Hi, its about four months until the big show.

I am thinking of running a mini adventure set in the Timeline of the Original Trilogy, using Star Wars West End Games D6.

Any interest? I think the game would run in under 5 months if we all post several times a week.

If there is interest I'll start up a game thread by Wednesday.

Requirements

Spoiler:

1. YOU HAVE TO LOVE STAR WARS!

1.A. YOU HAVE TO LOVE STAR WARS!

2. You have to have some knowledge of the Original Trilogy, enough to get by in a STAR WARS game.

3. You need to have a sense of humor, and be able to banter.

Example.

Han: How're we doing?

Luke: Same as always.

Han: That bad huh?

May The Force Be With You.

I call y-wing pilot!

Darn it Freehold , you beat me to it !!

Count me interested!

Always two there are.

HA!

But no really, I want a y wing that has the turret modified to fire on incoming ships and enemy torpedos.

Best starfighter/bomber ever.

I've been trying to get into play-by-post, and I always enjoyed the west-end system. I'm sure I've still got that core rulebook somewhere...

I am definitely interested! I am not set on any particular character type, and can fill in as necessary once everyone else has chosen something.

Which means I'll be stuck playing the Ewok medic.

Again.

It has been forever since I ran Star Wars, I would love to play. Perhaps I will be a Jedi if that's ok.

Scarab Sages

Very very very interested.

I think we are at six interested players?

I'll leave this open for another 24 hour period.

In the meantime, please share a fun fact from Star Wars you think will be new for other Star Wars fans here. Or tell us a favorite Star Wars story from your childhood, or how you were first introduced to the Original Star Wars Trilogy.

I'll start.

Mark Hamil at 63 is currently the same age Sir Alec Guinness was when he first appeared as Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Considering the scenario we are playing I don't think this would be a bad choice entirely.

I'm worried that if everyone fulfills criteria 1 and 1A, it might be tough to come up with trivia they don't already know!

But I'll give it a go. Miss Piggy had a cameo in Luke's Dagobah scenes. It never made it to the movie, of course - it was a Frank Oz practical joke.

Who does not want to be a Jedi?

Alas Luke is the last of the Jedi (or the first of the new Jedi) for now at least in this mini adventure. You can play a Force Sensitive if you would like, but a Jedi, a minor one or otherwise with actual Force Powers is not one of the offered classes right now.

With the wealth of Star Wars Universe before you I am sure you can find another great character concept to draw upon.

Originally, George Lucas was not keen on using Frank Oz as the voice of Yoda. Talk about almost losing an Icon.

And Watto, or at least a Toydarian, can be seen in Labyrinth over a decade before we see him in The Phantom Menace.

Sure brutally crush my dreams of an Ahsoka inspired hero. No worries I will suffer with one of the millions of cool alternatives.

Well it sounds like we have pilots and a medic... Hmm... Maybe a mechanical prodigy who can fix a kinds of stuff. An orphaned duct rat who survived by crawling through the ducts and pipes of a city planet scavenging and repairing anything she needed.

Story time?

As a child I got to watch an actual film on reel to reel of Star Wars, and they set up the projector so the whole family could watch. Where afterward my father talked about how he met Lucas on an airplane and listened to him and his plans for nine movies, only six of which he ever made. I guess dad was a fan.

For the record, I was kidding about the Ewok medic. I'm not opposed to playing a medic if the team needs one, but I'd rather not be an Ewok! I've played one before, and it was a lot of fun, but it was 26 years ago, and I still don't quite feel ready to do it again.

I watched it too on reel while in pre-k.

Movies made me so smart I skipped kindergarten.

ahsoka has the honor of being the only Jedi i truly can't get enough of.

It looks like we have a pool of five players, I'll give it another half a day then we will get into the rules and character creation.

Scarab Sages

I would be interested. My knowledge of the d6 SW is limited however (I know the rules, more or less and have access to d6 Space - but that's about it. My knowledge of the Star Wars Movie universe is better and I am confident I can keep up there).

I am pretty open minded about what character to play, but the one that starts to take shape is a pilot-entrepeneur whose attempts to get on the empires good side turned sour so he turned to the alliance (for real - although few would believe him).

Stories....hmmm...OK. I don't know how good (or bad) the novelization of 'A New Hope' is in its original language, but the German translation (actually my first encounter with Star Wars when I was a kid) is atrociously bad. One of the lowlights is, that they actually translated 'Jabba the Hut' (it rhymes with 'Jabba the cabin...).

HA!
Hey Feytharn, nice to see ya!

As for memories, I can remember seeing Empire strikes Back at the theatre when I was 7 or 8, then seeing it again a few year later on tv.

Seems, I'd misremembered or just forgot about half the movie, so the second time was just as great as the first.

Hmmm I am thinking a cross between Newt from Aliens crossed with Agatha from Girl Genius; maybe a dash of Cyber Generation style. Some kind of weird vehicle... like a hoverboard and a pet droid that has been totally kit bashed.

If there's a gap in the party, I could perhaps pick up the role of the pet droid? If that suited you, Aranna? It's fine if not, of course.

Scarab Sages

HI Spazmodeus! Always good to see familiar faces (or an avatars leftover face...) in a recruitment thread!

That is AWESOME!

Did you figure out Darth Vader was Luke's Dark Father before the rest of us?

Dark Archive

Here are some possible templates you can use for the game.

Again this is not a long campaign, it will be a quick 5 month (real world) mini adventure, create a character that's fun to run, and while "balance" can always be a good thing, do not overly worry about party balance, I think it will work out on its own.

I mean if a farm kid, a princess and a scoundrel saved The Galaxy, how bad could you guys do?

Out of interest, what is the theme and era? I'm guessing... right after the Battle of Endor, c. 4 ABY? Are we Rebels, Fringers, or...?

Dark Archive

I'll answer all that in our brand new discussion thread.

If you wish then yes I am fine with you playing my kit bashed droid.

Time to look at those templates and see what I can do.

Nope, that were or northwestern neighbors, the Netherlanders ;-)
