red |
Well I was assuming as a thug he's a level 1 warrior. So 15 str +2 human. But 2 in a row seems reasonable.
It is a back and forth contest as they struggle for dominance. Even with her words, Trys cannot distract the big man long enough to slam his arm down.
One more set of 5.
Round 6

DM Amazing Red |
And finally her words get to the man and she is able to slam his hand on the table. His friends laugh as they see their buddy lose to a woman. "Well you're strong, I'll give you that. Here's the money. You earned it. Barkeep, let's get some drinks for the warrior princess here!" He calls out.
Trys |
Trys sticks around long enough to finish the offered drink before excusing Erin and herself and leaving the bar.
Upon reaching her room back at the house, Trys organizes her gear to be easily accessible incase she needs to leave in a hurry. She lays her pole arm along the side of the bed next to her and locks the window and door. She pulls the end table near the door and positions a glass on the edge so that it will fall to the floor if the door is opened. Feeling sufficiently secure she loses herself in her memories of this city years ago, and then turns in for the night.
Erin Alegra |
"Very impressive Trys. It is good to know you will be on my side if we get called into action."
Erin comments on the way back to the lodge.
"Wonder what the rest of the crew is up to? There do not seem to be many of them here."
She ponders aloud as they reach the building.
Mayumi Sato |
Mayumi smiles slightly.
"Arm wrestling? How enticing", the young woman says with a nod.
"No, I spent most of the day under a tree with a book and a lovely songbird."
The tian girl laughs softly at Trys's mishandling of the honorific.
"It is 'Sama'. The affix is used to refer to a woman of higher standing than oneself."
Cliff Zelpher |
Cliff manages to catch up with Mayumi, Erin, and Trys.
"Erin, Mayumi, Tris." Clif says to each in turn with a slight nod.
Erin, might I borrow your services for an hour or so? I'd like your help in drawing an accurate drawing of a building that I am interested in."
If Erin says yes, I'd like to take her to the Dockport area to document the building that I failed to do.
Erin Alegra |
"Drawing a building?
Erin asks.
She glances quickly back and forth between Mayumi and Trys, then continues on not giving Cliff a chance to respond.
"I am well versed in the art or making sure contraptions designed to kill Society members no longer work. However I am not very sure how well that will translate into scenic city drawings. I would not mind giving it a try though. What did you have in mind? Irespan? Triodea? Usher's Hall? Or the very manor we are next to?
Yandu |
Yandu walks over to the desk. With his prestidigitation and walking perfectly straight he seems larger as he actually is - rather 3 foot 7 or 8 instead of 3 foot 5.
"Dear Master Krinst - your reputation has reached the far shores of Andoran and Absalom. Please excuse us meeting you on such short notice. But we have been told you seem to be the only person capable in Magnimar to help us.
As you are likely aware - the proud country of Andoran has requested an extension to it's embassy grounds. But alas it seems someone not knowing what to do is delaying the necessary paperwork.
We understand that in a city of law that everything has to follow it's proper path. The right steps have to be followed. But a delay because of misplaced paperwork isn't to be blamed on Andoran.
You have been recommended as the right person who could expedite the whole mess. My apology again to bother you with such a triviality - but I hope you understand that the right protocol needs to be followed and a further delay would be painful for the country of Andoran."
Yandu looks over to Lucia to chime in.
Diplomacy 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Oops - maybe he dislikes Gnomes ...
Cliff Zelpher |
"Venture Captain Ambrus Valsin has tasked me in a letter sent to me yesterday with performing external reconnaissance of a building run by the Aspus Consortium in the Dockway district. I have done some initial sketches of the building, but it is sadly incomplete. I have information that there are secret doors into and out of the building, but I cannot locate them. With your experience in finding and locating secret passages that you might help me find these doors and I could annotate them into my sketches.
Erin Alegra |
After they get back to the manor Erin places the rude sketch on a table and begins to update it reflecting upon what she noticed at the building.
"No wonder we have so much trouble tracking the Aspis, they choose their safehouses well. This wall here..."
She says while pointing to a wall at the rear of the building connecting to an alley.
"...has a well hidden door leading to the alley out back. There was also a mark on the side of the building, right here on the corner..."
She continues, pointing to a corner of the structure.
"...kind of like a coin with a few small markings on it. The markings state that there is an underground passage of sorts that connects to the sewers, leaving a second retreat route. We also know for sure that it is an Aspis building, because they use coins to identify each other in the field."
Erin Alegra |
Erin smiles in thanks to Mayumi and looks back at the map.
"Now, they have an underground route, and a floor level route... They should have one on the roof too. It is not likely though as all the other buildings around it are too short."
She then pauses for a moment lost in thought.
"If they are planning on raiding the place I would suggest getting anyone they want to capture up to the upper floor before going in."
She says pointedly at Cliff.
Erin Alegra |
"I am just speculating. Honestly I do not know what the maps are for. Cliff just asked for my help, and I guess I am going a little overboard. I am going to head outside for some fresh air."
She says while quickly rolling up the map and handing it to Cliff on her way out the door.
Cliff Zelpher |
"Probably depends on the team they send. I admit that most pathfinders would be the type to smash first and ask questions later, but they could send a steath infiltration team instead, even though I hear those are quite rare."
Cliff has a long coughing spree, hacking up some black substance onto his handkerchief. Putting away the handkerchief, Cliff continues.
"Much as I would want to do a raid, my orders are pretty clear in that we are not to raid the building ourselves. I'll forward our Erin's recommendations with my approval to Valsin. I suspect that Venture-Captain Heidmarch will give us plenty to do tomorrow anyways."
DM Amazing Red |
Well I've given Lucia two days. I will expedite this so we can move on.
Lucia and Yandu
Yandu's less than spectacular attempt at negotiations fails to sway the man. So Lucia steps in and explains the need to throw off the yoke of imperialistic oppression and embracing the winds of freedom.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Krinst is so moved by this speech, he says that he will expedite the paperwork as soon as he can. He even goes so far as to cancel the rest of his appointments for the day.

