imma take that as the background is good to go and finish fleshing out the rest of the char. this should be fun lol

bignumbers...I would love to have you in if you have a concept that works with the party. You have same requirements as everyone else to get in.
I wont play favorites if I can avoid it.
With that said ... you have always brought a cool flair to our RL games

@ALL I have someone who has expressed interest in a cleric for the gorup. I referred him to the pbp thread and told him to see if he is interested with the group we have going so far.HE also has no guarantee of a spot but did express interest.

The Exchange

I would be glad to see a party healer. I'd settle for a paladin or even flame oracle.

What are you expecting for stuff that works with the party? I am used to just making whatever I want to play and using it in a way that benefits the group. If you mean filling an unfulfilled healer/tank/dps role than I would have to consider the options.

Discuss with the other players what is needed. Look at their backgrounds and strengths and find away to help make the party strong.
Also as a what works for the party....part of why i have left the recruitment open for a while is that I am looking at how well you all work together and help each other. The team play is just as important in roleplay as anything else.

As for what you play...that is completely up to you.

Well, it would appear that there is not much in the way of magic users, though I don't quite want to go full casting class for a PBP. I am thinking possibly a hex magus. Though druid sorta falls within that same category as well.

GM I have had a good think about this and I think im going to change my PCS class to bard. It has a better fit and gives the group a second healer.

Still here! Ghorum should be finished later today.

that works as well. I have never Gm'd a bard so that would be a learning opp for me as well.

That works great since a trait I took for Ghorum gives him a damage bonus while under a morale bonus!

He'll most likely be humming along with Miya as he slices and dices...

Okay, so initial character concept:

Faagaki Heitoka (Fa-ang-aki): An undine cleric of unity (Domains: Community(Home) and Protection). Grew up in a small tribe of Undine who within the last generation had begun to settle in the Weiter Duus Islands (I couldn't read the map very well, but they're the ones in the middle of the Mie'r Sea). As Faagaki was growing up word about the settlement spread and there began to be a small influx of people. Only one or two families a year, but it was not long before the settlement started to become a village, with many different races and people.

As Faagaki was getting to adulthood it was getting time to start having a larger governing body. Faagaki started working with the magistrates and even became an apprentice, making peace and settling disputes, ultimately turning the island into a home. But as the village grew, so did the desire of outside tribes. Eventually his home was destroyed by a raiding party. He led the refugees away, to try to find a place of safety . . .

After that, kind of looking to see where we're atarting to complete his background. This is the preliminary background stuff. If it works for the group, I've got a lot more that I can add to expand on it. Let me know what you think. I know some of you were talking about meeting near the mithril mountains. It's possible that I could get there as well. I could have taken my people to that town for refuge then joined the group . . . ?

Druid:

Heimdallr, a Tiefling saurian shaman, was born of circumstances that nobody in his village were fully aware of. His mother was a recluse and no one could identify who the father was. Even stranger still was his mothers disappearance shortly after his birth. The village soon discovered her absence when they found Heimdallr abandoned in his home. Realizing that not all was right when they saw the small undeveloped horns they felt a mix of pity and disgust at what they saw before them. After a great discussion as to what would become of the child a kobold who felt the child would grow up in a hostile environment if he stayed within the town took it upon herself to give the child the opportunity to have a loving upbringing. The little herbalist, being very familiar with the rune fated forest as her gathering ground for components, knew of a group of druids who would raise the little one without care for past circumstances. So she took Heimdallr to them and they raised him as their own. He flourished in the new environment he was placed and upon reaching full maturity was come over with the wanderlust, a strong desire to explore the world beyond his own forest.

My druid concept is one that is primarily melee and magic secondary, which we already seem to have enough of. Alternately, I remembered one of my character concepts I had a while ago that I discussed with our GM, the good aligned lich. The group completely lacks a full caster class, and appears to need one, and I would be eager to play this if allowed.

