edited to provide the list as a reference

Well, that was fast!

So I'm arcane. I'm thinking a human Sorcerer, possibly Draconic, but I'm not sure yet. I actually would like to try and Prestige into Dragon Disciple, but I know wizards are miles ahead in versatility...

Undead would also be a fun bloodline to do, since I don't see too many melee sorcerers. Perhaps have a vampire in my family tree somewhere?

What's everyone else thinking?

Hi all! So, just FYI, I'm pretty new to Pathfinder, so if anyone sees me doing something remarkably boneheaded, please do let me know.

Anyhoo, for ranged goodness, I was thinking some flavor of gunslinger, either a rifle-using dwarf, or a bolt ace with an eye towards ranger.

My first thought as far as face/skill is an on-the-run noble from Westcrown whose family ran afoul of the Hellkinghts. He/She (not sure yet) was a trained opera singer. The Wiscrani opera scene can be rough and requires a lot of flexibility, so I was thinking bard. Haven't dived deeper than that yet, and not married to the idea.

Appears Human

I'm leaning toward a more classic cleric approach. Depending on what others are doing, I could lean toward undead slayer (Sun/Glory Domains) or a front line battle cleric (Travel/Strength Domains with a possible level of fighter).

Just a word of caution on your selections. The modules run the gamut of terrain, locations and require diverse skill sets. An all outdoor team will find difficulty in an urban setting just as an all urban focused group will have a slight disadvantage when the module spends time in the wilderness. But that adds to the RP flavor when no one can track effectively or when no one took disable device. Should be interesting.

The undead slayer cleric paired with the undead bloodline sorcerer makes an interesting pair.

Dark Archive

Barbarian or Fighter, going to try for a decent AC but still dish the damage. Will grab an archtype if Fighter or Barbarian.

Are there any factions we should or shouldn't consider?

Yeah, that'd be a weird/amusing combo.

"...you don't mind me pummeling these guys, do you? They aren't, like, distant cousins or something?"

"As long as you aren't pummeling me, I don't care."

Grr...Myth-Weavers crapped out on me before I could save what I was working on. Not sure if I'll have to start from scratch or not. Still debating possible archetypes, but Clarissa Starnon is a human (Chelaxian) Bard so far. A little concerned about not having trapfinding, but I'm a little sick of rogues and it has been forever since I've done a bard so I'm really thinking this is the way I want to go.

I've actually grown attached to the idea of an undead sorcerer, so I think I'll roll with that and make a debuff-centric melee oriented caster. Gimme some time and I'll get his crunch sorted out.

As for his background... I dunno, I'll think of something to stand out. Maybe he's the great great grandson of a vampire or something similar.

You guys half make me want to do dirge bard to keep the theme, but too much focus on undead would probably hurt us in the end. :P

Geeze, I really want to stick with the jack-of-all-trades basic bard but I'm concerned about lack of trapfinding/DD not being a class skill. Anyone have any thoughts?

I think there is a bard archetype that gives you trapfinding isn't there? I wanna say Archaeologist, but I don't recall if that's what I am thinking of.

I could do a Trapper Ranger, get DD and trapfinding. Dip into Bolt Ace later, or even just stay a classic ranged ranger...

Archaeologist gains it, but overall it doesn't fit the vision I had for the character. Plus, I have another character that's doing the well-educated treasure hunter thing and don't want to go too close to that. The better option is simply to plan on taking a level of rogue just for to gain the class skill bonus and class ability to disarm magical traps or make sure my spells eventually compensate.

are you sure his AC and Acrobatics numbers are correct. Acknowledging I am not a monk expert, but I think they may be wrong.

I should be all set. Still need to work on my equipment , but seeing as I am going to rely on my cantrips and spells for combat , it won't be much.

qwerty1971 wrote:

Both are due to his heavy load. Once he drops his backpack, Acrobatics is+3 and AC is 16.

ok don't include the load in your numbers then. convince dave to carry some some of your gear or just remind me you drop your gear when fists fly. I will get confused and do not want to penalize you for it.

No problem, I'll make sure to remind you. Everything else looks good, though?

