"I thank you all for your patronage but especially your brave rescue," Pip jumps up and announces, "but I really must be going now!"

He snatches up his fallen banner pole and dashes westward.

"Pardon me," he squeaks as he skirts past Sara.

One move action to stand, another to move towards the left-hand edge of the map.

Alexite ducks in as Pip scrambles away, cutting off the dottari's access to him. He blinks as a lollipop flies past his head. The hells is that half-orc smoking? ...I should get some. Deflecting the dottari's blow with his dagger, he punches back, grimly continuing to wear her down.

Moving along a bit, but let me know if anything below is really out of character for your PC...

SaraBOT moves to get a better position, and fires another arrow at the Dottari...
Arrow ATK: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
...but the shot again goes wide.

Unfortunately for Alexite and Nerris, the Dottari's armor and shield are more than enough to keep either blow from landing, though she smirks a bit as the lollipop clangs off her shield as Pip runs away.

IndraBOT attempts to trip up the Dottari with her whip...
Whip Trip: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
...and the Dottari loses her smirk as her feet are pulled out from under her!

OrriasBOT tries his knockout tactic with his curve blade on the now-prone Dottari...
NL ATK: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (5) + 3 - 4 = 4
...but isn't quite able to get the lethal weapon to both hit AND not cut the woman's head off.

The Dottari swings out at Alexite's legs to try and slow the nimble fighter...
ATK: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 - 4 = 11
...but the attack fails. She attempts to stand to not let you get away, counting on her armor to protect her.
Alexite NL AoO: 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 - 1 = 6
Orrias NL AoO: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 3 - 4 = 15

Orrias manages to land the flat of his blade across her midsection as she stands, and you hear a hard grunt escape her lips as she stands.

Round 7! The party is up, followed by the Dottari. As above, I'll try to resolve things in order, but you can post whenever you like.

Pip dashes ahead, away from the plaza, lest Thrune and the Dottari march out a whole phalanx next to crack some skulls.

"I'm going to get a bit of a head start," he calls as he hustles past Nerris. "You kindly longstriders should have no trouble catching up, though."

He does not stray too far, however, as he weaves a path through the swathes of the crowd that do not part for him. Acknowledging that these new friends are as much to thank for his escape as his wit, charm, and luck, Pip has no desire to abandon them.

Double move to reach the end of the map and escape the riot.

The dottari woman falls to the ground, collapsing like a sack of grain, and the seven of you (including Ruina) dash through the crowd and melee in the park. Battered and bruised, you reach the edge just as the doors of the Opera House burst open again. Those of you who turn back see an enraged Nox being led from the interior by a massive hound, one with fire burning in its eyes, and flanked by another dozen Dottari guard. After surveying the scene in front of her, she barks a command, and the creature sends a gout of flame burning from its mouth!

At that moment the larger crowd panics, and starts tripping over itself to run for the edges of the park. You stay just ahead of them, avoiding any potential trampling, but at your first opportunity you dodge down a side alley to catch your breath and take stock after the chaos of the protest.

We'll take a quick opportunity for your characters to finally have a chance to speak with each other in this moment of peace before continuing!

Orrias adjusts his cloak to better cover his courtblade's scabbard, watching the Dottari from the alley mouth. "Barzillai doubtless won't let this excuse go to waste," the elf murmurs, just managing to keep the anger out of his voice. "I imagine we'll see quite a bit of these jackbooted bastards in the next few days."

Turning back to the others, he inclines his head, though his pupil-less blue eyes never stop assessing. "We'll all want to keep a low profile, I think, some of us would be easy to pick out in a crowd. I am Orrias Leliltaern, pleased to make your acquaintance."

As Sara caught her breath with the others the full weight of her actions began to crash down on her. She was a noble. Her actions here could have reprecussions on her family. She may not like her mother but would never wish any kind of harm to befall them. And then there is her work with the small following of Ragathiel. It would be all to easy for them to crush them without breaking a sweat.

"Gods what have I done," she says to no one. Ruina wimpers softly and rubs against Sara's legs to help calm her. Sara takes a couplw breaths before she looks up at the others. She does her best to remain calm and collected. She hated to admit it, but all the teachings she was forced to ait through helped her be ready for this.

Pip props himself up, using his banner pole like a long cane. His breath comes in ragged pulses. He rolls up his sleeve to wipe several beads of sweat from his face with his wrist. He does not want to soil Soria's hard work on his robe, hence why he barely caught himself from leaning against the grimy alley wall.

