The NPCs are finally awake. They are surprised and confused.
You look around:
In the bay you see the Jenivire, listing on it's side, hung up on the reef. It's about 400 yards out. At high tide in a few hours it will lift free and sing forever.
Looking inland you see a dense jungle, vast and unexplored.
You feel the rumbling of a volcano somewhere in the distance.
Now what?
Merelinda Falvian |
Merelinda sighs in relief. That could have ended a lot more poorly than it did. Under the circumstances she was very fortunate to have ended up with this group on this land mass. And hey, she had wanted adventure, right? The priestess chuckles, walking along the beach and gathering her belongings.
She finds her studded leather, a suit painted a bright yellow with black horizontal stripes on it. She walks a little ways down the beach (50 yards or so), more for her companions' modesty than her own. She then strips out of her dress and proceeds to put on her armor. She pulls her hair back into a serviceable ponytail of red-brown, then returns to them, grinning. She stuffs her dress into her pack, hefting it over her shoulder."There, that's better! Any of you hurt?"
Captain Albrecht |
Bartimaeus drags his lobster a couple yards away and begins cracking at it with his fangs.
Albrecht digs through the gear until he finds an odd looking saddle and a soggy bedroll.
Vell zis is... somethink uh right, you vill return to normal in just a bit my shirt challenged friend. Hopefully zat wasn't too shockink. Yes uh vat now? And, sank you priestess I am fine as is Bartimaeus.
Rhea Stardust |
I think survival and finding food is boring so...
Having wiped the blood from your blades, found your gear, and allowed Calistra's priestess to heal you up, there is nothing to do but get your bearings: explore. You debate and decide...Will you go up the beach? Or head in to the jungle?
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
Ivar turns to Captain Albrecht and then to Merlinda Falvian,
well that was very invigorating, How long will this last, Captain, it is acceptable to call you Captain isn’t it? And thank you also Priestess.
After he thanks both of them he watches the panther, and then looks out to sea.
that’s not a bad idea, we should probably deal with the ship first
I would like to meet the NPC’s after that would we be able to get to the ship? What type of role do we need to assess being able to get things off of the ship?
Rhea Stardust |
None of them are accounted for. Which means you also have...
option 3, go back to the listing Jenivere and save who/what you can...
Rhea Stardust |
To meet NPCs you need only speak to them! There is:
The guy with the funny hat
the hot girl with the dragon tatoo
The gravely lady with the buckaroo hat
Your choice:)
Merelinda Falvian |
She smiles at both men, dipping her head respectfully. "Your thanks are welcomed, though they belong to Calistria." She peers out to the Jenivere, turning back to her companions.
"Should we check the ship for any other survivors or useful things? When the tide comes in, we won't get a second chance..." She looks out at the ship dubiously...a four hundred yard swim against the gentle breakers washing up the beach was something she likely couldn't accomplish.
Rhea Stardust |
To get to the Jenivere: Group Swim check DC22. Failure means...well you will see.
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
Ivar nods his head listening to Merelinda
You are correct priestess we should check the ship for survivors and equipment but our time is short.
He approaches the three survivors he did not recognize and introduces himself to each of them
lets start with the man
I’m Ivar, strange circumstance have brought us together, we are swimming to the ship to look for survivors, would you join us
diplomacy check to add to someone else’s diplomacy: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Eventual swim check, slinging shield and ax no armor swim: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Captain Albrecht |
Yes, Captain is fine. Zee shpell should end fery soon. Lasts one minute so probably ends sometime during this conversation
Albrecht follows Merelinda's gaze out to the ship.
Vee can't just leave zem out zere, but it is fery far out. Ivar do you sink you could make it?
Edit: two seconds!
Rhea Stardust |
hahaha! Yeah, Ivar gotzee lucky roll!
The man answers Ivar when spoken to. Greetings good sir, I am Gelik Aberwhi. I boarded the Jenivere at Magnimar in something of a rush. A local merchant came to believe that I had sold him a fake Thassilonian relic (a practice that has resulted in my poor standing in the Pathfinder Society). Neverthless, i insist that the artifact is real. He looks out into the bay at the ship. I would pay 100 gp to anyone who could salvage that item before it sinks!
