The rain pours down from a darkened sky, that looms heavily over Ptolus on this 1st of Newyear as each of you make your way to the Ghostly Minstrel, for a gathering of local adventurers to be held this evening in honor of the New Year. Strangely the snow that usually coats the ground is not but mush due to a strange warm weather that started a week ago. What would normally been an occasion to get out of the cold and in front of a warm fire at the Minstrel instead is a chance to drink some cold mead and cool down after scorching humid day.

Pulling your coats further over your bodies to protect you from the steady downpour, you look towards the shops you pass, as you enter Delver’s Sqaure from Center Street and it becomes apparent that most of Ptolus’s citizens have turned in for the evening as most of the shops seem closed. On the corner of each street are posted various announcements from around the city the most prominent of which is are a wanted poster and several flyer’s for an upcoming Republican rally in Oldtown. Across from the entrance to Delver’s square you see the small chapel of St. Gustav’s Chapel a welcome sight to all adventurers who frequent the dungeons below this fair city.

You head Northwest into the square the inviting lights and sounds of the Minstrel up ahead. It again strikes you that the only citizens venturing onto the streets aside from fellow adventurer’s like yourselves are the bedraggled shivvel addicts that seem to stare out at you from within the confines of doorway’s with their bloodshot eyes, blackened fingers and constant shaking. You swear you can smell their horrid breath from across the street ever time you have passed one on your trek to the Minstrel this evening. This should be a day of festivities and instead the depressing air of this holiday seems as if a bad omen of things to come this year.

As you continue you come together as a group at last 40 feet from the front of the Minstrel. For some of you this is the first time you have met each other, for other its is a welcome sight to see old friends and past acquaintances on such an eerie evening like this….

dotting

The rain has begun to drench the group after but a few minutes the open inviting doorway looms 40 feet ahead of the group. The sounds of merriment and music spill out into the street adding to the roar of the rain falling around you. A sudden chill run downs everyone spine.....

perception checks everyone

Male Loresong Faen Illusionist 1

Myrp using his height, or lack thereof, makes his way towards the beckoning doorway, dodging from one sheltering larger person to another. Ah! a little frivolity and cold Meade would be a perfect ending to an otherwise non-productive day.

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12 perception.

Human Oracle 1

Albrek slowly walks through the rain, water dripping from his helm. He glances around at the assembled acquaintances and smiles. "Ah, it's a pleasure to see all of you again. And it's a pleasure to meet you, milady. Come, let's get out of this downpour." With that, he takes a step towards the sounds of the tavern.

Perception (Note: Can't see more than 30ft) 1d20 ⇒ 4

Tony enthusiastically shakes hands with Pol, nods to the others and mumbles embarrased apologies for "The Hugging Incident" to Railina.
"Shall we go in then?" He asks his companions.

Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12

Male Halfling Rogue 1

Ekard avoids the deeper puddles in the street, always moving on his toes. When he catches sight of the shivvel addicts, his brow furrows and he shakes his head, muttering. He gives the rest of the group a nod of recognition as he approaches the Minstrel.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

Pol sloshes along the half-melted snow without much enthusiasm, eyes downcast, and unmindful of the staring shivvel addicts. The chance meeting near the Minstrel had him shaking hands with Tony and giving the barest of glances to the rest of the assembled group.

Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

Ekard

Spoiler:

While everyone else seems ready to head on into the Minstrel, its your perceptive ears that through the roar of the steady downpour, pick up the sound of a bloodcurdling scream that everyone else seems not to have heard. You look up and gaze towards the South Western buildings in the plaza and just barely see 5 figures at the mouth of a covered alley, one of these figures seems to be being accosted by two of the others while the still two more seem to be making sure no one is paying an mind. As you look back towards you companions you swear you see a flash of steel in the hand of one of the figures.

Everyone else:
A tall, well built doorman stands under the eve of the open door way to the Minstrel, he beckons everyone in

"Well fine, Lads and Lass, I should think you might want to get out from this rain; come on in and enjoy the cool ale and the fine mutton, at the Ghostly Minstrel. We have a delightful bard recounting tales of old for you and yours while eat and drink this 1st of Newyear."
He steps aside and motions for the party to enter

Railina stands with the group, a dark blue wool cloak pulled up over head. "Aye Tony, it is quite alright. You are lucky I ask questions first before pulling my rapier though. I could have mistaken you for a mugger." She says with a grin.

"It is my pleasure to meet you all." Railina announces as she makes her way around the group shaking hands. She finally ends up at Chelin giving him a hug. "Seems like we are gonna be working together again. You guys see those wanted posters everywhere?"

