Actually i think we will hit lvl21. The GM mentioned our NPC class will not influence our CR

Good, so its just HP, Skill Point, Saves & BAB as a bonus for our original class. It does boost characters chances a little but I guess its much needed if GM will not hold back with his punches

I'm hoping to gain some basic spells off taking adept.

Well, with the Expert NPC class I was able to boost points to all Knowledge skills. Not at all skill monkey in the end but might grab Heal/Sense Motive with Expert (granting 10 skills of your own choosing) which could boost group overal survivability

I had to take warrior... but if i remove the archetype i will have to rework a bit more :P

GM question: Are advanced firearms available, and if not, will they become available? I love the idea of a goblin with a rifle.

Also, how long do civilized goblins live, and how quickly do they mature?

@Korak re: Orphidians- in Goleran they'd be fine with whatever nature deity. Visually they have a scaled humanoid torso with prominent fangs but don't expect to get much use from magical shoes as they have a serpentine lower body.

@All re: NCP classes- Expert is an amazing boost to skills, Aristocrat has a good mix of skills and weapon profs and likely RP advantages, Adept can be useful for spells and UMD free wand casting, Warriror can be a good boost to BAB, and Commoner exhibits a roleplaying value.

The benefits to me as a GM is that they give an extra element to your background. There's also the fact that the random monster table in Kingmaker kills a lot of L1 parties that don't run when they should. A few extra HP might stop that from being a TPK. Also, this is sandbox you could well wander outside the areas that are safe for your level.

@Roto re: advanced firearms- I'd normally just say hell no but this is a Reign of Winter/Kingmaker Mash up and Book 5 of Reign of Winter has advanced firearms. It is a long road before you'd get them but they do become available. If you want cooler earlier look at the gungineer alt class from our gunslinger book... there's more mods on our blog too. You'll lose BAB and become more of a specialist but you boomstick like a boss.

I have to say, It is funny how Jarx as wizard does know almost all of the skills (received due to expert npc class). Never really thought that he would so wise for a kobold lawl.

Also I am thinking of having Morrigan as my daugter, as in imaginary. Crazy, scarred Jarx is living in his illusions and Morrigan has kind of replaced one of his pups and he is quite overprotective about her.

"She is clearly kobold! You fool, I will rip your head out if you try to approac her! Get your own species damn freak". She happens to be just bigger than normal kobold, without scales but thats what you get when you as a parent dont equip them well as they are babies. Taking all the odd jobs he could in Brevoy/Prixie depending where we start Jarx ended up working in Library as well doing some small time work for magic shop but never really got far in both places due to his race and.... more than odd behaviour, being quite famous of his issues

I've now stated up my Aasimar Cleric, but am still unsure about a couple of things. Are the Empyrial Lords available as dirties, or only the standard Golorian deities.

Adept fits the character well, but having more skills available also makes sense. Any recommendations?

I've got a general idea of a cadre of specially trained clerics sent out to accompany new explorations, and bring the word to the people. Evangalist Archtype seems to fit this well, but I don't want to step on any leadership toes with that choice. Seems most of the abilities of that tend to support a strong leader.

Thoughts???

First check the g+ document if you haven't to see what others are up to character wise but play the character you want is my main advice here.

I'm pretty flexible with goleran deities pretty much if it's here I'
ll typically allow it.

Check out the Abbot if you like domains or perhaps if you're a cleric of the people farm soldier.

Hey Solspiral! I sent you what I came out with so far with my Orc Witch. I'm using the Abbot, btw... Hehe ;) And Milani as deity.

Mmmm. Thanks. That was my main thing, whether it was serpent folk or naga based, I assume snake headed being instead of nearly human with some snake features.

Initial look is good though I'm likely to down down Abbot a little as it is a bit too front loaded at present.

but it stands for now.

@ Korak My apologies I was incorrect they look like these guys apparently

To be honest that was my writing partner's work... I double checked with him then did a google image search they have cobra hood are bipedial but with a tail pretty much just like the picture.

Okay so serpentfolk with a hood then. Gotcha, thanks. Though to be honest, I was kinda hoping it was naga.

For those who are curious, I am Jeff Harris (the a fore mentioned partner) didn't do the old style body because of the naganji and possible confusion ;)

As a heads up whatever you do for a background you have a tie to the Liberty’s Edge be it an aristocratic supporter, freedom fighter or former slave.

You're either from or have been invited to Restov by Lord Javoki Ladovka for a unique opportunity.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

@GM_Solspiral are the monstrous characters also invited to Restov?

RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 32

Correct, it is going to everyone.

So we are not going with the standard plot hook then? Are there really so many monsters? :/

I give you Schub. May the Stolen Lands tremble in fear.

Standard setup for Kingmaker = you got a charter from some dude named Lord Javoki Ladovka with absolutely no reason as to why you were selected or hired for this duty beyond having a background trait that vaguely Ids you as being from Brevoy.

Standard Set up for Reign of Winter is you as an already fully formed group run into something.