"Pannem was right...I need to...exercise more."

"Anyhow...my name is...Pip...Fenstrad. Or just Pip the Slip," he says, his breath finally catching up with him.

"I have an apartment in Old Kintargo, but it's hardly big enough for everyone. I'm not sure how keen Nandy would be to host us all considering I just did, well, exactly what she warned me not to do."

"Oh!" he exclaims and straightens himself out. "We could try seeking shelter at Songbird Hall! I was going to head back there anyhow to let everyone know how my performance went. I can't wait to see Soria's reaction when I say 'It went great until the riot broke out' and explain that it's not just a joke this time."

Indra is practically radiant with the feeling of revolution. Years of pent-up anger have finally received an outlet, even if a relatively non-bloody one. By Calistria's cleavage, THAT was exhilarating! she muses. She follows the others, staying near the rear to make sure they aren't being followed. Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 Satisfied that they have not, she speaks to the others.
"You may call me Indra. And I appreciate the company of those who also are fed up with Thrune dominance."
She compliments Alexite on his fighting technique against the goons and the dottari. And then she grins (slightly malevolently, perhaps) at Pip.

"As for YOU," she begins, "I must give praise where praise is due. Your sarcastic comedy is appreciated, but your trickery against the lackeys of Thrune was inspired!" She inclines her head and touches his shoulder.

Alexite leans against a wall, clutching a stitch in his side as he gathers his breath. Too much...too much ale! Oh gods! He waves a hand in acknowledgment of Indra's compliments.

"You did all right, too, Blue," he gasps as he straightens up. He takes a swig from his hip flask and grimaces as he swallows. "Name's Alexite. Alex is good. As you and your new companions steal further away from the clamor of the protest, making your way for Songbird Hall, Sara hears the sound of steel clashing against steel alongside a cry of pain from a nearby alley, one that you'll cross on your way past.

When you reach the entrance, you look down the street to see a group of thugs - bearing the same Thrune-favoring armbands as those you fought in the park - knock a man to the ground. Four unconscious thugs lie sprawled nearby, and it's obvious by the stances of those still standing that they intend to cave in the head of this man on the ground!

House Castilla? Well that bears noting, the elf doesn't show any outward sign of surprise and he nods to acknowledge each member of the group, lingering on Indra just a second longer than the others.

When Sara points out the cry of paid the elf immediately changes direction, moving into the mouth of the alley. Eyes flinty, Orrias flips his cloak over one shoulder and draws his courtblade, steel scraping quietly against leather. "Be swift and quiet," he whispers, more to steel himself as advise the others, and advances.

Sara has no problem ducking into a shadowy corner at this distance from the thugs, but Ruina has a little more trouble escaping their view - so much the better for your intimidation of them! The lead tough - the one holding the mace over the fallen body - is doing his best to keep a fierce visage, but he's clearly unnerved by the array of weaponry and might being brought against him.

The others with him start looking at each other, suddenly more skeptical about their chances. They've already had four of their number dropped to the ground - they didn't sign up for this so much as show up out of enthusiasm. That enthusiasm quickly diminishes when Alexite and speaks, and positively evaporates when Indra approaches.

As his companions start edging towards the exits from the alleyway, the leader points his light mace at the party and, voice quavering a bit, calls, "You haven't seen the last of us. Up Thrune!" Then, as he turns and runs away, you hear him yelling as he retreats, "Dottari! Dottari, come! Brigands have slain four of my friends! Help!"

If there are any available Dottari in the area, they are not likely to take long to respond. When you reach the downed body, you see that the man is barely conscious, and has suffered several significant blows when he was accosted by the group. He coughs weakly, but has enough strength to say, "I thank you, my friends. When they came upon me in such numbers, I was worried that my days would end before I could speak with you." He pauses for breath, trying to collect himself before coughing heavily. "Oh, gods, that hurts. But no matter - we should get off the street, and soon. Please, can you help me up?"

Nandy Crissali hadn’t made an issue of it, though she normally didn’t care for just anyone to step in off the street, and had quickly put you back to work. ”The Victocoras are good customers,” was her only explanation for the odd behavior of this noble.

”Yes,” as he sees the recognition in your eyes, ”Crissali normally wouldn’t have much to do with the kind of conversation that we’re about to have, but with both of us there, it shouldn’t be much of an issue. He walks forward, brushing loose bits of cabbage from his robe, before stopping in his tracks as he recognizes the man before the party.

