Kinda!
Alchemist's Fire is a splash weapon dood...
Hobbes 'Rat Trap' Bitterleaf |
You asked me to burn it. What did you expect?
Lyosha Neverhome |
I said "someone", preferably someone who knew what they were doing.
Hobbes 'Rat Trap' Bitterleaf |
Be specific next time.
Eredhaias Malynneil |
Ered tries to get himself in a good position, so he can let the fires run from his hands to destroy this plant.
This will only be what he does if there is a way to keep the rest of the party and the unconscious man out of the way.

'Silence' |
Moss that makes a man into a troll monster... no no no, not a good thing at all!
He said somwhat cheerfully slowly resheathing his katana.
Will he be okay?
He asked nodding to the unconcious man they klonked well pretty hard.
Zsestrian Raven |
"Whew!" Zses sighs with relief when the moss is reduced to a pile of ash. "Should we patch him up here? Better than carry him around on our shoulders."
Allie Silvershaper |
Allie shrugged. Staring at Zses.
Lyosha Neverhome |
Still holding his head Neverhome wobbles over to pick up the man's axe, lest he get back up and start hacking again, fungus or no.
Lyosha Neverhome |
"Nyet... my head feels on fire." Turning to Sigrun he tries to put a placating smile on but doesn't really succeed.
'Silence' |
Is he okay? You were hurt Neverhome?
He questioned wondering if somehow he had missed something. it was possible he supposed that would explain why he hung back while the man was trying to cleave Hila and himself in twain earlier.
We can drape him across Mule's saddle and take him back to his wife, if he is okay. I dont want to stick around this mold no no no. Not at all.
Lyosha Neverhome |
"Stupid spores..."
Your Benevolent Dictator |
When you return to the woman (who's named Sylgja, by the way), she's overjoyed. True to her word, she offers you food and shelter for the night. Her cabin is large enough to accommodate all of you. In addition, she explains that she possesses some minor spellcasting ability and asks if any of you are suffering from a curse (like that wonderful magic ring). Lastly, she gives you her husband's magical bear trap as a reward.
If you take it
This bear trap looks no different from any other ordinary bear trap, but it has several magical abilities. On command, an insidious bear trap snaps shut, opens to release a trapped creature, or resets itself. The trap can also be set to ignore a creature that speaks a password (designated by the person setting the trap), thus preventing the trap from triggering when the creature enters the trap's location. In addition, the person setting the trap can effortessly insert and withdraw the spike designed to secure the trap into the ground or even stone.
Once per day, the insidious bear trap can be commanded to turn invisible for up to 5hrs or until triggered. While invisible, the insidious bear trap is almost impossible to spot or disable (+40 to the DCs for Perception and Disable Device checks), though the person who set the trap can still see it. The trap receives no bonus on its melee attack roll. If the target of the trap has the trap sense ability, it retains those bonuses to avoid the trap's attack. Additionally, once per day, the trap can be set to emit an audible alarm or mental ping, as the spell alarm, when it is triggered.
Lyosha Neverhome |
What about the axe?
Hobbes 'Rat Trap' Bitterleaf |
Hobbes thanks the lady while glaring at the greedy Neverhome.
Lyosha Neverhome |
oh s*$*, that was supposed to be OOC, not in-character, notice the lack of "" , Nevehome would defintely not have asked that out loud!
What I get for posting while half-asleep -_-
Hobbes 'Rat Trap' Bitterleaf |
I would believe it..
Lyosha Neverhome |
Since when Have you known Neverhome to be greedy?
Hobbes 'Rat Trap' Bitterleaf |
No, just prone to saying the wrong thing.
Lyosha Neverhome |
*shrugs*
Zsestrian Raven |
"So" Zses asks, after thanking the man and the woman for their hospitality, glancing for a moment at the grassy fields around the house "nice place you have here. How did you do this? It's a frozen wasteland just a few minutes of walk from here."
Lyosha Neverhome |
"Nice, except for Moss Troll lurking about." Neverhome adds to Zsestrian's comment while rubbing his head.
Sigrun Jagrsdottir |
"Does Vashti need to take a look at your head?" Sigrun asks, running her hand through Neverhome's hair.
Lyosha Neverhome |
"When she has time, my thoughts just feel like mushed snow." he responds after letting out a pleased and soothed purr.
Percy Silvershaper |
Percy looks at the bear trap, but knows that it will weigh her down. She leaves it for someone else.
The warm weather was a nice change. It had been forever since their last sunny day. She sticks with Hobbes and enjoys a nice contented mood.