Magnus was known as being one of the most talented sorcerers of his time. Seemingly against all typical convention, there was no real trace of magic in his lineage. This did not seem to bother Magnus as he soon became known as one of the most talented sorcerers for his age, and thought to have the potential for true greatness within him. His instructors at the academy of magic convened with the Azlanti house of lords to discuss a new addition to the guardians of the Azlanti throne, and parliament known as the color guard. The color guard was a group of individuals in a position of great honor among the Azlanti who were charged with the defense of the seat of power of the Azlanti people against all who would try to harm it. The ritual required to become a color guard was long arduous affair wrought with significant risk for the one undergoing the transformation. When Magnus was invited to join the color guard he was thrilled at the prospect of serving his nation in a position so well regarded and jumped at the opportunity. Magnus survived the transformation and went on to serve the Azlanti empire until the day the continent was torn apart in a massive earthquake and lost to the sea. Magnus, who was in the capitol at the time, and the capitol itself being on the coast, was sent to the bottom of the ocean as well. (The official story is that the Aboleths did it, but the whole idea that an evil entity would create a human civilization to me is utter b@#+&+&~. So I say that the Aboleth story is a fairytale and that it was lost to geological forces.) Having lost his beloved empire, and with no greater cause to guide him. Magnus wandered the land aimlessly for what seemed like ages, lost in despair at the fall of Azlant. This despair came to an end when he came upon an upstart civilization that recognized his color guard uniform. A group of people gathered around excitedly at the sight of someone from the old empire of Azlant. Magnus soon discovered that the people before him were descendents of the survivors and Azlant, and that there were people like these all across the world as they scattered from the lost continent. Finding renewed hope that the old empire of Azlant was not truly lost, Magnus dedicated himself to defending the inheritors of the fallen empire of Azlant and to one day see the descendents of Azlant united in the old empire reborn.

So, since it will inevitably come up. My thoughts on changes to the lich template to make it thematically appropriate.

1. Color guard represent law and the forces that stand against evil. As such, the touch attack instead channels holy energy. (negative energy replaced by good, so heals good aligned and harms evil aligned. kinda like lay on hands.)

2. The Color guard scatter evil before them and any evil being who looks upon them is filled with fear at their presence. (fear aura only affects evil aligned.)

3. Paralyzing touch. replace with smite evil, progresses same as it would for a paladin.

Changed back story to fit world better and class, also added a over seer to keep her out of trouble, (think Molan)

I was had a quick question for you (This is DM Ben)
One of the concepts I had of this guy, is that he does most of his fighting with chakram, because it's an ancestral weapon for his clan. I can take the feat if necessary, but I was hoping that I might be able to get proficiency in that for free. My reasoning:
1. Cleric's normally get proficiency in deities favored weapon.
2. Only one deity in this world, with no favorite weapon.
3. Part of Faagaki's background is a major respect of ancestry, almost to the point of worship.
4. Like I said above it's an ancestral weapon for his clan.

If this doesn't work for you, I'll gladly take the feat, cause this is a major part of how I've conceptualized Faagaki. Let me know either way.

Either way, should have him done soon. Still working on filling in the details of his background, but it's coming along well.

Okay, all done and ready for approval.

Miya Setsuko Fuyaki wrote:

I like the idea of the overseer. Would you be objectinable if I played it as a NPC to add some flair to the story?

Druid would work better big numbers.

I would like group feed back on Faagaki and bignumbers please.

The rest are looking good. 1 more week til I make a final decision on players.. If we have a good group of 6 or 8 I would be ammendable to the whole group if we all work well as a group.

I have lots of ideas and lots more things to try and I really am looking forward to the positive I have seen so far from you all.

Not at with Kodo, I was thinking MPC thats why I did not do the stats.
Hes kind of there to stop her getting into to much trouble etc would be dull if he just did what she says.

It was kodo that i was referring to. I think it would give us both some chuckles to play it as NPC.

If you spent gold on obtaining one, take the cost back.