You all arrive back at Bakrakhan house a little before supper. You are all downstairs when Erin hears what seems to be rummaging from the rooms upstairs. She runs upstairs to find a female goblin rifling through her belongings. The she-goblin is holding what seems to be alchemist's fires that used to belong to Erin.
"Eep!" She then takes her ill gotten goods and jumps out of the window to the outside.

Cliff 2
It takes a move action to move through a single square.
When a character exits from a square, he must choose
one of that square’s two obstacles to face as a standard
action before moving to the next square. Instead of exiting
a square, a character can choose to take another action not
directly related to navigating the chase’s course, such as
casting a spell or drawing a weapon.
A character may attempt to move three squares during his turn by taking a full-round action, effectively bypassing the second square and moving straight into the third from his starting position. That character must overcome both obstacles on the square he is leaving. In this case, if
a character fails either obstacle check by 5 or less, he only moves one square forward and his turn ends. If a character fails either obstacle check by more than 5, he cannot move at all that turn. A character unfortunate enough to fail two obstacle checks in a turn becomes mired in his current square. A mired character must spend another full-round
action becoming unmired, effectively losing his next turn. A character can also choose to make a ranged attack or cast a spell during his turn in a chase. If the action is a full-round action, he can’t move at all. Use the number of squares and their established distances (in this case, 30 feet) to determine ranges as necessary. The terrain where
the chase takes place might provide the target partial or even full cover or concealment. A character can only choose to make melee attacks against targets that are in the same square. Any character involved in the chase gains a +2 cumulative bonus on all chase checks for each 10 feet by which her speed exceeds 30 feet, or takes a –2 cumulative penalty for each 10 feet by which it is slower than 30 feet.
To make this work for PBP, I will post where everyone is at and what options they have.
House Upstairs
Erin
You can go downstairs with a move action and no check. You can then move outside with no check. Or you can jump down to the Manor Outer Wall with an acrobatics check or scramble down with a climb check.
House Downstairs
Lucia
Mayumi
Trys
Yandu
Cliff
You can move outside with no check. You can also use another move to get to the Manor Outer Wall with no check. Or you can go upstairs to follow Erin/Ekkie.
Manor Outer Wall
Ekkie
You can squeeze through with an escape artist check or climb over it. You can then move through the Busy Street by shoving people aside with a CMB check or yelling at people to move with an intimidate check.
Mayumi Sato |
"Nani!?"
Using a full round action to advance 3 spaces since Mayumi's room has no obstacles in it.
Mayumi hears the cry of alarm and rushes up the stairs at a startling speed despite her form-fitting kimono.
Catching sight of Erin pointing out the window at the fleeing goblin, the demure tian girl scurries out the window and leaps onto the ground floor alongside the sneaky goblin.
Yandu |
Yandu shouts out
"Don't rush out without being prepared. Wait for me to cast on you to make you faster. My own legs are short - but you can get them. "
If you delay after Yandu then you will have haste casted on you. I can cast it on 5 members of the group. The one out would be either Mayyumi for sprinting ahead or Yandu.