Standard set up for Tales of Old Margrave = you're passing thru a hamlet and plot wacks you in the face with a hammer.

One of Kingmaker's flaws is that there's this great overview of the noble families and absolutely nothing that puts you on their radar. This si far from my first rodeo with kingmaker, trust me...

My character is nearly done, just working on more background stuff with Krisam and oyzar.

Well, not sure how I should continue with my background but waiting to hear something about Morrigan.

Otherwise Jarx could have misunderstood whole concept of Liberty's Edge to something along "kobolds be threatened, make your own kindgom" or just being dragged by someone for his knowledge along the way as he along the way forgets the original purpose of the "journey"

Grand Lodge

Thrick could always use a scaley friend to explain odd human mannerisms.

Also, does anyone think the lizardfolk are capable of making the gator rumble noise?

How much HP does the eidolon start with?

I suspect Solspiral is referring to the rule that you don't need to make a UMD check if the spell is on your spell list.

@oyzar it's a 1st level eidolon

@Korak YoricksRequiem is correct

So 5 HP? 6? Seems a bit out of sorts with all the HP the rest of us are getting, but I guess it is fair. Do we get maxed HP from both our classes or just from the NPC class?

Here is the beginning of my character, though far from finished, going with a biped eidolon. Still need to sort out things with Kejal. Way too late to worry about it now.

Ah. Okay.

Your eidolon gets max HP at first level so do you for that matter. You're a first level character with extra beef from the NPC class...

Here's my goblin gungineer first pass, let me know if there's anything egregiously wrong.

A few questions:

Is crafting OK pregame, for lowering the cost of ammunition?

Is it OK to switch out racial traits for something else? I'm thinking of Stalker and Weapon Familiarity.

How fast do civilized goblins age in your game? Sorry if you've answered this already, I can't seem to spot it.

still working, slow going because well, being lazy. But so far, I like what I see. Which is basically that unarmored I already have a 17 AC. But I is squishy at 12 HP. I may leave her unarmored given she's not actually an adventurer at this point and is a traveling healer.

Are we using anything from Unchained?

Sent you a PM Jarx.

"Morrigan" will be a coven sworn aristocrat turned lore spirit Shaman - a failed apprentice exiled (or otherwise on the run) from Irissen due to her distaste for the 'uglier' aspects of their witchcraft and for being too vocal against the oppressive regime there. Now she seeks to turn the skills thrust upon her instead to a cause of her own choosing...

Crunch is a WIP as I'm new to the shaman class so I'm digesting it. It's almost there though.

How long are you keeping recruitment up anyway? (or did I miss that info somewhere...)

Everyone - I've added links to The Document for those who have aliases or have posted crunch, though I may have missed one or two of you. Either way, I recommend keeping yourself updated in the document because it seems like that is what the GM will be using.

.Morrigan wrote:

He said until 6/27 - Saturday.

Thanks!

Good stuff so far... I see 8 characters I'd approve with minor adjustments and one that maybe is mixing us up with another campaign.

I see a lot of good ideas that don't have a draft yet. I'm adjusting opening posts and the first combat and I think this is going to be a heck of a lot of fun!

This is quite interesting. So far there is 3 humans and 1 winged elf. Otherwise rest of the people are monstrous races.

Liberty's Edge

I assssume I am one of the onessss without a draft. Here is Ssahisysha. The Orphidiand Herbalist. At least what I have.

I can have Wikiwik be from somewhere other than Varisia if you prefer. I just liked the idea.

@Korak- Nice work! I'm considering making a prestige class for herbalist/briar knight hybrids that would hit around 6-7th level let me know if that's something you'd like to try out (I'd make it more of a priority.)

@Roto- he's your character, I have no issue with his background. Another prestige class I'm considering work on is the Clockwork Knight/Gungineer for those that love tinkering. Let me know if that's of interest.

How many people are you thinking of letting in?

He said 8-10 people I believe.

Do we have a deadline for submission? Hopefully I'll get some headway today, but I have no guarantee.

Gods yes. I'm not sure how well I'd do as a cavalier but, yes, so much yes.

@All Great characters guys!

RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 32

I'm taking a total of 10 with 4 alternates. Basically I figure on there being a bit of a feeling out process for the first couple weeks and some might well decide to bow out or might not be a good fit. If that happens we can call in an alternate and no harm no foul.

Deadline is 27th I'll be deciding for sure then but in all honesty I'm pretty solid on 5-6 picks already. The 8 up awhile ago would be a good group, but I'd say there's still an opportunity to impress and grab the remaining few spots.

@Korak- correction my intention was Botanist/Briar Knight (both FPC products) Herbalist was one of out early names before we realized Wayfinder did one...

Aww. Oh well I still might take a level in briar knight anyways just for some added combat ability and the plant companion, or was that recieved at a higher level...

Anything so far you think Beads need to update or change?

=^^=

Very intriguing! I'd love to hear more. :)