Merelinda Falvian |
"Greetings, ladies! Strange circumstances have put us together, let's pool our resources. I am Merelinda, Priestess of Calistria. Do you know of any other survivors, or any useful equipment on the ship?" She approaches the two women as she speaks, her green eyes lit up with excitement and her personality engaging.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
Ivar chuckle, he had heard of Pathfinders
we will see what we can do
can we have a physical descriptions of the NPC's also
Ivar goes to the lady with the hat.
I’m Ivar, strange circumstance have brought us together, we are swimming to the ship to look for survivors, would you join us
diplomacy check to add to someone else’s diplomacy:: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Captain Albrecht |
Albrecht muses to whoever is still near him.
Vat if vee made some kind of vessel. Zere is not much vee could carry out of zee ship if vee vere svimming anyvay.
He walks a short distance towards the jungle and begins inspecting the sort of trees that are there.
Alot of w's in that one :)
Rhea Stardust |
The women with the buckaroo hat becomes FRIENDLY upon Merelinda's icebreaker. The other one, the one wit hthe dragon tatoo, remains standoffish. But not unapproachable:)
Buckaroo girl: Aerys Mavato, at your service. I boarded the Jenivere at Port Peril, I don't know if anyone survived, priestess. But i will do what i can to help you, Ivar!
You remember this broad form the ship: Having boarded in Port Peril, she immediately got in a fight with one of the ship’s crewmen when he made an ill-advised suggestion that he and Aerys could share bunks. Aerys
soundly humiliated the crewman in the resulting scrap, preventing further trouble during the rest of the voyage but sending the brooding half-elf into a selfimposed isolation in her forward cabin where she spent much of her time half-drunk or passed out, filling the gaps between bouts of work on her secret passion—poetry.
Rhea Stardust |
Ivar, you certainly CAN have physical descriptions! Strait from the AP:
Appearance: Aerys is a trim, athletic
woman with short dark hair, tanned
skin, and fierce blue eyes. She dresses
in tightly fitted leather armor and
favors dark clothing and tricorn hats
Appearance: Gelik is a spry, energetic
gnome with blond hair and a neat goatee.
He dresses like a noble at all times (“If
you can’t take the time to dress properly,
no one will take what you have to say
seriously—and they’d be right not to!”).
With liberal use of prestidigitation, his fine
clothes always seem freshly cleaned. Only the
ink stains on his fingers break the illusion of
a proper gnome nobleman (“If you don’t have
ink stains on your fingers, no one will take your
writing seriously—and they’d be right not to!”).
Appearance: The last women, whom you know is named Sasha: has tousled red
hair and mischievous green eyes, and
is missing the pinky finger of her left
hand. She bears a tattoo between her shoulder blades—
the symbol of the Red Mantis, a “gift” from her mother
before Sasha’s personality made it apparent she could
never belong. Slender and athletic, Sasha never stands
still or stays quiet for long
Merelinda Falvian |
Merelinda is quite taken with Aerys...almost a kindred spirit. "We've technically met, but nice to have you on the island, Aerys!" She giggles, her green eyes merry, before turning to Captain.
"A good suggestion, sir. Or perhaps just some bark or planks or something? Anything that floats should be good enough to get us there, I would think." She shrugs. Swimming had never been one of her talents.
The priestess doesn't let her gaze linger on Sasha's missing finger. She steps closer, leaning in conspiratorially, "Us ladies have to stick together in situations like this. If we let the men take over, we're doomed!" She winks at the woman, grinning widely.
Bayani Nishou |
Bayani is a little awkward around the people he doesn't know, and spends his time looking around for other gear or items that may have come off the ship.
If I want to go with Ivar, would I need to make a DC 22 check or be able to aid another to bring his total above 22? I'm a little confused by that.
Swim Aid Another if the second is the case: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
When Ivar takes off his armor and swims out, Bayani is right behind him, stripped down to his skivvies and gamely following the big human.
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
Ivar turns to Merelinda and the captain
remember we only have till the tide and then she will be washed to deeper water, if need be I will swim alone and salvage what I can
Ivar approaches the last woman, remembering her name is Sasha
Well met Sasha, I am pleased to see you have survived, would you care to join us and swim out to the ship and see what we can salvage?
diplomacy roll to add to Merelinda’s diplomacy: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
so is an appropriate nick name "Sasha nine-fingers" bwa ha ha
Rhea Stardust |
Sasha responds to Merelinda with a knowing smile.
