SLITHERBONES pulls out a vial and quaffs it down.
So many questions. But the important one is AoO yes?
Bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Darn
Bayani Nishou |
Presumably actually an ILW to cure an undead...
Bayani circles around the combat, readying his bow in one hand as he does so, and throws his second chakram at the creature.
Attack with pbs: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 1 = 14
Damn, all those high rolls before, balanced out by low rolls now.
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
did I hear someone say AoO? can I use the one I crossed out or will we just use this one?
battleaxe using weapons versatility for bludgeoning attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26 for damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
as the skeleton drinks from a vial, his defense drops enough for Ivar to attack again
Rhea Stardust |
A 5-foot step does not provoke. Says so in the combat rules. However, Bayani is right! It must have been a potion of ILW. Wierd, huh?
IVAR CRUSHES THE MONSTER WITH HIS ROUND 4 SWING.
END COMBAT.
It's hard for you to be sure but you feel mabe the entire cavern system has illuminated, just slightly. Mabe even you hear a slight sound of angelic singing in your mind. You have cleansed the temple of ydersius.
Rhea Stardust |
Gah! You are right! Absolutely right.
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
Ivar searches the remains, picking up the sword he tucks it in his belt and then spitting on the bones says
I’m developing a strong dislike for snakes, shall we continue?
He leads the team north and then north-west
towrd A26
Merelinda Falvian |
Merelinda gives the bones a little kick before following the Ulfen, feeling a sense of accomplishment in cleansing this blight from Golarion. Now, it was time to get some rest, and maybe enjoy a little time with the sorceress.

V26. SEA CAVE
A cavern ledge leads down to a small sandy beach in this large cave, the majority of which is taken up by a sloshing pool of seawater.
several submerged tunnels here lead out to the sea. It's a DC25 swim check to get through.

MAP UPDATED.
Tusara Khione |
Knowledge Nature: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
"We should take an opportunity to rest, the sea will get calmer by the time we walk up, thus, swimming out would be much easier."
Captain Albrecht |
Knowledge Nature: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
It looks like zee tide is up, zee svim vould be much shorter if vee vaited a few hours.
Zere are ninjas in zis cavern and vee should be vary.
Albrecht also casts detect magic and looks at the spear, sword and body.
Bayani Nishou |
Bayani retrieves his Chakrams, and returns to the chamber where they killed the ghoul matron to get the other two. He also explores the corner they didn't get to go into due to the darkness spell.
I took the liberty of moving the black rectangle covering V28, which is where Bayani is heading. Of course, he has a chakram out, and his rapier.
Rhea Stardust |
Exploring the rest of these caves goes like this. Feel free to RP it:)
The walls of this small cave are covered with carvings of snakes and skeletons.A hideous mound of bones and dripping seaweed forms what can only be a nest in the middle of the room. Reach inside the nest? Roll a DC20 perception check. If you succeed immediatly read Q. If you fail, read R instead!
Captain Albrecht |
Albrecht digs about in Slitherbone's pockets.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Do I atleast know its sharp?
Holding up the dagger, I found zis snakey-dagger. It is magic but I'm not sure vat it does.
Bayani Nishou |
Bayani would have checked the body first, and used detect magic.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10 "Hmm, nice staff. No idea what it does, though."
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
"Hmm, what's this... ARRGH!"
Bayani gets sprayed with the foul liquid as the ghoul cyst bursts open.
"Oh gods... that was foul. I don't think that was a good thing... Miss Merelinda, could you check me out to make sure I didn't catch anything from that when we get back to camp?"
Rhea Stardust |
Haha, Bayani I salute your non-meta gaming style. Super awesome. Bravo!
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
for accounting purposes, we found a +1 dagger and a staff of darkess, the skeleton had a long sword and spear, are these rusted or usable?
as they finish exploring the cave network
sailor: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
what does Tusara think she knows about the sea
Are we going to rest hear and swim or are we going back to the transporter and the rope? If it were my choice I would rest at the ziggurat and come back tomorrow to explore the ocean side.
looking at the team, Ivar suddenly remembers
Oh, and is any one interested in helping me gather the coins out of the pool? Now that the threat of ghouls is gone it looks like easy money and the only real treasure down here
Ivar gots ta get paid!
Tusara Khione |

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Oops, didn't see that Bayani triggered the trap, but I do think I get a Spellcraft off both the staff and the dagger.
Merelinda Falvian |
Merelinda shakes her head at Ivar, not interested in gathering coins they can not spend at the moment. She gives the magic blade a wary glance, the shape and build just like the one in her dream. In her mind, she sees the blade screaming down toward her chest, and shudders.
She waves Bayani over, reaching into her pack for her healer's kit. She proceeds to clean up the area where the pestilence landed, trying to keep the disease from the elf.
Heal: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
Bayani Nishou |
I'll go ahead and make my Fort save now, although I think it would be a day before the disease would have any effects. Do I need to make another if this one is successful?
