I am a healer, not a warrior. However, monstrosities such as these must be dealt with, otherwise they will come back to haunt us. If we let this worg go, then others will think that we are weak and will hunt an prey on the people of New Celtara.
We must eliminate this threat now.
Jarix |
"It seems that we are off after the worg. Lead the way master hunter." Jarix does not see himself as a 'king' more of a first among equals. I don't think the game would be much fun if Jarix made all the decisions without regard to what others want. I figure most of the time, we can come to a consensus. On those occasions that we can't or a decision has to be made quickly, Jarix will decide. "It is my duty to my country that had me walking in circles and it is my duty to my country tha now has me hunting this worg."
DM Patcher |
As you all rush over to where the worg and its pack was, Irikar finds the tracks with some difficulty through the grass. Following it proves to be no simple ordeal, though with some help from the blink dog (through nuzzles and pawings) the trailing remains successful.
After several hours of tracking, the problem presents itself. The myriad of tracks scatter in multiple directions, and the heaviest set of paw prints seem to have vanished completely...
Irikar Vareth |
Irikar looks up from the tracks going off in multiple directions, "And now, the trail gets confusing. So, either this is an ambush point, or the worg (or an ally) knows other spells that let them not leave prints." He looks to the Blink Dog and says, "Do you smell anything?"
Falger Ortio |
"Well that's just great, apparently the intelligent giant evil wolf thing can fly." Falger sighed, "I'm not sure there is anything we can do other than keep an ear out to see if it crops up again down the line. We'll warn anyone coming this way to keep a sharp eye out."
"We may as well finish our exploration of this area, just have to keep a good watch tonight."
Irikar Vareth |
Irikar keeps combing the area, looking for some sign until finally giving up.
"This beasts seems even more sinister than I expected. I'd like to think we scared it off, but it will simply seek easier prey...." He sighs, and says reluctantly, "I agree - we'd best get back to exploring for the good of our nation... But we should mark this area on a map, just as a warning to others, and possibly consider posting a bounty on the warg when we return."
Jarix |
"A most excellent idea, High Lord Irikar. That worg has escaped for now, but he shall be hunted until the end of his days." With his apparent escape, are we going back to surveying? Do we have anyone with us that can make maps?
Irikar Vareth |
Knowledge (Geography), yes. Profession (Cartographer), no. I would think that means I can make useful maps, but maybe not the prettiest ones....
DM Patcher |
Unsuccessful in your endeavour to track down the foul worg, you resume to map out the area without any great interruptions. A small downpour of rain seems almost refreshing as nightfall arrives. The blink dog seems grateful and (unless anyone objects) stays with you during the night.
You have successfully explored and mapped out this tile.
Day Three, Month One, Year One...
Morning comes. The rain has long since stopped, and only the rumble of thunder can be heard from somewhere far in the south-west on occasion. You traverse the plains to the edge of the forest, and find that, in the wake of yesterday's rain, it is enchanted with a beautiful mist. While thin, it hampers your vision slightly.
A rather big stretch of this part of the forest consists of Darkwood - magical and rare trees whose wood is exceptionally light yet durable. This could be a valuable resource!

Knowledge(nature): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Smiling at the refreshing day and enjoying the mist which he frequently used when prejudiced youths shared him out of a town, Msosth almost has a jump in his step. Upon seeing the forest, Msosth breaks out in a big grin.
Do any of you recognize these trees? This is the rare Darkwood. If harvested properly, this is a valuable resource. I say that today has started out much better than yesterday.
Alrich |
This is an outstanding find. Alrich states as the whispers grow faint.
is the resource considered to be in the square we are in or in an adjacent one. If so, which. Thanks.
Fortunately, we have a mill. However, I suggest we ensure that this resource is preserved rather than squandered or wasted. I suggest we continue or explorations around our home with haste.
Irikar Vareth |
Irikar smiles and nods his agreement to Msosth's joke, "Let's hope this is a good omen and our luck continues."
He sobers at Alrich's comment, "It would be worse than folly to simply blight these wilds, especially for something so small as short-term gains. Properly husbanded, such a find can bring us prosperity forever, and allow us to maintain a pleasant balance with nature."
Jarix |
"In this, I believe we are all agreed. We should begin considering candidates for a Warden or Ranger or whatever to be responsible for maintaining such a balance."