"I think the Minstrel's inviting sounds are bearing down on me. We should get outta this rain, eh fellas?"

Perception 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Male Halfling Rogue 1

"I don't mean to keep everyone out in the wet, but I'm pretty sure someone's getting mugged over that way," says Ekard, pointing off to the southwest. "Any of you feel like playing hero?"

"I hope I'm not alone here. I don't fancy the mugger types." Railina answers as she draws her rapier while reciting an incantation and starts to move toward the group of muggers.

Casts Mage Armor on self and draws her rapier. AC is 17

Chelin clops along through the rain on his pony, even the drizzle not able to bring down his spirits. He smiles warmly as he sees the in and even more so as he notes the others with a nod of his head. When he receives a hug(and is the perfect height for it atop the pony) he positively beams. He is just about to dismount from the pony and tie it up when Ekard gives out his warning. He nods his head and readies his lance. "Indeed, what sort of name would we hold for ourselves if he let such a thing happen?

I will have an Oath of Protection for Railina as per the backstory, but I am not counting the bonus until its been 24hours IC that she hasn't taken any damage, rather then assuming she's been safe til now.

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 Perception

"What? Where away? Lets go help then!" Tony will charge in that direction, drawing his rapier on the way making a slithering whisper of steel.

You know, you can just post as your main account then edit it to be the appropriate alias. At least, that's what I do.

"Muggers? They shall know the earth's wrath tonight." With that, Albrek draws his mace and shield and begins to run after the others.

Speed 20

I've only ever posted with aliases and mine show up.

Pol quietly shrugs, and with a slight nod to the doorman, he jogged after the others, pulling out his scythe as he went.

as you head across the square the figures become more clear. The four doing the accosting wear similar tattered cloaks and leather armor, two of them at the mouth of the alley carry crossbows armed and ready, one has a short sword and the fourth a club. You also notice that as you have gotten closer the fifth figure seems to be a comely peasant human woman, in her early twenties, you see look of terror in her eyes, she seems on the verge of tears. she wears dress and has a bandanna covering her long golden hair. The two assailants at the mouth of the alley see you as grow closer and raise the crossbows towards the party

roll initiative and give me an idea of what you are going to do as I will not be posting for another couple of hours as I will be away. Also anyone charging (i.e. running) needs to roll a acrobatics check dc 10 or fall prone from slippery ground. You are currently 30 feet from the alley mouth, the crossbow guys are on either side of the alley mouth within 25 feet, the other two are in the alley between 30 to 40 feet away

Male Human Rogue-(Swashbuckler) L1- AC18 (T15F13)CMD17 | Saves: F1 R6 W-1 | HP 10/10 | Perc: +3 (1) | Init: +4(-2) | Status:Lovesick

Initiative: (1d20+5=21)
Charge attack vs. left side crossbowman--
Acrobatics: (1d20+9=24)

Tony charges across the rainswept pavement like a deer, bounding towards one of the crossbowmen.
He shouts "Unhand that lady you curs!"

Charging Rapier thrust: (1d20+6+2=20)
If he hits:
Rapier damage: (1d6+3=9)

Human Oracle 1

Initiative: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0

Seeing only the crossbowmen, Albrek advances on them and attempts to bash them with his mace.

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 51d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

EDIT: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 Initiative

Chelin will call out. "Unhand her, rogues, or face the consequence."

He looks to the girl. "Worry not, ma'am, we are here."

Presuming that the robbers do not look intent to do this, Chelin will charge forward on his horse with his lance leveled at the rogue with the short sword to distract him from the woman.

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 Acrobatics check for Justice

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23 Attack roll to hit

1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 Damage

Alright Albrek! I am thinking that lady isn't going to feel too safe.

Initiative: 15

Pol continues his light jog, falling upon the closest bowman (right side) with his scythe.

Do I need a check for a light jog? Acrobatics: 20 Assuming I'm near enough to hit, I move up and attack normally with my scythe!

Attack: 15
If a hit:
Damage: 9

Gah, invisible castle is tedious!

Male Halfling Rogue 1

Ekard sighs. "I was afraid that would be the response. At least the thugs here in Midtown got nothin' on the ones in the Warrens."

Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Ekard will make a 20 foot move, angling to see down the alley. As a move action he'll draw a dagger, preparing to throw at the one with the short sword on his next turn.

