Thanks for your patience everyone, it is parent-teacher conference season so things are pretty busy here, but I will post soon!

No problem Mike, we're just working our butts off for lots of roleplaying XP. Hopefully we'll be 10th level before we leave the bar!
I'm pretty sure I was about 200xp short of 10th when we finished up last time.

And I've finally made it through one of the busiest weeks of the year! Gameplay post coming imminently and I shall now return to my regular daily (or near-daily) posting commitment. Let's do this!
Aurelian Fache |
Just FYI, I'm leaving on Friday for a 10-day vacation to Italy. I'm back May 13, though I don't know how jet-lagged I'll be (I'm hoping to try to stay up the entire flight and get right back on schedule, more or less, but the best-laid plans of mice and men...).
I'll still be posting over this week, I think, though still have lots of planning to do, so if you're waiting on me, please DMPC me.
Aurelian Fache |
It occurs to me, with eight players, combat could take a long time. I'd suggest to Mike that he should be very willing to DMPC one of us if we're holding things up. That said, I know what a colossal pain it is to DMPC characters, especially at higher levels (and for PBP, 9th is higher levels, IMO).
It might be smart if we give him some idea of basic ideas of what we'd like our characters to do, all things being equal. If we're being really nice, we'll even set up the macros on our sheets for him (see under Aurelian's attacks tab for an example of what I'm talking about), which I've found also makes my life a lot easier as a PBP player.
I'll set up for you tomorrow, but I think my standard attack plan will be to use the wand of scorching ray and sprinkle in my spells as needed. I tend to be very conservative with my expendable resources, though I'm trying to be better about that as I play more (there's a reason I love witches and rogues and should like fighters more...).

These are all great ideas! Though depending on how much time I have when I am making a given post, I might simply have a character "delay" or "aid another" rather than try to figure out some other course of action.
Chug Dustpawn |
I'm happy to cast guidance when needed, as aid another is not universally applicable to actions, but guidance largely is.
Obviously, beating heads and casting heals if needed though!
I'll not be out of touch for the most part though, so I won't need to be ghosted until I'm off on the cruise!

I too would say guidance is a good go to if I am unavailable. Healing is also a good bet.
Davy Dagaroth |
I just noticed that I didn't use Power Attack on my strikes, but applied the damage anyway.
So Mike should remove 4 damage from each of Dagaroth's trike this round (if the first was a critical, remove an additional 4).
Next round I'll destroy it!
EDIT: Additionally, if it was a critical, the frog is shaken for: 1d4 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 rounds (from the Dragon Ferocity feat).

Just an FYI that I have been terribly ill this past week or so, thus the slowness, but I am at nearly full operating function once again and I'll be posting soon!
Summer break is so close... I'll have so much free time... sooooo much!

I wish you had said something. I don't have cure disease memorized today, but I certainly can for tomorrow.

Friends, I write this post with great regret. You'll have noticed quite a lack of posting from my end, both on this game and in other places (Blazing 9, even Freelance Forge). Life circumstances have changed for me in such a way that I have far less free time on the computer than I did when I started this game, and far more things to do in that time, from freelance writing to maintaining the Forge. I've realized that I am trying to do a lot of things at once and not doing any of them very well. Unfortunately I will not be able to follow through on running this game. Looking ahead, I thought that my summer break would afford me more time for this game, but it turns out that summer break for teachers isn't really any less busy than the rest of the year. At least, not this summer for this teacher.
I hate to back out of something that started so recently, especially considering all of the effort you put in to your characters. It is some consolation that I know my continued work in freelancing and at the Forge will mean that I'll still be working with most of you in some capacity. Still, I feel awful about it.
Me leaving does not necessarily mean the game must end! If one of you, or another person you know, wishes to run the game, it is possible to transfer ownership of the threads over to another GM. Since we are so early in the adventure, I figure it is more likely you will find someone willing to pick it up. I certainly hope that is the case, anyway.
If you haven't yet found me on Facebook or Twitter, or joined Freelance Forge, I hope you will consider doing so! There's not a one of you I wish to part ways with. In the very new future I will be looking for contributors to the Freelance Forge blog; let me know if you are interested.
Regretfully,
Mike
