A city of mysteries, secrets, and dark histories, Ptolus lies forever in the shadow of a towering stone spire reaching impossibly high into the sky, an enigma and reminder of evil long past.
Here is the OOC discussion thread lets move discussion of the game over to here for now while we wait for the last finishing touches on some of the party's characters
I am doing a catfolk ranger who is a stablehand. If anyone wants to start with me knowing your character let me know if it would work out that we would know each other.
As for who my character is, she's a squire of the Knight of the Pale who's currently in a joint project with the Keepers of the Veil. So Davina might know your catfolk ranger tangentially, but probably not super well.
Magical Lineage
Benefit: Pick one spell when you choose this trait. When you apply metamagic feats to this spell, treat its actual level as 1 lower for determining the spell’s final adjusted level.(Chord of Shards).
Wow! my brain is currently working.... I found my sheet for her. here is again just incase I wi ll update the profile here shortly. I do know that I need to get gear. I will take care of that tonight while at work as well.

edit:
As a newbie to this forum, how do I post as my alias?
When you hit the reply link (or any other link that gets you to the text entry box, I imagine) look down below the box. There should be a Post As popup menu right beneath it, level with the Preview, Cancel, and Submit Post buttons but in the lower left corner instead of the lower right. Click the menu and select the alias.
Just when you post Capt change the Post As to the alias name, the post as thing is right below the text box you type in to post it should show your default alias or main account if you click on the drop down it will show any other alias you have then click submit
Not sure you guys noticed yet but Caldor had to drop out of the game just before I was going to start it so I messaged the last person who showed interest I am waiting to hear back from him. I will give him a day to post a character that is a cleric sort and then we will get start...intend to post the opening gameplay thread post tomorrow in the early to mid evening timeframe so any last changes should be made and posted for approval before then in this thread
Rain is an apprentice brewer, if GMF's catfolk works at the stables which the brewery regularly uses then we could have had plenty of chats during down periods ("They're late with the wagons again, want to play a hand of cards... Say have you heard about..."}
Ok...here is my cleric...check it out and get back to me with any changes...I will work on his backstory and get it out ASAP Thanks for the opening!!!
You need to choose a Ptolus background trait from the player's guide to Ptolus. this is in addition to the three traits you get. Otherwise it looks good, Liren
Ok...will do and I will get the background to you asap...perhaps tonight
Thats fine just finish writing it I am going to post the first post to the gameplay thread as you are pretty much done. Once you get the background written just post it here and make sure you have all three traits + your Ptolus background trait on you character stats.
I had to leave and things got started. *reads*
Edit:
I like the tabs on top, makes things easy. Sorry for the tardiness, things were a mess. Am I too late to continue?
they are more than 120 ft way and since you all rushed out not knowing what was going on except Rorrath no one was actively really looking around nor declared they were making a perception check....on top of that its not really clear outside what with the sheets of rain falling down onto of it being late at night...on a side note Liren did cast a light spell so yes you can see Liren approaching the alley but only two of the thugs would be visible from where you are.
No worries Rosemary just assume you were in the bar and saw everyone rush out

Perception is a passive skill, except when searching. That's why some GMs like to ask for a series of perception checks from players, so that they don't know when there is something worth perceiving.
As a GM, I spend a lot of time making posts like these
DC14 perception:
You can see a flicker of gold, glimmering in a notch in the alcove
So that players can roll and react and the tempo can be maintained.
Actually, might be worth considering a technique for initiative that you see a lot on the boards, especially for a large group: initiative blocks.
For example:
These are the initiative rolls.
Adventurer A 22
Adventurer B 6
Adventurer C 19
Adventurer D 12
Adventurer E 7
Adventurer F 24
Adventurer G 9
Beast A 17
Beast B 17
Beast C 3
Beast D 2
So that gives you a chance for 4 blocks
Block 1 =
Adventurer A 22
Adventurer C 19
Adventurer F 24
Block 2 =
Beast A 17
Beast B 17
Block 3 =
Adventurer B 6
Adventurer D 12
Adventurer E 7
Adventurer G 9
Block 4 =
Beast C 3
Beast D 2
Becasue of the overlap, Adventurers A,C and F can post in any order, and so can B, D, E and G.
It saves time as turn-taking in pbp can really slow things down.
in this situation there are some many factors that would prevent passively noticing something as a GM it is also up to me to determine if something like this is going to be something that requires an active or passive sort of perception....but again as I pointed out because of Liren action you guys would notice him and the front two thugs as the others are within the alley and around a corner
Thanks for your suggestion Rain but I don't post especially for the monster/baddies for a reason also have run games before on these boards without posting this info just fine. but thank you
No that was my bad just re looked at your roll your comment about the nat 1 threw me off I looked at the wrong thing. So you didn't fall I will make the correction in the gameplay thread sorry :(