Fort save: 1d20 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 3 + 4 = 26
Bayani thanks Merelinda warmly as she cleans off his face, neck, and the spots on his chest where the foulness impacted.
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
as they exit the caves Ivar picks up the spear from the skeleton. Since no one appears to be interested in the coins in the pond Ivar ignores them also. He then holds the rope for everyone to climb up.
after you ladies and gentlemen
Rhea Stardust |
You climb up and exit room at the top of the temple and are surprised by what you see. Night has fallen. The NPCs and the Ape clan have set up a wonderful camp here atop the temple! Tiki torches light the area, ad as you emerge there is a cheer from the monkey clans Huzaah! Huray for the man-apes, purifiers of the evil below! Zamoozi is here and he shakes each of your hands. Come, he says come, I have brought friends! He begins to lead you around to the various apes groups and activities. This is a massive celebration.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Gelik sits on a stone block surrounded by baby apes. He is telling them stories.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Sasha stands off to the side surrounded by three large warrior apes. She runs her thumb along her dagger and the apes are nodding. She must be explaining the finer points of modern metallurgy to them.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Under a purple pavilion Aerys has set up a sort of Tiki lounge. A giant bubbling albrect made of jungle gourdes brews coconut ale and female apes with katapeshi-style veils. They eyeball you all lust-fully.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
A monkey king of some type has set up a thrown here, his seat decorated with peacock feathers and a headdress of great hieght. He nods at you each as you look at him.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Other monkeys gamble on games of dice. They invite you to join with big monkey grins.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
What do you do?
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
OK, seriously this time :)
As Ivar climbs the rope he hears strange monkey sounds
Oh Gods, they’ve returned in force and are torturing our shipmates
Ivar climbs faster it was a “take 10” climb skill check but he turns it up to “11”
When he gets to the top, as he springs out of the hole to save whoever is left, he stops and looks around, not believing what his eyes are telling him. He looks toward the still and the pickled Aerys
perception: 1d20 ⇒ 2
I need a drink.
Ivar accepts a large gourd of coconut ale, nursing the beverage instead of guzzling it. He’s been told he’s a mean drunk. He takes a seat in the shadows, the other side of the still; and watches the party, not comfortable with being this friendly when having just been willing to end their existence.
Merelinda Falvian |
Performance (untrained): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Knowledge: 1d20 ⇒ 10
Charisma: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Having no idea what story Gelik is talking about, the priestess only shrugs helplessly and leave the small man to his fate.
Of much more interest to her is the tattooed woman, who is giving these now-friendly apes a lesson on modern metal-working. Merelinda crosses her arms, and whenever the woman looks her way she gives her an enticing smile, listening in for a while before going to check on the newly-created cabana.
The lust of a half-elf has been busy creating a comfortable little resort here, and at the moment the priestess is quite thankful. She gladly accepts a coconut drink and relaxes, smiling in thanks to Aerys as she sips at it, feeling the tension slowly drain away.
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
After drinking most of the large gourds contents; Ivar begins to relax. Since no one appears to be dancing; Ivar goes to the dice...dirt circle... and ask if he can join the game. Specifically; he strolls (well more stumbles) over to the game; slurps his coconut beverage, smacking his lips and then licking them off (managing to push the froth into his beard); points at the dice with the gourd cup (sloshing contents onto the ground) and with his other hand motions for the dice and says
Sss good, Let mmmeee, roll them bones whys don't cha
as the lead gambler monkey says "Play? Yes, we play dice. Human can play. What human bet?" Ivar flops down near the circle and pulls out the longsword from the cave and says
Hows about ole' crunchy bones lizardy snakeface's sword itself. Is's got powerful Jue Jue
smiling at the brilliance of his fabrication he sets the sword in the circle
bluff skill check: +1 for charisma -4 for drunk. If he's drunk enough to dance he's drunk enough to need a -4 on the bluff check :)
bluff: 1d20 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (8) + 1 - 4 = 5
FYI, the bluff was so they would believe the sword had Jue Jue, not that he was willing to gamble. If he's drunk enough to dance he's drunk enough to gamble :)
Bayani Nishou |
Bayani decides to go right up to the monkey king.
"Greetings. I apologize for the violence earlier -- we thought you were our enemies because of the attacks on someone we thought was our friend, but turned out to be a serpent in disguise. What is this place you have here?"
diplomacy: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 10
Rhea Stardust |
Ivar the monkeys match your bet with a cool bamboo war axe with obsidian head. The arbitor monkey explains the game. It's simple, like the monkeys who play it: The roll is 1d100. 1-45 monkeys win, 55-100 humaaan win. 46-54, me the arbitor take both side's bets. You still play?
The monkey king answers Bayani with an answer that is an answer I don't have time to type just yet!