Bayani you are correct: the GROUP roll must must just tick over the DC. Then you ALL succeed. Assuming you RP the whole situation! Which you did. I just set this DC too low, curses!
Rhea Stardust |
Sasha considers Ivar's suggestion. You and Merelinda's diplo checks make her friendly. She is more adventurous than the others. Yes, a dip in the tropical bay sounds good to me. Let's get what we can from the ship. She strips off her heavy belt, revealing a perfect hourglass figure. Sasha Swim aid another: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23 Come, let's go! Remember to duck under the bigger waves instead of trying to swim over them!
Tusara Khione |
Tusara watches the goings all with a vague sense of curiosity as she watched her fellow passengers take charge of the situation. Unwilling to ruin an established rapport, Tusara glances towards the jungle, intelligent enough to know that t was entirely possible that there could be dangers within, but inexperienced enough with jungle terrain that she was willing to explore. At a loss, she sits with her legs folded underneath her on the beach, still looking rather incongruous in her fine clothes, before playing with the sand, gradually building up a castle with her hands.
Man, what are the chances of there being three sexually attractive and available women all shipwrecked on the same island!
Merelinda Falvian |
The priestess arches her red-hued brow, sly smile on her face as the elf strips down, following the large man out to the shore. She turns back to the ladies, again shrugging. "I can't very well let those two go by themselves. Between the two of them they might remember to come back, let alone check things out." She chuckles, waving at the two ladies before finding a piece of wood or something similar, using it to slip into the sea and follow the men out to the wreckage of the Jenivere.
She spies the lovely spellcaster on her way, wordlessly beckoning her to follow as she smiles at the woman.
Four...seems like a dream come true for our companions.
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
Ivar leaves his breastplate, helmet and rucksack, on the beach, strapping on his shield and ax, he goes to the edge of the water, turning and asks
who is swimming out? If some work on a raft we may be able to use it for the second trip. Remember we only have a four hour window. So who will swim with Sasha, Aerys, Merelinda and I
he turns to Sasha
you lead out, and I will bring up the rear and help the stragglers
Need to make sure I get a count, and not loose anyone, wouldn't be good to get one of these lubbers drowned
Ivar waits a moment to see who is swimming out
Rhea Stardust |
The sand runs through Tusara's fingers a few times. Until on one pass digging her fingers in, she feels something lumpy and hard, about the size of a softball, buried under the sand.
Captain Albrecht |
Albrecht turns around to see the people striking out towards the ship. He turns to Gelik and waves his hand generally at the sea.
Tall people, zee blood must hafe trouble gettink to zeir brains I sink.
He grabs his own piece of floatable object before whistling and waving at Bartimaeus. They follow the others, Albrecht mostly towed by the panther.
So many posts!
Albrecht Swim: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (16) - 2 = 14
Bartimaeus Swim: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
I vill stay and vork on zee raft
Dream come true for companions? The ladies are shipwrecked on an island with the world's most dashing panther cavalry captain.
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
Sasha considers Ivar's suggestion. You and Merelinda's diplo checks make her friendly. She is more adventurous than the others. Yes, a dip in the tropical bay sounds good to me. Let's get what we can from the ship. She strips off her heavy belt, revealing a perfect hourglass figure. [dice=Sasha Swim aid another]1d20+6 Come, let's go! Remember to duck under the bigger waves instead of trying to swim over them!
Bayani Nishou |
Bayani has his two daggers (assuming he was able to retrieve the one he threw earlier) tucked into the waistband of his smallclothes.
In contrast to his earlier awkwardness, he doesn't seem at all bothered or shy regarding nudity or near-nudity among those swimming out to the ship.
"Bring a dagger or something at least, even if you have nothing to tuck it into," he suggests. "Don't pirates hold them in their teeth or something?"
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
Ivar chuckles when he hears Bayani speak of pirates, and he answers smiling
I don't know if they do or not, you should ask Julian, though he seems to carry them where ever he can. I can carry extra items if need be, as long as they are on a strap or I can tuck them in my belt.