Initiative order
Tony: 21
Myrp: 16
Ekard & Pol: 15
Thug 1: 10 (club)
Thug 3: 7 (crossbow)
Thug 2: 6 (short sword)
Chelin: 4
Thug 4: 2 (crossbow)
Albrek: 0

Male Loresong Faen Illusionist 1

Initiative (1d20+3=16)

Myrp watches the others run to the rescue of the lady. This was his big chance...Was he going to be an adventurer? Was this his time to shine? With a grimace of firm resolve he runs behind the group. Maybe he could prove himself...Maybe this was the time.
Acrobatics (1d20+3=22)

He nimbly skips among the slick cobblestones his light weight barely making a splash.

Due to his hesitation Myrp will act a round behind everyone else

Tony, our resident swashbuckler, charges across the slippery ground and runs through the first crossbowman, deftly stabbing him through the gut however the thug seems to take the stabbing like a true man and after the sword is withdrawn smiles right back at Tony with a blood filled mouth. Myrp stands back and seems to be sizing up the assailants. Pol rushes by and must suddenly think he is back on a farm in another part of the empire as he takes his scythe to the other bowman and nearly takes the thugs head off however the thug has a survival instinct and is able to move back just enough to keep his head and remain standing; barely!

Ekard moves closer and draws his dagger but like Myrp seems to be sizing up his enemies.

on to the thugs

Both crossbowmen drop their crossbows and draw greatclubs to start bashing their attackers. But are so badly hurt that they miss terribly. just before this the club thug backs up after he pins the peasent lady's arms behind her back.

Short sword moves up and attacks Tony.
Yells out "Back off guv'nor!!!"
And again as with his fellows misses utterly.

Chelin's pony doesn't know what to do and Chelin winds up on the ground with his trousers wet, after his pony loses it footing,he begins to rethinking the pony charging tactic.

Albrek's eyes haven't yet adjust as he tries to bash the one of the crossbowmen and fails to connect.

All the while Railina stays back staring into the cloud thinking of the best tactic.

Next round actions. Tony your up

Seeing the crossbowmen raise their weapons, Railina stop within 30ft of them and lets a ray of frost coalesce from her finger through the rain.

Initiative 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

Ranged touch attack Cold Ray 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20 Damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

NICE!

Initiative 1d20 + 5

Ranged touch attack Cold Ray 1d20 + 4 Damage 1d6 + 2

NICE!

your action will begin on round two just before Tony's

Male Loresong Faen Illusionist 1

Myrp moves to within 30 feet, and lets loose a blinding ray.

Ranged touch, +1 Point blank, -4 for into melee (1d20+1=18)

And blinds one of the opponents.

I will go ahead and call out my attack as against thug #3

Railina snaps out of her trance and blasts Pol's crossbowman freezing him to the spot, he seems to stop breath at just about the same time.

on to you Tony
Oh and an updated init

Initiative order
Railina: 23
Tony: 21
Myrp: 16
Ekard & Pol: 15
Thug 1: 10 (club)
Thug 3: 7 (crossbow)
Thug 2: 6 (short sword)
Chelin: 4
Thug 4: 2 (crossbow)
Albrek: 0

Male Halfling Rogue 1

On his initiative, Ekard deftly flips up the dagger and hurtles it at an opponent (he'll take advantage of the blinded opponent for a sneak attack, if possible, otherwise he'll throw at Tony's opponent w/ the shortsword).

Ranged attack (-4 for throwing into melee): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11; 1d3 ⇒ 3, or 1d3 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + (1) = 2 (sneak attack)

Male Human Rogue-(Swashbuckler) L1- AC18 (T15F13)CMD17 | Saves: F1 R6 W-1 | HP 10/10 | Perc: +3 (1) | Init: +4(-2) | Status:Lovesick

Round 2

Tony is surprised at the thugs toughness as he parries the club, then riposts.
Rapier attack: (1d20+6=26)
Critical Threat--
Confirm Critical? (1d20+6=17)

Critical hit damage: (2d6+6=16)
Halve that if it's not a crit

"Hah!"

Tony will then take acrobatic move action to approach and threaten the thug holding the woman.
First to avoid slipping, Second to Tumble into position avoiding attacks of opportunity: (1d20+9=13, 1d20+9=22)

Tony skewers his crossbowman with much zest unfortunately for the poor guy's family Tony is a bit rough with his corpse, so its definately going to be a closed casket ceremony. Tony then tries to run towards the guy holding the peasant but the ground gets the best of him and he finds himself setting on down on the ground.(Tony your prone)

Behind him the crossbowman drops and no sooner has he fallen than his compatriot with the short sword sudden can't see anything in front of him much less the dagger flying at him from Ekard's hand; due to Myrp blinding spell. Luckily for him Ekard's not having a good day, and his dagger misses him by inches.
pol your up

Are both the crossbowmen dead now? Could you state who is down in the initiative order? Thanks :)

yeah no prob revised init list is as follows
Railina: 23
Tony: 21
Myrp: 16
Ekard & Pol: 15
Thug 1: 10 (club) currently 10 feet back into alley using peasant as shield
Thug 3: 7 (crossbow) frozen to death by railina
Thug 2: 6 (short sword) blinded by Myrp
Chelin: 4
Thug 4: 2 (crossbow) killed by tony
Albrek: 0

When Chelin's turn come up he will shake his head and eye his pony "Justice! That is no way to protect a lady!"