Your Benevolent Dictator |
Vashti spends a bit of time tending to the man's wounds (and Silence and Hila's injuries as well) and making sure that he fully recovers from the Mold's infestation. Afterwards, all of you enjoy a restful night free from troubles. The next morning, Sylgja and her husband bid you a grateful farewell as you begin your journey to Whitethrone anew.
You soon leave the magical pocket of summer and are once again traveling through the harsh Irrisini climate. As evening falls, you can see ruins up ahead. As you draw closer, you see that this place was once a small town of village prior to the Winter War. Most of the buildings are little more than piles of snow-covered stones, with crumbled sections of their walls rising from the ruins. The only structure that might offer temporary shelter appears to be an old temple inside a walled circular churchyard with an arch at the entrance. The front door of the temple has rotted away, but a smooth stone circle engraved with the outline of a butterfly is mounted above the doorway.
'Silence' |
Again he led the way mounted atop Mule, some distance from the party. whiskers twitching the whole while. The old temple made him both excited and sad at the same time, He liked flutterbyes, but it was hard to be glad seeing the temples sorry state. He was slowly becoming morose the longer he stayed in this snowlocked land. He waited quietly for the others to arrive before he dismounted Mule.
It looked as good a place as any to stay the night, the walls would keep cold wind from blowing over them, and if there were not too many easy entrances they could use that trap to guard the door while they rested somewhat easier...
Hobbes 'Rat Trap' Bitterleaf |
Hobbes will carry the bear trap around as the party moves on. He just enjoys the trip, sitting next to Percy, eyes wary for Neverhome and his puppy-cidal ways.
"What is this place?"
Lyosha Neverhome |
"Corpse of town that once was. Ruins in ruined land. Forsaken places in forsaken land. Cursed ground in cursed land that never should have been." Neverhome absentmindedly muses to Hobbes' question while looking the place over, his head still foggy from yesterday.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 10 - 1 = 25
Zsestrian Raven |
Zses walks off the slaygon, helping Allie to climb down if she wants.
Looking up at the butterfly engraved up on the archway, the witch unconsciously clutches the Desnan pendant he's wearing.
"A temple to Desna, maybe? Do you want to take a look around the place and rest here? It's almost night." he asks to the party.
Sigrun Jagrsdottir |
"It's probably safer than sleeping out in the open. I'd consider it worth checking out." Sigrun says, keeping an eye on Lyosha.
Your Benevolent Dictator |
As you approach the temple, three men in tattered Desnan clerical robes come out and start in surprise. "Oh, hello there. I thought all the children were already in the courtyard." They shrug, and one of them gives Hobbes a friendly grin and then spreads his arms to indicate the rest of you as well. "All right, little ones, let's go play with your friends. Come, come, I'll show you the way!" He beckons you further into the churchyard.
Lyosha Neverhome |
On guard at seeing the men appear Neverhome stays aloof until his eyes go wide at hearing something. Drawing his sword he steps up to Hobbes and growls. "There's children in there. But they're not playing."
Hobbes 'Rat Trap' Bitterleaf |
"I ain't some youngling, guy." Hobbes frowns when Lyosha tells of his revelation. He draws his bow and aims it the priest. "What's going on here?"
Lyosha Neverhome |
"Children in there. Crying. Afraid." he growls out through clenched teeth as the tightening grip on his sword becomes audible.
Sigrun Jagrsdottir |
Sigrun draws her hammer, her demeanure taking on an icy expression. "Explain there are children panicked inside, NOW." she says, knuckles going white.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Percy Silvershaper |
Percy doesn't know whether to be grateful or indignant that she wasn't mistaken for a child too, but such pretty concerns are pushed aside when the screaming of children is found. Her eyes narrow at the "priest". One wing move and he was going to be extra crispy.
Your Benevolent Dictator |

The priests scowl, and their skin fades away - leaving only rotted flesh and bone behind. They lash out with bony claws and gash Hobbes and Neverhome.

"Watch out!" Zses shouts after the undead hit both Hobbes and Lyosha. Focusing on the one that just hit the halfling, the witch starts whispering an arcane formula.
"शव दूरे अजीव, प्रत्यागच्छति प्रति पृथिवी!"
Laughing grimly, Zses sets his eyes on the creatures.
Why does every Desnan priest that we find have to be an undead?