Ivar, with those preparing to swim, wait a little longer for everyone to decided if they are swimming or staying on the beach. As Ivar waits he asks those near by
does anyone remember how we got on the beach? We may have been lucky and washed up, there's no way our gear would have washed up in three neat piles though, so did someone drop it off? Does anyone remember?
Ivar contemplates while they wait
did someone help us, or did they maroon us, we need to find out so we can make a plan
Bayani Nishou |
Addendum: Bayani also has his chakrams with him.

Merelinda Falvian |
Did Sasha just remove her belt, or her clothing?
Merelinda leaves her shield, but brings her whip and dagger as she slowly swims out to the wreck with the help of a buoyant object she found. She moves over, allowing the sorceress room to grab onto the object, as well.
As they swim, she looks over at the woman. "So what's all this about, do you think?"
Mobutu Sese Seko |
Mobutu stands triumphant over the lobster. He looks around only to find he is alone. He moves along, deciding silently to go back the the Jenevieve's wreckage with the others. He dives in the water and swims along. He switches to a backstroke with a little difficulty, saying "Its been a long time since I've done this." as he stares up at the sky.
Swim: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Julian "Knives" Veartoll |
Julian finally finds his cane sword, his backpack full of belongings, his net, and strangely enough the dagger he threw at the woman (complete with the board fragment it was lodged in) and retrieves the thrown dagger from the scorpiber's body. Both thrown daggers quickly go back into the wrist sleeves and the third that he stabbed with goes back into the bandolier slot it was removed from.
Seeing his companions heading back to the ship, he joins them in swimming out, leaving his backpack (but not the lock picks) but nothing else as he straps the net around his waist and ties the cane sword to it.
"Wait up lads, don't you be forgetting me just because I took a bit longer to find my cane!"
Tempted to take a 10 given my racial... and given that would make my check at 19... but I am a sucker for rolling dice, even though it bites me a lot of the time.
Swim: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13 ... like now for instance....
Rhea Stardust |
When Tusara pulls the object from the sand she is suprised to see: A Creepy little Jade Figurine, shaped like a monkey.
EDIT: haha, can you smell that? It's FORESHADOW baby!
Captain Albrecht |
Albrecht stands with hands on hips, surveying the jungle with a critical eye, confidence exudes from ever pore.
How do rafts work?
While turning in his survey he notices that all the passengers and crew that helped in the fight were in the ocean, along with the woman with the odd tattoo.
B!@++@!s
Turning to the woman with the hat. She is still here right?
Ah Miss might you know somezink about buildink a raft?
Diplomacy : 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Rhea Stardust |
Did Sasha just remove her belt, or her clothing?
Just her belt. For now.
Turning to the woman with the hat. She is still here right?
Aerys attitute moves one step better, to INDIFFERENT. She answers Captain Albrecht I do not build things. I'm more concerned that there might not be any Alcohol on this Island. she shouts to those swimming out to the ship. Hey you all! Check the Captain's aft cabin for a bottle of Rum! We may need it. For, you know, healing wounds or something...
Julian "Knives" Veartoll |
For the sake of completeness, Tusara is also in the water, I'll roleplay it when I get a sec, just got offered a new job so very excited
Congrats! Hope its a good one and that you enjoy it!
Julian struggles initially with the waves, and his gear. "You want rum, lassie, you best be gettin' ta swimmin'! I find any n' y'll know the answer to ta question o' why the rum always be gone!"
So saying he swims with renewed vigor toward the shipwreck.
For his second round in the water he will just take the 10 for a total of 19 on the check... would hate to drown by accident.
Merelinda Falvian |
Congratulations!
Merelinda listens to the lush request the rum with a roll of her eyes, smirking at Tusara as they paddle out to the ship. She laughs at Julian's retort, going to the point of looking back to see the woman's response to it.
She secretly wishes they don't find any rum or alcohol of any kind, as they all likely needed to keep a level head in this situation. While she was having a fairly good time now, she had to keep reminding herself of the gravity of the situation.
Mobutu Sese Seko |
"I woke dreaming of a wasp woman who became a snake. And now I am swimming in the ocean." says Mobutu, still backstroking absent-mindedly. "The waters off the coast of Cheliax are cold and dirty. But look, I can see down to the bottom!"
He turns around and submerges his face. When he comes back up, it seems the reality of the situation finally dawns on him. "If we can not revive the Jenivere, how will we continue on our journey?"
