And we're off!
It's a pleasant day in Heldren as you exit The Silvered Stoat (or your house) this morning. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and there's not a cloud in sight. In other words, it's the perfect day for a festival!
The day starts off with a short speech from the council head, Ionnia Teppen. She gives a warm welcome to all visitors and promises that this festival will be the best one yet. "You may think you've seen it all before, but this year will be one you'll never forget! We gathered only the most beautiful butterflies, and I do believe that Desna herself couldn't have done better. I promise you, you won't believe your eyes when you see them." With that, the fun begins!
Check the Campaign Info tab for a map of Heldren and a list of games. Have fun! :-)
Lyosha Neverhome |
Neverhome lets out an overly loud yawn as he steps out of the inn and overhears Teppen's speech. "This place seems pretty happy... almost uncomfortably so." he states to no one in particular as he makes his way to the festivities.
Knowledge (Local): 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (6) - 2 = 4
Just wandering around taking everything in atm, although the Fencing competition did catch his eye.
'Silence' |
Silence awoke early as was his custom. He rose early and gathered his things bundled amongst his saddlebags. He wasnt sure how 'dressed' he should take things, he was already certain to be an oddity. He armed himself before he head downstairs, helm under his arm and his sashimono held under the other arm. He nodded to those he passed making sure to keep rigid.
knowledge local: 1d20 ⇒ 16
When he stepped outside the first thing he did was carefully take the sashimono and slide it behind him into the rings fastened to hold the 'battleflag' upright. It was a smaller banner, the silk flag itself bobbed a half dozen inches above his head. He glanced about the town, he had seen so little of it the night before his tail idly swishing behind him. He indeed was looking for the archery grounds, though he saw what appeared to be some sort of riding compition and every some sort of melee combat... interesting times indeed. He glanced about to find that maiden from the night before, she had mentioned about seeing him at the festival.

Meandering around the fair grounds Lyosha spots some familiar faces over at the Tug-of-War contest. With a slight smirk he says to himself, "No idea what that is, but it's bound to fun with those people."

Erika Darou |
Erika steps out into the bright morning sun and yawns. Mmmm what a lovely day, let's go see what trouble we can get into As she strolls through the wandering crowds she tries to take in as much as she can about the days events. Local: 1d20 ⇒ 4
As she wanders she hears about an archery contest and meanders her way over to the arena. She looks at the range and her heart leaps into her throat. There's no way I can reach those far targets... She curses under her breath at the misfortune but decides to take her hand anyway. When her turn arrives she lets fly five arrows towards the nearest target.
Arrow1: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

Arrow4: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Arrow5: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
As only one arrow strikes the target she sighs and slinks off away from the field a bit dejected by the loss. She is so distracted infact that she nearly bumps into Silence.
'Silence' |
He startles making a cute little mreeow noise for amoment then he smiles broadly. "Good morning friend, the morning finds you well yes yes?" he began glancing torwards the archery fields. He too frowned a bit at the distances. "if i had my yumi, this might be a bit different but..." He shrugged and took his shortbow. "Shall we see what targets i can hit yes yes?"
Silence will fire at the furthest target first, and if he hits it will repeat the next shot at it as well. If he misses it he will move one range target down. Same thing applies miss move down hit again

Lyosha Neverhome |
Finding himself at the field with targets and archers Neverhome eyes each of the archery targets warily while he fumbles with the longbow that was loaned to him for the competition, it is clear to anyone watching that this person has never held a bow before as the constant rapping of the arrow against the wood pervades for a few moments before he is finally able to steady his aim. Eyeing the the first target he begins to pull back on the arrow, but he makes out some slight jeering and laughing from the crowd. "Screw it.' he mumbles under his breath, and switches his aim towards the farthest target.

hehe whoops, counted the 0-100ft increment into the penalty too, lets try that again.
"Well that went better than I expected." Content that he was able to hit the target at least once he hands the longbow back to the person running the contest before turning and noticing Silence and Erika. "Oh! Pleasant to see you here, and congratulations on hitting the far target Nimble Cat Spirit. Any other games caught your eyes?"

The door of the Silvered Stoat swings open, and an panicked Zsestrian run out of it, almost tripping over himself.
Damn! Always up at 5 of the morning, and the day I absolutely have to do something I oversleep!
"I hope I didn't miss the butterflies... he said, while hazy, distant memories started to crept into his head.
No worries interrupted Crow, always sitting on his shoulder, pointing with his beak at the council head who was giving her speech.
Oh, thanks Desna. sighed with relief Zsestrian, and then furrowed his brow.
Why did I said that?
After hearing the speech (and being relieved that there WILL be butterflies), he sift trough his head to recall something about the festival

Falling asleep that night was one of the hardest things Blik had ever done. Between his huge empty room, his excitment for the festival, and this whole 'sleeping through the night' thing Blik got a really late start.
Rushing out of the inn, Blik will spend time frantically running from one attraction to the next, excited to see everything in the fair. He'll finally stop at the Trivia Booth, eager to see how much he's learned about the world.

"So, how are you doing, Lyosha? Tried the archery contest? I would give it a shot too, but last time i tried to use a bow, it flew off instead of the arrow.I didn't even know they could do that!" the witch said, and then started laughing. "Can confirm" croaked the raven, while nodding in agreement.
Zsestrian then made to greet the two people that Neverhome was talking to.
"Good morning miss, and you too, feline friend."
I still have to figure out if he is a "he" at all. Wouldn't be nice to mistake someone gender...
Crow felt Zsestrian nervousness and would have raised an eyebrow, if he had one. He couldn't know, tough, that was for something as trivial as the cat-man gender.
"I'm sorry, but I didn't catch your names yesterday at the tavern. I'm Zsestrian Raven, by the way." he smiled.
"Have you tried the archery competition, too? You two look like someone that can wield a bow with great skill. More skill than me, anyway! he added with a laugh.
Also, when talking to them, Zsestrian will try to discern Silence gender by his voice, name (that won't be much of a help, I suppose :P) and build.

Tug-o-War
Silence, Neverhome, and Blik are currently playing. They're putting up some big numbers, but will they be enough to prevail against Group One? Up to three more people can assist, otherwise I'll be forced to supply NPCs, as Group One has pretty much everyone engaged. :-)
You can play as many games as you want - or explore the town. This part is pretty sandbox. :-)

"My father was Laridal Tarakeda, a noted expert in the art of yabusame. He paused for a moment smiling and offering a short little bow to Zsestrian Raven. "Yabusame is the art of firing upon the target from the back of a galloping horse, I spent of course, many hours in practice for my father's honor. Good Morning friend Zzestrian. Indeed the spirits were with us this morning. I am named 'The Quiet pause one moment before the pounce upon ones prey, in a cool winter evening with a slight wind blowing from the east.' But my father and my friends call me Silence. " He smiled and offered his large paw-like hand. It was customary in these lands he believed.