He will then climb to his feet and attempt a fast mount. If he makes it he will use his remaining action to ride up to the assailants, if he doesn't it will take his whole turn to stand from prone and then mount.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 Ride check

Edit: Nope, darn, so full round to get up and back on the pony.

Male Halfling Rogue 1

On his initiative, assuming combat is still ensuing, Ekard draws a second dagger and points it towards the thug holding the woman.

"I rarely miss twice in a day, chum. If you don't let that woman go I'll let fly and all your pals will be callin' you 'cyclops' from now on."

Standard action for an Intimidate check to demoralize the thug. (-4 penalty for size difference) 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

On her initiative:

Railina, surprised by the power of her magic, shifts her focus to the short sword wielding thug and lets another ray of ice loose from her outstretched finger.

Ranged Touch Attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 Damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

After she sends the ray streaming towards the thug, Railina calls out to the remaining one. "You really have no chance now. Let the lady go or you will be visiting the nine hells."

Male Human Rogue-(Swashbuckler) L1- AC18 (T15F13)CMD17 | Saves: F1 R6 W-1 | HP 10/10 | Perc: +3 (1) | Init: +4(-2) | Status:Lovesick

Round 3

Red faced and horribly embarassed (hopes Ethisha never learns of it), Tony regains his feet [Move action]. Covered in wet and mud, he moves over to the last thug, points his sword at him, and shouts "Surrender villain! Your companions are down and you are alone."

Gah, was out. My target seems to have died.

Pol almost takes a step back in surprise, as the thug's breath crystallized mere inches away from him. With an annoyed mutter about spellcasters in general, he..

If blinded guy is alive..saunters towards the blinded thug and swings wildly with his scythe.
Attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21 Damage 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (4, 3) + 4 = 11

If blinded guy is dead..takes one look at the remaining thug, and his human shield. Unbidden rage boils up within him, and with a rare fire in his eyes, surgically lashes out at the thug.
Rage!(for raging's sake) and an..attack?
Attack 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13 Damage 2d4 + 7 ⇒ (2, 2) + 7 = 11

And an acrobatics check if I need. 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

Still shocked about the death of his enemy Pol takes a step to the right and lets loose with his scythe on the blind thug almost killing him in the process through some quirk of fate he survives and tries to turn towards Pol to attack him. But fails to connect due to the blindness.

Club guy seems to be waiting for your next move as he only tightens his grasp on the peasant and continues to back this time 10 feet more back into the alley that is 5 feet wide 40 feet long.

Chelin finally stands up and Albrek is still rubbing the rain out of his eyes for the moment.

Round 3
Railina steps up to the plate again to finish of the blind guy, and again makes an ice statue, the thug stops moving or for that matter breathing after her attack.

Tony's threat doesn't seem to phase the last thug as he just spits a large loogie in your general direction. Ekard threat as well seems not to phase him however the peasant's body seems to be block your shot,Ekard as the thug moves her more in front you.

myrp and pol actions please

Human Oracle 1

What? I was just waiting for the thugs to act before posting my actions, for some reason. Eh, too late now.

Albrek walks up to the remaining thug (Assuming he's within 20 feet) and attempts to bash him in the head.

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 151d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Alberk moves up to the last thug and bashes him in the head, nearly knocking him senseless. The thug is unable to keep the peasant pinned and he lets her go, the peasant girl goes running past Albrek and hides behind Tony. The thug remains standing but doesn't look like he has much fight left in him.

yay, endshot.

Pol raises his scythe high over the final thug for one final blow, and remembered his manners. Dropping his scythe, a strange gleam in his eyes, he descends upon the thug with his fists.

Rage! Nonlethal Attack 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23 Damage 1d3 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

Male Loresong Faen Illusionist 1

Myrp approaches the party of adventurers and kind of stands around as though he's part of the group. He then approaches the released peasant woman, and offers her his hand. "Are you allright"? Myrp asks in a concerned voice.