"Lord...Victocora, was it? Gee, I've never seen Nandy let anyone loiter in idleness at the shop. Hopefully your family are good enough customers that she won't mind the lot of us seeking shelter there."

Pip pauses again beside the downed Thrune thugs and takes the opportunity to appraise their icon amulets.

"Such a shame that something so well made should be stuck with such a sad symbol. Still," he says, picking up and pocketing one of the amulets, "Might be useful to be able to pass for a Thrune supporter the next time a Dottari wants to crack my cabbage."

He then creeps to the alley's mouth and cautiously checks the street, seeing if the route to Crissali's Fine Tomes was safe - or at least, safe enough.

Pip, get them something to drink - you all look like you’ve had quite a day out there.” She pauses to take Rexus’ hand for a quick squeeze, and simply says, ”I”m sorry.” He nods, politely, before making his way to the back room.

It’s a simply adorned room. There are no windows, just a long central table, a sideboard with a few bottles and glasses, and a variety of comfortable chairs. One one wall hangs a landscape of rural Ravounel, though it would take some study to discern the actual location. Rexus crosses takes a seat in one of the chairs opposite the door, providing you plenty of spaces to sit, and lets out a long breath as he relaxes into the cushion.

”Well,” Rexus finally speaks when you are all in the room. ”I imagine you have questions for me by now, and I know that I have them for you. So which of us should begin?”

"Hey, am I gonna see any of that gold, as long as you're rifling through pockets?" Alexite mutters to Indra as the group heads toward the bookstore.

When Rexus Victocora relaxes into the room, Alexite scowls. "Seems to me like you're the one who should start," he says. "Who in the Hells are you? And why were you--it sounded like you were looking for us. Is that true? Why? I don't know any of these people."

Forgive me - travel yesterday made posting tricky last night. Apologies in advance for the wall of text below, but it’s time for a monologue! :)

“Of course, of course. To be truthful, I can’t say that I was looking for any of you, specifically, nor do I even know your names, though I am eager to learn them.

“I only observed your actions during the protest earlier today, even before the fighting began. You proved yourselves to be people of uncommon skill, and I am a man of uncommon needs. I tried to follow you out of the park, but in the panic that erupted I lost track of your group, and wound up in the hands of those brigands.

“My name is Rexus Victocora, and until last week's Night of Ashes, as some are calling it, I was one of this city's nobles. My parents' estate burned to the ground that night—I escaped simply because I was studying at the Alabaster Academy during the fire. There were other fires that night, as you know—fires that some believe were started by Barzillai Thrune or his agents in an attempt to preemptively squash any spirit of rebellion Kintargo might have against his rule. However, today’s protest showed that even fires will not quench us - Barzillai is in for a difficult tenure as civil leader here!

“Now more than ever we need that spirit of rebellion to stay strong, but Thrune's actions have driven into hiding those who could once rally the city to a cause, such as Lord-Mayor Jilia Bainilus and my parents. They are missing, at best, and are more likely dead. I cannot do this on my own, but with the aid of talented citizens such as yourselves, I have hope that we can.”

He pauses to take breath before continuing with a polite smile. “Such ventures are not without peril, of course, but if you were willing to do what you did today, then I am willing to back you however I can, and offer you helpful leads to resources and courses of actions, as we resist the rule of this tyrant in our city. What say you? Do you feel the call of rebellion in your heart? Think about what brought you to that park today - will it drive you further, to the aid all of Kintargo for more than just an afternoon’s skirmish? Will you help me, and others like me, to shake off the chains of Hell from our fair city?”

Indra is intrigued by Rexus' proposal. She had assumed the fires were to burn out possible political dissidents. A rebellion against Thrune! What starts here could spread across Cheliax. She knew that there would be others and this man seems to be connected to them. She doesn't really care much what their reasons are, as long as Thrune gets what's coming to them. And with Shensen's disappearance and probable death, Barzillai deserves her personal attention. She smiles at the thought of his torture.
"Are you talking about a guerrilla war?" she asks.

Pip pauses beside Nandy Crissali, using both hands to balance a wooden tray laden with mugs and a jug of water atop his head.

He looks up to his boss and mentor with raised eyebrows.