Faagaki looks pretty good, and the backstory seems to fit well with the campaign theme. He'll be a good support character, with ranged attacks and spells to heal and buff as time goes on.

I also like the idea of one of the party acting as the "voice of reason"...may help keep Ghorum's violent impulses under control. :-)

lol that is kinda what i was thinking as well. I know the guy as well as bignumbers in RL and both are more than competent players.
I however want the group to be coherent thus I will have final say but will seriously take feedback into consideration for each character.

Thus said...I would like information and feedback from you all on the possible characters proposed so far.

So I have updated several things in the campaign information tab.

Just more information to help familiarize yourselves with the world you live in. I intend to make this world in such a way that you are "willing to suspend your disbelief" and allow your self to imagine and picture it as a real place.
I feel that if you all are giving me back stories to ground your character in the world that I had better give you a world in which you feel familiar enough with to make your character at home.

Alright, I think Ghorum is done. His background is still a little rough, but ties in with Jim. I will think on some more details, and add them when I can.

Thanks again for the opportunity.

Read it thanks

Nice. I'll have to update with Jim's side of the story...

I can adjust it where I need to if you have another idea. Just sayin'!

I'm looking forward to seeing how this comedy team will play out... :-)

So far it looks like we have

    [*}jim - fighter
    [*}Ghorum - ranger
    [*}miya - bard
    [*}Faagaki - cleric
    [*}Tesse - alchemist
    [*}big#'s heimdallr - druid
    [*}Kirsteen - ranger

Makes for a very heavy skill and combat based group.
Decent healing.
Shy on arcane magic but not terribly uncommon of a group for the is setting
So far I see a good group developing.

The Exchange

I updated with a rather lengthy account from Jim's side of the tale. Feel free to object as necessary.

I guess that means no to my sorcerer idea?

dont think the sorcerer would be very easy on a pbp and would take more effort on my part. Also there is the concern of it being a new template or adjustment which then makes the balance come into play and need to be tested. So I would say no on the Lich thing for now.

I opened the profile of Jim and can't see the additions. Only thing there is the same stuff previously there. Did it some how not get posted or saved?

It's under the "background" spoiler. A new paragraph smack in the middle. Mostly for Ghorum's approval.

love it

Seconded! Very nicely done. This is going to be fun...

Dang, I was all excited about it for a while. Rune fated druid should be good too though. But I need the stats for dark side rune fated before I can begin to make a character.

KK I will post the information for the template (homebrewed) runefated. It will be a bit though these next few are my days off so I am spending time with Wife and kid before my other kid gets here and life gets crazy.

More Information in Campaign Tab.

If it's unchanged from before, I believe I have the template. I could post up details to get it started, and you could edit them if I got anything wrong. If that's okay with you.

Nevermind, I don't have a copy of the template.

If you can, I would also like to see a copy of the spires template. I have no idea what it is like but I may want to use it instead if it really catches my fancy.

Sorry spires is not available. After relooking at several things in the world I decided to use the Spire template for NPC adversaries only. I like the feel and definition it gives to the danger of the spires.

bunp

finishing up crunch. Had random surprise visit from parents this weekend. (they really put a cramp in some things lol)

hopefully it was a good visit. sometimes they aint so great. Glad to have ya check back in.

Give me some feedback about Faagaki Heotika and bignumbers/kharns proported druid.

I like both of them. The cleric brings healing in the way of being able to heal at will. and druids are good for the utility spells they have.

The Exchange

I've already made my position known in the general (we need a party healer), but as for specifics, I don't care too much.

A healer for this group will be quite useful. Other than that I'm of the mind to let folks play what they want, letting the chips fall where they may.

So it a green light and we are off, seems with have 2 cleric pcs that I can see.

so let me see if this is correct so far

Miya bard
Ghorum ranger
Dkal - fighter
Big# - druid
Faaki - cleric
tess - alchemist
Kirsteen - ranger --anyone heard from her??

Looks right. And no, Kirsteen hasn't posted for some time.

can we all go over to Game play GM then and start :)