I mostly just have gear to take care of. Not going to be much for carrying the gear...Will have a final write-up sometime tonight.

Clarissa will need to take you up on that as far as her Bard's Kit is concerned. Weapons, armor, and her thieves' tools she can handle. Bedrolls and food? Not so much :P

Background:
Clarissa Starnon was born to a minor noble family in the city of Westcrown. Her family discovered her natural talent for song at a very young age and cultivated her talent through her formative years. Her mother saw her artistic talent as a way for the family to gain more clout and coaxed her to perform in the Wiscrani opera scene. A cruel woman, Claudia Starnon saw her only child as nothing but a tool. Her father, Giovanni, was in many ways Claudia’s opposite, and cared deeply for his daughter. He knew she actually loved to sing and act, and so he went along with his wife’s plans to find master trainers for Clarissa and attempted to shield her from her mother’s abusive nature. During her teen years, the Starnon family ran afoul of rivals who were concerned with the rising star that was Clarissa and bribed a member of the Order of the Rack Hellknights. When the Order raided the Starnon manor, the Hellknight Signifier planted a copy of “Acts of Iomedae”, the holy book of Iomedae. Being a capital crime in Asmodean Cheliax, the family was sentenced to death on the spot. Clarissa was saved by an armiger, a Hellknight trainee, who was stricken by the girl’s talent and beauty and faked her death. This armiger later returned to the manor and kidnapped the girl, proving not to be a savior at all, but a cruel predator. Clarissa was fortunate that the trainee wasn’t very bright. She easily manipulated the man, pretending to reciprocate his attraction, and put a knife in his back before he could actually assault her. For the next three years Clarissa managed to scrape by on the streets of Westcrown, hiding out in the dangerous Rego Cader, the dead sector, of the city. She quickly learned skills vital to surviving on the streets, and had a promising career as a thief, but Clarissa hated taking from others. Her time on the streets finally ended when more than half of the gang she had been running with was captured by the Dottari, the Westcrown guard. Word quickly came down that they had told the Dottari the names of the rest of the gang and locations of their safe houses. She fled the city the same night these rumors hit the streets, spending a significant portion of her money for travel to Magnimar. Once she settled into her new home, Clarissa sought legitimate work as a performer in a local tavern. Her gifts with song and magic helped her come to the notice of a strange half-elf from Andora. The half-elf was affiliated with the Pathfinder Society, and an accomplished bard. He honed her talents and taught her to fight, a skill which she is still lacking expertise in. Clarissa is now seeking her own way, using her talent, beauty, and way with words.

Appearance and Personality:
Clarissa is a beautiful raven haired human with dark brown eyes. She’s 5’3” and a curvy 145 lbs. She tends to favor clothing that shows off her curves. She is nineteen years old.

When not working a crowd or dealing with someone that has something she wants, Clarissa is a soft-spoken young woman who can be rather demure. As an actor, she knows how to change her behavior to fit into social situations and either blend in or become the center of attention, depending on need.

The Concordance

Although he answers to Natraz, no one knows the true identity of the man who goes by that name. Prior to becoming a monk in the hidden cult of Aroden, few things are known for sure. Natraz seems to have a slight Wiscrani accent, and he seems to have knowledge of Westcrown's underworld, though it is several years out of date. Rumors that he studied at the Longacre Volunteer Military Academy are unconfirmed, but a tattoo removed by flame on his back is roughly the size and location of the branding of the Blackhearts, a selective brotherhood of Longacre cadets. He is an expert in disguise, which has allowed him to remain out of the sight of Chelish authorities, despite his religious views.

I was thinking Natraz might know Clarissa. He might have accompanied her to Magnimar, either in her employ, or simply as a fellow traveler.

Before I jump in on that, is there anything I need to do in terms of character registration or whatnot for PFS? I used to do RPGA stuff forever ago and that was all handled at con events. Doing PFS via PbP is both a new system and different way of doing things.

I will fly today for work to a remote location so after this last post I will be sporadic at best, but will come back with a fury.

Quick question. Since we're doing PFS characters, can we apply any PFS boons? I've got five or so of the older novel boons that can be applied to each of my characters.

i am fine with that since this is for PFS credit