"I don't believe this," he whispers to her. "I've seen you cow and chase away more than a few rakes who started discussing politics in the shop.
Now we've got this Victocora fellow talking about outright sedition, yet we're rolling out the red carpet for him. You do realize this little irony's going in my next satire, right?"

" Are you telling me that more people are going to get hurt? I don't want anyone else to get hurt. ," Nerris says with a serious look on her face.

Pip:
Nandy gives you a very cross look. "That depends, young Pip. Do you enjoy your current employment and ambulatory functions? Or would you prefer to spend the remainder of your days as a fish, happily swimming down the Yolubulis river? Speak of this to anyone outside of those in that room, and you'll answer those questions for me quite quickly." She shoos you back to the room, even as she chuckles at your balancing act.

Back in the meeting room, Pip enters the room as Rexus addresses Indra and Nerris. "Your methods would be yours to discern - know that Barzillai Thrune will not stay his hand in carrying out his whims. You saw what his faithful followers and Dottari were willing to do in the Park today. Your actions would certainly need to be occasional and unexpected to have maximum effect, yet wreaking carnage that affects the general populace will quickly diminish your standing and effectiveness. There is a single vision that we must set our sights on - freeing all of Ravounel from the tyrrany of Thrune."

He turns to Pip, Orrias, Alexite, and Sara. "What do you think? What questions are on your mind?"

"What you're asking is enormous, my lord. House Thrune rules what is probably the most powerful state in the known world, openly backed by the infernal lords of Hell itself. I don't mean to discourage anyone, but half a dozen scrappers in the street would be hard-pressed to so much as tweak their nose, and the vengeance they can bring to bear will be terrible indeed. If you have loved ones in the region, Thrune will not hesitate to harm them in order to get to you." the elf smiles mirthlessly. "But Thrune is also...less than popular, it's true. We will need allies, anywhere and everywhere we can find them, but I don't think the task hopeless. Whatever your plan is, Lord Victocora, you may count me in."

Sara was quiet for most of the talking between the people. Listening to their words and reasons while trying to see where should would fall in the next few weeks to come. After a moment she spoke. "A friend once told me thay i'd have to make a choice one day one what path of Ragathiel i woukd follow. The one that cares for those who have been wronged or the one that fights to prevent the wrongs fron happening again. I was told the path of vengence would be difficult and only bring pain but watching what is happenjng to this city is tobpainful to bear any longer. You have my support as well." she says while clutching her holy symbol.

Alexite lounges against a stack of books, watching all the others with a skeptical eye. "Well, sounds like you all have strong feelings about what to do and how and why to do it. But I'm a simple man. You say you wanna make trouble for Thrune?" He grins and cracks his knuckles. "Sounds like fun to me. When do we start?"

Rexus nods to Orrias. "It is no small undertaking, to be sure, and this is why we aren't going to throw them out of all of Cheliax. Just Kintargo. I agree that our small numbers will not seem like much now, but let me ask you - have you heard of the Silver Ravens, by chance?

"I'm certain that their name has graced your ears once or twice if you've spent any length of time here in the city. Though there more recent iteration was disorganized and somewhat leaderless, they have a history of great action taken in the defense of the city against the tyranny of Thrune. It is my hope that we can uncover some of the secrets of the original organization - a lead that I have only recently tracked down - and use that to our advantage in galvanizing the city with us against the current regime."

To Sara and Alexite, he smiles and nods graciously. "I'm grateful for your offers to be involved. That makes five of us."

Looking again to Nerris and Pip, he asks, "What say you? Do you have a question that needs answering? Or is this more than you bargained for? I'll not coerce you - that would make me no better than our oppressors."

Pip grabs a mug of water and nearly downs it entirely with a single gulp.
His attempt to seem serious, though, is foiled when the draught goes down the wrong pipe and he gags slightly.

Coughing and red-faced, he struggles to compose himself.

"Wow, that almost made me forget all that I was going to say," he says tapping on his chest to finish clearing his airways. He offers a deep, sighing breath before continuing in an uncharacteristically somber voice.

"If this is a chance to change things - and there are certainly some important things that I want to see changed - then I need to join in."

"I just hope Nandy won't fire me for this," he adds, his wry grin and airy wit returning. "It'll be good to have something to fall back on if this fails.
"After all, even if we lose, it's only high treason. I'm fairly certain I can talk my way out of that without much trouble."

He punctuates his good-natured sarcasm with a laughing wave of his hand.