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
Ivar crosses his eyes and uncrosses them
sho kay arbitrator 55 and ups I win, butts I getsh ta role
Ivar smiles, shakes the dice in his fist and blows on them, letting them fly into the circle
1d100 ⇒ 26
Ivar frowns crossing his eyes and uncrossing them again: he pulls the spear out and puts it in the circle
Letsh go again, I thinksh that axsh is awshume
he picks up the dice and blowing on them again lets them role
1d100 ⇒ 68
ivar smiles and picks up the axe and the spear,
shore wasch fun boysh, I traded a borring shword for a cool monkey make axsh how great ish that
Ivar gets up to go look for his good buddy Zamoozi to show him his cool new axe.
Rhea Stardust |
The Monkey king answers Bayani Monkeys die defending temple. War is confusing, sometimes monkeys die. War against undead below temple gone on for ages. But now something new has come. Something terrible. The king motions up the steps to the very tip top pinnacle of the temple, where several monkey mages are peering off into the night toward the east and pointing.[/b]
Take as much down time as you like. Monkeys can buy and sell stuff, role play, or do whatever. Once you go up the steps together and reach the top the AP plot continues:)
Merelinda Falvian |
"So, Aerys, I see you've finally taken a little initiative with something..." Merelinda says dryly, indicating the copious amounts of alcohol. The priestess certainly wasn't opposed to everyone relaxing, and it might open up a couple of her more...shy companions. However, drunks made poor decision-makers, and on a mystery island full of ape protagonists and snake-person antagonists, they needed to have a semblance of wisdom.
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
When Ivar sees Bayani and Tusara heading to the top of the Ziggurat with the king monkey he stops looking for Zamoozi and toddles after them, placing his arm around Bayani he squeezes the elfs shoulder and says.
Hey buddy Bayani buddy whersh ya headed ? Ya chakram chuckersh
Ivar turns to Tusara smiling as he repeats his new phrase
He’sh a chakram chuckersh…chakram chucker, not like yous; yous chuck rainbows and ishe shickles and shtuff
He then, with great gusto, slaps her on the back. After his pleasant greetings toward his fellow team mates he follows behind them, trying not to lose his balance as they climb to the top.
Merelinda Falvian |
Not really interested in the lush's reply, she spies her companions heading towards the top of the ziggurat, and follows. Her eyebrow arches at the seemingly inebriated Ulfen's behavior, but she shrugs it off, the coconut drink having done wonders for her nerves.
Rhea Stardust |
At the top you meet two monkey mages. They seem startled at your approach.
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
by "top" are we back on top of the ziggurat where the alter is or elsewhere? and will the king monolog for us or do we need to start asking questions?
Rhea Stardust |
There is a roof over the room with the alter. Where the ancient stargazers used to set up their complex instruments of observation. It is here that them monkey mages stand.
There will be a monologue I guess. Or you can role play it out of them. Which do you prefer, Ivaaaar!? haha!
Merelinda Falvian |
Merelinda gets to the top with Ivar & Tusara. Seeing the monkey mages and star-gazing equipment, she quickly does an about face and shimmies back down the ziggurat to the monkey and a few humanoids party. She gazes about for something to catch her interest...
She walks up to the more adventurous of their fellow castaways, the tattooed woman Sasha. "Those are some intricate tattoos you have there. Where'd they come from, if you don't mind me asking?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
As Merelinda leaves the heights, Ivar looks around the rooftop of the ziggurat, he nods to the mystical monkeys there. Then he asks the king monkey, trying to sober up.
you shaid shomething new hash come. Shomething terrible. Would you care to elabornate?
Tusara Khione |
Tusara rolls her eyes at the drunk Viking. "What my friend is trying to say is that my friends and I assisted in the removal of the undead threat, and could be happy to eliminate this new threat if you could share the information you possess on it with us"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
Rhea Stardust |
Sasha answers Merelinda: Those are the marks of my clan, the Red Mantis. Though I'm a little bit out of their graces at the moment. Life throws curve balls... Sasha's had a coconut ale or two and seems amicable. You are a priestess of Calistria? Come now, surely you must know by now that the pleasures promised in her holy texts do not really exist!? Wouldn't a women as beautiful as you have experienced them by now?
The monkey king points east into the night. You look that way. On this clear tropical night the stars shine bright. And the moon is full in the heavens, it's red moonscar, like an open wound, painting the moonlight it casts in a slightly red hue. But over yonder on the eastern edge of the island a massive thunderhead is forming, seemingly out of nothing. Lightening arcs within it, though none has zapped down to the ground yet.
King Monkey: The big stones. Evil magic grows there. It bodes badly.
Merelinda Falvian |
"The Red Mantis!? Out of their graces and still drawing breath...you are a remarkable woman." She grins at the other woman.
"The pleasure as she knows it is something we as mortals can never hope to match. It doesn't mean that we shouldn't try...there are some things that are quite tantalizing to the flesh, yes?" She studies the intricate tattoos for a few moments, her green eyes following their sinuous pattern before meeting the other woman's eyes with a slowly-rising smile.
