Thrand Prymlea |
The attack labeled "Sword" should have been labeled "Sling".
Anyone not in favor of running out and attacking the man in dark robes speak now or forever hold your peace.
Tzardüsk |
"we could try talking to him, but I fear from that smirk when he saw the fallen undead, that he's in on all this, not a victim himself. But if we can take him alive, perhaps we can get some information out of him?"
Arendyl Gilvanus |
I'm game for whichever. Info would be nice but we're going into the tower regardless. If you attack it should still set off my readied. The robed guy would defineitely be alerted to the party's presence. Lol.
Thrand Prymlea |
Thrand nods in acknowledgment to his lady. "Alright. Let's all charge in. Now!" He runs straight at the robed figure and strikes at the man with his magical stag sword.
Stag Sword: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 7 + 2 = 191d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
AC penalty for charging not factored in.
GM Qwerty |
Thrand leaves the stable and charges at the robed man striking him down just as an arrow from Arendyl strikes him as well in the chest. The undead guards do not move from their position but you do know they notice your actions.
A quick search reveals the robed man carried nothing save for a few coins and a utility dagger, non magical. His hands were rough and calloused, like a servants. Around his neck is a crudely fashioned wooden religious pendant that is shaped like a flower except when held in a different manner also can appear to be a gaping maw with fangs and horns.
The pendant is the symbol of one of the Suel faiths of old, from before the cataclysm and migration. It shows allegiance to a certain evil outsider cult.
Arendyl Gilvanus |
Watching the robed figure crumble at Thrands feat, Aren draws another arrow and scans the tower to see if anyone noticed the ambush.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Thrand Prymlea |
Thrand examines the pendant and recognizes the symbol. He drags the servant's body to the stables and leaves it there, placing one of the servant's coins over each eye and one in his mouth, then pocketing the remainder.
"This unholy symbol is from one of the Suel faiths of old, from before the cataclysm and migration. We appear to be dealing with an evil outsider cult."
"What now, my lady? Gentlemen?"
Kn. Religion: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Ollok Stoneguard |
"Let's keep moving around the dead one and see if we can make it in the door. I don't think the dead ones will do anything providing we keep a distance away from them. Have your arrow ready. "
GM Qwerty |
i take it the group decides to enter the barracks or the building with the two undead by the door? (#1 on the map)
Based on the actions of the undead you deduce they are in place to guard against people either entering or leaving where they stand. The ones by the gate seem to be concerned with people entering the citadel through the gate. the one by the barracks seems to be guarding against anyone leaving the barracks. the one by the wall with his head knocked skyward seems to be guarding against anyone coming down from the wall. and the ones by the front door of building 1 on the map seem to be there to guard against anyone entering that building through the door.
Arendyl Gilvanus |
Aren looks at Ollok and nods toward the undead facing the barracks door. "Let us take down that one. He seems to be guarding against someone coming out of the barracks. Perhaps there are some people inside that can help. Readying an arrow at the undead in front of him, Aren waits for Ollok to attack before loosing the arrow.
Readied Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Thrand Prymlea |
"That is a good idea, my lady." says Thrand in response to Tanariel's suggestion for one of them to dress in the servant's robes. He returns to the yard to continue his assault on the undead whose orders render them defenseless. He slings a second stone at the remaining gate guard.
Sling: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 201d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 (previous attack against this one was attack 12, damage 5, also with a sling bullet)
Ollok Stoneguard |
Ollok moves towards the dead guard maintaining to keep behind it and hacks at deader with his axe.
just in caseStealth: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 7 - 2 = 23
Hand Axe: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Sneak Attack if flat footed: 1d6 ⇒ 4
GM Qwerty |
Ollok and Arendyl manage to kill the undead guarding the barracks door. As Thrand manages to kill the second undead guarding the gate.
After killing the undead guardian the dwarf and elf enter the barracks and see a ghastly scene of carnage. The towers guards seemed to have been caught asleep when attacked and most died in their bunks. A few managed to die on their feet. All of them were ripped to shreds, disemboweled or had limbs torn off rather violently. A few of the corpses seem to have been set up in unholy poses as a sort of offering or mocking. The room itself reeks of death. The duo notice the corpses that were used in the unholy poses seemed to have religious trinkets of good aligned gods like Heironeous, Tritherion, Corellon and St Cuthbert.
Thrand Prymlea |
Thrand begins attacking one of the undead guarding the keep, but somehow launches the bullet into the air behind him. Having lost his mojo with the sling, he decides to walk over to the barracks.
Sling: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 41d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Arendyl Gilvanus |
Aren moves quickly to the door of the barracks. After listening at the door, he checks quietly to see if it is unlocked.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Ollok Stoneguard |
"This is vile. What has happened here? Let's get the others I am still not sure what to make of this. But it would make sense why the doors are closed and the guards never came out of this citadel"
He turns to see Thrand walking to the barracks. "Let's grab the others whatever is in the citadel will know we are here now and it is all the better. Whoever is the reason for this shall suffer a slow death with these axes."
Thrand Prymlea |
Thrand looks through the door to the barracks before returning to the stables. Upon viewing the unholy scene, he exclaims, "Egads! I swear by Pelor that I will punish whoever did this!" He returns with the scouts to tell Tanariel, Anchard, and Tzardüsk about what he has seen.
Arendyl Gilvanus |
oops missed the spoiler there.
Aren looks into the room. He's appalled by what he sees there. He turns to Thrand's approach, welcome for a reason not to be looking into the barracks. " We havnt necessarily been spotted yet but it wont take long, that is for sure. We should get into the citadel as soon as possible."
GM Qwerty |
Thrand makes it over to the barracks to see what the dwarf and elf archer saw. Before he makes it back to the stables the door to the Citadel opens u and a dark robed figure walks out carrying a staff. He is accompanied by an additional two undead guards. He looks around the courtyard and sees the destroyed undead guards by the gate.
"অনুসন্ধান এবং কাফেরদের হত্যা he says to all the undead outside and they begin to move closer to the outer buildings...
The language is Dark Speech and he said "search and kill unbelievers"
you all have a surprise round to act but the group is split up in between the two buildings so no group coordinating between the buildings
Thrand Prymlea |
Surprise Round
Thrand exits the barracks and steps over the fallen undead guard to attack one of the undead (green outline) guarding the dark robed figure.
"For Pelor and Furyondy! Ollok, to me!"

Ollok Stoneguard |
Ollok curses as the knight rushes the robed figure and his guards.
"Arendyl fill that robed one with arrows. Looks like I got to go protect someone."
DM is it possible to charge the yellow zombie he looks about 20 ft away?
Arendyl Gilvanus |
Aren turns at the call to Pelor. Looking from the doorway he spots the black robed man the dwarf mentioned.
Surprise Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Thrand Prymlea |
You can probably see that the black robed guy left the citadel and that the undead are moving. A perception check might tell you more.

Thrand charges and strikes the green zombie but it does not fall...
Arendyl steps out of the barracks and sends an arrow at the black robed figure but narrowly misses him...
Tzardusk strikes another zombie guarding the figure...
